Veteran Demon's Souls player perspective
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I played this game back in 2009, and it's one of the most memorable experiences I've had in gaming and still is one of my favorite game's ever. I've now completed two playthroughs of the remake, but this is coming from someone who has probably spent a few hundred hours with the original game. I can tell you this game is a true remake in the sense all the enemies are in the same place, same combat, same weapons, etc. It's just now the prettiest game I've played, has improved sound and score, and plays like a dream. If you've never played this or any other Souls game expect your first playthrough to be rough, and probably take about 40+ hours. Probably shave 10-20 hours off of that if you've played other Souls games. The thing with Demon's Souls or any Souls game there is more than one way to play it, and it only gets tougher on new game plus. There is a lot to explore, and there is a world tendency mechanic, which can dramatically change how you play the game. I'm going to say this game is not for the casual gamer, but if you're open minded and willing to take on the challenge you're in for a treat. The Dark Souls games made some quality of life improvements over this game, so if you're coming from one of them keep that in mind. However, this game literally created a new genre of games, and spawned a decade's worth of sequels and imitators. Overall, for me I couldn't have asked for a better launch title for the PS5, and I hope others get the same enjoyment out of it as I did.

Masterpiece
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Demon’s Souls remake is a masterful reimagining of the original, delivering an experience that’s both visually breathtaking and as challenging as ever. The graphics are absolutely stunning, with beautifully rendered environments and incredibly detailed character models that take full advantage of the PlayStation 5's hardware. The atmospheric design, from the dark, foreboding landscapes to the intricate lighting effects, immerses you in a world that feels both haunting and alive. Gameplay-wise, the remake retains all the core mechanics that made the original such a beloved classic—tight combat, strategic depth, and an unforgiving difficulty curve. The addition of smoother controls and faster loading times makes the experience even more enjoyable without compromising the game’s challenging nature. The sound design and haunting score further elevate the immersive world, keeping you on edge throughout your journey.

An unforgiving but beautiful and rewarding journey
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The original release on PS3 was incredibly memorable to me, with its level design and thematic settings. It's a testament to Bluepoint's efforts that I hardly recognized the remade levels in this latest iteration. The graphics in general and the instantaneous loading times are a good showcase of what the PS5 is capable of. As for the gameplay, players will be met with grueling but rewarding challenges. The levels themselves are relatively difficult, perhaps somewhat moreso than in other Soulsborne titles. However, this makes it more rewarding to arrive at the actual bosses who are memorable albeit a bit less inspired than, say, Dark Souls or Bloodborne bosses. The release price of $70 is a bit steep, but depending on whether you have the tenacity to see this game through, this could be easily worth it. If you're on the fence about Souls-like difficult games, you may want to hold off for a price drop.

One of the better games purchased this year
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm glad I purchased this game! Game graphics are amazing and game play is great. This game is just challenging enough to keep a player busy, but not so challenging as to turn a player away from the game. I've played this about 6-8 hours so far and I'm liking the game play as well as the storyline.

Great gameplay with amazing visuals
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great game and beautiful visuals. I never played the original on ps3 but I'm loving the remake. Learn curve is steep but the reward for overcoming enemy's, obstacles and bosses is enormously high. I recommend for anyone who loves the souls and bloodbourne games and never played demon souls.

A Solid if Unspectacular Souls entry
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A solid Souls experience (indeed, the first) with an absolutely gorgeous new set of paint (perhaps *still* the best-looking console game of this generation) and some appreciated quality of life improvements over the original. That being said the gameplay definitely shows that this was a new formula they were trying to figure out, and there are some annoyances as a result. The game can be obtuse even from a veteran Souls' player perspective, esp when it comes to upgrade paths and material farming. There are no checkpoints (bonfires/sites of grace in later games) so aside from the few levels where you can unlock a shortcut or two, death will result in a full runback of the entire level. This is ameliorated somewhat by the fact that these are by far the easiest bosses in all of Souls-dom, where their art and lore design far exceed the quality of the actual fights. Overall, it still ended up being about a 30 hour experience from start to finish the first time through, and it was enjoyable, if not as transcendent as something like Bloodborne or Elden Ring. Probably worth it just to show of your PS5's graphical capability alone.

The one we've all been waiting for.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I never thought to see the day when this game was brought forth to this new generation of consoles. To be honest, I thought or I was expecting this game for PS4; now on PS5, it was worth the wait. I still own the original one from PS3 and it is one of my favorite games of all times. I put almost 300 hours on that game and now on PS5, I hope to bring everyone of my friends along to play this classic. On PS5 it loads incredibly fast, I was used to waiting on PS3 for the loading screen where you would see an image of one of the characters from the game, but it is almost seamless on PS5, there is no need for that anymore; I do miss those images though lol. The graphics are outstanding, I'm still in awe of how good it looks, the job Bluepoint has done with this game is remarkable. If you never had the chance to enjoy this game on PS3, this is your chance; once PS5s are back in stock that is, or if you already own one and you like a challenge, pick it up now. You won't be disappointed.

A Must for any PS5 owner.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the game to buy with any PS5. The game is a remake of the original PS3 release back in ‘09. It is the game that defined difficulty for its spiritual successor series, “Dark Souls.” And if you’re familiar with the Souls series than you can expect a challenge only those willing to put themselves through it but can ultimately overcome. Bosses are much easier compared to later Souls game but the environment and the lead up to them are far more difficult with very little room for error. You will die again and again but thanks to the incredibly fast load times. You’ll be back to tackle on any challenges you will face in no time. The game doesn’t utilize the dual sense as much. But the visuals in this game are absolutely breathtaking. Especially if you choose the option of 60 fps which I do highly recommend you use. Overall the game is difficult and beautiful and it’s the game that must be owned if you have a PS5.

Amazing game for new comers
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wanted to write a review for those people that never played a should game...because that was me. I played Bloodborn for 10 hours and didn't enjoy it. I had no intention of getting this game. However I went thru a phase where I wanted hard games. I saw reviews that said it was the best PS5 game and best looking game this generation so far. Both staments are correct I found out. So I got this on sale. It is now my favorite PS5 game. This game, much like Returnal...rewards you for playing. You can unlock shortcuts in every level. This makes death really not that bad. The game is incredible looking. Like really really good. I never played the one for PS3. If you own a PS5, get this game. I can't tell you how much fun, addicting and incredible it is.

Great and Challenging Introduction to PS5
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my first Souls game and I tried to go into it without knowing too much about the series other than knowing how challenging the games can be. The game looks amazing on the PS5 and is a great launch title to pick up. It has so much content to replay with a different class or NG+. I’ll continue to play it to try to get platinum. Out of the launch titles I purchased, this one is my favorite. If you want a challenge, you won’t be disappointed. For being new to the series, it was nice to watch some videos online to understand mechanics and concepts of the game that tend to be a little confusing. I definitely recommend getting it if you have a PS5.

Wow, Seriously tough!! But incredibly good.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. An excellent game so far, and i highly doubt that'll change. Not for the impatient gamers...this will humble you! at first you start off, things go great, until they don't. and even in the midst of 25-100 deaths, you still respawn to try & figure out the 'puzzle' that is Demon's Souls. I'd say in comparison to games like Bloodborne- some may see it as challenging, or maybe slightly, SLIGHTLY less crazy. I beg to differ...i really think this is up there with Bloodborne, although the boss fights are probably easier. Not as crazy as Sekiro, but it's definitely no cake walk. other than this FACT...the games visually breathtaking. killer graphics, awesome fidelity..super responsive. Just get ready for a truly wild ride, and play smart from the get go.

Great fun for fans of the Souls-Borne games.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm maybe 1/4th or 1/3rd of the way through the game and I have to say that it is much more enjoyable and not as frustrating as previous From Software games have been. I have played Dark Souls 1 - 3, Bloodborne, and Sekiro and this is very close to Bloodborne for me in terms of overall fun playing. It could very well be the fact that this game is over 10 years old (gameplay wise, since this is a remaster) or that I have yet to hit a particular boss or area where I will rage quit, but so far I'm enjoying it very much.

A Perfect Remake
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review."Demon's Souls" for the PlayStation 5 is a visually stunning remake of the classic 2009 action role-playing game that originally debuted on the PlayStation 3. Developed by Bluepoint Games in collaboration with Japan Studio, this reimagined version brings the dark and challenging world of Boletaria to life with a level of detail and realism that showcases the power of the PS5 hardware. Graphically, "Demon's Souls" is a showcase for the capabilities of the PS5. The game boasts incredible visual fidelity, from the intricacies of armor and weapons to the hauntingly atmospheric environments. The lighting effects, particle physics, and textures work together to create a sense of immersion that was not possible in the original version. The developers have put a lot of effort into preserving the atmosphere of the original while adding modern touches that enhance the experience.

This game is amazing!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was reluctant to get this game after hearing how difficult it is and the $70 price tag wasn’t helping. I’ve played a souls game once before and wasn’t very good but I was itching to give this game a chance. The graphics are freaking amazing and the fantasy settings couldn’t be better. It is a very challenging game but there are guides and videos to help you out if you need it. I would recommend only using guides if you are struggling but I wouldn’t feel any shame in using one because not everyone has lots of free time to invest in games, especially one where you die a lot.

The game that started it all back again
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The game that started a whole new genre. Here it is, it's dark and moody, but this time with a more direct storyline unlike the Dark Souls series that would proceed it. Bluepoint did an amazing job remaking this game, it looks and runs amazingly well. Beautiful graphics, and finally running at a solid 60fps unlike the original on the PS3 that was crawl under 20fps constantly. This is the game to get if you have a ps5, let alone if you are a Souls fan in any form, and especially if you never had the chance to play it's original release.

Demon's Souls - Stick It Out For a Reward
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Whether you are new or a veteran of the souls series, you will be in for a treat. This remake of the Playstation 3 classic was pulled off perfectly. The graphics style combined with the smooth gameplay and animations make this a must buy for those looking to show off the Playstation 5. The game is very difficult, nearly to the point of frustration (but hey, what Souls game isn't?), but with every couple dozen deaths while climbing this mountain, comes a milestone, which leaves you feeling good and curious about what's next on the adventure. Stick with it and be rewarded.

Price is too high for this game
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.good game but really short, the shortest of the souls games. So for 70 bucks it's not worth it, get it on sale. gameplay - 10/10 graphics - 10/10 only reason I give it four stars is for the price not the game. it should be about $30-40 for how long the game is.
