The Game That Launched a Genre
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This isn’t a remastered version, this is a whole new remake. The graphics are great and wonderfully scaled to modern day expectations. The story line is the same as it was on PS3 with a few extras here and there, I won’t spoil it for y’all though. This is the game that created a new genre in gaming. If you love challenges and games that make you think and gives you the feeling of accomplishment after defeating a boss or conquering an area, grab this and experience the next level of gaming on the best next gen console.

So the world might be mended...
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. What an excellent game. I own the original PS3 version of this game and at it's time it was excellent. But this PS5 version takes it to the next level. The game is challenging but you learn through failure. If you're patient with the game and get used to it's learning curve there is much to enjoy and it is so epic. The visuals are stunning, beautiful and it ensnares you into this other world. While it might not be for everyone, you can't argue with the fact that this is the first true step in next gen gaming.

A must have for action RPG fans!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bottom Line: Demon’s Souls remakes the original with all of enhancements one would expect on PS5. Pros: Next gen graphics; fast load times; all the complexities and intricacies of an action RPG Cons: legendary Soulsborne difficulty; maintains some of the annoying game mechanics from the early Soulsborne games Review: Demon’s Souls is a remake of FromSoftware’s eponymous PS3 entry, which introduced many of the core gaming mechanics of the Soulsborne series - viz., Dark Souls 1-3 and Bloodborne. If you’re a fan of any of those games and own a PS5, you’ll definitely want to pick up this game. The graphics look phenomenal on the PS5 (especially if you played Soulsborne games on PS4) and the hardware produces barely noticeable load times. Like other games in the series, the player’s character is infinitely customizable in terms of appearance, attributes, armor, weapons, etc., which opens up many different play styles and approaches. As a genre defining action RPG, the emphasis is on exploration and combat rather than questing or interaction with NPCs. Demon’s Souls maintains the legendary difficulty of Soulsborne games; there is no difficulty setting, and enemies (especially bosses) require strategy and expert timing to defeat. Grinding for levels is often necessary to progress, and even after, victory is not assured. As a result, some gamers may not find the game accessible as they get “stuck” on a boss and are unable to proceed. As a remake, Demon’s Souls retains many of the (in my opinion) annoying game mechanics from the early games that were later removed, such as needing consumables to avoid being a phantom (50% health penalty) and armor upgrades (rather than focusing on weapon development).

Back to the beginning of the Souls-likes
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love Souls-like games, and, as the true originator of the genre, it's great to get to be able to get back to this game. BluePoint did a great job updating this game from 2009 and (as stupidly tough as it is) it's a great time to experience. Only gripe is the $70 price tag. I won't give Sony their blood money so I had to wait a good deal of time for a sale but I won't ding the review rating for this, just wanted to point out this.

A genre spawning series gets new lease on life!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Yes it’s a “remake”, yes the OST is good but some tracks aren’t as impactful as others, yes some of the dream-like ambience is lost behind the shiny and detailed environments but you know what? This game is so finely crafted with attention to detail in every nook and cranny you’d argue From Software and Bluepoint would make an amazing team developing a game in unison. A game like this is what every console launch needs as a feather in it’s cap. Demon’s Souls stands tall among the generic shooters (CoD), the wannabe games as a service titles (Godfall) and whatever Ubisoft squats to crank out (Assassin’s Creed, Watchdogs etc). Demon’s Souls offers a trip down memory lane for veterans of the franchise that started it all and an opportunity for newcomers to experience what they’ve been missing out on in a game that looks, plays and sounds beautiful. I’d recommend this to anybody that loves some true rpg elements in their games mixed with wonderful exploration and an aesthetic appeal that begs to be looked upon and admired. Even if you’ve been kept at arm’s length from previous Souls games for whatever reason I’d say you owe it to yourself, as a gamer and an early adopter of the next generation to take the time and really peel back the layers to discover what From Software has been doing for years. This is the foundation to their formula that has been realized by Bluepoint. Everyone that owns a PS5 should have this game in their library and encourage From Software to sign off on more remakes of their games in this regard. If I had one criticism to give it would be the lack of an option to listen to the original OST while playing. It’s a criticism from a veteran that has played the original with a basis for comparison that wouldn’t affect a newcomer in the slightest. Other than that Bluepoint has done an immaculate job in staying true to the formula that has all but rocketed From Software into one of the most recognizable studios in the world of gaming.

Best PS5 game at the moment
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my 3rd Souls outing, and my first time with Demon's Souls, but this is a great-looking game. Punishing just like all other Dark Souls game, but that makes victor that much sweeter. At this point, this is the only true PS5 title (Astrobot is amazing too, but doesn't really count as a retail game), as all other retail games for PS5 are cross-generational. It shows that this was entirely built exclusively for PS5 with super fast load times, and amazing visuals.

But once you figure out that you are just going to have to die to get more stuff in a attempt defeat a giant blob of slime that throws spears at every part of your body from his, you will be amazed. Also this game looks beautiful on the PS5!

The must own ps5 launch title
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm a huge fan of the soulsborne games. Even played the king's field series back in the day. Never played demon's souls on the ps3 though, so for me this was the killer ps5 launch title. What a ride it was. Definitely tougher than your average game but that's what these are known for. Everything is phenomenal here. Graphics and sound are tops. When you finally beat that area you were having trouble with, you really bask in the glory.

Amazing Demonstration of the PS5’s Capabilities
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’m a huge Dark Souls fan and remember playing Demons Souls when it came out on PS3. I didn’t get very far. I was naive. Look here! A beautiful remaster. Probably the best looking console game I’ve ever seen. Some minor quality of life improvements but largely a lovingly crafted recreation. An amazing game for fans of Dark Souls or action RPGs in general. Be warned: it’s a tough one.

Great Remake
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you have even a vague interest in Souls games, and have or are getitng a PS5 this is a no-brainer. Blue Point has done a great job making a terrific-looking remake that runs smoothly and does a great job feeling "Next Gen". I did not play the original but if you are familiar with souls games, you will feel at home here. As a side note, I would love to see Bloodborne get the see treatment.

Great game!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My son was all over me to get this game as soon as I picked up my PS5. I wasn’t very familiar with it but after watching him play, I had to try it. It didn’t disappoint! It’s very challenging but a lot of fun. The graphics are incredible and although I’m just getting into it, the story is great and I can tell there will be a lot of depth. Great game.

Punishment made enjoyable.
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Truly a spectacle to behold. Amazing visuals with smooth combat makes you feel every mistake, challenging you to chizzle at each level slowly but steadily until you come out the other side a master. Only to get thrown into another new world of horror for you to carve a new path through. It's wildly riveting. Especially if you can go through it with a friend. Co-op is highly recommended.

Wow.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It takes a special game to define two different generations of consoles, but this game does just that. If you're a Soulsborne fan, this is the game that started it all. If you're looking for a challenge, look no further. Should you be looking for an action-RPG with some of the finest visuals of any game period, then this is it. You owe it to yourself to give this game a shot.

Demon's Souls, an A+ launch title for the PS5
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Wow! I vaguely remember the 2009 original Demon Soul's, but this remake from the ground up exclusive for the PS5 is incredible. Visually stunning, no load times between worlds or levels, and punishing difficulty. If you can stomach dying several times until you "learn" how to play, this is the game for you. Very rewarding once you figure things out. A+ launch title!

Live, Die, Repeat!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Played Bloodborne and love it - albeit it was hard. Demon’s Souls is just as hard. No rushing this game. Take your time to learn the deep configuration of items to use in your arsenal. Plan on dying frequently! It’s just how you play the game. Graphics and atmosphere are simply stunning for a launch title. Looking forward to what more I can do (aside from dying). :)
