One of the best receivers I've ever bought. Not only does it walk you through the setting up, but it will automatically do so, for those who dont have the patience

I bought this to upgrade from a Pioneer that I have had for several years. Although it was 9.1, and this is only 7.2, I wanted Alexa and easier setup and control. The controls on this just make sense, including the remote. The additional power, coupled with Audyssey brought real clarity to the sound. I am having some issues with my current subwoofer, so I am likely to pick up a Martin Logan to upgrade it. One bonus was the HEOS app, which makes it easy to control. I was also able to connect to my home library of music on my PC. Very cool. Alexa isn't quite comfortable in my home yet as it turns on the Denon and the TV at the same time. It doesn't sound like a problem, except that it won't feed my speakers until I power off, and power back on my receiver. Yes. I have been on the phone with Amazon, who worked on my system remotely. Hopefully Denon will have a solution as I am calling them next. Once the bugs are worked out and I can figure out zone 2, then I will give it five stars, for the main reasons I purchased it: sound quality, Alexa and ease of use.

Very Good Sound and Somewhat Easy to Set Up

I am on my 3rd Denon receiver. The prior receivers tended to have issues over time, most likely due to having them in an entertainment cabinet. This receiver for the most part was easy to set up. I say for the most part because it took a few more adjustments for the back speakers to be separate from the rest, as my speakers are outside. Additionally, to get the monitor to play apps I could not make this work for some time. I sent a note to Denon with no response. I finally figured out I had to turn off the speakers on the television. This and the back speaker set up was a frustration. I do have to say that after all that, the picture through the receiver is much clearer than with my prior receiver. The sound is amazing. It is easy to connect a phone to the receiver. There are a few weird things about the receiver. Sometimes it thinks I want to listen to the HEOS music or it connects to BluRay automatically. NOt sure why it does that. I connected it to Alexa and weirdly which is probably more of an Alexa issue it turned on by itself. The sound from the system is very clear and I am pleased so far.

Got this to replace a 7 year old Onkyo receiver. As much as I loved the old one, it just couldn't support 4K the way that it should. Love this new guy. Easy to set up, lots of features and EIGHT HDMI inputs! Very user friendly. You DO have to download the instructions online, but I only needed them for advanced features. Note that there is a firmware upgrade once you get it set up. I suggest that you do that step AFTER you have things set up, not before. Good sound, decent power and works as advertised so far. For the price, it is a great purchase!

Set up for this product was by far the easiest of any prior Home Theater AVR. The UI is intuitive and easy to follow.
Sound is very clean. Drive my older CSW Netwon series speakers with ease.
This unit was purchased to replace an 8 year old Denon 5.1 unit that finally gave up the ghost.
I would highly recommend this unit for those who prefer to customize their own home theater. Would do very well if you ran a Bose HT speaker set too.

Great Receiver for the Price

The Great
- Stellar sound quality for a moderately-priced receiver.
- Supports ATMOS sound.
- Turntable has own input.
- Affordable and still high quality.
The Good
- 7 HDMI Inputs.
- Built-in Bluetooth.
- Built-in wi-fi if needed.
- 7.1 surround sound.
- Has component (2) and composite (2) inputs.
- Well-organized menu system for settings.
- Microphone and cardboard tripod included for speaker setup.
The Not So Good
- Does not support HDMI upconversion from component and composite inputs.
Overall I am very happy with this receiver. It sounds great, works hand in glove with my 4k monitor and has amazing features considering its price point.
My only (minimal) gripe is the lack of analog to HDMI conversion, although it supports analog sound, which I found odd. I still have a Wii and original XBox we like to play from time to time, so the lack of this feature hurts. My old Pioneer receiver did this, so I'm a little disappointed that this Denon did not. However, that is just the tiniest dent in my enjoyment factor.
If you can live without the built-in upconversion then this is an outstanding receiver and I highly recommend it.

Denon is one of the leading manufacturers of high quality receivers. This receiver is designed for surround sound in a living room. It has plenty of clean power for five speakers and a subwoofer. The receiver has plenty of HDMI ports. It is easy to operate by remote. Great value at the price.

Lots of neat features, HEOS, Bluetooth, wifi, plenty of power. I paired it with Klipsch center and surround speakers, Sony Atmos speakers and kept my old KLH tower speakers. It blew me away how much better it sounded than my old Pioneer home theater in a box.

I have high end infinity speakers, and my older denon kicked the bucket and I found this in stock and on sale, so I figured I would buy it to hold me over until I could decide on a new one. I was not expecting this to be up to snuff for my system, yet from the super easy set up, that works to perfection for my room, to the actual very good sound for movies and music, I decided to stick with this, and I have to say, I am still very happy after a coupe of months.
Don't hesitate to buy this one !!

Sounds great but lacks power

This really is a great sounding receiver. The highs/lows are outstanding. The only issue is that it lacks power (in my opinion) for 8ohm speakers and is only 5.1.2. This isn't a problem if you have a smaller room but if larger, you may want to look at a receiver with more power. For example, from my TV itself, I'd have to turn the volume up on this up to 75 to really hear it good. No I'm not hard of hearing and the digital audio out on the TV was at the max. I ended up replacing this with the Onkyo TX-NR787 and happy to say that the power difference is noticeable. Again, this Denon is a great sounding receiver but if you have a large room as I do, you may want to consider something with more power per channel.

I was unfortunately surprised to find out that the built-in apps aren't built in as I expected them to be. I was under the assumption that I would be able to login to my Pandora account on the receiver and then navigate the app via the receiver which isn't the case, you have to install the HEOS app. When multiple people have the HEOS app installed and want to each play songs their isn't a queue and the transition from one person to another is a slow and painful process. Also, if you want to set up multiple zones be aware that you can't choose most of the input sources. For example, if you have a ChromeCast plugged into an HDMI input source and you are streaming Pandora to it the receiver can play that source on Zone 1 but if you try to mirror that to play on Zone 2 the input choices you can select for Zone to are the audio only inputs like CD, Phono etc. meaning you can't play the music on both zones. All in all I think it is a decent product I just had some specific use cases I was trying to accomplish and this product couldn't accomplish them.

This receiver replaced a 20 year old Sony. Picked it because of the features and depth (I have a narrow cabinet that this is going in). Setup was a snap. Microphone setup worked great. I'm not an audiophile so I'm sure others would disagree if you get into the nitty gritty but for the price it suites my needs. Movies sound great, wifi is solid, apple streaming works great. Doesn't get as loud as my speakers will handle but I can't play it the way I want without my wife telling me to turn it down. Paired it with the older Bose cube's and a new Klipsh 12" sub. I love it, not complaints.

I recently purchased this system because I thought my box was not working. It turns out, the cable box needed a reset. I kept the receiver because I already purchased some new speakers and decided to go ahead with the upgrade. Since installing, I had problems mainly because I tinned the speaker wires and attached them directly to the receiver connection. I recommend using banana jacks because if a speaker wire touches the back case while the system is operating, your system will register an overload condition. This was a challenge to diagnose. Once I tried resetting the system, unplugging it from everything and checking the speaker wires, I discovered the problem and haven't had any issues since. The fix wasn't something easy to find in the manual, so I searched online. BEWARE - this thing has a LOT of options and puts out some great sound!

I bought this to replace my older Pioneer AVR which honestly was still working fine although outdated purchased 20 years ago. Its an easy setup but I have still much to learn. I can no longer hear movies directly from my smart tv which is only 2 years old. I tried every setting I can think of and its starting to make me think this was not such a good purchase. The other issue i have is setting up speakers. If you add speakers you cant just continue where your last setting was and update with new speakers. You have to start all over again. Also when turning on power I have to click on the cable then switch to anything else then go back to choosing cable so i can have sound. This is annoying. So perhaps its me, I just didn't set it up correctly. I would love to get feedback from Denon because their manual really sucks. BTW when trying to update on line, my model is not listed. Very frustrating

I bought the DENON - AVR 1295W 7.2-Ch. Hi-Res with HEOS 4K Ultra HD HDR Compatible A/V Home Theater Receiver almost two years ago and this really rocks it. I bought this one to replace a comparable (price-wise anyway) SONY receiver that went out after two years. Not sure why, but couldn't find anyone to fix it at a reasonable price. The SONY had quite a few more sound configurations than the DENON but the DENON set up the way I liked it sounded much, much better than the best configuration I could manage on the SONY. Bottom line, I have bought SONY for ever, in fact I am pushing though two SONY 100-watt speakers I have had since 1984 plus a new SONY subwoofer and three 100-Watt Klipsch speakers and they all sound great! Better than ever. So I will be buying DENON receivers into the foreseeable future. They also have good service support. I had to reset to factory specs once because my Smart TV confused it and they had be up and running in no time. Get the BEST BUY Total Service Support package though if you don't have it. Their GEEK SQUAD team can solve any tech problems with any of your electronics for one low-priced subscription. It is like having your own family IT Department.

Once you calibrate the sound with their microphone it provides an awesome sound experience. One very important data point DON'T unscrew the sound terminals (for the speaker wires), rather use quality banana plugs like audio quest SureGrip 300's. Using these plugs doesn't torque the terminal, which is a weak link, at least in the last DENON we owned. No issues with the plugs.

After too much Youtube and online reviewing, I went with this as a starting point for my home theater/music blaster. After several months, I'm real happy with this choice. So far, plenty of wattage that my ears seem to crave. My living room is aprox. 1,650 sq. ft. and so far, so good. The remote is relatively easy to use too.

I bought this to replace my Onkyo receiver that powered my Onkyo home theater in a box. Well that receiver, only a year old, stopped providing power to my speakers. I'm so glad that happened because this Denon receiver makes my speakers sound so much better. Setup was easy and the menu is well designed. I'll be sticking with Denon from now on.

Not much to complain about here. Sounds great and easy to setup. My only two issues are:
1) Has 2 HDMI outputs. If it is connected to TV 2 and TV 2 is not on, I get disconnected on TV 1.
2) No RADIO.COM app. There are many great stations that are only available through the app that require extra work to play through my phone over Bluetooth.

I bought this receiver when my Onkyo went out. It can fill my living room with crystal clear sound, whether watching a movie or listening to an album. It has enough HDMI inputs and a phono in. The setup interface is really easy to use and offers plenty of customization options.
