Not much different on this s940 than the new s950 and at the store it was half the price. Easy setup(if you’re familiar with Denon or Marantz). Great quality.

This replaced a 16-year-old Denon receiver that died, even after reset attempts. I could connect my DVD player and TV, but not the VCR. No biggie, really; if I need a VCR, I can use one in another room on another TV. The sound is just as good as my old Denon. Setup was a bit tricky; I like all devices to come on when I press my "system on" button on my universal remote. I finally got this to occur, but if I want to watch Netflix, I just have to press a second button for the sound; when I am done, the receiver automatically switches back to my cable box for sound.

The Denon - AVR 1295W 7.2 Ch. Hi-Res With HEOS & 4K Ultra HD HDR Compatible Home Theater Receiver is a great receiver with so many great features you can't beat for the price. It is powerful enough for my very nice speakers and great for movies.

After my in home consultation convinced me to spend the extra cash for this receiver and that it was worth the money. She was so right. The setup with the oddessy mic was easy and the power with the Klipsch speakers is a movie experience at home now

I use this receiver as a 5.1 system with my Cerwin Vega speakers. The sound is great. The number of HDMI inputs is great. everything in the back of this unit is specifically labeled. This unit also has a spot for phono. I love it.

This receiver was very easy to set up. I was able to connect and test all the speakers in a few easy steps. Hooked up Tv, xbox and firestick no problem.
It does run hot so I dont recommend it being enclosed. Great product.

Big upgrade over ONKYO!

This device has been great. After problems with ONKYO hdmi output ports on two different devices this device has taken that worry away, so far. Set up can be easy or if you're experienced, you can dial it in to your exact specs for all devices. I will say that having to access the HEOS app and the Denon app from your phone at times is cumbersome. The alexa set up and use has not been as satisfying as I hoped but still experimenting.
Final improvement option that ONKYO AVR's do offer compared to Denon is the ability to have full 7.2 sound and toggle back speakers to zone2. As best as I have been able to set up, if I have zone 2 speakers connected I can only get 5.2 in the primary listening area. The renders my back 2 speakers (or your wiring choice) unusable. Looks like I'll be forced to add wireless speakers to expand!

Serious overheating problem

I purchased this Denon as a first as I have always used Yamaha, but Yamaha have lost the high end status they used to carry. It hooked up nicely and was easy to set up, including the internet Wi-Fi etc. I am using all channels as 7.2 but when even at 50% power it has an overheating problem. All speakers (Klipsch) are properly set up at 6 ohms but it still shuts down and gives me the “Thermal Protection Mode Activated” across my TV and completely lock up. I have called Denon USA and even placed Two 120mm fans on top but no fix. Denon responded that I need to place in an unclosed area but it is on a shelf and my Theater room is kept at 76’. Very frustrated…

Denon is a brand I've used and enjoyed since the late 1970s. This receiver has the flexibility(inputs, power, quality of sound and ease of operation) that I wanted. I've enjoyed it since purchasing day one.

This is a really solid AVR choice if you value quality but don't desire to break the bank. Setup is fairly straightforward with the Denon on-screen guide. I also like Denon's sound calibration options.
