This isn’t my first Denon receiver; I also own a AVR-X4400h. Even though this was considerably cheaper than what I paid 5 years ago for my other receiver, this does great paired with a 5.1 Jamo system in the bedroom. The value given it’s performance is well worth it and I won’ wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone else.

This has been an excellent entry-level receiver for my home. I don't really think you need anything more than this as long as you pair it with proper speakers and good quality subs. My setup with this receiver makes me jump sometimes during particularly intense movie scenes.

This is my first Denon amp. Pioneer had my spoiled. Set up was not difficult, I'm not a tech head, but I somewhat know about this stuff. I love music and need it to sound a certain way; Denon serves it's purpose.

This is a very highly featured Home Theatre Receiver. Off the top of my head, I can think of any missing features. It works just fine. The only negative I can see is when switching channels on a source STB (eg: Directv STB), there can be latency / blank screen - I suspect as the Denon tries to navigate a different source resolution ...like maybe 720P to 1080i ? To be clear, this is NOT the Denon switching inputs - this is the input source simply changing channels. Perhaps there is a way to fix this - I will dig deeper. The user manual is pretty amazing,...although I think the overdid the redundancy a bit much.

Like this AVR so far. Took a while to find the setting to prevent the AVR from turning on every time we turned on the TV, but now it works just the way I want it to. It's difficult to figure out the differences between the various Denon models, as the differences are typically minor from model to model, and even Denon tech support struggled with that question. But I selected this model as it seems to have everything that I need, and I've been happy with it.

Long story about having to replace our receiver. But the short of it is had to rrplace the old Yamaha and asked the geek squad guy which receiver I should buy. He suggested this one. Got a good deal and the team came and installed it for me. It’s fantastic and does everything I need it to.

Upgraded to this receiver to take advantage of the eARC and 4k 120hz pass-through that my LG tv is capable of doing. If you have a dolby atmos setup, eARC (enhanced Audio Return Channel) is a must if you want lossless audio. ARC downscales the atmos codec and limits to 4k @ 60hz because it cannot handle the bandwidth needed to support it which that was what my older onkyo receiver was doing. The audio quality is also better and cleaner sounding even with the bundled speaker set that came with my onkyo. Hearing sounds I couldn't notice before in movies I've seen dozens of times is like icing on the cake or flies that sound like they are buzzing around you, lol. Getting it set up by the initial setup does an okish job. It took me quite a few hours over a few days to get set up to my liking. Having a cable box connected to it had some issues so i just connected it to the tv *If you have picture and no sound, make sure the hdmi deep black on that input is OFF.
