Recently upgraded to a 4K setup (yes I am late to the party). Had great experiences with an older Denon and decided to try this newer model. Great set of features at an excellent price.

I love it! I bought it to replace my old one. However, It's still sitting on a box in the middle of my living room because I broke my arm just after I bought it so I can't place it in it's permanent spot yet. I couldn't be more pleased.

Had some trouble understanding the Zone 2 operation. Other than that the Denon is a great product. I bought this unit to replace an old Denon ARX3200 which had a fatal failure.

I bought this receiver to replace an older Yamaha, pretty much in the same price point, but Yamaha are harder to find right now because of supply chain. I moved to a much smaller condo and thought it was a good time to check out some of the new technology.
This Denon sounds great and it was easy enough to use the Audyssey technology to set up the speakers.
The problem I have is getting used to powering on/off and switching between inputs. The unit will randomly shut off or default back to cable/satellite when I try to switch inputs.

Very complicated unit to use. I am bugged that they don't provide a hard-copy manual. And when I downloaded onto my phone it won't open. So far, the unit works.

If you have a simpler system but want good power and sound, this is an excellent unit. I use it with a full front stage and height channels. Sounds amazing.

Great AVR that will not break the bank!

Found this as a great AVR that will not break the bank. The new models as of 2021 work great if you are looking to use HDMI switching for 8K or 4K 120. Power output is great for most home user looking to get into the base Atmos setup or need the second zone. With supporting HDR10, HDR10+, Dynamic HDR and Dolby Vision it should support most users video needs. But the reason that I really needed the X series over the S series is the upgrade from Audyssey to Audyssey XT room correction. I found a very big difference in the sound with room correction between the two version with the XT making a big improvement in the sound.

Very nice receiver, using it for 7.1 surround setup, watching movies and listening to music. The movie watching like local cable and 4k streaming and 4k movie cd with dolby atmos/dolby vision. The dolby atmos and DTS works well on the AVR. Make sure you have the right cables. I also use this receiver for streaming apple music(airplay), works great and sounds great. I am not using the video pass through , i have this setup from earc(AVR) to earc(4k tv). So i can't tell you about the 8K upscaling.

We love this receiver! We wanted a two-zone so we could have the indoor speakers have a sports game on by the television, and the outside speakers have music for people hanging out. It's perfect!

Bad speaker protection function

Works well when it is not shutting itself off. Has a speaker protection function that disables the receiver arbitrarily. Not playing loud and nothing wrong with speakers or wiring. Has played all day in a different function then switch to something else and it shuts off. Denon contacted multiple times and can’t disable the function.

Good AVR needs buttons on the main unit

Receiver is pretty good. No complaints. Similar to my more expensive marantz with just what you need. My biggest conpalint is that it doesnt have buttons on the main unit. Only has source knob and volume knob. If controller breaks you cant do anything without it.
