Had it a few weeks now and it works great. Excellent sound and flexible with various input sources. We're using it for 5.1 sound.
The two things that I would complain about are (1) the audio setup wizard was a bit too rigid. I had to manually set things for my 5.1 setup. It kept wanting to calibrate 7 speakers in addition to my sub and annoyed me. (2) The volume adjustment is slow...significantly slower than my previous Marantz receiver.
Hello DavidD, we know you had many choices, and we are pleased that you selected Denon. Happy listening.

I like the Denon AVR X1800H, as it was easy to install and has nice features. The only concern for me is I believe that I need more power/watts, so deciding whether to upgrade or keep.

I had a 3000 series for over 20 years. It was built like a tank. It still works great. I replaced it because it did not have hdmi inputs or outputs. This new Denon is half the weight. It has all the bells and whistles. I still have not figured out how to adjust bass and treble. I hope it is as well made as my last one.

So far, the receiver has been great. I mean nowadays a receiver is just a receiver and they all essentially do the exact same thing, but Denon has been a great purchase thus far so I would recommend it. It is easy to maintain and has every port/outlet you can think of so you can literally connect any device to it--which is a major win for our household.

For the basic functionality, it's good. But it doesn't have the menu options for connecting the 2nd sub for the 7.2 setup. Even though we can manually connect a 2nd sub, the power seems to have split between them and doesn't produce good lows. The volume control also seems to be a bit off, as with a single tap it variates like 1~8 units (at times)
Switching between the inputs also sometimes shows blank screen for few secs, but not sure if it's about the hdmi output ports or the input ports on the Benq projector
