I upgraded from an old Denon AVR1613 from 2012. While it still worked fine for a 5.1 system and Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS:NEO, I have been wanting a new Denon for a while now. Came across this Denon X2800H at a screaming deal for $729 (it dropped to $650 the next day and i caught it so was able to price match and get a credit to my account) and the very last one in stock anywhere within 100 miles of me. I kept clicking on buy now but i must have been fighting with someone over it cause it kept telling me it was no longer available. So i just kept trying for the next few min and just so happened to grab it and sure enough it was out of stock after that. Can't even find it on their best buy website at the time of this review. I also upgraded my center to the Definitive Technology CS9040 and my left and right to the DefTech BP9020 the same day after getting them for an awesome deal on fb marketplace. So I'm using those with 2 of Polk Audio Bookshelves from my previous system until i can find some deftech rears in good shape for a decent price. The receiver is great. I love it. I have it hooked to the eARC port of a 77" LG C2 OLED, with a 3rd gen Fire TV Cube and Series X hooked directly to the receiver testing out the inputs to see if i wanna leave it this way or hook to the TV. So far so good. To get 4k120 on receiver, only ports 4, 5 & 6 do it and you need to go into settings and switch the input to 8k enhanced. With the cubes audio set to Best Available, I couldn't ever access different sound modes on the receiver. I changed it to DD+ and now can select a bunch of different sound modes including DD+, Dolby Atmos/Dolby Surround, DTS Virtual and Neural, etc. Something to keep in mind if you have one. Looking forward to upgrading my rears and getting 2 more speakers for Atmos. Definitely recommend this receiver if you can find it at a good price.
Hello, JC253. That's quite a system you are assembling, and we are honored to be a part of it. We’re glad to hear about your positive experience with the AVR-X2800H receiver and wish you many years of enjoyable listening. Denon

I was having problems with my old receiver doing airplay and Bluetooth. It was a Yamaha. The new receiver sounds great even with a little difficulty with bass management. I have it all sorted out now. I had the geek squad do the installation and they were great. Lots of my blue rays sound much better. Apple Music runs great on this machine. Audyssey is very helpful for room correction. I wasn’t very satisfied with the bass so we had to make some adjustments. Other than that it’s a great product with plenty of features and power. I do recommend getting some sort of fan unit to keep it cool.

After three Yamaha and two Onkyo AVRs over the last 20 years, I decided to buy my first Denon, the AVR-X2800H, in October of '24. And six months later I remain pleased with the purchase. Current setup is 5.1 with Klipsch R600F L/R in front; RP600C in the middle; R40M L/R surrounds; SPL-120 sub; but will expand soon to 7.1 with 2nd pair of R40M for rear surrounds. I will then switch from manual setup to Audyssey room correction. I am thinking that will make an audible improvement as the upstairs game room features four odd vaulting slopes to ceiling. As it is, the x2800 performs well for what I ask of 70% home theater/30% audio. Connection and setup to the first tv (optical audio) and my new LG C4 OLED (2.1 eArc HDMI) was quick although I needed to dig deep for the correct audio out setting on the LG. No CEC issues. Bluetooth works well and Apple Music (thru HEOS) streams CD quality audio flawlessly. There are a LOT of features I have not yet explored and some of those capabilities appear difficult to engage so I'm rating ease of use four stars. Otherwise, I'm very happy...

Extremely easy to use. Replaced older model. Love the HEOS music along with the Bluetooth and internet connectivity, brings more to the game than what I previously had. Has all the features needed for that perfect sound and picture. Remote is very well laid out and easy to navigate when interface is viewed through a monitor or TV screen You won’t regret your purchase.

It is a big improvement over my Pioneer Elite VSX45, with understandable sound configurations. Very happy, and a perfect choice between typical and overpriced. It deserves a look.

I loved this receiver. Beautiful sound and very easy to use. The Marantz app is also a plus because I can play my music from my iPhone to the receiver which is wonderful.

I am very happy with my purchase. I am not an audio wiz, but the guidance i recieved from the best buy pros helped me land on this equipment for my home theater setup. I use this device for bumping some music in my living room and enjoying movies on another level. I rented a house with cieling speakers, getting this device made it my listening experience in another level! The HEOS app workers great and plays my favorite tunes in stereo version, then switch back to surround sound for movies!

The Denon Home Theater receiver for our home is fantastic and the upgrade to this model was a great choice by our sales rep. The full surround sound and sound effects give it a 5 Star rating!

Bought this Denon receiver to replace my 10 year old Denon just to get the new surround sound the new ones have. This is my third Denon receiver. I up grade about every 10 years. Looked at other brands but always find Denon has the one that work for me for the price.
