This Denon was installed by Geek Squad. The unit is defective and it has to be replaced! If it doesn’t work this time, I expect a full store credit! Then I’ll replace it with another Yamaha AVR!

Purchased this to go with our new 4K TV and Panasonic DP-UB820-K 4K DVD. It works with the TV, DVD and Cable great but the Sony TV does like to dominate turning when the receiver turns on and off.
This is our 3rd Denon receiver and it is simply great. Sound is perfect whether streaming or watching a 4K movie (where it really excels). Setup is easy and the full screen program the implemented makes it much easier to navigate through the menus.
We are using this in Dolby Atmos with 5.1 + 2 Atmos set-tops in a medium sized family room off of the kitchen so some compromises in speaker placement was needed. The X2800H took on this task with excellent results.
This is a great receiver, cost is reasonable and features will cover you for years to come.

I bought this a few months ago when my 20-year-old receiver started having problems. The purchase price was higher than I originally intended to spend, but I upgraded in order to get a 24-month, interest free, purchase option. And I am glad I did.
The sound quality is superb, and I was pleasantly surprised to hear how clean and crisp the background music and general sound quality can be on many TV shows - sometimes better, I think, than that of many CDs. Also a surprise was the ability to electronically apply equalization selectively to the various speakers that are connected without needing any external graphic equalizer.
I can also send sound from my iMac using Apple Airplay, which is higher quality than using Bluetooth. The sound quality for this is fantastic from music from sources such as Apple Music or Amazon Music, or from music stored on a hard drive. Also I can use the HEOS application to select favorite music sources and send them to the receiver.
Also there is Internet Radio which lets you select music from many genres broadcast from all over the world. Some stations have higher bit rates than others which can affect the sound quality and also the reliability of the source. But I have found some that I really like and that sound great.
I am also able to connect the receiver to Bluetooth headphones and select whether to only have the headphones active, or to also let the speakers remain active at the same time.
To get the best use out of this receiver you may need to spend some time in the owner's manual, which you can download from the manufacturer. But this can be time well spent in order to learn what all this thing can do and to get the best from it. I am giving it just 4 stars for ease of use ONLY because you have to dig through the owners manual to get the most out of it and figure out certain things.

So my Marantz 8012 shorts out so I needed something to use with my Bowers and Wilkins 702 S2’s (with a B&W 5.2 home theater setup with a 75” QN90B Samsung tv) until I could figure out if my 8012 could be saved. I had NO IDEA what I wanted but settled on the X2800H because I thought I could maybe use it in the bedroom if it couldn’t push the B&W’s or if the 8012 couldn’t be repaired it would wouldn’t disappoint me into returnibg it abd dropping another 3K for an AVR. Boy, was I pleasantly surprised! This thing is so easy to set up and sounds awesome. There is no drop in quality to my ears at all. If my 8012 get repaired, this is a solid back up I’ll use in the bedroom or whenever I’m messing around with different speakers. If 5.2 is all you need, save some dough pick up this little guy. You’ll be glad you did.

This was an upgrade for my Marantz SR7011. I was expecting some improvements, but WOW. The soiund is oustanding! My 7.1 surround system TOTALLY came to life. I used the included microphone for setup and there was absolulty nothing else to do. My system is Klipsch fronts and center, Definitive Audio surrounds and rears, and Marin Logan Grotto sub.

I am pleased with the power and sound from this Denon unit. It replaced an older unit and the interface has improved and HDMI CEC is a great addition making it possible to close our cabinets and control all the aspects of our new unit. The service and setup from Geek Squad was efficient and we are enjoying the new receiver.

Setup to get proper sound took a long time. I had my LG C1 working fine with a 4 year old Denon 2300 AVR that a moving company recently ruined. I have a 5.2 setup with all Klipsch RP speakers, and after a fair amount of effort this unit does produce quality sound.
Out of the box, the settings that I had used with the 2300 previously did not work well with this 2800. Over the course of a few days, using primarily the web control function of the denon AVR app, I was able to finally dial-in excellent sound. However, an oddity was that I was using DTS Neural X as my primary processor with the 2300 and it sounds horrible on this new unit no matter what little tweaks I do. Dolby Surround has turned out to be the best sound processing option, but only after I adjusted and tweaked various levels, the EQ, and distances just-right before this new unit sounded good.
All that aside, once I adjusted the settings, this unit really does sound good. The heos app has a basic interface if you have music downloaded on your own phone that you want to stream. You can make it happen, but it's not a seamless experience and it's not user friendly.
Is it possible that moving up to a more expensive unit would resolve some of the neck-pain this unit forces upon you... maybe. However, at 50 years old, there are certain price points that I just will not accept and the next step up model price was a bridge too far.
I would also offer a word of caution to pay attention to the BB return policy which is only 14 days. I thought it was 30 days, but you only get an extended return period if you pay for various Best buy membership types.
Final comment, e-arc between my LG C1 and this unit would not work seamlessly. Sound was transferred, but the LG remote would not control volume up and down nor mute over HDMI. I finally erased the external device settings and switched to an optical cable and now I can control all these things through the LG magic remote. I cannot tell much difference in sound quality, so if you have a similar setup don't waste time with HDMI as the LG system recognizes 20 something denon receiver options, not by model but rather it says here's option one, here's option two, here's option three... I tried four or five configurations which without fail would not control the volume.

Being a little bit of an audiophile, I was a little bit concerned about the sound quality of the music I like to listen to. I was very pleasantly surprised! I knew that this receiver would sound great with movies and home theater, but was a little bit concerned about it being a little bit too bright. For me it's not.. Good. Sound reproduction, of course. It's not a $25,000 receiver, but it matched the Macintosh receivers that I asked the salesperson to switch between and for the money. Money I think it's great!

I bought this as an open box purchase. They were dismantling the home theater display room at my store. This was the last receiver available. I was looking to replace a 20 year old Pioneer Elite receiver. I’m amazed at what 20 years of technology was able to produce. I was also happy to part with coax and optical cables to transfer sound to the receiver. This receiver is great for the price paid. Easy calibration steps at install. Sounds great when playing movies (most of our entertainment). I would definitively consider Denton for future purchases. Note: when buying open box items, ensure you have all the critical parts before leaving. I was able to return to get the mic setup. I had to order the wireless antennae’s from Amazon. No big deal.

Sound, installation, HEOS, TV compatibility and power all 5 stars.
I have found that streaming music to my receiver causes a few seconds of skipping every few minutes. This completely resolves if the TV is on.
Spoke to Denon and BestBuy directly and initially returned the first unit I purchased and reinstalled another one, with the exact same problem.

This one's loaded with features! The sound is crisp and clean. I'm getting ready to purchase the HEOS speakers to add another dimension to my listening pleasure. The Bluetooth option is another feature that allows for playing a long list of smooth jazz favorites throughout the day. I'm still learning to navigate through all the options, but I am sure glad I bought it!!

Bought this in combination with an LG G4. This receiver can handle anything you can throw at it! Lots of power with clean, crisp sound. Pass through 4K/8K for future proofing. This thing is a beast!
