Very good piece of equiment
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall, this is a very good device. There were a couple of things I couldn't figure out (like which poles to connect for the AM antenna), but overall it was pretty good. It could use a more detailed manual. Even an online one that has more details would be good.

Whose mistake?
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this Denon product to replace a broken receiver from the Stone Age. I wanted to be able to use a wonderful old speaker system I cannot use without a receiver. Three reasonably tech savy friends tried, and failed to install it. And so I hired the Geek Squad to come out and set it up. This fellow (and an assistant) also could not get it to work properly. There are, by the way, no dials on the receiver itself---it must be run through your phone (whose idea in product development was this?) Finally, I returned it to the store, and was relieved to be out only my lost time and the price of the Geek Squad visit. I left it behind with a pleasure that comes only rarely in life.

Posted .Hello George. Sorry to learn your experience with replacing your receiver didn't go as well as you had hoped. Some older speakers lack the conventional connectivity, and therefore are not compatible with modern AVRs by any brand. Bose 901s with their external EQ are a good example of this, with users left out in the cold when they look for a new AVR to drive them. Receiver connectivity has changed so much in the last 30 years that they are now called AVRs. This is due to the fact that they also support advanced video connectivity. There are likely to be potential solutions for you, but unfortunately - without knowing the make and model of speaker you have - it isn't possible for me to offer any suggestions at this point.

Boring and lifeless
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The build quality is fine and setup is easy enough but the audio quality is disappointing (AVR-X2800H). I had to replace a Harman Kardon from 2006 and by comparison the Denon sounds sterile and boring. Harman Kardon's 40 watts is stronger than Denon's 95, the 2800 will have noticeable audio degradation long before it hits 95w.

Posted .Hello. Not knowing which speakers you have, it isn't easy for us to be certain what the issue might be. The vast majority of those who have detailed their experience with an AVR-X2800H are more than happy with the overall performance. This could be an indication that either your system requires a little more break-in time (3 weeks of regular usage), or the settings may need some attention (we recommend running Audyssey and experimenting with Dynamic Volume and Dynamic EQ the get the best results from your new purchase), or your speaker load is such that it requires a different model in our line-up. AVR maximum wattage ratings can be useful for offering some idea as to how loud a speaker might go, but sound quality is generally determined by other factors. For more details on how to achieve a successful speaker/AVR pairing, we suggest speaking directly with the manufacturer of either the desired AVR or the speakers. Here is a link to the details on how to select Dynamic Volume and Dynamic EQ: https://manuals.denon.com/AVRX2800H/NA/EN/GFNFSYphwaueoj.php#OKNRMLviuvfmcr

Speaker array changed from older Denon models
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Denon makes a superior receiver that I have connected to my cable TV, Roku stick streaming service, and surround sound theater system. All work well , but my older (10-plus years) Denon receiver allowed for a more customizable speaker array than this current model, which only allows pre-set arrays.
