The Denon x3800h really sound great when watching movies. It has a different sound to it which made my music sound also wonderful. I ended up with the Denon x4800h for more power. The extra 20 watts made a big difference in sound and much clearer.

After my previous receiver quit working, I needed a replacement. Following several days of research online, I decided on the Denon AVR-X3800H. In its price range, it received consistently good reviews from its owners.
With its step-by-step guide, it was simple to setup my surround system, PS5, CD player, and turntable.
I've only owned the receiver for a relatively short time, but, so far, I'm quite satisfied with my purchase.
We know you had many options to choose from, and we thank you for choosing us. Happy listening!

I really loved the receiver with my epson 5040 and other components like computer, 4K player, ps5 and others everything works great and even setup the 4 height speakers still new to add the middle for the voice of god as they call it. Now not so good with my Sony 295 4k for some reason I cannot video to work I get sound but no picture. If I just hook projector and ps5 works with video but no sound. Really stress about this it’s either a setting or maybe needs an update.

Although it has a ton of features and compatibility with many audio and video formats for me the sound quality wasn’t really present specially at this price. I bought this unit along with the Marantz Cinema 60 that cost the same. After running the Audissey room corrections and testing different movies and music in different ways I can say the sound quality is good but not great, I didn’t feel like it was worth it’s price so I put it back in the box and installed the Marantz Cinema 60 which really made a difference. The sound quality of the Marantz in music and movies is very superior than this Denon. I’m happy with the Marantz I don’t recommend the Denon x3800h at this price.

I got this on sale to replace my older Denon 4311ci AVR in a 5.2 system in the living room. I have a X4800H in my theater running 9.4.2 setup, so I am familiar with Denon's AVRs. I was a little concerned that it is made in Vietnam and not Japan, like the 4800 (and most higher end Denon AVRs). Time will tell, but it has been great for the first week at least. I do intend to install some in-ceiling speakers in the living room bringing this to a 5.2.4 setup. I don't believe I will get Audyssey MultiEQ-X as I did in the theater with the 4800. That paid software allows you to really customize the calibration more thoroughly and accurately. With 4 18" subs in the theater, it is really important, but not as much in the living room with 2 12" subs for casual listening and watching TV.
For a budget theater, this is perfect. Probably overkill for a casual listener. Denon does a great job with firmware updates, their frequently updated HEOS app, and the network app that lets you control it from a PC, tablet or phone. Works pretty great and I use the app to check the status of things periodically.
I am not a gamer so can't really speak to that. Passes 4k HDR great if that's what you need. BTW, I still use the old 4311ci remote so that I wouldn't confuse my wife.
Finally, I'll add that I have a homemade cooler similiar to the AC Infinity stuff you can buy. I made my own with computer fans, and it is very easy to do. I feel that having a cooler on it gives me piece of mind that if something does happen, it will not be because it overheated.
In summary, well built and engineered. All the features you need for todays tech. Shouldn't have to upgrade for maybe 6-10 years.

The receiver has a lot of power with lots of options. The new interface is a big upgrade and easy to use. I can’t wait to add an external amplifier with the pre outs that’s available.

This has almost anything you will ever need. Lots of flexibility of use. Zone2,bi amp,pre amp, multiple LFE pre outs and many other configurations.
Sound quality is surprisingly good for a mid level multi channel AV receiver. It will do everything for most people. Some two channel music enthusiasts will want better two channel gear like myself but I'm happy with my purchase.
The downloadable manual is a little weak although so are most other AV receivers.

Sound quality is amazing the setup menu is great, only down side is if you have so many things connected the receiver automatically will turn on randomly, super annoying

i have receiver with polk r700 towers. Amp unit runs strong so volume output is very noticeable. Bass is punchy and drives 8-inch woofers well. However front part of chassis gets hot on top vent of unit. This denon replaced yamaha A6A i returned due to sound output issues.
Hello, I want to express my gratitude for your purchase and extend a warm welcome to the Denon Family. The AVR-X3800H has an HDMI board and multiple amplification channels, which may cause the unit to generate some heat. It's advisable to maintain a six-inch clearance at the top of the unit to ensure proper ventilation. If you require any assistance with your new unit, please don't hesitate to contact one of our Customer Support Team members. Denon Product Support: 800-497-8921 Thank you
