The Denon 2.1-Channel Soundbar is a surprising powerhouse built into a simple pared-down setup. The design of it is plain and unassuming with its lightweight plastic housing and fabric mesh grill; it looks cheaper than it sounds, but don’t let that fool you. In back, there are physical three inputs, and you’re limited to a single HDMI ARC, optical, and AUX-in, though you can also connect wirelessly over Bluetooth. The subwoofer is also wireless and pairs to the soundbar automatically, so you can place it anywhere you want in the room, but you can’t connect the sound system to your home WiFi network for streaming from other network devices.
The soundbar has a few physical button controls on top for power, changing the input, and volume adjustment, however, on the remote you can also adjust the bass volume level and choose from 3 EQ modes: movie, night, music, and/or 3 dialogue enhancer modes. The dialogue enhancement modes, while they do bring out dialogue in both TV programs and movies slightly, adds extra weight in the upper-mid ranges which can throw off the balance on music tracks, so I generally leave this setting ‘off’ or in mode 1. With the EQ modes, ‘movie’ tends to produce the most bass, ‘night’ the least, and ‘music’ mode falls somewhere in the middle with only slight, barely noticeable variations in the balance of the other ranges across the modes. For most TV and movie viewing, we leave the speaker in movie or music mode.
The sound, by far, is the standout feature. It’s clean and crisp with a good balance across the ranges. The bass is present without being over pronounced, and with the wireless subwoofer you can turn it up for some hearty vibrations for music with heavy bass tracks and movies with lots of explosive scenes. Even at the highest volume there was little to no distortion in the audio. As for left/right separation, thanks to Denon's Virtual Surround sound simulation, there’s some, and generally you get a sense of sound moving from one side of the screen to the other. This lets you enjoy movies with Dolby Digital and DTS Decoding from Blu-ray, DVD, DVB and other surround encoded media to approximate a multi-channel surround sound experience. However, the sound stage is somewhat narrow, and it’s not as distinct and well-placed as it would be with a true 5.1 surround sound system.
When adjusting the volume, since there is no LCD, the only feedback you get that it is working is a single flash of the tiny blue LED light in the front. When you hit the max volume it will blink 3 times quickly, but there’s no auditory tone to let you know you’re at the upper limit. However, when we’re using the soundbar with our projector, it’s usually located behind the viewer, so we can’t see the LED light for these visual cues; we just have to listen whether or not the volume sounds different. While the soundbar does support HDMI ARC so you can use your TV remote to control the volume, you’d be missing the other EQ functions of the Denon remote.
Overall, this soundbar and subwoofer made a great combo for upgrading the sound quality over the built-in speakers of our TV and projector. They don’t take up a lot of space, and fill our small living room with impressively clear sound quite adequately.

The time had come to get rid of the giant old speakers and sub. Was suspect of any soundbar but I was pleasantly surprised ! By no means gunna make the neighbors dogs bark like the old setup but sound is decent, bass is good enough to be satisfied ! Wife loves how the room is clean and seems bigger ! Get it on sale and enjoy !

This sound bar can keep up with the best of them. The Unboxing and set up is really easy. Read the directions and make sure to use the custom settings to get the best sound. The remote is small and can get lost so beware. The looks of this set are outdated but the good sound makes up for it. And of course don’t expect million dollar sound at 100% volume. This sound bar is more than enough for a bedroom and pretty good for a large living size space.

While the sound quality from this sound bar is not bad, it is not spectacular either (no "wow" factor). Having said that the clarity of speech is better than my old sound bar. The bass from sub woofer is hard to detect, there is certainly no "extra" bass present, just enough there so sound is not "tinny".
My biggest complaint is the lack of a display on the bar, and there also is no on screen display on the tv. So you never know which sound mode you are in, what volume level you are at, ect. The only indicator on the bar is a series of LEDs to indicate the input source, and even that is confusing (1 LED is TV, 2 LEDs is analog input, ect). For the cost of this sound bar I really don't understand the absence of the display.
The main features on this sound bar seem to be pointless. As in they don't appear to work or change anything. Has 3 different sound modes that all sound the same. Has 3 dialog enhancer modes that maybe have very slight differences but mostly sound the same. Turning the bass control all the way up or down seems to have no effect.
If this were a low budget sound bar I would accept all these issues. But for the price paid, overall this sound bar is very disappointing. It is however still better than your tv speakers...but there are less expensive bound bars that are also better than tv speakers. If I had the option would return this and try something else.

Upgraded old Samsung to a new fingle fangle one with all the do dads Apps etc. Also purchased a sound bar to go with Vizio (Noooooooo) OMG it was like looking at a
Bruce Lee the actors would talk first then the sound would come out last No, take it back. I bought 3 other brands after that, nothing worked. Went to the Culver City mall location and met the wonderful Juan. All he did was turned the volume up on the display and I was sold. Talk about Doby at the movies sound quality, shut it down. Bought it for $249 and warranty total $275-$290. For a 50 ties something female I highly recommend this item

I wanted to simplify my master bedroom tv system and get away from having a reciever, center and side floor speakers taking up so much room. I was excited to see this Denon soundbar go on sale and went for it. I installed it today after removing all the pre-mentioned equipment and I am very impressed. I have a older Sony tv that does not have ARC, so it was required that both optical and hdmi cables be connected in unison to operate through my tv. The sound is fantastic for the size of the soundbar and set up, along with everything synching together, was immediate and without issue. I really like that the controller has 3 different settings to allow adjusting voice dialog while watching movies..it works great. My direct tv controller managed the volume and mute instantly after setup. The wireless subwoofer does very well producing a deep bass while watching movies. I think for the price that this Denon soundbar is a perfect choice for a bedroom environment where the space required for a sound system is not a option. It also comes with a Factory 2 Year Warranty thru Denon.
A hmdi and optical cable and system remote control are included along with a template to wall mount your soundbar.

Sounds are very crisp, clear, and louder than my Sony TV. I was very surprised when I first heard this system in store and it did not disappoint in my home. Best part about this was the price point, which BB price matched Amazon at the time I purchased, was definately worth the quality. For a 2.1 channel soundbar and wireless subwoofer, this delivers.

I was amazed with the sound quality it produces feels likes in Dolby Atmos theater. Great product from Denon. I was exploring some sound bars in google got to know about Denon today and thought to give a try to replace my existing sound bar. Finally I got it and this is a kind of guy I was looking for. I recommend to everyone who are looking for low budget and value added quality sound bar for your home entertainment.

I bought this for my husbands birthday. We had been through several surround sound systems and he was never happy with any of them. I will admit my husband is extremely picky though. So I took a big chance and purchased this system. He absolutely loves this sound bar. The sound quality is incredible it really sounds like you are at the movies with this sound bar, and to have my husband completely satisfied with anything electronic is short of a miracle. I highly recommend this product.

This is a really good system, with clear sound. I like the capability that this system has, to enhance voices in movies without turning the volume up. The only thing that is a little annoying is sometimes it sounds like there is an echo even with the tv volume on low or zero, but it doesn't happen often.
Besides that, the system is nice. I am pleased with it.

I was trying to replace an old soundbar in my workout room. for some reason I was having very bad luck. I bought a few Samsungs but could never get them to work right even though I have a Samsung TV. We went to Best Buy and the associate recommended this one. Set up was easy and sound is perfect for a smaller sound bar.

I had a Denon receiver and loved it. I bought a new entertainment center and the receiver did not fit. I decided to go with a sound bar. I bought another brand and did not like it all. Returned it and purchase this one. Very happy with the sound. Very pleased. I love Denon.

Great sound for the price. I bought this sound bar to replace a Pioneer sound bar that I bought 6 years ago that no longer works. I was able to mount this to my wall and have it up and running in a very short time. I love the separate bass volume control on the remote

I have been procrastinating for quite some time and finally just decided to buy it. I'm happy I did. As far as 2.1 Channel soundbars go, this one is the way to go and just can't compare the sound quality and to any other 2.1 channel soundbar system out there.

This soundbar really sounds great! My only issue is it isn't wi-fi and for that reason I took it back. You can still bluetooth music to it but I've had wi-fi for so long and prefer it over the other. Definitely a good deal at this price.
