Soundbar out of this world

You will not regret this bar under your tv, probably one of the most amazing and involving sounds. Easy to install and to setup, just from the moment that you open the box, you see that you are in front of a quality device.
Two important items to be sure that this is the right product for you, your TV should have an eARC/ARC HDMi connecting port. While the bar works also with an optical cable, some of the functionalities (like the control with the TV remote) are lost. The second one is to use the app to bring the sound to the next level.
Before connecting the bar, I recommend downloading the app, creating your profile and adding the device, and connecting the bar to your phone. Most of the advanced settings are directly in there.
Powering the bar and connecting the cable to the tv is the last process of this nobrainer process. It’s true that you would need to adapt the TV sound setting to the cable that you are using to match the audio output. After that, the bar and the TV are mutually connected and controlled by your tv remote. Be aware that the bar, is not bringing a separate remote, if you use your HDMI, the TV remote will do it, if you are using an optical cable, the remote will be your phone/app.
The basic installation can not be simpler than connecting two sides of the wire. After that from the app, you will start to enjoy the different functionalities and types of sound delivered. My recommendation is also, to start by updating the firmware. After that, a self-calibration process is used by the bar to detect room sound reverberance and echo. The on/off and activation of the bass would allow you to reduce the bass return.
Dione can be installed on the wall (a template for installation is also available) or on a shelf.
A strongly recommended, purchase if the powerful image of your tv needs an evolving 5.1.2 immersive experience.
A plus, connecting Bluetooth with your phone, you can use the bar to reproduce music with the same interesting sound,

A great soundbar, with slight limitations

So, the Devialet Dione: a soundbar to replace a whole 5.1.2 sound system. Can it deliver on such promise? For me, I believe it gets most of the way there. Really is a 4.5 star review.
Let’s start off by talking about the unboxing and general feel of the Dione. There’s no way around it: the soundbar looks, feels, and is boxed like a premium product. The Dione features metal materials, and the mesh used to house some of the speakers is very fine, but seemingly rugged.
The sphere in the middle, housing the center channels, is something of a talking piece. I personally enjoy the design as it’s something different than you normally see. It’s also big and heavy; taking up the better part of a TV stand at nearly 48” long. This shouldn’t be a big deal for some, though, as you can also mount the Dione on a wall, which is great.
Once out of the box, setup is also straightforward, though you’ll have to use the Devialet app to finish putting it together. There is no physical remote used, and you’ll need a Devialet account as well, which may annoy some.
There are few ports to use on the back underside of the device: one HDMI eARC, one optical, one power, and one ethernet port. Some may scoff at this, but the reality is if you’re using a soundbar you should’t need a ton of connections.
Now that we’re connected, let’s talk about sound itself.
In one word, it’s wonderful. And boy, without bass reducer turned on, there is a ton of deep, low-end frequencies hit. Once you turn on the bass reducer, you’re met with a cleaner, slightly more detailed sound overall. The low notes are still there, but less punchy across all frequencies. In this case, it certainly improves the whole soundstage.
For music, the Dione performs very well. I wish there was more detail on the high frequency range, but the reality is the drivers perform darn good, and produce a clean, slightly refined and tight soundstage.
For movies without an Atmos audio track, the Dione is the least effective. According to Devialet, the Dione will upmix all 5.1 basic Dolby Digital mixes to Atmos, but I found this effect to be mediocre, at best. I tested this with Mad Max: Fury Road across two different audio mixes, and the Atmos one was far better at utilizing all 17 speakers inside the Dione to create an engulfing sound experience.
For movies/shows with an Atmos audio mix, though, the Dione did an admirable job at recreating the height and side/back speakers you’d expect from a true 5.1.2 Atmos setup. Watching Andor on Disney+ really highlighted this for me, as ships and blaster fire was being thrown around the TV room with haste and true sound.
Remember the sphere in the middle of the Dione that handles all dialogue? Well, that center channel is probably the highlight of the Dione. Dialogue is so clear and crisp that, at times, you can hear the ruffling of jackets/coats on the main people on screen. Just like the bass and low-end, Devialet seems to have found the formula for dialogue.
One nice part of the Dione is there is a 2-year warranty offered, which is something you don’t always see with soundbars. In my short experience with customer service they were great as well.
So, overall, I think there’s a real reason to consider the Dione if you fit into a semi-specific category of people. The sound produced is fantastic, the low-end is legit rivaled by no other soundbar, and the dialogue is almost too clear at times. There’s no DTS:X support, but for most this isn’t going to be an issue. The inclusion of a bass-reducer toggle in the latest firmware update helps a lot to tighten up sound, though I still hope to see some other ways to tweak the sound moving forward.
I’d definitely recommend the Dione to anyone searching for a premium soundbar experience, though to know about it’s little shortcomings from the start.

Amazing sound once you get it setup. The reason why i gave the soundbar 4 stars is because the devialet app for android tends to be a pain for the setup and it would not go through i got tired of trying. I had tried my other android phones and tablet to get it done and still would not finish the setup. Only my sis has an iphone who came over to let me use it to set it up. After this then i was able to complete the setup and wow this soundbar has amazing sound. Devialet really needs to get the android app to work because its a shame such an expensive product with awesome features and sound is handicapped without the app. So what the app does is help fill the room with the properly tuned sound I used it without going through with the app and it was really good but the app does add on to that . What surprised me is the sound feeling like it comes from different location. Add dolby atmos to it and any video source that supports dolby atmos just add another layer of amazing sound . You can use the tv remote to control the volume . Turn off or on the tv and the soundbar turns on as well. Just connect the soundbar to the correct hdmi port usually labeled ARC and you're good to go.

True, Clear Sound and Exceptional Quality

This soundbar is excellent and top-of-the-line.
One of the first things I noticed when listening to the audio from this sounder - whether it be from a movie or streaming music - is the fantastic clarity. I heard nuances in instrumentation, slight breaths in singing. Action scenes in movies had depth and range - without being overly heavy in the bass. The sound coming out the Dione is an experience...but you have to use it correctly.
For one, the system really sounds best when connected to HDMI/(e)ARC with sources that support the higher-end Dolby audio standards. But even streaming music via bluetooth or AirPlay was just a simply pleasant experience.
One other benefit of using eARC was that it allows simplicity of control. The Dione has no remote control (relying on the TV's audio control) and any configuration will need to be done via a company app. Such things usually annoy me, but the Devialet app is...OK. You can set the "Bass reducer mode" (but no option to control how much reduction) and if you're using optical, you'll need the app to adjust the volume.
The app also has a tool called "Room Calibration." This is pretty cool in concept, although I admit I couldn't tell much of a difference after I ran it. That said, when I moved the soundbar to another (smaller) room, the calibrated difference was every-so-slightly more perceptible to me.
But all of this leads to the biggest question of all: the price. Yes, it's very expensive; but the build quality is top-notch (the soundbar is quite heavy, actually) and the overall quality of sound is what one would expect from Devialet. At the end of the day, one can probably find less expensive options that sound just as good; but as it stands, I'm really enjoying the sound coming from the Dione and I'm quite happy with it.

Does not work with LG eARC HDMI

Sounds fantastic when it’s working, but according to devialet there is a ‘handshake issue’ with LG HDMI outputs. They figured this out after replacing mine once.
