I remember when I got a copy of the original Diablo demo that was leaked so many years back. It was ground breaking and all I wanted to do was play it over and over. Diablo II carried the torch forward and the following expansions to me were equally as exciting. Diablo III could and I believe should be so much more than it is. I understand the reason why Blizzard did what it did - if it isn't broke, don't fix it! However, this saying doesn't always ring true especially with almost a decade between Diablo II and Diablo III. This is just my take on this game and I fell it worth mentioning that I am a Blizzard fan, but sometimes even your best friend can mess up and warrant some criticism. On to the review: Graphics - The game looks "nice" to be sure, but the graphics are a bit outdated. Remember, this game has been in development for quite some time and I think what happened is they took too long to release and outdated themselves. Characters - Shame on you Blizzard for not letting people create a character appearance. My 10 year old son sums this up best as I suggest he play a Barbarian, "I don't want to play as an old man!" and honestly I don't either. Take what they give you or leave it, but you will have some troubles getting into most of the characters. Game play - This is true Diablo and I think it was wise to leave this part of the game alone. It would have been nice to have the option to skip having to play to the game in "normal" mode before getting to the good stuff though. I think it is cool that Blizzard wanted to make the game accessible to new game players by toning the difficulty down at start, but for those familiar to the series it only promotes racing through the game to get to the good stuff. For those who do not know, Blizzard has stated that 70% of the gear and drops available in Diablo III are not even an option until you hit the next mode of game play. Audio - Overall the music and voice acting are right on par with Blizzard quality. Bottom Line: The game is playable and once through the normal mode I am sure will open up and offer new challenges. Overall the Diablo feel that was in the first two games of the series is missing and without being to create a character you can relate to, this only further takes away from the game. Diablo III for me is not a rush home after work because I cannot wait to play kind of game. For a game so long in the making, you would think it would redefine top down RPG games, but clearly does not do this at all. To do it all over again knowing what I know now, I would have saved the money spent on two copies of the game and a game guide and waited for it to drop in price, but it is what it is. Side Note - This was factored into my review, but is worth mentioning. Blizzard is having a lot of issues with the servers and they quite frequently are taken down or restarted for one reason or another. I'm sure the servers are overwhelmed and with each day passing, this should get better and better. You will notice some character lag from time to time as everything is stored on the server. Remember, to play the game you must be connected to battle.net and the issues they are having will effect your game play until they have it all fixed.

Fun and challenging for a while

It's a fun and challenging game. There are overpowered items that can remove the challenge. However, after one play through on Normal mode, you have seen most of the content. You unlock higher difficulty modes (Nightmare, Hell, and Inferno) with each character separately as you complete the game. It is my exoerience you need better gear with every difficulty mode you play through. Somewhat unfortunately, the gear you need may not be available in the mode you are playing in. Often you must purchase gear from the in-game auction house (either using in-game gold you have collected, or with real money). There are 5 different classes (barbarian, demon hunter, monk, wizard, and witch doctor). You have (I think) 8 character slots to play with as you like. Each class has different attributes and skills, as well as some gear restrictions. It suggest you play 10-15 minutes of the first quest/act with eah class to find one that suits you. All in all, it's a fun game during the first playthrough. I find limited entertainment return as you play through the different difficulty modes. And the need to acquire better gear to compete becomes a grind. Lastly, there is no PvP, or at least not yet! I have no idea if it will be offered with an update.

    OK game

The game is fun for casual players and maybe those who have not played the previous Diablo games. Lots of fun fighting random mobs and killing demons. The new skill system is pretty nice letting u choose up to 6 skills to use instead of 2, it gives u more variety of skills to use and create more different ways to play. Giving each class a different source of power instead of them all using Mana pools was a great idea and makes more sense. It makes the game a bit more unique adding different power sources like fury for a barbarian would make more sense for a bashing type of class to build of rage instead of using mana? The AH is ok, needs some improvement as some people sell things for ridiculous prices. The REAL CURRENCY AH is not out yet, but I expect it to be a bit more of P2W (pay to win). At least it will secure you from not getting BAN from buying items/gold from third party websites, unlike D2, where people would often buy endgame items from spamming sites. Overall the game gets repetitive and can get boring. Fun for casual players, people who only play games once a while for fun, have a life and go out with friends, etc Hardcore games who stay at home and play games all day. NOPE don't but this game

    A little disappointed

Unless you have been a long time fan of Diablo and played Diablo 2 LOD a lot, you wont understand exactly where I'm coming from. The over all game of D3 is awesome. I love how they kept the barb and how they continued the crazy awesome story line. Bringing back the old legends like Cain and Tyreal really takes you back to the good ol' D2 times. However, I have come to realize that D3 is overly structured and essentially made so that all you have to do is level up and find your items. Sounds like every game right? Wrong. Remember how in D2 you could have multiple different paladins? One could be a hammerdin, another a smiter, FOH pally, etc. No more customizing your characters in D3. Your skills are all chosen for you and therefore once you've made one monk, you've made them all. When it comes down to it, the skill set in D3 sucks. Its just too boring :/ It would also be nice if they would bring back tps because check points are just so annoying and theres nothing more annoying than having to run all the way through a map again just to get back to where you were. Hope this review gives you some insight!

    Doubted product

Let me start with this. I am huge fan of Diablo and Diablo 2 series, with over 100's hours of game play. Hopefully all the fans will pleased with this new release. However there are some doubts. First of all. There is something sketchy about environment, no offence but to it looks cheesy. The darkness of environment and landscapes is faded out. Probably need more details to cover up that cartoonish look. Second is the music, and third is the richness of the loot. I don't know much about it, but I’m hoping it won't fail consumer expectations (D1/D2 fans). Why so much negativity? Well I've been very disappointed in best titles remakes lately. I hope Blizzard will not compromise the quality of the game in order to release it earlier.

Diablo III was to much like Diablo II

I have been a hardcore Diablo fan since the first one came out. I did enjoy playing Diablo III, but it was just to easy to go through the game beating everything with little difficulty. Blizzard in my opinion did a disservice to us hardcore fans of Diablo by not having better graphics and a story line that was to close to that of Diablo II. I waited a long time for this new game to come out and was hoping for a better gaming experience then what I got from this game. Even with the pit falls of the game, it is still recommended by me to any one that is just starting out in playing Diablo, for it would be challenging enough for them to keep their interests throughout the game.

    Game Long Overdue

Blizzard initially was to release Diablo 3 in 2006 but was placed on back burner to re-establish a better playing style while working and updating World of Warcraft their winning bread maker. (Honest I don't think Blizzard wanted to put time into D3 ). D3 process took MORE than 5 years just to get to the Beta stage. My expectations is this product won't be as good as WoW and previous Diablo 2 followers will not commit to D3 after Blizz failed to Support the Consumers with the Original series. Only Time will Tell if D3 will make or break.

Hate having to being connected to the internet

I love the gameplay. It is, for the most part, what I expected from Blizzard. However, having to remain connected to the internet blows. I work in remote areas of the country where I remain 24 hrs a day and have very limited satellite internet speed, so during my time off, I am unable to play. I also know diehard Diablo fans who do not have internet access at home, so they can' play the gave. I deducted 2 stars for required internet.

I got this hoping it would be something to play for a long time. However, I stopped playing after a couple months because I beat the game. I didn't find hardcore to be as hardcore as Diablo 2 was. Also, XBOX 360 players have better stats on the same exact gear to pacify their need to destroy things in one shot. I don't think I will buy the expansion, but we'll see. I also don't like how it only allows you to play with 4 friends total, and the DRM requires online at all times.

Diablo III is a decent game and not a bad deal at $20. The game is not challenging unless you make some dumb mistakes or have severe lag. The graphics look good, but nothing spectacular. The game is easy to control, with the controls simplified compared to other games in its subgenre. Overall, Diablo III is not a bad game, but Diablo II and Path of Exile are still better games in this subgenre than Diablo III is.

Horrible, do not waste the money. No offline mode makes the game terrible with the terrible servers blizzard has. Blizzard put making money over the customer which is complete fail. I would not recommend this game to anyone, what a disappointment.

If ignore those harsh criticisms, it is a good game. Of course it above average level, but, unfortunately, its former is Diablo 2, a legend on the history of PC game. May be this comparison is unfair, but I do not think Diablo 3 worth $60, $30 is a reasonable price.

For all the diablo fans, this is a must have since it continues the series. The animation is great and so are the cut scenes. The biggest problem with the game is that you need to constantly have internet connection in order to play. There is also no LAN

Was expecting Blizzard to make the game more exciting and harder to pass. But instead they made it easier and deleted the ability to do some few things from the last game Diablo 2.
