My first introduction to DJI products was the spark and I couldn’t believe its abilities for something so small. I then moved on to the mini (1st gen) due to its size and weight. I still have the mini and though I like it, I missed some of the features that the spark had that the mini didn’t. With the Air 2S I get those features back and then some! The abilities of this drone are truly amazing, it can make even a novice look good when shooting and recording video in a minimum amount of time. Setting up the Air 2S was the easiest of the 3 owned. One huge change from the mini was attaching the propellers, the Air 2S uses a twist and lock propeller. This is such a welcome change from the mini that has propellers held on by screws. Attaching and detaching on the Air 2S is so quick and simple. The video and photo quality of the Air 2S is truly breathtaking. The new 1 inch CMOS sensor takes incredible photos even at night. When zooming in on photos that I took on my tablet the amount of detail they still have is amazing. The Air 2S has digital zoom but only available when in video mode. In 1080p you can zoom up to 8x and in 4K 30 4x. You can’t zoom in when in 4K 60 or 5.4K. The Air 2S has so many cool features and abilities when taking photos and videos, but my favorite has to be Asteroid. It takes a circular panorama video and it’s just extremely cool when you see it! Operating a drone can be a little scary when you first get into them. The Air 2S makes it a little less scary with some of its new safety features and sensors. The biggest one to me is ABD-S. It alerts you when aircraft such as a plane or a helicopter is operating in the airspace near you. A small but nice little accessory that is included is an adapter that will allow you to use the batteries to charge a phone, tablet or both. Its easy to see why DJI is a leader in the consumer drone space with products like the Air 2S. If you’re getting into drones and want something that has amazing photo and video quality, I can’t recommend the Air 2S enough.

This unit comes well boxed and includes everything needed for hours of flying enjoyment. Three batteries are included and they all can be plugged into the charger at the same time. However, only one charges at a time and the next battery automatically charges at the conclusion of the previous one. There are several extra sets of propellers and they click on place easily and are color coded to verify correct placement. The drone is well made and durable. The propeller shafts fold from a compact position to ready to fly in smooth movements. The camera gimbal cover provides very good protection in transit. The remote fits your hands well and the removal sticks are easy to control. It would be nice if the phone holder extended further to better fit larger phones. The tutorial on the app provides all the basic information to get you flying quickly. The fun begins once you have everything charged and easily configured. The drone can take off on it's own or manually. Manual take-offs are smooth even in light to moderate wind. The first day I flew it the winds were around 10 mph and it was barely noticeable in flying. Minimum and maximum altitudes can be set. Mine was set at 400 feet maximum altitude and the drone would not fly above that height. When you are ready to bring it back the return to home will fly to your preset return altitude and gradually descent back to where you started. The legs are very short so you need to be careful landing in grass that is not cut short. The gem of this drone is the camera. Pictures and video are super high quality. Even an a beginner like me can get professional looking pictures. The camera is on a gyro that keeps it level no matter the orientation of the drone. The camera can be scrolled up and down or immediately pointed forward or down with a double tap of a button. It uses microSD cards and a 128gb card only used about 14gb with about 2 hours of flying. You can release all controls and the drone will hover stable allowing you to concentrate on getting the perfect picture and video. The display shows both the current altitude of the drone and the distance it is away from you. If you have the license, and are comfortable enough, it can be flown up to a seven mile range. Preprogrammed routes can be set to be flown and the crash avoidance gives you the piece of mind to fly it to the limit. If you are a beginner or professional you cannot go wrong with this drone. It is compact, durable, stable, professional quality and easy to take anywhere. It is not cheap, but you get the highest quality for what you pay.

I cannot say enough great things about the DJI Air 2s Combo. As a photographer and an owner of a previous DJI Mavic Pro, the Air 2s is awesome. The controller has a built-in grip for your cell phone to fit in, the cord is already in that area. So for me, that means I didn't have to attach another item to my controller to make my phone fit (Due to my case). It came with extra props, it came with three batteries, a battery charger that can charge the three batteries plus the controller. The controller battery has outlasted all three batteries. The batteries all lasted around 30 minutes or so for flight time, but switching them out was super easy. If you're not familiar with some of the drone capabilities, it's very easy to use all of them. One of my favorite things to do is the tracking feature, all you do is trace an outline on your phone around the person/ object you want to track, click which track you wish to use, and click go...All of this takes less than 15 seconds. The obstacle avoidance is great. Even while tracking, it seems to be working well. I had it tracking a subject when it was less than 10 feet off the ground (The drone was, the object was on the ground). I used the Cinema mode along with the "Pro" settings for the photographs attached. The photographs attached were not edited, these are straight from the drone. Also, the ND filters make things so much easier, they are very simple to put on and take off. Oh yeah, and one last thing, it comes with its bag to carry the ND filters, charger, controller, and Drone. It's a soft case shoulder carry, but still great. At this time, I have absolutely no complaints about this drone, I'm beyond impressed and ecstatic about using it.

Wow. Just Wow. Amazing. I have not owned a DJI Drone before, so the DJI Air 2S is my first experience. I am simply awestruck about how cool and amazing the DJI Air 2S is. The Fly More combo is perfect. It comes with (almost) everything. By almost, all you really need to buy is a micro SD card but everything else - 3 batteries, carry case, charger, USB to C, USB to lightning, etc. cables, spare blades, lens filters, etc. It's got EVERYTHING. I charged the batteries overnight. Curiosity got the better of me before I left the house, and I am glad it did as there was a firmware update (easy enough to install). Which is all installed using the (free) DJI Fly up. I also recommend you get the FAA B4UFLY app (free) to triple-check flight restrictions in your area. You should also register your drone with the FAA. For our test flights, we drove to the nearest beach with a park. You will want some space for your first go. The collision detection and all the sensors will help protect you. But wide-open green space with some cool stuff nearby is the best place to start. Especially if you want to test things like Rocket Mode and Asteroid mode. The last is my favorite! We took a ton of videos and photos. Cinema mode gives you the best-nuanced control for really smooth shots. The person tracking was fun and we were going to do some great outdoor action shots but it rained on our second day. You get incredible distance and crystal clear quality on your screen. Just thinking back about how we were flying it around and having fun, well it makes me laugh because the DJI 2S is such an amazing product. Some key thoughts. It flies incredibly high, 100+ meters. I tried to give you some photos so you could see. The camera control is easy, as is the DJI software. It's much quieter than previous drones I have seen or borrowed from friends. The broadcast distance is so good and there's no lag. It's also very beginner-friendly. I had no problems letting my kid use it because the crash detection and automatic return to home buttons just give you so much peace of mind. Honestly, I am in love with the DJI 2S. I can promise you will too. Just grab a large microSD card because the first time you get it you won't be able to stop recording videos and taking photos.

I'm a new drone enthusiast. Well new in the sense that my first drone was the Mavic Air 2, released in May of 2020; when the 2s came up for review, I was all over it. So, if there are a bunch of comparisons here, I’m sorry in advance. I took videos, comparing the 2 & 2s as I have both. They’re clearly labeled - so check them out if you are interested: https://bit.ly/32X70EB (YouTube / NH Techie). Feel free to comment on the videos because I can’t reply to comments on the review! I’ve also uploaded some Panoramas: https://bit.ly/32U9802 - just look for 2s in the name (there are Air 2 panos up there). In comparing the two from a novice’s perspective - I was a bit confused with the new version, primarily: Less flight time Fewer megapixels My first thought: surely there's something incorrect there. That led me to DJIs site for some explanation - and now it makes sense. To get 45MP on the Air 2, they played with the pixels (gotta love technology) due to a smaller (5/8) sensor. Now, with a full 1” sensor on the Air 2s, 20MP is expected to have much better zoom clarity and details. That being said -- I was excited for the larger sensor: more light, better image (is the theory). After unboxing, I charged each battery independently & not on the charging strip included in the “Fly More” bundle. If you’re new to this drone, it’s important because the batteries need to be “activated” and that doesn’t happen on the strip; you can cause yourself some support calls if you pop right to the charging strip and expect all to be well. While charging the first battery, I also charged the controller off the power brick & included USB-C cable. The controller took around 1h 40m (100 minutes) and the battery ... around 2 hours to finish. Now, the specs talk about a greater distance but lower flight time. I’m not Part 107 Certified, so I fly under a recreational provision and don’t go very far with it. Also, I have limited VLOS (visual line of sight), so I tend to fly around fields and close to the house so 14km isn’t really on the table for me. But, with 3 batteries in the “fly more package,” close to 30 minutes per battery is fine for me. I must note, that the 2s does eat more battery than the Air 2 in an equal fly time (see video!). The setup was quite annoying, to be honest. I fly a Mavic Air 2 and the Android version of the Go Fly App didn’t have any updates - therefore, the Air 2s didn’t show up as a drone that I could add. To sum it up, you have to go to the DJI site where and download an APK file and install it - totally non-standard & can’t get updates this way. This will be a major bump for those that aren’t so Android savvy outside of normal day-to-day phone usage. Play time -- Flight Time - right on par with the expectations … around 30 minutes (or like 28ish). When I received the drone, there were some of the windiest and wettest days of the Spring - so I was in a bit of a risky rush to get some footage - but then the weather broke & I could get some good shots! As we can’t upload videos here, I got Best Buy’s approval to add all videos I take with the Drone to my YouTube channel (also noted above): https://bit.ly/32X70EB -- don’t forget about the images attached to the review. So now, onto the drone features themselves: Picture Clarity - so much cleaner than the Air 2 from the phone (controller) or in image/video. That 1” sensor makes a TON of difference. SCORE! They added 5k video -- which is great and takes a toll on battery life & the size of the videos. I took some screenshots to show side-by-sides; save some reading & do some looking. Some things to note: The “Normal” speed mode on the Air 2s is FASTER than the Air 2. So, making a move from one to the other - use the break as it gets going fast & takes longer to stop. Ask me how I know. ::cough:: flew into a bush ::cough:: Software: Active Track is “OK” - it’s not really a sport drone, so if you’re not making sudden or fast movements it’ll work fine. Use it in an open area where trees won’t interfere with ‘who it’s tracking.’ Panorama shots are quite slick! Via SkyPixel: https://bit.ly/32U9802 The app and website are easy to use -- no complaints there. Pros / Nice changes from Air 2: Upward facing sensors - no more clipping tree branches Extra control sticks Air 2 batteries are upward-compatible New gimbal cover - easier to snap on / take off Orange tipped / low noise propellers Cons: Unexpectedly faster than the Air 2 (con? Eh, debatable). Control sticks rubber grip slips a bit as you’re tightening them on ~ $300 more than last year’s model App only available via DJI’s servers, not the Google Play Store (no auto-updates) Do I recommend this drone? Absolutely. Even if you’re ‘kind of’ interested in taking pictures / videos with a drone -- the “smart” pictures the Air 2s takes are fantastic. Add some more plus marks for the 4k/5k capabilities. Don’t discount the ability to Zoom during a video shoot, as it absolutely shows you things you didn’t know you could see. Love it. Get it. Enjoy it. Don't crash it.

Amazing Drone for Pros and Hobbyists

The DJI Air 2S with the fly more combo is an amazing deal. I have been flying drones as a hobbyist for about 2years now and I live in the DC area which is one of the hardest places to get ATC authorization to fly. My drone of choice was the Mavic mini, but I always wanted to upgrade to the Air series of drones. Now that I have upgraded, I am glad that I did.   The first thing I like about the Air 2S is the controller. Just like previous versions, I must use my phone as the viewfinder. However, with the Air 2S controller the phone is on top of the controller instead of below it. Also, the controller lasts a lot longer, has more range and there is virtually no lag between what the drone sees and what I see.  Another thing I like is the 1-Inch 5.4K camera sensor. For a hobbyist like me this camera sensor is a little overkill but if you are planning to go pro and do some Part 107 work, this is the camera you need. This sensor takes some of the best footage I have ever seen on a drone. In my opinion, every shot, regardless of lighting condition was extremely sharp and color accurate.  Then there are the obstacle avoidance and tracking sensors. These are the main reasons to upgrade to this drone. If you have ever flown without any sensors, you would understand how easily a tree branch, street sign or change in land grade can pop up out of nowhere. With obstacle avoidance you still need to be mindful of these things, however, they do not creep up out of nowhere. with the Air 2S, you get an audible alarm and visual references to assist you in avoiding crashes. But there is one drawback to having so many sensors and that is noise. The sensors work really well but sometimes they detect and alert on benign things in the flight area that won't affect your flight. Hearing the alarm can be startling at times especially when you did not expect anything to be there.  Active track is another reason to upgrade to this drone. With active track you can follow subjects and keep them centered in the camera shot. Which makes flying the drone and getting a great shot a lot easier. Because all you need to do is fly and the camera does an amazing job of taking care of the rest. As for the Fly more combo, I highly recommend buying this version. The extra batteries, propellers, carry bag and ND filters will pay for themselves in the long run. With all that being said, please make sure you do your research on where you intend to fly before buying any drone. Some places are highly regulated and there are a lot of places where you are not allowed to fly. Sometimes, like in my case, my own backyard is a no drone zone which means I need to travel to have some fun. Otherwise, the DJI Air 2S is the most capable drone I have flown, and I would highly recommend it for anyone with ambitions of flying professionally. If you are a hobbyist like me, this drone may be a little overkill, but you will still love it and be glad you bought it.

This is my first time ever owning and flying a drone. Let me tell you I was very nervous about flying for the first time. After watching a few videos I thought it’s now or never. DJI has done such a great job with the software it is easy to pick up and start flying. The app guides you on take off and landing. After my first time flying I was immediately hooked! I couldn’t wait to learn more and with the DJI Air 2s there is plenty more that you can learn with the tech that is packed into this thing. Let’s talk about build quality. It’s lightweight and feel really durable. In fact after flying it a couple of times I got the confidence to put it in sport mode which turns off all the safety sensors I crashed it into a tree causing it to fall to the ground and when I picked it up there was only a few minor scratches. It flew perfectly fine right after that scary experience, needless to say I will be getting more practice before I do that again. It’s a very quality built piece of technology. The fly more kit I got came with 2 extra batteries, 6 pairs of propellers, remote control, 4 ND filters, battery charging hub and a shoulder bag which everything fits nicely in. Now for the flying experience, this thing is smooth in the air and very nimble. Controls are really responsive and intuitive. In normal mode it really takes care of most of the risks when flying. I took it to 400’ in the air and this thing held stable like a champ. It’s just a joy flying this thing around. Now for the camera, this thing takes amazing shots. It even has preset modes and will do everything for you if you are a beginner. The results are amazing and come out really professional. I am just scratching the surface. For someone who is a beginner like me the master shots mode made me look like a pro. Overall for my first time owning a drone DJI has got me hooked and I can’t wait to dive in deeper into the world of drone flying.

Amazing Drone with a possible issue for pros

Overall DJI is without a doubt in my mind a premium product. The drone itself feels of a quality material, a good weight, and a fantastic camera. On paper it’s amazing. For better context, the Apple in the drone industry. The fly more combo comes with a quality carrying bag along with some extra propellers, dock charger and 3 battery packs. Quite honestly, the extra batteries would be enough reason for me to buy the fly more bundle over the standalone variant. 1 battery pack doesn’t seem to go long enough as it’s a little too much fun to fly it around while photographing your surroundings. Additionally, charging would need to be done through the drone. Flying is pretty straightforward, even for a novice. To add context, it’s crash avoidance systems will assist enough to prevent crashes. It isn’t foolproof however, run full speed at an object and it will make contact. Some level of competency would be needed to help the avoidance systems prevent a crash. Lucky for most the DJI Fly app offers a customisable stick layout so there’s a configuration to suit everyone. Flight time for me has been roughly 25 minutes. DJI states 31 but I assume this was hovering in a closed room with no wind blowing against the drone before RTH (return to home) kicked in. It comes feature packed with several, awesome, recording modes from FPV, object tracking, and your standard click to record. Tracking so far has been one of my favorites, which seems to have some issues. Now, camera quality. I’m far from what I would refer to as a professional behind a lens, more of a hobbyist that needed to learn a little of photography and gradually developed an interest in the subject. Now I fully enjoy it. That said, the pro mode camera settings are a joy to work with and a welcome feature. Construction Solid build quality. I won’t assume I know the exact composition of the material used in its construction but from feel alone I’m fairly confident in saying it's made to last. It’s strong yet light. A tap of the nail doesn’t return a tin like sound. Propellers, even though they have a light feel, they maintain a level of flex that would allow them to take a hit and not break. Features The Air 2S comes packed with lots of features into one small package. The most obvious, 4K. Several recording features from various motion tracking options such as a follow object mode, vertical lift object tracking, circle and spiral object tracking, a pull away while climbing tracking mode, and a pull away at a fixed altitude then toward while gaining altitude. Just to clarify, these aren't the names the software gives them. All of those are rolled into what DJI calls “mastershots” and “quickshots”. It comes with an internal 8gb of storage, which for getting your feet wet with the drone is enough. Not necessarily enough to be capturing 4k videos however. The camera comes with an auto or pro mode which lets you set the camera settings to whatever you choose for the optimal shot. Performance The Air 2S is snappy if set to sport. No noticeable delay when you tilt either stick, it responds immediately. It offers great range and does not show any signs of signal loss at larger distances. Granted the furthest I’ve been able to send it is about 200ft and roughly 1 mile away in order to keep a line of sight of it. The specs give it roughly a 5 mile distance. Most tracking features work as intended. My only noticeable issue has been with the circular motion tracking. It tends to lose sight of the object just as its about to complete its turn shifting its sights above the object. A quick search online revealed to me that this isn't my observation only but several other users have come across the same issue. In the most extreme cases, the issue can be considered a safety hazard while using the follow tracking mode which seems to lose its target if it comes to a sudden stop. The drone tends to charge at the object not realizing the object is no longer in motion. I personally have not attempted to recreate this but this seems like an issue if you want it to record yourself as you skate or something similar. However, besides my slight issue with the tracking feature losing it’s target there are no issues with the performance of the drone.

I will preface by saying I have owned several drones including the newest FPV, however the Air 2S does the best job in so many ways! This drone is so easy to use! You can just pick a person or object and the camera will stay focused on that as you fly around. Makes for such cool shots! The range is also unbelievable, I took the shots below from over a mile away! Normally I would start losing connection at this point but the new tech in this drone makes longer distance flights much more reliable. These photos were also taken on a very cloudy day and the new 1 inch sensor lets in so much light! It feels to good to be true, but I am really enjoying the Air 2S!
