I bought the stand alone mavic pro so I bought the extra battery separately. I'm not a professional videographer so in a practical sense one battery might be enough. I typically stop on the way home from work or school and stop for about a half hour to fly and take pictures and video. The only time I've used both batteries is when I've taken my kids with me and they all take turns. The battery does have a cool feature where if you tap the button it will give you estimate of how much charge the battery has. Since I have 2, I usually fly until I drain the battery then swap out and use the fresh one next time I fly. I'll charge the spent one and keep it in the camera bag in case I feel like flying longer. Pay attention to the warnings that come with the battery. There is limit in temperature that these batteries will operate. Too hot or too cold and the battery will drain and/or not function properly. This can lead to lost or damaged drone. If you're a pro or semi pro you probably want to have 2 spares to allow yourself plenty of time to create.

    Mavic Pro Battery by DJI

Buying batteries for today’s drones is fairly simple. You typically can only buy your specific battery made by the manufacturer. That isn’t the case with the Mavic Pro. Today, there are aftermarket manufacturers producing batteries for it. As a longtime DJI product user, I can tell you that buying their batteries is the way to go. Returns are super easy should you happen to be one of the very few to get a defective unit. Plus, there are no issues should you have to update the firmware. Ask yourself, do I want to save a few bucks on my battery only to lose my drone during flight or spend the extra on a product that you know will work? I have my Mavic Pro battery by DJI for a little while now. It works just like the one that came with it. No surprise there. Glad I chose to buy at Best Buy. They did not charge me full price because they knew it was being sold elsewhere for less. So they price matched my purchase without even being asked! Where else can you get that sort of service?

These batteries are the standard for MavicPros. They work well, allowing flight time of about 22 minutes (in my experience) depending on wind conditions and flight patterns you are using. I have not been able to fly for the advertised 27 minutes, but 22 is not bad. You can easily get all the shots you need in 22 minutes of flying. Another thing to consider is that the "low battery" warning will start annoying you when you still have 5 minutes left on the battery. You can easily ignore this warning, but it's in your best interest to start your return flight home when this happens.

I purchase a few of these batteries and I had 1 go bad (outside of the warranty period). I really don't fly much and the big issue I had was that the battery went bad after very little use (only a few cycles). I kept it topped up and in my bag. When the battery goes bad, it won't let you fly, so the battery is completely useless. I had to fight with DJI, but I finally convinced them to provide a replacement, so kudos for that, but it shouldn't have happened in the first place.

      Hi Bar73,

We're bummed to hear that you had a poor experience with the Mavic Pro battery. Sometimes lithium batteries can have a cell die, and when you combine that with an expensive aircraft - it's better to keep that aircraft on the ground. DJISupport

These batteries seem to be very good so far. they seem more intelligent than the previous aircraft's batteries and thus they may last longer. I have heard that these don't do past 6-8 months before getting bulgy and bad. Only time will tell but the two I have seem fine at this time. They also seem to last the specified time in the aircraft which is great. With the two I have I can get almost an hour of flight time which is usually sufficient to get some great footage from a spectacular viewpoint!

This battery is the same as what comes with the DJI Mavic Pro. You will need a spare because having only a 20 minute flight time is probably not enough time to get your video/photo set up, take all the video footage you need and be done. The second battery extends your flight time by double! Also, for the price the flight time is about the same as the Phantom 4 but costs less. Do not buy cheap chinese batteries because the drone may not accept it and could shut off mid-flight. NOT GOOD. the DJI original equipment should be bought for the DJI original Mavic Pro.

Got my battery and it works fine. Used it once or twice. Only issue I had was that it looked… dirty. Hard to explain but it was a little dingy. I plugged it into my mavic after fully charging it and the battery status was fine and checks out. The serial number gives me no indication that it was a refurbished unit. Also the battery and box have matching serial numbers as well. Probably not the fault of Best Buy. Just my experience. If I purchase another battery it will probably be through Best Buy again.

Having at least 1 extra battery for the DJI Mavic Pro is a Must if you really want to enjoy yourself flying. The maximum time on ideal circumstances of these batteries is 27 minutes, but by the time you adjust all the settings before takeoff and fight strong winds you're lucky if you get 18 minutes of flight time. Having at least one additional is absolutely necessary. The battery is light and compact, so it won't add much additional bulk, plus it's a smart battery so it will records lots of flying data that might be useful to have.

This item works as designed and it's a great batter. But it's way better to get the fly more combo when purchasing a drone, for the money you get much more accessories than buying them later on. DON'T buy a DJI drone without getting extra batteries or the fly more combos. you will need them if you plan to use the drone for more than 15 minutes.

Okay, cards on the table, I got an email from Best Buy offering 25 Reward points for a review of a Mavic battery so here I am, but there's not a ton to say. It's kind of a yes or no thing. Is it a working Mavic battery? If so, 5 stars, if not 1 star. So... Five stars! That said you really can never have enough of these things - in fact I'll likely use the 25 points from this review towards another Mavic battery... And then another review and another 25 points and another...

At this point you are probably better off getting an off brand battery, I had mine go bad after less then 8 full charge cycles and unless its under 6 months old you just have to throw it out and pay them another 100 bucks. My original Mavic Pro came with a bad battery so 100% of the batteries I have used have failed. I called customer service and they were no help.

Hi Pichner. Apologies for your poor service experience. Unfortunately because of the sensitive nature of lipo batteries, the warranty can only be 6 months. If your battery fails within this time then you are due a warranty repair or replacement. DJISupport

Purchased one of these so i had two before going on a trip to the forest to do some filming and had one die on me, no charging and no power output. Best buy swapped it out no problem in 5 minutes and i was ready to go again. My other one (not this one) also happened to fall in a pot of water on this trip and stopped working so just be aware these batteries dont like water if they get wet. Battery life on average is 20-23 minutes in real usage in good conditions, less in windy conditions.

A Must Have for the DJI Mavic Pro

You must have at least one extra battery--and preferably 2 or 3 extras. Nothing worse than going to fly and having an unexpected firmware update drain most of your battery before you even get in the air! Or the sky explodes with color just as your battery is critically low and you have to land it. You MUST have several extra batteries to get the most enjoyment out of your Mavic. One battery only gives you approximately 20 minutes flight time, so stock up.

What can you really say. It's a battery. I wish the led indicators had a few more LEDs to give you a better idea of battery level vs 25% increments. I also wish the batteries lasted a little longer. Charging takes about an hour or so and run-time is just under 30 minutes depending on what mode you're in. If you're buying the mavic and wanna be outside for any decent amount of time Id suggest grabbing an extra one or two of these.

If you want to have more flying time for your Mavic Pro, you must own at least one extra battery. Although the price may be a bit high for my liking, it does what it's meant to do. I love the battery checker feature, just one short click of the power button and you are able to see the power level. It would be even cooler to see DJI come up with a small LCD screen to show actual battery level and flight stats.

This is a replacement battery for an orginal one that stopped charging properly. Seems like you really have follow the strict discharge protocol when storing these things otherwise it may lead to battery error. I 've only had my first one for about 1 year. Other than the extra effort on the charging and storage protocol, the batteries do deliver their intended flight times.

I bought my Mavic Pro fly more package at the beginning of the year. It came with 3 batteries and a hub with 4 charging slots. With the nicer weather I decided I needed more fly time so I bought another battery. The drone flies for ~25 minutes per battery so I can fly for about an hour and a half with all 4 batteries plus I can fully recharge one before I drain the fourth.

If you buy the mavic pro drone, you're going to need to buy at least one (if not two or three) extra batteries. You'll use one of them pretty quick, and depending on wind conditions, it could be quicker than you thought. If you're using this drone to shoot anything significant, spend the extra money and buy some extra batteries.

This is my 3rd battery. I buy one every few months to expand the flight time for my mavic pro. It last around 20 minutes, I usually don't let the battery run completely out of charge, I bring the drone down when the battery is around 15% .. I have heard that this is a good practice to expand the battery life, which might be a total BS but for now i have 4 batteries and i can switch between them.

I needed a few more batteries for my Mavic Pro, so I had to get another. I had one that wouldn't hold a charge, nor did it even charge properly. It would be on the charger for hours and continue to blink and it would be on even when it wasn't connected to the drone. I didn't want to take the risk to put it in my drone, so I returned it to Best Buy for another and all is well!
