Purchasing experience-Excellent, Packaging-Excellent, Drone - A versatile equipment to have and for first time drone buyer it was a bit scary but soon got hold of it.

Paid over $800 for a NEW drone and this is what I got in the mail. The drone has been heavily used, dirty, scratched, wings chipped, no battery, no charger - nothing really in the box expect the shell of the drone and the remote...oh and a random kitchen napkin. Kinda scary and comical Best Buy packaged this, sealed it as new and shipped it out.

OK, I hate writing reviews, but I love this drone so much I had to write one. This review is aimed at first time drone buyers who can’t make up their minds. I am not going to go into details about photography or the special features that this drone has over other similar drones on the market, there is enough info and YouTube videos out there that you can make your own decisions about that. My goal here is to explain my buying decision and hope it helps you make yours. I own a cheap $50 drone that I bought back in 2018 just to see what all the hype was about. I am a private pilot, although I haven’t flown a plane in years, so I thought that little drone would be a piece of cake to fly. Wrong!!! That drone was so difficult to fly that I abandoned it quickly and decided drones were not for me. The tiny little LiPo batteries only ran for 4-5 minutes and took 15-20 minutes to recharge. It is impossible to enjoy any useful practice time if you have to stop every 5 minutes and change batteries, not to mention, that when the battery is low the drone just lands wherever it is and you have to go chasing after it. More technologically capable drones back in 2018 were VERY expensive so I did not give that option any thought at all. Fast forward to today. I needed some aerial photos of my property. I called a guy that did aerial drone photography, but he never returned my calls. So, I decided to look in to buying a camera drone to do it myself. Before I knew it, I was purchasing the DJI Mini 3 Pro, more drone than I needed perhaps, but hands down the best drone for your money, and the best for beginners. I was worried about my first flight because I did not have any idea how new sophisticated drones worked. I did so much research before buying a drone that I knew this one would be the one, and I was right. PROS This thing is so simple a 5-year old could fly it. It takes off by itself and hovers a few feet off the ground. You let go of the sticks and it hovers in place wherever it is, giving you the opportunity to decide which way you want to move next. It has a Return Home feature and lands within a couple of feet from where it took off. It can return home on command, or if the battery gets low, or if it loses the signal from your remote controller. It pretty much can’t just fly away and never come back unless you ignore all warnings. In fairness, most comparable drones on the market do all of these things as well. But, the Mini 3 Pro, unlike the other Minis, has obstacle avoidance sensors in front and back, in addition to the standard ones on the bottom. Something you only get on much more expensive drones. If it encounters an obstacle it can either stop and hover or go around (or above) the object. This is a great feature for beginners who are worried about destroying their drone before they get proficient at flying. The videos and photos on this drone are amazing. I purchased it with the DJI RC-N1 remote control that requires you to use your phone as the screen and to download the DJI Fly App (which is awesome). I did it to save money and because I knew the DJI RC controller with the built-in screen, was not as bright as the iPhone. The DJI RC Remote has a maximum brightness of 700 nits, while my phone, the iPhone 13 Pro Max, has a max brightness of 1000 nits, and we all know how hard it is to see your phone’s screen in bright sunlight. Yeah, it's a little clumsy getting your phone mounted to the controller, and the combined weight of your phone and the controller is heavier than the DJI RC controller, but so what. I am happy with my decision. The $150 I saved went towards the Fly More kit (see below). Why should you buy this DJI drone and not some other brand? Because they are the best known and so many of the drone videos online are for DJI products, especially the Mini 3 Pro. The amount of public information available online for this model is overwhelming. And, DJI sells insurance, called DJI Care Refresh, at a reasonable cost. If you get the 2 year plan like I did for $125, they give you up to 3 replacement drones during that two year period (they are refurbished, but still…) for crashes, water damage, etc. Two of those replacements can be for “fly aways”. CONS The drone does not come with a power cube to charge the battery inside the aircraft. They provide a short USB-C cable but you have to purchase the power cube. DJI sells one but it is out of stock on their website. I purchased an Anker USB-C charger. You can find these at Best Buy. The drone does not come with an SD card either. You can find them on BB as well. The drone does not come with a case. (I purchased the Fly More Kit from BB which has a case, 2 additional batteries, a smart charger and extra props). I highly recommend you get this. Lastly, the provided screwdriver for changing propellers is crap. You will ruin the heads of the tiny little Phillips head screws if you try to use it. This is a widely reported issue, just Google it. You will need to purchase a PH#000 screwdriver, or equivalent. Be sure to get one that is long enough and has a stout handle because it takes some torque to loosen the screws, IN SUMMARY The cons are very minor. Don’t let them deter you from purchasing. This thing is so much fun. I was going to purchase the regular Mini 3 but decided it was worth another $200 for the obstacle avoidance sensors since I am a newbie. I hope this review helps you to decide. Fly Safe and enjoy, no matter what you purchase!

The DJI mini three pro is so good I like it very much and you can do so much with it. There’s a 4K camera with 60 FPS and it’s a very good drone and I have to say it’s probably one of the best cheapest drone on the market it’s not the cheapest, but it’s like 800 for the Quality but it has obstacle avoidance with it, and that is very very very very very important for the beginners, which is for me like me so yeah, our rate it a 10 out of 10 instead of a five out of five because this is just an amazing drone and I would recommend it to everybody else so yeah.

The price point to quality is bang-on. Ease of setup and use is flawless. Especially if you are getting into flight photography or wanting a drone for travel. The only thing I need to tell you is, if you're a first time pilot, dont use sport mode, it turns off your collision detection system. BUYER BEWARE, the laws regarding drones (at least in the US) are rapidly changing. If you want to use this for making money/content creation, you need to be part 107 certified (please google it) and then if youre just flying for fun, you still need your TRUST cert (its free and takes 30 min). Put plainly, if its just for fun, its on the spendy side as far as drones go-but youd be hard pressed to find a better package capability wise. If its for buisness, its a no brainer. AND FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, ALSO GET THE FLYMORE BATTERY KIT (and some NDI filters). *note: if you buy the extended flight time battery, the drone will be over the 250g limit and need to be registered (US)

I've really enjoyed using this drone as a wedding photographer. It's lightweight and easy to fly. Takes great images too! For an entry-level drone, I was quite pleased with it. Definitely need a second battery though!

The mini 3 is a beast, portable and easy to use for traveling, camera is incredible, the features it offers make it for a great asset for videographers. 10/10

I always wanted a nice drone. I've flown some of the cheap ones, but this guy is in a different league. The camera is outstanding. Unbelievable how stable it is. The three modes for flying is a great idea. Be careful running it in the sport mode because this thing will get up and go. It has made me wonder how quick some of the others perform. The range on the drone is great. I've been close to a mile away from it, and it still worked like a champ. I would highly recommend.

I bought this drone because I wanted to capture some great videos on my vacation to Puerto Rico and it did not disappoint. I was able to capture some memorable videos all thru the island. I love this drone. Easy to use. Since I am new to flying a drone the pro version comes with quickshots, which will take some cinematic, smooth video better than I can, for now. Definitely worth it.

This drone is the best for anyone who is just getting into drone flying. With self stabilizing and auto hover, it’s hard to go wrong with this drone. It is also just under the weight limit, so a drone license is not necessary. Picture and video quality are amazing and the range on this is incredible.

Small light weight. Easy to fly. Great camera for how small of a drone it is.

This is my first drone. I can't believe how easy it is to fly. I've had it out in 5 -10 mile an hour winds and the camera is rock steady. I love all the features you get with this little guy. The obstacle avoidance feature was a must have for this newbie. If you are new to the drone world this is a great one. Do yourself a favor and spend a little for the DJI replacement plan! The one downside is it does get hot after flying for awhile and if you are trying to download longer movies from the drone, it will keep shutting down on you.

This is by far the best compact mini drone ive owned i know a lot of beginners will buy this as their firsr drone and i just want to give them a warning this drone does not have a lot of sensors so be careful when flying

I am happy with this drone. I used to own the first original mini and felt it's time for an upgrade. The longer range and extra was a winner for me. Camera is of good quality and this can handle strong winds.

The team at DJI has done a terrific job making extremely highly quality drones for an obtainable price compared to the past where even the smallest of drones where way to expensive this is why I’ll continue to buy from DJI

Easy to use. Instructions that are included are poor, but there are great how to do it videos online. The safety features for takeoff and landing are great for beginners. The quality of the video on an iPhone is great.
