Best action cam on the market
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The DJI Action 5 Pro is my first action camera and so far, I’m very impressed with its video quality. I always wanted to get a GoPro, but after looking closely at DJI, I believe their hardware is superior, and I think I’m right. Things like shooting in D-Log M 10-bit gives me so much flexibility in post-production for things like color grading, etc. The dynamic range is incredible, preserving detail in both highlights and shadows even in challenging lighting conditions. Colors are rich and accurate and the footage has a really professional look to it. I can't wait to see what kind of cinematic shots I can get with this camera while exploring Japan later this month! The Adventure Combo accessories, like the extra batteries and magnetic mounts, are going to be super useful for long days, plus all three of them will charge fully in about an hour. There is a convenient charger case that holds all 3 batteries at once that also doubles as a storage case. DJI really nails the design of this camera and its accessories. I’ve ordered the official DJI case as it looks like it’ll be a perfect fit for the camera, batteries, charger, and “selfie stick.” Using the camera is almost suspiciously simple; both screens are touch-screens and get very bright, which should be useful in bright sunlight. The menu system is logical and easy to understand, so much that someone who has never used an action camera (like me) can pick it up for the first time and use it right out of the box. I plan to add some ND filters to it down the road, and after looking at the options, I recommend the DJI branded ND filters since they are magnetic and designed specifically for this camera. The camera also features a depth and altitude sensor, so if you are using it while diving, for example, the camera can provide a more robust experience to the videographer than simply recording a video. Speaking of DJI gear and shooting on the go, I recently picked up the DJI NEO drone and using it in conjunction with the Action 5 Pro is honestly all you need for the vast majority of travel or adventure-related needs. The Action 5 Pro and the NEO are both ridiculously small and extremely lightweight and portable. I also feel how DJI priced both the action camera and NEO drone which are perfect for both the casual traveler and those who make their living via YouTube videos. The footage and audio from both are very good for the price! I’m looking at getting the DJI microphones down the road for interview style videos. In all, I can easily recommend the DJIO Action 5 Pro camera, specifically this Adventure Bundle, since it contains all you need for tons of high-quality footage from whatever you are into, diving, hiking, skydiving, driving, etc. You can also use the Action 5 Pro as a webcam connected to your computer. Really neat and I highly recommended it to anyone interested in an action cam!

Great camera but struggles in low light
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So I've been using the DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro action camera for a week to record daily "vlogs" and just document everyday life. I've got a bit of a love / dislike relationship with this camera. This style of camera is tiny, unobtrusive and very easy to just throw in my pocket or bag and bring with me anywhere. I absolutely enjoy all the accessories that come included in the package. You get 3 batteries with a charging case. They charge in the case, and you can charge all three simultaneously with a quick charging USB cable. I think the included monopod is a bit too big and long to carry around casually. I ended up buying a smaller tripod / mono pod from DJI because I don't want a huge stick in my hand while walking around. I don't want to draw too much attention to myself when recording. Anyway.. I think it is a fantastic package and a bargain. If you are looking at buying an action camera, this is one of the best deals on the market. The issue I've been having with this camera is that this camera kind of struggles in low light and dim / artificial lighting conditions. The camera tends to have these odd jitters at night and under lights. Also, everything (especially greens and foliage) tends to look kind of smeared and over processed. I think the camera applies too much noise reduction, and it ends up giving everything a soft / muddy look. DJI released an update the other night, to correct some of these issues I believe.. but I think it could still use a little more work. Hopefully DJI will provide another update to improve low light image quality even further. But that being said.. I don't like to recommend camera gear, or any gear for that matter based on a hope or promise of it receiving a software update to address issues. So if you plan on picking up a camera to use at night or in low light situations.. I would suggest you look at something else.. But on a positive note.. this camera is excellent in daylight and well lit situations. Colors are nicely saturated, skin tones look good. Dynamic range is decent ( for a sensor of this size) and it can record in upto 4k 120 fps, which is excellent for a camera of this size. It is so easy and convenient to use. The magnetic mount makes attaching it to different mounts an easy and seamless experience. If you already own some DJI accesories then it will most likely be compatible with them. The screens are bright and easy to see outdoors. The OS in camera is quick and responsive. You'll be powered on and recording in seconds. You can start recording with the press of one button, so you never miss a shot! Audio quality with the onboard microphones is good, if you own the DJI wireless microphone, you can use that with this. It is waterproof, very rugged. I think most people will love this camera. It is very cool for recording first person views, or interesting angles that you might not have been able to capture with a cell phone or bigger dedicated video camera. It's just hard for me to give it a solid 5 star review because it struggles at night, I was not very pleased with the footage I captured with this camera when I took it to an outdoor bar at night. There was a festival going on, and there was a lot of cool things going on and the shot was kind of ruined by the heavy processing and noise reduction. The glass lens protector also seems to create big noticeable flares at night when pointed towards lights. It's a shame because it is very near perfect as an everyday action / vlog / lifestyle camera. I'll give it a 4 star rating and I recommend it anyway because I believe it is a fantastic bargain. You get a lot of accessories with this bundle, and You won't need much else to start recording amazing videos.

The King of Action Cams
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Osmo Action 5 Pro is my new travel companion that has found a permanent home in my backpack as well as my travel bag. After briefly becoming familiar with it, I knew I was going to use this for a long time to come. The 4K image quality is excellent, the stabilization features are practically flawless, and the accessory options are endless. Below, I've highlighted some of the key components that make this action worthy of a 5 star rating. Design & Construction: As soon as I handled the Osmo Action 5 Pro, I could immediately tell that this could handle some serious abuse. The camera has some heft to it and feels like a solidly built tool. The rubberized texture on the outer shell of the camera adds some really nice grip and feels premium. I love that DJI also includes the glass lens cover (comes affixed out of the box) which protects the lens from getting scratched and is also drop-resistant. One of the areas I think the Osmo Action 5 pro does best is the fastening & mounting system. The Action 5 pro uses a quick release adapter mount that's not only magnetized, but also securely attaches to the bottom of the camera with a double latch system. Rest assured that regardless of whatever extreme activity you are going to expose this action cam to, it's staying put. Aside from the standard Osmo action quick release adapter and curved adhesive base mount, this adventure combo also includes an additional mini quick release adapter with additional locking screw. The mini adapter is great as the shorter legs allow for a lower mounting profile. This worked perfectly on my snowboard helmet as I prefer a lower mounting height on my helmet action cams. Throughout using the Osmo Action 5 Pro, I tested it on a suction cup mount on the exterior of my vehicle, I used it with a separately purchased magnetic chest mount during several outdoor activities (e.g. cycling, running, onewheel sessions), have tossed it in the pool to record underwater (love the depth rating feature!), and have taken it all around town with the 1.5mm extension rod. At no point has the fastening system fail on me; nor has the action cam shown any signs of wear. Huge kudos to DJI for a phenomenally designed and constructed tool. Video Quality & Performance: I'm beyond impressed with the video quality that this little action cam can produce. This is of course made possible by it's new next-gen 1/1.3-inch CMOS sensor. I have tried various resolutions and modes from 1080P at 60FPs to 4k at 120FPS. The result is always the same; an exceptionally crisp, clear, and stable picture with rich colors. While on the subject of colors, when it comes to high dynamic range, this action cam is capable of recording in HLG 10bit, D-Log M 10bit, and normal 10bit. While HLG is more of a hybrid HDR format, I was still very impressed with the color range as compared to HDR10. I do have to note that when using either standard 10bit or HLG 10bit, the colors are a bit oversaturated and may divide certain people who are after the most accurate color reproduction possible. Personally, very vibrant colors are exactly how I love to enjoy my high dynamic range content so the moderate amount of oversaturation perfectly suits my taste. The stabilization on this action cam is phenomenal. I've taken the Action 5 Pro on several runs with me and the difference when using rocksteady, rocksteady+, or Horizon Balancing is massive. For almost all of my use cases, I've noticed that I prefer rocksteady the best. Rocksteady provided nearly almost the same stabilization performance as rocksteady+ without having to crop the image. If you need that extra bit of stabilization during very aggressive activities (e.g. mountain biking, snowboarding, wakeboarding) where a more narrow field of view is acceptable, then rocksteady+ is the perfect alternative. Horizon Steady (supports 1080p & 2.7K) and Horizon Balancing (supports 4K) are also incredible horizon stability features. These features were extremely useful when I was walking around in my local downtown area using the extension rod. With horizon balancing, as long as you don't tilt the cam at angle exceeding 45 degrees, it will keep the horizon perfectly level. If my hands or arms got a bit tired and I inadvertently tilted the cam, horizon balancing kept everything perfectly balanced. The Horizon Steady feature just blew my mind. It's essentially Horizon Balancing but taken to another level. You can literally rotate the entire cam 360 degrees and somehow, it maintains the horizon perfectly level. I've never seen anything like it and I'm excited to use it during outdoor activities where significant rotation may occur. Do bear in mind that the focal lengths are impacted when using horizon steady/balancing which will result in a slightly cropped image. To top things off, the low light performance and battery life also exceeded my expectations. Even without using Super Night mode, recording right after sunset yielded impressive footage with good clarity and sharpness. For really dark areas, Super Night mode made a massive difference. However, in most of the footage I recorded using this mode, I noticed that it did result in a more processed looking image. It's as if a bit of noise is introduced into the picture while using this mode. In my opinion, this is an acceptable trade off for the low light improvement. In terms of battery life, a single battery can usually last up to 4 hours. In my opinion, the adventure combo is a must for the battery pack of three with the multifunctional charging case alone. I spent an entire day recording at SeaWorld in San Diego and I still had an extra battery with a full charge left at the end of the day! To round things out, I've included some of my favorite features of the Osmo Action 5 Pro below: - The 3 pack battery charging kit that comes with the adventure combo made it so that I could record all day and then some - Horizon Steady (1080p:19mm focal length) and Horizon Balancing (4k:17mm focal length) features for a perfectly steady horizon! - 47GB of internal storage in case you run out of microSD card storage - Intuitive button layouts, dual OLED screens, simple interface - Impressive built-in mic quality; very crisp and clear vocals - Flawless subject tracking for situations where you need to leave the camera unattended during a recording session - Love the convenient and secure magnetic mounting system along with all of the mounting accessory options - Rocksteady and Rocksteady+ is some of the best stabilization I've seen on the market - Beautiful high dynamic range 4k content up to 120 FPS Overall Thoughts: To date, the DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro is the best action cam I've used. For having such a small sensor, this action cam produces outstanding 4k footage with some very vibrant and punchy colors. It did so while not compromising on stability while engaged in intense outdoor activities. As previously mentioned, I believe the adventure combo is a must. The 3 pack battery charging kit with the multifunctional charging case will ensure that you're ready for an entire day of recording. The included premium extension rod is also one of the highest quality rods I've used. DJI hit a home run with the Osmo Action 5 Pro. If you're looking for a travel action cam to take with you on all of your outdoor adventures, the DJI Osmo Action 5 is it.

Great Camera Lots Of Features
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Nice action camera with some great features. Specifically, the hot shoe adapter is a magnetic clip. The magnet is super strong and directional, and the clips are just another option to keep it secure. Also the access panels for USB-C, battery, and MicroSD card are very easy to open and can be done with a glove on. Both screens being OLED is nice on the battery, but the front screen cannot be fully turned off; just Full Screen on/off. During recording it shows on both screens how long you have been recording. With it being OLED, i’m sure it is a low power draw, but a little blinking light could do the same. The battery does last exceptionally well. I recorded in 4K/50 (meant to select 60). Battery was at 80% when beginning and only dropped to 61%. Record time was continuous at 63min 37sec. I had screen off time set to 3 seconds after start recording. Interestingly, the included battery charger showed all 3 batteries had completed charging (green light), but when I put one in action camera it only registered at 80% charge. They may need to be conditioned a little bit with use, but it was odd. Leaving them in the charging case for a few hours after finished charging will cause some drain apparently, as the one of the bays went from green to yellow when I checked it after about 4 hours. Again could be due to batteries needing to be cycled a few times. The device ON/OFF/MODE switch button is very stiff and requires a decent amount of pressure. It is also fairly flat against the device. Using the “case” included in the Adventure bundle doesn’t help in that area either. I had planned for around 2-3 hours of recording on my ride, but apparently when I had last turned off the device I accidentally switched the mode from VIDEO to PHOTO. I didn’t catch this before taking off, so all I ended up getting were snapshots at the times I thought I was starting and stopping recording. Lesson learned. I’m sure you are wondering if it is as good or better than a GoPro? Of course that will depend on what versions you are comparing, but all in all I would say it is at least as good as the Hero12 that I have been using for a little over a year. There are definitely some aspects that I think the Action 5 Pro wins in, specifically battery life & size, access panel opening (no jaws of life required!),and mounting point/hot shoe type. Battery life being the only aspect that should actually hold any real value. The Action 5 Pro does state it has Bluetooth 5.1 but there is no way to access this in the settings options on the device or the companion app DJI MIMO. Upon first use you are told you have 5 skips to not have to register the device to continue using it and that has to be done through the DJI MIMO app. If you are looking to use a Bluetooth headset that you already own, I would highly recommend you double check it will work. There is no way on the Action 5 Pro to select a bluetooth device or put into pairing mode, so I can only assume it is always on, but in the settings it does show an option for external bluetooth mic. My guess is it is only compatible with DJI’s other accessories. The DJI MIMO app has quite a bit offered. Not hiding the use of the camera as a Livestream device behind a paywall is quite nice if you are looking for that option. There are a lot more features, but this is by one of the best. The Adventure Bundle is definitely worth the price with all that is included and if you are considering getting an action camera, extra batteries and an external charger are definitely a must no matter the brand. DJI has always had some excellent bundle options with their products and this one continues that trend. I can definitely recommend the Action 5 PRO.

Premium Action Camera with some nice features
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Never using DJI before and coming from a few other action cameras in the past, I was eager to see what the newer kid on the block offers to put itself on the radar. First impression when opening up this product was the quality feel of the entire package. Everything from the extension rod, battery case, and of course the camera felt extra premium with a nice weight to it. No cheap plastic or any flimsy accessories, and I especially like the extension rod. Because it’s been awhile since I’ve used one of these, I went to the free video courses offered by DJI to maximize my understanding of their features. They offer a Beginner, Elementary, and Advanced-level video courses online for free. Anyways, setting the camera up was a bit more of a process than I expected. First off, you can’t just turn the camera on and start using it, you need to activate it with their Mimo app. I think it will let you use it without activation for a set number of times, but you basically need an app to get it fully functional and to update the firmware. Secondly, with Android, they don’t offer the app in the Play store for some reason, so you have to side-load it. Well my Android had Google’s Advanced App Protection enabled which doesn’t allow you to side-load apps. Once I figured out how to disable it, it takes up to 24 hours for it to update on your phone, which I had to wait until the following day to install the app. However, I have an iPad and it worked seamlessly, so I ended up setting the app up on both iPad and Android phone. The accessories in this particular bundle are great, which I highly recommend this package if you don’t already own a previous DJI camera. The 2 quick release adapter mounts are genius! Its magnetic so you can only put it on the correct way, and it seems to lock it in securely and it makes switching accessories a quick process. The Protective Frame is a nice bonus, because it does offer protection to the camera without adding a lot of bulk and gives you the added option of mounting the camera vertically. The cherry on top is the extra batteries and charging case to make sure you can keep shooting. Once I updated the firmware and was able to start using it, the first thing I noticed was how snappy it was! Touchscreen menu is responsive and has almost no lag to it. Taking a photo or video from standby mode is SUPER fast! This is a huge bonus to help capture those quick moments you don’t want to lose from loading the camera up. Probably one of the fastest click-to-shoot action cameras or even phones I’ve ever used. Once I got familiar with navigating the menus and interface, the rest was quite simple. The menu is easy to understand for those of us who aren’t professional photographers, and it also has a layer of more complex photographic options for those that are. So the camera itself seems to perform quite well. Photographs and videos are gorgeous and full of detail with 4k quality selected. I did experience some weird artifact/light object in my photos that came from the sun as you can see in the attached images, but it only appears when the sun is in the image. Image stabilization, being just on the standard ‘Rock Stead’, was impressive. I attached the camera to my golf cart and rode it around the neighborhood and between the streets and my golf cart, the whole thing rattles and shakes during the drive. Watching the video it looked like the smoothest drive ever, you couldn’t even tell I was going over speed bumps. Super Night mode really lights up the area, both indoors and outdoors, but outdoors gets a much better picture as long as you get the right time of day. It won’t work well if its too dark, but as long as there is some light you can still get some good footage. Even though the Super Night mode is for videos, the Photo mode will automatically adjust to the lighting environment, enhancing the image brightness. One feature I’m not that impressed with, is voice command. The camera has 4 built-in voice commands, which I think is great when using the extender or a mount that is not easily reachable to take the snapshot. I usually have to repeat myself twice or more for it to pickup the command. It might be my voice tone or background noise causing some issues, but I have yet to get it consistently working on the first try in quiet or noisy environments. Hoping for software improvements on this. I do recommend using an iPad/tablet for connecting to the camera to view the media or perform edits. The larger screen makes it look so much better when previewing or watching full quality media! Wireless transfer rates of media from the camera to the Mimo app are very good! Most photos are instant while videos usually only take a few seconds depending on size. I was able to move a 1.3GB video in under 20 seconds to my iPad! The Mimo app has also been pretty decent as far as its capabilities on both Android and iOS (iPad), stable and works fairly well. No crashing or functional problems that I’ve ran into and seems to connect without issues to the camera. Overall, I really like this camera and look forward to using it on my honeymoon coming up. Underwater footage is nice and clear when I tested in a pool, and with depth/altitude readings it will be great tracking our adventures in detail on our trip. I’m hoping future firmware updates make this camera even better (hopefully the voice command feature), and for my personal needs I am impressed with what this little device offers. Battery life has been exceptional, been on one battery and its lasted most of the day during my setup and initial testing, and recharge time is quick…like you’ll get a nice recharge within minutes and on top of it the battery holder acts as a battery charge for your phone or any other usb C device. I like having the built-in storage for a backup and don’t use it for primary, but some you may not even need to buy a microsd card. For my first DJI product, I’d say the Action OSMO 5 is a great contender in this market.

Versatile and capable action camera
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve known DJI for their drones, but I was not aware of their involvement in the action camera business. The Osmo Action Pro 4K Action camera is a worthy competitor in the market for action cameras. This model comes as an ‘Action bundle’ that includes a protective case, a 3-battery charger case with 3 batteries, 2 mounting kits. The small camera is unobtrusive and has a little weight that gives it the feel of quality. The first thing you notice are the front and rear OLED touch screens that can be very bright when used in sunny outdoors. The camera is fairly simple with a power button on the side, a shutter/record button, the battery compartment where you can add an SD card; I’m not sure if there are limits to the memory size but the camera itself comes with 64GB of memory. There’s also an access to a usb-c connection to either charge the battery or to access the memory with a phone. Out of the box, the set-up was quick and easy. It was a bit unusual to me that the app was not readily available on the Google store, since I have an Android. I had to download it from the QR code appearing on the camera screen when turned on for the first time. The connection was done without issues and it’s been reliable since. The app has a good user interface with many options. Also, once connected, the phone serves as a third screen that controls the camera. Now for the performance, I was very impressed. The 4K quality is first rate with vibrant colors and crisp images. There are several shooting options and image exposures and the stability software excels. The Pro option gives you even more image settings. Besides the regular functions such as taking a picture, straight recording and time lapse, I was dazzled by the quality and smoothness of the slow motion mode, all in glorious 4K. I have a highly energetic German shepherd dog at home and capturing his acrobatics in slow motion are something to see. I also tried the hyperlapse feature which I had never seen before. It’s basically a time-lapse function where the camera is moving through the action and compiles it into a short video. I used hyperlapse with the camera mounted on the front wheel of a modified electric scooter going down an empty road with many curves reaching close to 50 miles per hour. I found it very original and stunning. I didn’t try much of the night vision mode but it seems to be performing well. DJI claims that the camera can be immersed more than 50 feet without needing a waterproof case. I never got to try that yet but some of my scooter actions were shot in those occasional South Florida heavy rains and it performs flawlessly. I would say the wet sequences had a cool effect. So far, the battery life has been good, plus the three batteries included in the bundle removed all my worries. I really like the DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro 4K Action camera for its solid quality build and stunning picture. It packs many features that professional adventurers and creators are looking for and it performs admirably. I’ll definitely recommend it. It’s been a great find.

A Pocketsized powerhouse
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a perfect Osmo Action 5 Pro a wonderfully versatile gimbal, great for filming your next outdoor excursion in 4k. The video stabilization is particularly good, which makes even the bumpiest rides and hikes look smooth. I especially like the sturdy build. It is a waterproof and shockproof, so feel free to take it in your outdoor adventures. Quickly shift your preferences while driving using the sensitive touchscreen and tactile buttons. It could be better for extended shooting, but it's still pretty good. At the same time, quick-charge is a real life-saver. In the end, this camera is a great option for those who would like to shoot some nice action shots but don't want to carry lots of stuff around. I particularly enjoyed the crystal – clear footage, great for sharing it on social! I really like their slow, controlled shots they even during the most hectic moments. The design meets durability, meaning it's built for the elements. And it is easy to use even for the beginner as well with this intuitive controls. Battery life could be longer but the quick charge feature is a lifesaver when shooting. I could easily charge it during lunch. While the touchscreen responds quickly, I did struggle to navigate my way around first time with such a complex menu system. But, I had the hang of it after my first visit.

Small but very mighty
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Action cams have many brands, only 2 seem to be professional grade products at the top of their class. DJI with the Osmo 5 Pro might have just edged out the other guy who started this category. I am not a massive adrenaline junkie that really knows how to show what action cams can do. I am an everyday guy and enthusiast who will and does attach cams to my e-bike, kayak, truck and body on occasion. It has only been a week with a few outings to test the camera. So far, running the camera on mostly auto settings, image/audio quality and battery life have been stellar. Maybe there are tweaks for even better quality and some pictures probably will get even sharper when tweaked. Out of the box auto is a really good start. Kit includes: You get 3 batteries with USB-C charge dock and cable, safety cage, couple magnetic mounts and very nice and long selfie stick. Plus now that DJI includes 48GB of built in storage, your day trips might be good to go even if you forgot to buy/bring your SD card. DJI has thrown the kitchen sink into this camera and dialed everything up to be the best camera in the action camera class. Basic Setup: I'll start off with I tested this in full auto settings. I have almost enough knowledge to choose some settings, but often it is best to see what the maker thinks is best for those who just turn it on and go. I went with 4k/60 video with Rocksteady and 16:9L for photo. There are far too many other options and pro settings to list. Just know it is a professional camera for those who know best how to use the additional features and settings. Youtube has many experts to help explain features and dial the settings in depending on what activity you want to capture. You will also be best served to download the DJI Mimo app to give you remote access to the camera and also have a nice video editor to clean up and condense clips into easier to watch films. The app will also add music to give clips a more polished look without the need to know how to run a video edit suite. e-Bike ride: On my bike the video footage and audio are very good for most of my needs where I don't want/need a dedicated mic in an open environment. Under 15 MPH on trails with paved and bumpy gravel sections, there was no noticeable shake or wind noise. Audio of me talking to the camera mounted on the handle bars was clean and audible. It did pick up a rattle from the bar that tightens my mount, so that will need attention before next use. It also captured the crunch of fall leaves and was easy to hear passing voices as I talked to other cyclist on the trail. Playback was immersive. Using one of DJI's mics would be best for full narration, but most people probably could get away with camera alone and use it as a more durable camcorder. Since most won't watch an hour of bike riding, hyperlapse can put a whole day in to a few minute journey. Different from timelapse setting, which is when the camera is stationary. Hyperlapse takes a snapshot at varied intervals to get a 10 mile ride down to easy to watch minute or so video clip. I went with 1 minute and got a great condensed clip of our 10 mile ride. Not once did the camera complain, get hot or shut down during the hour plus trip. In between video clips I took some photos. Some while stopped and others while riding. Not all were perfect, motion blur at the edges when in full motion. Also some odd fringing on the tree tops that made for a interesting glow. The camera is almost instant to take a picture. From off, to the moment you press the record button. It turns on, snaps the shot, then does few second count down and back to sleep. Amazing, you likely can't get your phone out and ready in the same time. This is perfect for those times an animal darts across the trail, but it took too long to get my camera out. Not anymore. Just press the button. Bonus, if you set up multi shot ahead of time, you will get up to 9 pics when you press the button. The pictures captured are good to great when viewed on tv replay. Again, I did notice a bit of soft edge when zoomed in, but motion or stills, these are easily the best for such a small and quick form factor. I will be adding this to my everyday carry bag. Complaints/issues: The cage to keep the camera safe is a bit fiddly. Yet, it is designed to give more mounting options (portrait/tiktok and landscape) for the magnetic mounts which other cams will quickly steal. Magnetic clip mounts are the superior mounting option. The only other gripe is how extremely hard the power (QS) button is to press. In winter with gloves this could be an issue. At least you won't accidentally press the button if the camera is tossed in a bag. Arthritic joints be warned, test in store if possible. Overall this is the best camera from DJI that is not mounted to a drone. I do think this raised the bar on the competition and time will tell if DJI keeps the crown, or do they get one upped by a new feature.

Nothing but the Best

I've had every model from the 1 to this 5 pro so I can speak on its performance compared to its predecessors from experience. To sum it up, this camera is simply amazing. From its video and photo images to the long battery life and everything in between this camera out shines all the previous versions in meaningful and substantial ways. The upgrades to the 5 Pro are not just cosmetic or minor incremental changes, they are very noticeable and tangible differences that make upgrading from the Action 4 a worthwhile investment. I just finished video recording 4.5 sets of tennis including all the down time such as change overs and other court interruptions on a single battery and there was over 8 hours of recording time left on the 512gb memory card that allowed me to record a full tournament in 4k 60 with the additional batteries in the adventure bundle. The camera never overheated in the direct sunlight at the tennis courts, and it didn't drop a frame. I will say that because I've been using all the different previous versions of this camera that it was easy for me to get started and shooting. Having said that, the camera is intuitive and easy to master with loads of online tutorials and how to videos that can guide through every step of the way for using the camera. Now that I've validated the reviews I've read about this camera online, I ordered my second Action 5 pro camera and will start experimenting with multi camera angles using my Atem switcher. I ordered my camera online with Best Buy and they had it ready and waiting for at the neighborhood store. Picking the camera up was a breeze using the QR code sent to me after I purchased it and my purchase was ready at the counter so it took longer for me to walk from the parking lot to the counter than actually picking up the camera!

Good for use
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve been using the **DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro** for a while now, and I’m genuinely impressed. The video quality is top-notch, especially with the 4K at 120fps and how smooth the RockSteady stabilization is—it makes a huge difference for action shots. I also love that it’s waterproof without needing a case and works well even in cold weather, which is perfect for outdoor trips. The dual OLED screens are super clear and bright, even in sunlight. Battery life has been great, and the built-in storage has saved me a couple of times when I forgot my SD card. The colors can be a bit too saturated out of the box, and the touchscreen could be a little more responsive, but overall, it’s easily one of the best action cameras I’ve used.
