Customers are saying

Customers are impressed with the Osmo Action Camera's video quality, ease of use, and stabilization. Many also appreciate the front screen and its compact size, along with the waterproof capabilities and competitive price. However, some users noted limitations with the zoom functionality and occasional connectivity issues with the app. A few also mentioned the camera's tendency to overheat in certain conditions and its less-than-ideal low-light performance.

First impressions of this after recording several hours: The good: 1. Excellent stability. I found the stabilizer was great, but better to turn it off for still shots as it can cause the background to wobble. 2. Image quality is better than I expected. Thought it would mostly be fair, but it shoots great video. 3. Easy to setup and use right away. The Bad: 1. I wish it came with a few mounts or at least more than just one sticky mount, but I love that it is quick release. 2. The app for the phone sometimes has a difficult time connecting. May take several attempts, but awesome once connected. 3. No 1/4" screw mount for my tripod...sold separately. Overall, love it and will probably get another one soon.

I love this camera. It's plenty small and takes great pictures and videos. Love the fact that it has a front screen that is used to get a great shot in frame. GoPro doesn't have this as of yet and is why I got this camera. I do some vlogging from time to time and flipping to the front screen, I can see that everything is in frame. The RockSteady feature works great to stabilize the video, but it does clip a lot to accomplish this. It's water proof too, I've used it in the pool filming the kids playing and swimming around and works great!!

Best Action Cam On the Market!

I've had my share of various GoPro models over the year. The Osmo's interface and screen are smoother and more responsive. Much better layout in my opinion. I LOVE this camera and for my needs it is the best camera out there. I hope DJI keeps the updates coming and I can't wait to see if they come out with another model in another year! The ONE complaint I have against the camera is that the app does not like to connect. Sometimes the app connects immediately, sometimes it takes up to 10 tries. It's rather annoying at times. It happens with Apple and Android devices. I've tried a handful of both and they've all experienced the same issue. If you look online, you'll notice others have the same issue. If not for that issue, I'd be perfectly satisfied with the product. Battery life is better than the gopro and the second screen on the front is insanely helpful for setting up that perfect shot. 10/10 would get again. In fact, I have ordered a second one. Bye bye, GoPro and Hello, Osmo!

Best action camera for the price and quality. Owning several DJI drones, I already knew the quality and reliability that this company makes. Often you can find this camera for less than half the price of the only other camera available in the market that compares to the Osmo Action, the Hero 9. The front screen is amazing, with the simple features of a double tap on the back screen you flip your screen view to the front and you can easily see what you are recording. So far I’ve been using this camera everywhere, at home, in my car recording weekend vibes with the family, at work recording short snippets of what I do. It is so small and rugged, I can easily toss it in my back pack, in my pocket, and I know that the little camera will be ok. Just buy it! You won’t regret it.

I’ll start by saying I’m a Sony camera guy but for a small action camera this is perfect! Waterproof, I can set it up in the yard and do a time lapse and catch a storm coming in. Take it to the pool and not worry about the kids splashing it. It’s simple to use, voice activated, great little camera! DJI makes great products. The app you load onto your phone can control it and the editing software is great for making movies of your trips and time lapse and slow motion videos. The GoPro mounts work with it. I’ve put this on a magnetic mount and had it on the front of my truck for some neat action videos. I’ve put it on my kayak, strapped it to pets and kids. It’s versatile. You can play with settings and pull off some Astro photography. I keep it and extra batteries in my truck so I’m ready for whenever something happens.

I bought this camera on our way to the beach on vacation. It was so worth it! This could very well be better than a Go Pro. I love the front screen when I was taking a selfie with the family. The back screen is bright and I could see it on the beach. The thing is waterproof and doesn't need an extra case. The 4k at 60fps is amazing. And the Rocksteady is pure magic...like, it's wizardry inside the camera. I was running with my kids at the beach and you would think the camera was on an expensive gimbal or even a drone. I am truly blown away! The only negative that I would say is that the audio may not be the best but that might be unfair since I have only used it in the water and not out in a dry environment yet.

Bought the Osmo Action camera a few days ago and I am very impressed. Amazing quality/ stabilization, 4K 60fps, waterproof, this is as good, if not better than the newest GoPro for less than half the price. The app can be a little slow at times but if you can get around that it is a great product for the $200 price tag. If you want the quality/ features of a GoPro this has it all at a very competitive price. Well done DJI.

This Action camera is beyond better then any Go Pro i've ever used. Whenever I was doing any video recording for Go Pro's I always had some sort of issue from Poor battery life or quality, Poor Low light, Over heating, AND the worst was when I was doing video editing for youtube. I always had to convert the videos before I could even work on them! This camera has been better then ALL of that! After the much needed firmware update. The cameras front vlog screen works amazing. Controls work well! Video quality is top notch for an action camera. Battery life is decent! Lens cover screens off AND can be swapped for aftermarket filters which is super useful for overly bright days. You can plug in a battery pack and run it longer while recording! There's an adapter that lets you not only charge but also plug in a external Mic even for even better recording quality! This camera is seriously outstanding for the money. I hope it works for many many years to come as it has been such a solid camera for any Youtube recordings as a B or even C camera! It's amazing how good this camera performs after they just tweaked the firmware. Well done DJI.

In my opinion this is so much better than any of the go pros out there right now. It is so easy to use and I love the double screen that it has one on front and one in the back. You can also use your old go pro accessories with this camera I found that very useful. I highly recommend this camera especially to those who are looking for an upgrade from a previous version of a GoPro can’t beat the price of the Osmo action.

4k Videos are fantastic and Pictures are very good. Almost went with one of them cheaper ones for around $120 somewhere else, but they were just ok. This is one great for the money. Looked into the Go Pro's but to expensive and i didn't like the video quality. They seemed much darker and not as much color. And the Stabilization is better on this Camera.

Great action cam! Used it to record a couple of videos of the family playing sports at a park and for some bike rides. I didn't notice it overheating or anything like that but of course, like anything else, battery life was decent when recording at 4K. I have replaced it with the Action 3 but haven't really had the chance to use it.

I like this camera because you can film, save files, edit and publish all from your phone using the dji app. Great for quick videos and love the front screen and the large rear screen. Very well designed and easy to use. Rock steady is a nice stabilizing feature. and the camera really does record some great quality video.

I recently bought the Osmo Action Camera to augment my cell phone camera. I was not disappointed. I compared the Osmo Action Camera to the GoPro 7/8 cameras for features/cost and the Osmo Action Camera was $/$ feature/feature better than the GoPro cameras. The major benefits are: Front Screen with Voice Control Screen Switch Mode Quick Switch button on the side RockSteady Stabilization feature DeWarp Photo feature GoPro Mounting accessories compatibility The major disadvantages are: Lens filter availability Battery availability There are more Neutral Density filter choices available for the GoPro but the Osmo has all the major filters available, just less selection. While traveling, it’s harder to find spare batteries for the Osmo vs GoPro camera. So be sure to stock up on the Osmo batteries. You can get by with one battery if you remove the battery door and power it externally with a power bank. If you’re all set on the lens filter and powering options for the Osmo, then the Osmo Action Camera is by far a better action camera for the money than the GoPro. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. Watch for it on sale though. $279 is a good price.

I owned a HD Hero 2 for about ten years before upgrading my action camera, and I can't believe I didnt do it sooner. This camera is amazing; it's easy to use, extremely versatile, works with all my old atrachments, and effortlessly garners incredible results in any of it's video or photography modes. If you don't know, action cameras utiluze fishbowl lenses. This allows them to have a larger than normal field of vision, in comparison to a typical snap and shoot camera. I strap this thing to my head, shoulders, chest, backpacks, trees, commercial or residential structures, and im still coming up with fun ways to use it. I really like this camera: the 4K is beautiful, the TimeLapse is delightful, the slowmo is delicious, and the HyperLapse is entrancing. I take this bad boy to Festivals, use it to film cooking timelapses, enact scenes incolvingl our household pets, and there's an app you can download to make your phone into a controller (unless you have an LG K35). Great camera, DJI has earned my business, and tgey will take care of you too.

Ive had this camera for a month and have put it to use alot. This is a great camera to use compared to my phone for vlogging. Ive also let my daughter play with it and she dropped it a few times and its held up well. The picture is just as sharp as GoPro and thr accessories are compatible so I can use it as a dash camera. You will need a 256GB micro sd card which was another 35$ at Walmart but you can record on 1080 for over 300 minutes! Battery life is decent as long as you dont keep the screen on while recording. I havent tried the water test yet. Im still a little nervous to submerge it but Its under warrenty so Im not to worried. So far Im very happy saving a 1/3 of the cost to the GoPro.

For the price I was hoping this camera would be a second camera to record our services at church. The flexibility and quality was excellent! The size and weight, stunningly wonderful.... But alas it had one fatal flaw. I couldn't get it to record for slightly over an hour in one take. Tried switching video quality and still it topped out, stopped and started another file. When it switched to the next take automatically, it would drop several frames. I tried to do my research, as always, but did not discover this in anything I looked at until after purchase and issue, then doing a specific search. So, since it wasn't doing what I needed most, it went back. Honestly, that was the only thing that made this purchase not work for me. It was an outstanding camera in every aspect. Easy to use. Excellent video quality. Image stabilization. Ability to adjust "aperture" for light quality. Decent sound recording. I so much wanted to like and keep this. It just didn't fit my primary need.

I compared the Hero 8 Black with this one before I purchased. I don't think you would go wrong with either. The Hero has warm colors and the Action more subdued maybe 10-20%. But in post I believe you can do LUTS easier with less than toning down more. Besides the front screen on the Action (I don't really do vlogs though), my ultimate decision was the Action's replaceable lens. The Hero 8 is now not replaceable! Crack it and it's back to the factory. I own the Pocket also so I have a matching pair. And DJI is the king for consumer drones. I have my older Hero 5 also for alternative shooting. I repeat, though, you won't go wrong with either . . . until you scratch the lens. Another thing that helped my decision, Best Buy ran a special for $259 WITH the battery charger and two extra batteries and I couldn't pass up a $140 savings when the Hero package was at $400. Since I already had all the GoPro mount kits and pieces, they work with the Action also.
