Great Gimbal

I purchase this after purchasing the Zhiyun - Crane 3-Axis Handheld Gimbal Stabilizer. I had initially intended to use my Canon EOS 6D to do some filming, but soon realized the size of my camera and the gimbal were too much to bring on vacations.
The quality of this product is very good. It's high quality plastic, unlike the Zhiyun which is all aluminum, but it still feels well made. It is easy to balance a phone, I have the Iphone XS Max, which fits well, but I don't like using my case with it.
The app they provide is great. It's feature rich and easy to navigate around in.
Some of the functions of the controls on the body of the Osmo Mobile 3 are a little on the difficult side, but not so overly complex that it should slow you down in any way.
I spent a few dollars more to get the case and tri-pod, which isn't a necessity, as you can aftermarket ones for it. Any standard tri-pod will work.
It doesn't have replaceable batteries, but the battery should last all day under normal usage.
Pros:
lightweight
collapses down for travel.
App is excellent
Lots of youtube videos with tips and tricks
Cons:
Buttons are a little confusing at first
Non-replaceable batteries (see note above)

Awesome upgrade from the 2

Recently purchased this unit and the upgrades it features over the 2 are well worth it. The ability to charge your phone from the unit, instant switch from landscape to portrait, and usb type c connectivity makes this a win. They have also managed to shrink down the size and weight slightly and make it foldable. I would definitely recommend.

The DJI Osmo Mobile 3 is a perfect on the go gimbal for quick vlogging. The panoramic function gives the user options on how many frames to use when creating a panoramic photo. Unlike the Ronin gimbal, it’s easier to balance a smart phone than a dslr/mirrorless (unless you really plan on filming short videos then Ronin is the way to go). The portability of the Osmo Mobile 3 is what really is appealing given that the customer picks up the package that has the tripod leg. Also, don’t forget to download the DJI Mimo app to access all the features. Battery life is really good and should be able to hold its charge throughout the day. As of this writing, the new DJI Osmo Mobile 4 is out with the magnetic holder. The Mobile 3 is still a great buy. Definitely a must have.

The DJI Osmo mobile 3 is the first gimbal I've ever bought and used and so far, I'm very impressed.
The controls are very intuitive.
Build quality is flawless and the app comes with almost all the features I need.
Video is super smooth, tracking works well, timelapses are very easy, ...
The only issue:
I use the Osmo mobile 3 with a OnePlus 5T, that is capable of 4k at 30fps and 1080p at 30/60fps in the standard camera app.
In the DJI app, the maximum framerate i can access is 30fps, which bothers me a bit.
I like shooting in 1080p at 60fps for smooth slowmotion.
Perhaps DJI will update the app in the future with a wider selection of resolutions and framerates.
Then I'll happily leave a 5 star rating.

This gimble is great for what it is. I have gotten so many smooth shots from my Pixel 3a. The reason I am giving it 4 out of 5 stars is that with the 3a in landscape mode and using the native camera app, the gimble does not allow for the phone to be completely level. The Pixel will show a leveler/degree line when in landscape mode and it is always off by 1 or 2 degrees. Now, when I use the DJI Camera app, I am able to manually adjust the level and even recalibrate it. That is all fine and good, but I have found using the DJI app causes my 3a to get really hot after about 10 minutes of use. While outside on a summer day in Oklahoma heat, I got a notification stating the phone was overheating and made both camera apps inoperable. I am learning that budget smartphones have their limitations. With all of that said, I can easily make the footage level in Da Vinci Resolve and I am sure it can be done in other editing programs. I wish you could use a thin cell phone case while using the gimble. There is really only enough room for the arms to grab the cell phone. All of this is based on what I experienced. I definitely recommend this gimble.

Fantastic little compact gimbal for phones

I bought this after seeing my sister get it for Xmas and playing around with it. I took it with me on my European trip through London, Paris and Rome. It allowed me to take smooth strides through sightseeing tourist attractions, famous landmarks and crowded markets.
The compact size is great as it was easy to tuck into my backpack or fits nicely in my shoulder bag if I didn't feel like bringing my backpack. If I see a good shot I am able to set it up and get going within a minute or two.
One thing I don't hear a lot of praise for is the 3 x 3 automatic panorama shots. You set it down on the tripod, hit the shutter and it take gorgeous scene shots, best from high locations like the top of the Eiffel Tower.
The only downside to everything is that you have to reconnect to the gimbal everytime after if I shut off the screen to conserve battery. Also that the the triggers did nothing on the normal camera app and only worked with the dji app which the quality of the photos were slightly degraded compared to my normal camera app.
Tested with a Pixel 3a XL

Amazing tool for anyone wish it smooth stable footage from the phones video camera. Especially love the motion tracking feature which allows you to lock onto and follow a subject easily. Download the DJI mobile 3 app and do make some great movies. My package came with a small tripod for time lapse and allows you to get in the picture. The price is definitely reasonable for what you get. Totally worth having. Works with most phones I'd think.

What an incredible gimbal!
With the amazing technological advances on phones as cameras (mine is an iPhone), the DJI Osmo Mobile 3 takes your photos and videos to another level.
At the time I was shopping for this item, it was sold out or back-ordered almost everywhere. Best Buy listed that one was available at a store in another county and arranged to ship it to my local store in three days (without an inflated price or cost for shipping).
Thumbs up Best Buy!

Balancing is probably the hardest part I think to get it just right, otherwise it's a great gimbal. Still learning all the trigger controls but this makes a big difference compared to just a handheld tripod. Can't wait to make some new video!

This gimbal has been a great purchase. I've heard of the previous versions of the DJI Osmo and have been curious, but never pulled the trigger until this version. I'm glad I did.
The iPhone has pretty good optical stabilization in its cameras, but it doesn't hold a candle to what's possible with this. Video taken with the phone in this gimbal is buttery smooth. I have not noticed any sort of instability or shakiness at all. It doesn't always swing in the direction I want it to swing fast enough, but that's probably just because I haven't completely gotten used to using a gimbal.
The unit itself is easy to hold in the hand and most of controls are within easy reach for one-handed use. The trim controls (zoom) are a little awkward to use, but as I've used it more, it's become easier.
My one complaint is that it requires the DJI software to take video with the gimbal. I completely understand why that is (the OS has no concept of a gimbal), but it's not a great app. It does fine, but it's not the easiest thing in the world to use. A lot of hidden options. Plus, it has not yet been updated to take fully take advantage of the new cameras in the newest iPhones. That said, it does its job and I have no complaints about the video quality.
I would highly recommend this if you are looking for smooth video. If the built in stabilization in your phone's camera is good enough for you, the case for this is a bit less.

I had held off on purchasing a gimbal for either phones or smaller cameras since their introduction for one reason or another, but as of the last year my reasons for wanting one were raised significantly as I found my phone videos of my toddler becoming more and more intolerable to watch during any kind of action or following him around. Checking back in on the status of their development it seems many companies are settling on a design for them that maximizes portability use cases and overcomes previous technical limitations. Namely, no top or bottom ports are blocked now during use allowing for plugging in power or external mics, while folding up during non use into a fairly small space.
The design change isn't without its flaws, however, as some maneuvers seem a little more obtuse to accomplish than it would seem should be possible, and initial balancing is a bit cumbersome and needs to be repeated every time leading to a repeated time consuming setup. Combined with the fact that the terminology present in the DJI software to control it is downright confusing and misleading, upon first use I was originally hating this device and within hours I was ready to return it. I'm glad I cooled off a bit and looked into some YouTube videos of people who had reviewed it in depth in a fashion that made sense to the typical end user as to what was actually right and wrong with it during use (iPhonedo on YouTube), because over the next couple days it all made sense and I was creating videos with an astounding upgrade in professionalism to them.
While the DJI app shows off a lot of what it can do for you, and is probably good enough for most people who just want a steady shot, it stops short in so many ways and is the only real issue I still have with it as a whole. After you figure it out and are able to maneuver it, if it's true video quality you're after, the DJI app as a capture platform isn't great. Jumping over to even the stock iOS camera app will often do better for me, and even better yet FilmicPro will take you to the next level. However, even 3 months post launch DJI has yet to release their SDK so using the gimbal properly is not possible in any other app. This can be somewhat remedied by dropping into the DJI app and setting the operation mode you want to be in for how it rotates, and then jumping back to Filmic or whatever to record. For me that's setting it to FPV in video record mode and then quitting. However, you're still pretty much left with no access to any of the buttons and are forced to tap the screen to record or change settings. Some apps will recognize the record button for what it is, but others sometimes don't, so again you're left tapping the screen. I do believe this will change once the SDK comes out, so I'm holding out on knocking points off for that.
