    Great Idea, Poor Execution

This is my 2nd time buying this camera, as the first time i bought it it had a-lot of issues and no real accessories (around Christmas 2018). Its stabilization is fantastic for the most part (you still get a slight bounce with each step) but getting it to focus on such a tiny screen or any change in light, totally throws off the sensor so i returned it. Few months go buy, and some acessories come out for it like the scroll wheel and wireless adaptor, and everyone insists the firmware updates fixed alot of issues, but even on the latest firmware, it just runs poorly to me. I still get a lot of pulse focusing and any change in light throws it off, it runs really hot when shooting in 4k to the point where its uncomfortable to hold it, no matter what i do it breaks up footage into 5 min sections, and the acessories dont always work with all the adaptor cases and mounts. Overall its a ok camera that has a great idea, but poor execution. The Wifi and scroll wheel should have been built in from the beginning not sold as accessories... The field of view should be wider especially for blogging, and it should have a removable battery. My advice, wait for the 2nd gen!

    Expected More

After using for 2 hours, I am very disappointed with the quality of the images and video. I was on DJI’s latest firmware and have a lot of experience with DJI products and other gimbals. The video was extremely grainy. That was the deal breaker. No way any of those promos were shot with an Osmo Pocket. Let’s hope the Hasselbad Osmo or X5s/x7s handhelds offer something. Maybe I just got a bad one... happens sometimes.

    Wait for OSMO Pocket 2

This is a great idea and a fun peak into the future, however it’s just not worth the purchase yet in my opinion. There are still way to many software bugs. The auto focus is way to slow and the FOV is way to tight. Most of the video I captured over the holidays turned out blurry and out of focus. The audio is very scratchy due to the small size and your hand rubs near the mics, even when being cautious. The tiny screen is borderline useless, but I am glad it was included. I did update the firmware and optimize the settings before using it also. It needs to be attached to your phone to use 80% of its features, which at that point you might as well just shot the video with your iPhone XS or Galaxy S9. The only image quality you will lose is the better stabilization. Hopefully firmware updates fix most of these issues and then OSMO pocket 2 could be a real winner.

    Gets To Hot

I purchased this and wanted to use it on our family outings. But after recording for about 30 minutes at the highest resolution it got FAR to warm to hold which defeated the purpose of purchasing this. Maybe after a software update or so it will work better and I can purchase it again. Needless to say I did return it.

Hey Foz, sorry you felt the Osmo Pocket was unable to stay cool enough for your purposes. It's designed to self-dissipate heat to avoid having to use any fans which could disrupt audio capture and drain more battery. Our engineers are aware of your concerns and will attempt to lessen the effect as much as possible. Thanks for your input. DJISupport

    Unpleasant Experience--may return it

I really thought I would love this product, but so far I have had an unpleasant experience. If I cannot get things resolved through DJI Product support, I will return the camera. Because I have a Samsung S7, I had to borrow my wife's Iphone to activate and download the update. She was not thrilled to add an app to her phone. Eventually, I got through the process. At one point I accidentally RESET the unit. It defaulted to Chinese language. A fairly quick trip on-line showed me how to get the language back to English. However, it appears that it also put the operating system back to the previous version, so the unit does not snap to the "storage position" when the camera is turned off and the firmware info in the camera shows a 1.something version. After buying the necessary adapter for my phone, I have tried to download and install the update again, but am not prompted that an update is available. I thought I would love this camera, but at this point, I do not.

      Hi GsmX2,

We are sorry that you are not having a good experience with the Osmo Pocket. The unit is designed to work with newer phones that use either USB-C or Lightning plugs. We are working on a way to activate it using the DJI Assistant, but for now it needs a compatible phone. DJISupport

I did not like at all. Very awkward to use. Very complex to learn how to use. Way way to fragile for anything beyond walking. Arm is tiny and fragile.

Nice, clean/clear pic and video but too expensive and should not need a phone to capture high quality videos. Wish it was more independent

      Hi Lorold,

We are sorry you aren't happy with the product. Are you referencing being able to enter Log modes or simply being able to access more pro frame rates like 24 and 48 FPS? DJISupport

Product build was amazing and so was the premium feel however thats where the praise stops. This Osmo was in no way better then todays high end smart phones ie. pixels, iphones etc. The video stabilization was great but video quality in anything other then great lighting well....it falls off a clif

Hey Waverider. We're really sorry to hear you are not satisfied with the video quality of Osmo Pocket. We've seen many users prefer the video quality of the Osmo Pocket over smartphones, but can still understand and appreciate your input. We are constantly developing and releasing firmware that improves everything from video quality to battery life so I'm sure we can expect Osmo Pocket to get even better in the near future. Yea, 64 years old and I am embarrassed I got this, IF I show the kids an wife while on vacation. It's like a toy. Plus no replaceable battery, no way to check sound, and, yea, a lot that makes me one embarrassed Dad. Gotta sneak it back to Best Buy before they find it.

Takes great pictures and when the gimble works, it works great. Unfortunately, I can’t get it to work right and it continues to go outta calibration. When I finally do get it to calibrate correctly, it works until I turn it off, then I’m back to the same issues.

I really think this product is cool when you hear about it and sounds awesome but in order to use it best you have to plug it into your phone. My iPhone takes just as good as video if not betterz
