Great "beginner" drone but even for beginners it will quickly grow to not feed needs. The palm controls don't work as well as you think, and since it isn't running the same connection as the DJI mavic pro your range in town with the spark will only be about 500-1000 feet if you go out to a more desolate area you can get out to around 4-5000 feet with video not being to bad this is with the OTG cable of course. If you just use WiFi you WONT get video feed further than 100-150ft

I didn't really like this drone. I had an issue with it from the very beginning. It kept losing connection to the remote it was packaged and paired with.

This is our second drone. Our first drone, which I use personally is a Mavic Pro. This is for my wife who was so jealous when she saw me flying my MP. We bought this thinking its perfect for first timers and I was right about that. The only thing I didn't like about this is the WIFI connection. We had to buy an OTG for a better connection between the remote and iPhone. This drone is so tiny and even small kids can fly this.

The Spark offers a solid set of features and good flight performance for the price. The RC makes flight control precise and responsive. Fun once you can get it flying. The significant downside: atrocious setup and possible quality issues. As with most products today, written literature is minimal. Have another device available for troubleshooting other than the main control device, as switching between the apps (and losing your place in DJI Go) will exhaust you. My issues started with a defective RC. After working through every option to exclude user error, DJI phone support confirmed faulty hardware. Thanks to Best Buy for an easy exchange. RC issue resolved, still could not connect to the aircraft. Support forums correctly indicated all internet connections to the control device need to be disconnected; active cellular data connection will prevent a connection . Once I cleared that hurdle, app continued to read "Cannot take off." in red, with the apparent issue being the inability to update No Fly information. Again, at the advice of third party forums, I had to sideload an earlier version of the app before the updates could be completed, unlocking the aircraft. Even when things go right, it takes a significant amount of time to get airborne between setting up the device (e.g., disabling all internet connections), clicking through screens, acknowledging updates, acknowledging warnings, etc. Setup is far too cumbersome with too many known issues for this price point. The app functions like an unstable beta.

      Hi BayouSteve,

We are sorry that you had to go through all of those issues. Hopefully your experience moving forward with the Spark is much better. DJISupport
