This controller overall is pretty solid. Got it for free as part of the Spark promo. The basic controls work fine, and I have tested the range out to about 1000m. At that point it does start to get a bit spotty, but works. Make sure to angle the antennas as described in the manual for maximum signal. The wifi to the phone works perfect and solid. It is well sized in your hands and weighs about as much as it should. Plenty of buttons to control various aspects of you Spark. My Note 8 fits, which is one of the larger phones out there. The only complaint I have with this controller are that the sticks and camera wheel needs more exponential. Its too linear, which makes it tough to produce smooth, cinematic footage and general smooth flying experience. It either needs more exponential or a button that puts you in high exponential mode. Yes, there is tripod mode from within the app, but that only slows down the movements in a mostly linear fashion. I want small inputs to be infinitesimal and large inputs to be proportionally large, aka, exponential. Overall, its solid. However, high exponential mode is a pretty obvious thing that needs to be there, and its not.

The Spark remote has good battery life, is very responsive, has some useful hard keys that can be pressed without looking down like you would with the app and is compact. I wouldn't fly my Spark without it. In fact the one time I actually tried to fly with just my phone by swiping the touchscreen, it seemed laggy. The exceptions would be using the Active Track mode, Gesture mode, or Quick Shot modes, which don't require the remote; but even for those I keep the remote handy -- just in case. I also have an extender that holds my 9.7" tablet and a short USB cable to connect the remote to my tablet.

I know theres Hand controls and you can just use your smartphone, but please do yourself a favor and just buy one of these. Charge on them lasts forever and it just makes the experience so much better.

I first used the spark with the wifi only and I loved it. But once I got the remote to fly it farther it made it that much better and easier to use and control. A must have for the spark.

Analog controls are a must for this drone. You get increased control and more distance. Without it, you have to use a clumsy app on your phone which is not what this was designed for

Absolutely essential to effectively control the spark. Without it, you’re missing out on tactile response and unable to control the gimbal while moving. Don’t leave home without it

The remote is a must grab to fly your drone at max performance. The remote is easy to operate a must grab people.

The remote is a must have. You get a long distance then just using the phone. You all so get a better control then the phone app. too.

You absolutely need this RC for the DJI Spark. It extends the range 10 fold and provides for a better experience flying the Spark.

This makes controlling the drone 1000 times easier. The touchscreen control sometimes lag or lose connection and this gives you way more distance. No brainer

This remote seriously changed the way we were able to utilize our Spark. Before purchasing, we were using the app from our phones and had 0 control which made it super sketchy to fly where we really wanted to. Purchasing the remote now allows us to take our little guy anywhere! Great responsiveness!

If you are a Spark owner, I highly recommend getting this remote. I have flown the drone using a smart phone and by using gesture mode and although it works ok, it is a whole new animal with the remote controller. You get a lot more distance with the RC and also more functions like Sport mode.

I got my Spark as a Father's Day Gift and bought the RC. It gives much better control over the drone than using just your cellphone. So far I've been able to reach over 5000ft in distance with no real problem with the Wifi signal. I am using an OTG cable that I bought from Best Buy.

The controller is great and easy to use. A must have for the phone/ control hook up and increased range and performance.

The remote works well although as I said in my review of the DJI spark itself the entire system does not fly as far as the documentation says it will the best I could get was about 400 yards. Also I have a Samsung Galaxy S9 and it does not want to fit into the holders on the remote control so that's an issue. And the last thing I would say is that from time to time I would lose signal between the phone and the remote so having the cord connected is a better option.

Got this as part of my spark purchase and can’t imagine having the drone without it. Radically increases ease-of-use. With the remote, my five-year-old daughter can fly the drone. Would be very difficult for her to do without. A really great addition to the spark.
