Just like the Wii U version of the game, Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze for the Switch is a tough platformer. That being said, with enough perseverance, most people should be able to make their way through it. If you like challenging levels and gathering collectibles that are sometime equally challenging to acquire, you'll probably like this game. The addition of a new character Funky Kong allows people that might struggle with the title otherwise to have a better chance at completing it.

Fun game and challenging. I decided to get this for the switch, I’ve already completed it on the wii-u a few years ago so I knew I would enjoy it. Some of the levels are difficult, but give a good sense of accomplishment when you finally get through a tough spot. Graphics look great on the OLED screen on the newest switch model.

I am a long time fan of this game series and was not let down by this game. I had heard many positive things about this one and have to agree thus far. I do admit the control scheme can be a bit annoying (some gimikiy new fame mehanics cause for some light but unnessisary overcomplication) and the swim physics become aggravating in the water levels, but so far these feel like small nitpicky flaws. The level themes, land based game mechanics, music, secrets, split parhways, etc. are all very impressive. Even the enemies and bosses are leaving a positive impression on me despite the lack of traditional Kremlin's for the first time. The storyline, gameplay and villains are very new but in the end it still feels like a donkey Kong country series game and one of the better ones at that.

I got the original game on WiiU for my brithday, I instantly fell in love with it.
The visuals, the amazing level design and incredible soundtrack all come together to make a near perfect platformer.
I honestly can't say a single bad thing against this game.
Each level is fun to play and I can't even think of one level I dread to replay which is extremely rare for me and platformers.
I would recommend this game to anyone, it's amazing.

Much, much, much better than DKC Returns on the wii. Loved the previous installment but this one right here just blows it out of the water! You've got more kongs to choose from which adds more replay value to the game as each character gives you different play styles. The graphics are gorgeous and the music is top notch!
This game was underrated on the Wii U, but nows its chance to shine again! So please give it a chance, it's a great game!

Difficulty in Tropical Freeze is unrelenting, but almost never feels cheap, with one major exception. One of the later rocket-barrel levels was so frustrating, it’s not only my least favorite level in Tropical Freeze, it’s one of my least favorite levels, ever. You’re required to navigate tiny, deadly corridors using the clunkiest controls in the game. I put it up there with the underwater dam level in the original TMNT for NES. I really hated it,

I had Tropical Freeze on the Wii U, but had to double dip because I enjoyed it so much. The game is largely unchanged, with the exception of the easer Funky Mode. If you owned it previously, no need to get it again, but if you didn't, this is an absolute must-have for your Switch library.
Environments are fun and colorful, music is fantastic, controls are great, and the game is just the right level of challenging.

This is platforming at its best. Having never played it on the wii u, this was a gem of a game and has aged incredibly well. If you never finished it on wii u or never played it, I highly recommend it. This version also adds "funky kong mode" and it made the experience so enjoyable that I never felt frustrated even the hardest levels (and there are some really difficult ones). Funky mode just was icing on an already sweet cake.

One of the greatest games ever made! This brings back soo many childhood memories and it’s great to teach my kids all about the game and watch them giggle with joy and get frustrated just like I did back in the day.

I originally missed out on this due to it being on Wii U, but now that it's been ported to Switch, it's even better than ever. This game is indeed very tough, as is expected with Donkey Kong games, but the new optional Funky mode does help alleviate the challenge and increase accessibility for everyone.

This was my first Donkey Kong Country game that I managed to play through. Had briefly played each of the prior installments, but this is by far my favorite. The levels and environments are varied, fresh and fun. The music is superb. The gameplay is fun and offers a challenge if you're looking for one. Lots of replay value with a hard mode and speed run modes that can be unlocked in addition to couch co-op play.

Donkey Kong country is one of my all time favorite games. Loved it on the Super Nintendo, loved it on the wii, and I love it on the switch. The bosses are more challenging and require thinking outside the box which is a nice change but also quite frustrating sometimes! This game is everything I was hoping for and I certainly am not disappointed in this purchase.
