This game sadly didn't sale too well in it's initial release (thanks to the Wii U's poor sales) so I hope it's gets more attention on the Switch, and it looks like it is judging from it's sales numbers. This game is just a masterpiece in so many ways, the level design is amazing and lush with detail, the music is some of the best the industry has to offer, the selection of characters is the most a Donkey Kong has had to date (and now this version adds Funky), playing in 2 player co-op is a blast and the bosses are unique and fun. Overall amazing!

As is typical with Donkey Kong games, this game is brutally difficult. Thank goodness they included the playable character Funky Kong, making it easier to beat the game. I also like how Funky Kong isn’t just easy mode. I still die a lot even when playing as him.
It’s worth mentioning that the level design and environments are fantastic. There are tons of diverse environments to play through, and some of the set pieces are breathtaking. One level where you travel in a mine cart comes to mind.

I used to enjoy playing donkey kong as a kid myself even in the Atari, then all the donkey kong countries. And it's still great today with DK tropical freeze on the switch, beautiful graphics and a world of fun especially with more then 1 players, playing with someone else presents it's own set of set of challenges as you must work together to get through the levels and depend on each other which is great. If you love Donkey Kong, I think you'll love this.

Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is amazing. The level design is some of the greatest in all of gaming, the environments have outstanding variety, and there is an array of colorful enemies and bosses. While difficult, it’s a journey well worth experiencing.

Back to basics. A smooth, high fidelity version of the classic donkey kong that won our hearts in the 90s. Super nostalgic for anyone who played the original DKC games on Super Nintendo, but fun and easy to pick up and play for anyone who is knew the franchise or this 2D side scrolling version of it. This game isn't entirely 2D either, it definitely feels fresh and updated. Loads of fun!

The DKC trilogy on Super Nintendo were among my favorite games growing up. Tropical Freeze is...a different experience. The controls to this game feel floaty and not as tight and on point as some of the great SNES platformers of yore, which appeals to many but not me (for the record, I consider Super Mario World to be the greatest platformer of all time due to its wonderful control scheme, with Donkey Kong Country 2 a very close second).
However, the level design, soundtrack (by the great David Wise!), and visuals are all sublime. The boss fights are more challenging and more entertaining that DKC 1 and 3, and likely surpass 2 in my eyes, as well.
The only other complaint I have is the generic bonus rooms. These are worse than the original DKC trilogy and truly feel uninspired. Hopefully Retro will get a chance to right these wrongs in a potential sequel.

Just like the Wii U version of the game, Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze for the Switch is a tough platformer. That being said, with enough perseverance, most people should be able to make their way through it. If you like challenging levels and gathering collectibles that are sometime equally challenging to acquire, you'll probably like this game. The addition of a new character Funky Kong allows people that might struggle with the title otherwise to have a better chance at completing it.

Fun game and challenging. I decided to get this for the switch, I’ve already completed it on the wii-u a few years ago so I knew I would enjoy it. Some of the levels are difficult, but give a good sense of accomplishment when you finally get through a tough spot. Graphics look great on the OLED screen on the newest switch model.

I am a long time fan of this game series and was not let down by this game. I had heard many positive things about this one and have to agree thus far. I do admit the control scheme can be a bit annoying (some gimikiy new fame mehanics cause for some light but unnessisary overcomplication) and the swim physics become aggravating in the water levels, but so far these feel like small nitpicky flaws. The level themes, land based game mechanics, music, secrets, split parhways, etc. are all very impressive. Even the enemies and bosses are leaving a positive impression on me despite the lack of traditional Kremlin's for the first time. The storyline, gameplay and villains are very new but in the end it still feels like a donkey Kong country series game and one of the better ones at that.

I got the original game on WiiU for my brithday, I instantly fell in love with it.
The visuals, the amazing level design and incredible soundtrack all come together to make a near perfect platformer.
I honestly can't say a single bad thing against this game.
Each level is fun to play and I can't even think of one level I dread to replay which is extremely rare for me and platformers.
I would recommend this game to anyone, it's amazing.

One of the greatest games ever made! This brings back soo many childhood memories and it’s great to teach my kids all about the game and watch them giggle with joy and get frustrated just like I did back in the day.

Much, much, much better than DKC Returns on the wii. Loved the previous installment but this one right here just blows it out of the water! You've got more kongs to choose from which adds more replay value to the game as each character gives you different play styles. The graphics are gorgeous and the music is top notch!
This game was underrated on the Wii U, but nows its chance to shine again! So please give it a chance, it's a great game!

Difficulty in Tropical Freeze is unrelenting, but almost never feels cheap, with one major exception. One of the later rocket-barrel levels was so frustrating, it’s not only my least favorite level in Tropical Freeze, it’s one of my least favorite levels, ever. You’re required to navigate tiny, deadly corridors using the clunkiest controls in the game. I put it up there with the underwater dam level in the original TMNT for NES. I really hated it,

I had Tropical Freeze on the Wii U, but had to double dip because I enjoyed it so much. The game is largely unchanged, with the exception of the easer Funky Mode. If you owned it previously, no need to get it again, but if you didn't, this is an absolute must-have for your Switch library.
Environments are fun and colorful, music is fantastic, controls are great, and the game is just the right level of challenging.

This is platforming at its best. Having never played it on the wii u, this was a gem of a game and has aged incredibly well. If you never finished it on wii u or never played it, I highly recommend it. This version also adds "funky kong mode" and it made the experience so enjoyable that I never felt frustrated even the hardest levels (and there are some really difficult ones). Funky mode just was icing on an already sweet cake.
