Dracula retold showing how & why Vlad became Dracula. This shows a side of the 'Dark Prince' you never knew before. The storyline flows well with few if any lulls keeping you engaged throughout. The subplot is interwoven seemlessly without being distracting or disjointed from the main storyline. Character development is excellent as are the effects, backstory, costumes & supporting cast. This whole movie was an unexpected surprise. I highly recommend it.

I've seen some very poorly made Dracula movies in the past but this one was surprisingly good! I didn't believe that this story could be told any better than it had been but I was wrong. This was very very good!

Although this reminds me somewhat of Bram Stoker's 1992 version, it's still very different ... more ACTION ... less DRAMA. So for action junkies like me, you can't go wrong!!

This isn’t Citizen Kane. It was a movie designed to help set up the Universal Monster universe. Did it work? Probably not. Does it change this movie? Nope. It was a fun little movie. The visuals are great. Luke Evans did a fine job. You empathize with a guy that makes a sacrifice to protect his loved ones. You don’t see Dracula, in my opinion, as a monster. Now, does this vision of the story work for everyone. Not sure. But it was enjoyable. Some violence and gore. An interesting telling of the story. And if they do move forward with the universe, an interesting ending leaving it open for a sequel in modern times. Overall solid. I love fun movies like this. I’m not expecting an Oscar. Just a fun time.

This is an alternate take on Dracula that was surprisingly entertaining considering it's completely unlike anything you've ever seen when it deals with Dracula, and not movies where vampires are solely the focus. Some movies deal with vampires from the action front, but none to my recollection intertwine Dracula with action and a nice beautiful flare cinematography wise.

Love the movie and 4k format. Don't love Best Buy showing their 4K movies online as having a slipcover and then shipping them without it. I have sent several movies back and asked for the one pictured with a slipcover only to be sent another one without the slipcover.

Bought this movie to enjoy an adult vampire movie. Come to find out the lead actor is entirely too handsome and now my wife wants to watch it over and over again. I’m on the quest for a Dracula costume for Halloween now.

Dracula Untold plays out similarly to Disney's Maleficent, where it isn't necessarily a remake or reboot, but a retelling, a 'what if this was actually how it happened'-style movie. The film follows Vlad the Impaler as he looks over Transylvania as Prince. But when the Turkish Sultan Mehmed II comes calling for a thousand boys from Vlad's kingdom, he decides the only thing he can do is confront the demonic force that lay within Broken Tooth mountain, where Vlad previously encountered the creature. Bestowed the unholy gifts of being a vampire, Vlad has three days to protect his kingdom, his family, and fend off the Sultan. But if he is to give into the thirst within those three days, he will remain this beast for eternity. Fighting the thirst, the Sultan's army and his own psyche, Vlad, a man of death who wanted to become a man of peace returns to his old ways in order to save those he cares for. But at what cost? Dracula Untold is good filmmaking and story-telling, giving us a romantic tale mixed with themes of redemption, vengeance, courage, but most importantly, fear. Many people have criticized the depiction of Dracula, but again, this is a retelling. You can't think of Dracula the same way as you did in the Bela Lugosi '31 film or in Bram Stoker's Dracula in '92; this is a different monster, yet familiar. Luke Evans' performance, though, was without a doubt award-worthy and heart-wrenching; the man needs leading roles, because his talent cannot be contained. The supporting cast was good, but no one in particular stood out more-so than others. The visual effects, for the most part, were astounding but some scenes did need a little more work. The musical score from Ramin Djawadi was superbly dark and hauntingly epic, as if channeling his work on Game of Thrones into a more "Lord of the Rings" style score, with epic choral vocals and orchestral melodies. Gary Shore's direction was great, definitely in helping create the dark, grim and violent world of Dracula Untold. The script was good in that there was nothing cheesy about it, but there were many plot holes; the film should have been at least twenty minutes longer to add to the thin back-story. Overall, Dracula Untold is a valiant and good effort, but falls short of being the vampire epic we deserve. But, the film is saved greatly, due in no small part to Luke Evans' acting, the visuals and the storytelling.

The three stars are not for the movie or the 4k quality but for the condition I received this movie. It was obviously a re wrapped copy and it looked pretty bad under the wrapping. I also did not get a packing slip with this movie which would make it easier to return. The movie itself is pretty good, although I have not seen it in 4k blu ray so I can't comment on that. I got it on sale so the price was good too. I would recommend this movie but not re wrapped and looking like it does.

The movie is good. The 4K visuals were a bit underwhelming. Looked more like a Blu-ray. Can't comment on audio as I only have a sound bar.

I did not know about this movie but saw Anna recently showing the same actor. This is a good movie to watch and 4K is surely worth it.
