If you liked the first one you'll most likely find this one more interesting. Slightly a bit open world-y in areas which is different. I love Dragon Quest stuff so I have enjoyed what I played so far. Only downside that it isn't a real Dragon Quest game. I am a bit tired of off shoots of the main game.

There are some people that are hardcore Dragon Quest players, through Nintendo DS, Playstation, etc. I've only played DQ VIII (PS2) and the first DQ Heroes (PS4). Comparing this game along the lines of those games, it's better than DQH1. It's a hack n slash RPG with a fun story, cool characters and abilities to upgrade. I'm no expert RPG or gamer player. I play maybe 5-6 games a year, and after playing a week it's fun whether you are a serious Dragon Quest nut, RPG player or casual gamer. It's an improvement over the first Heroes game but DQ VIII might be the best game I ever played. So I think regardless of your gamer level, it's worth a try and I think you will like it.

I'm not a fan of the mainline Dragon Quest series, but I wanted to try out a game with this style of combat. I really liked how colorful this game is and the great variety of enemies. This game is actually a lot of fun. In addition to fighting hordes of monsters in the main story, there are a lot of interesting side quests. The main story itself is very generic, but still interesting enough, most of the playable characters are cameos from the main Dragon Quest Series (there are 4 original ones, so far), but they are all interesting and quirky. The characters have a lot of variety of weapons and move sets, and the two main characters can change their vocations to give them access to new weapons. The only main issue with this game is that it can become repetitive quickly. Personally I can only play it in short bursts. However, the game counters this by giving you new characters with new weapons and combos, and also by adding new areas and enemies. All in all a very fun experience, when you are in the mood for fast pace action that is light on the story.

More Musou games!! Although the gameplay archetype is most certainly repetitive (to the point where it might be considered dreadful to others) I can't help but fall in love with it again. My Guilty pleasure.

I am new to the Dragon's Quest games, only playing Dragon Quest builder beforehand. So far, this is a pretty good action rpg. There isn't a ton of strategy so far, so hoping that increases as time goes on. Graphics are very JRPG and the fights are more button mashing than skill, but so far it has been enjoyable.

    Expanding on the Original

This is an expanded version (with a new story, of course) of the original Heroes. What you're getting is a DQ themed musou title with RPG elements. It plays well, but musou tiitles are mostly semi-repetitive hack and slash. Good and bad.

The first Dragon Quest Heroes was a fun new romp across Dragon Quest locales, and the sequel is even better! More characters, more stages, more monsters and most importantly... more fun! It is sorely lacking local co-op, but even the online co-op is a nice addition since the original.

Open world aspect didn't really add anything worthwhile to the game play. Game is fun. New RPG mechanics are interesting. A bit over done though. This has more to it than the typical musou spinoff game.

This game is a combination of classic RPGs and hack-and-slash action, its an improvement of the first one, with a similar but improved story and questing. It allows you to travel the world while smash some monster on the way while competing challenges, quest and achievements. The medal system now allows players to transform in a variety of monsters, each with unique skills and fun animations. The co-op multiplayer (which the first Dragon Quest Heroes notably lacked) adds the ability to fight alongside up to three other players "sadly" through only story battles or short dungeons to gather materials. It could use some improvement due to connectivity issues during the matching process and I really wish you could travel the whole world with your friends but is not possible at the moment.

Fun DQ action game, they learned a lot from the first DQ Heroes game and added more characters, objectives, and other mechanics, including "open world" maps to explore, and multiplayer. Sadly, no co-op though.

This is the first Dragon Warrior(Quest) game I've purchased since DQ 9 on the DS back in the day. Meshing DQ and Dynasty Warriors actually works better than I figured it was. Definitely fun.

I think I can safely say that, if you enjoyed the first DQ Heroes game in anyway, you'll feel right at home in the sequel. The more open world design does a good job at making the world feel connected (even if the actual geography makes little sense) and fast travel is activated incredibly early. The only real problem with the game is the massive grindwall that hits the post game, but that's a layover from the first game. There's also a bit of a multiplayer focus at higher levels in the postgame., but the online has been finicky, most likely due to a small community, if I had to guess. It runs fine when it works, but that when is more like an If.

This is a lot of fun if you’re a fan of both Dragon Quest and the Dynasty Warriors Hack N’ Slash. Great for busts of play but does get repetitive if played for long sessions.

If you have played the first Dragon Quest Heroes, or even the Hyrule Warriors (or any Dynasty Warriors) game, then you will know the basic mechanics of this game. Hordes of enemies that you and your allies must fight through. This version has more open world exploration instead of just leaping from mission to mission... and the characters in this version are a lot of fun, with your main choices able to switch between different weapons to skill up in (instead of being locked into one). Overall, the improvements are small, but they are improvements nonetheless and I find the game a lot of fun to play.

The first Dragon Quest Heroes is a start to a good game. The sequel brings out a new cast of heroes with a strong indication that the heroes from the first game will make an appearance. It changes a couple of things but it still is a fun and great game.

The story is a bit interesting. I mainly got it for the characters and being able to just mindlessly slaughter tons of units like the DW/SW games. Fun game.
