This is turn based role playing at its best. It is great to level grind on the go! Awesome story, characters and graphics!

DQVIII is one of the greatest RPGs ever. I enjoyed the original PS2 version immensely, and the 3DS version, which has more features, more party members, better Monster encounters (not random), and still looks great, is even better. The soundtrack is impressive in that it still retains much of the charm, even though it's not orchestrated, though sometimes you can tell the difference. In any case, don't miss this one; fans of JRPGs in general will love this game, and this version of it!

The game looks stunning, and it looks like they got rid of random battles and added more characters. Highly recommended!

I got the PS2 version of Dragon Quest VIII several years ago, but never completed the game. I was excited to get this portable version of the game since I spend a lot of time commuting on the metro and I mostly play games on the go these days. The DS version is a great port of the original. Graphics are nice and cut scenes are still voice acted. No 3D in this game though. Definitely worth checking out for RPG fans or fans of the Dragon Quest series.

If you are familiar with the Dragon Quest series then you probably already know that this game is one of the best in the series. In the DS version they've streamlined some parts of the game, and made changes that really enhance the experience. Pick it up and then kiss your free time goodbye!

Oh there are so many great memories from the ps2 version. This one captures the feel of the original and builds on it. More quests, characters and faster item creation. Also you can see the enemies now which is a plus. Only thing the ps2 better was the music. However, if you never played the original, you will not notice the difference. I would buy copies for any relatives or friends who wanted this game. Thats how great it is.

Ah. Yes. Dragon Quest VIII. Having played the original I was...excited to play it again on the 3DS. This port did not disappoint. Nooo. It suffers a bit in the audio department as the dialogue has a bit of a tinny sound to it. Draw distance has also taken a hit. However the added features, such as the camera side quests and the removal of random battles, more than make up for these flaws. Yesss.

Dragon Quest VIII was the first Dragon Quest game I ever played, and it remains my favorite one, as well as one of my favorite games of all time. DQ8 has many hours of gameplay, and plenty to do even after finishing the main plot line. The addition of having a couple extra characters to add to your party, as well as having it on the 3DS made it a very worthwhile purchase.

It was already a fantastic entry to the dragon quest franchise, now I can take it wherever I like on my 3ds. Pros: Still one of the best dragon quest games out there, this version balanced things a bit and reduced some of the grind (like the wait on alchemy) Cons: Localization took out the wonderfully orchestrated music, and there's some bad pop-up in the overworld.

I played the original on Playstation one over 10 years ago. It was a great very long rpg. They finally brought it back with updated graphics and now portable. It's not loaded with confusing menus, or crazy customization options. They also redid the way battles work. No more random battles, you can now see the enemies and choose to engage. What more can you ask for.

Dragon Quest VIII is a great RPG that is easily accessible for newcomers. No knowledge of prior games in the series is required and the game is designed to appeal to all ages. It was already a classic on the Playstation 2 but the 3DS version offers many welcome additions like the ability to save more frequently that make the game more enjoyable.

Dragon Quest VIII is one of the best Dragon Quest Games in the series. A true testament to how an old school JRPG can excel with modern gaming. It can be a bit long in the tooth at times and the story doesn't pick up until halfway through the game, but the characters are great, the game looks awesome and the old school grind is as good as ever!

So far I am happy to have found this game at Best Buy because it is no longer in production. It was the final Dragon Quest game we got here in the states. The Japanese got another incredible one for the 3ds which is Dragon Quest 11. So this is remade with wonderful graphics and really long and in depth
