This is by far one of my favorite movies of all time. The real/practical effects dominate even today’s CGI, IMO, & this is from 1981. I was 14 when this came out. I was blown away then, & I am blown away again, what with its masterful restoration. Why it took so long to go beyond its initial DVD release is beyond me. Maybe it was a Rights issue, being a rare collaboration twixt Disney & Paramount. If you’re into fantasy settings/stories, then this is for you. Great actors? Check. Great sets? Check. Great story? Check. Great effects? Check. Great wardrobe? Check. I’ve had the DVD for years. Therefore, when I saw it’s been released on 1080p Blu-ray, I grabbed one, like that *snaps fingers*, & I also grabbed this 4k steelbook version at the same time, & I don’t even have a 4k player yet (but I can play it on my PS5 for now). Seeing as the 4k UHD didn’t come with a Blu-ray packed in, too, I grabbed both before they sold out. Only the Blu-rays are left in February 2024, so grab one before one has to wait another 20 years, and before physical media is no longer sold here.

The 4k on this is amazing, the color and the picture is alot better from previous formats. If you're a fan of the film it's a must pick up.

Man this was a very cool movie, awesome practical effects and an appearance from Emperor Palpatine himself!

Super fun movie and best buy always has new steelbooks old and new movies

One of my favorite movies of all time available in 4K (with a steel book) and the sound and picture didn't disappoint. I'm happy that I was able to snag one since it seems to have had a resurgence in popularity (literally now getting discovered as a great film, not just from the 80's but perhaps of all time).

This is an excellent and high quality transfer/upscale of one of the classic dark fantasy films before the era of Lord of the Rings and it's contemporaries. The film is a fun and bizarre fantasy adventure that is often unsettling and creepy and frequently interesting and manages to do a lot with the technology of the era in terms of immersing you in its world.

This is an awesome movie from an awesome time, 1981. Great storyline and superb practical effects makes this a memorable movie. I was wondering when this movie would become available on blu ray and now 4K too. Let me tell you the picture and sound on this 4K disc is something to be reckoned with. It is outstanding and near reference quality. You must own this.

This movie was always a mainstay during my childhood, in 1981 I was six when it was released and it blew my mind back then. Fast foward to 2023 and it has finally recieved a much welcomed 4k transfer, which is spectacular in my honest opinion. If you love the sword and sorcery fantasy flicks of yesteryear then you owe it to yourself to pick this up.

The beautifully designed artwork for the steelbook only enhances the already splendid effort to make Dragonslayer look, if anything, better than it did during its original theatrical run. The Atmos soundtrack as well is breathtaking, and this belongs on the list of releases that surpass expectations.

Great Steelbook for a classic 80’s dragon movie. The picture is clean, with great surround sound. The movie also has nice extras. I remember seeing this movie in the theaters. I forgot about the twist near the beginning of the movie with the wizard. All in all. A good 80’s dragon movie wrapped in a gorgeous steelbook.

Excellent 4K transfer, both picture & Dolby Atmos sound. This disc in terms of quality, is right up there with Star Trek - The Motion Picture (The Director's Cut) and Blade Runner - The Final Cut, from the late 70's & early 80's. The director commentary, hosted by Guillermo Del Toro is also a treat!

I have been a fan of this movie since my first time watching it as an early teen. This version looks fantastic and the steelbook art is great and adds collectibility to this edition. Everything about this version is a must-buy for those who needs it in their collection (that's you!) :)

Dragonslayer is the perfect dragon movie! (Along with dragon heart!) And the effects are really good for the 80s and still hold up to this day! Highly recommend this great fantasy epic

One of my favorite movies and the steel book is pretty cool. And the 4k resolution is nice but I’m not opposed to the grainy DVD look it just appeals to me. Overall a great movie at a great price.

I really enjoyed this old movie. Practical special effects make movies better. CGI ruins modern movies. Give this movie a chance if you like fantasy movies and practical effects.

One of my favorite films of all time. Saw it many times on tv and vhs back when I was a boy. The movie looks and sounds stellar on UHD Blu-ray. Great extra features too

A very good classic movie I first seen this movie on vhf cassette long ago. I am glad it has a new format and has lasted the test of time

If this movie is to your taste, you are going to love this release. First of all, the SteelBook packaging is stunning. Absolutely one of the best of 2023! The slipcase includes the beautiful original poster art with a gloss black. Slip it off and the SteelBook includes this gorgeous dragon artwork on the front and back with different images. So, no, it is not a wrap-around pieces, but, oh, is it amazing. Pop it into your 4K player and be further amazed by the incredible restoration work done on this classic 80s fantasy film. The film grain is there. The detail is present. The colors look spot-on and the HDR delivers some highlights but it does not go overboard. The Dolby Atmos is also bringing an enhancement to the audio presentation. It is full and there are some overhead affects, but it does not overdo it in this department either. This is a definite must-own for any fan of the film. It also may entice others to enjoy it and add it to their collections to watch again and again.

Excellent Add to Movie Collection - Glad to see this added to the available 4K Steelbook Movies selection. Good Special effects and visuals. Plot keeps you entertained and engaged throughout.
