I read the entire series 20+ years ago.) The 2h 35m runtime went zipping by for me. Impressive sound track in Dolby Atmos-TrueHD Stunning visuals: the desert and sciFi technology Cool visualization of the ornithopters from the book.

A Movie for the True Sci-Fi Fans Only

I read the book years ago and enjoyed it. That being said, I watched this with other family members who found the storyline confusing until it got closer to the end. After 2.5 hours this is Part 1 of 2. It’s a little slow and methodical. The acting is good and the sets and cinematography excellent. I would suggest you read the book before watching the movie so it makes more sense immediately and you appreciate it more.

Do not watch the HBO stream, watch this

It's not just the video, the audio itself (if you're using Dolby Digital and not Atmos) is dramatically superior. This is as close as I can get to a Dolby Cinema experience at home, with an OLED screen and a non-Atmos Sonos system.
