Functional but poor design

Wiring is easy, functionality is there, but unit design is poor.
The screws for the cover plate need to be a tad longer. Speaking of cover, even when as tight as can be, it is not flush to the outlet portion. So the cover has a gap from the wall. You can see this will be the case even BEFORE installing the unit becasue it is not machined correctly (vs. a standard outlet mates perfectly with it's cover and thus will be flush with the wall when installed). This is a design flaw and has nothing to do with the outlet box or wiring.
I presume the poor design is why this was on Best Buy Deal of the Day. Thats fine, just BUYER BEWARE.
For now, I can live with the gap. May replace them once prices on competitors goes down or BB fixes this flaw with improved units.
Took two pix: 1) of this outlet showing the gap, 2) a competitor outlet I installed previously in a different room - no gap and nice and flush to the wall.

I know there are higher amp chargers out there, but 2.4v is plenty for most things. I bought a bunch of new devices over the holiday that come with chargers that are lower. However I decided after plugging my phone into 3.1 and up chargers and my phones fairly new battery just seemed to be on it's way out after that I might not want to plug my usb devices into something that high and if I do have a device that is rated for that, I can use the provided charger.
Maybe future proof you could go with something higher, but it seems unless we really improve batteries, pushing them to their limits and getting them hot or in the case of bursting on fire, I think I will stick with what seems safe, especially when I have devices that sometimes charge rapidly when they weren't designed to go that high in the first place. So I feel good about my choice for these. It was on sale, so good price really for two(which was also a major deciding factor).
The install was easy and I liked how the back was designed for multiple wires. I just stripped the end, inserted it into the back under the retention clip and screwed down the screw. I much preferred that over inserting the wire into a push release plug. Simply because it was easier. If you were daisy chaining them, you might fumble a bit getting two wires into the holes and screwing it down. Overall, happy with my purchase and I feel the wall plate is much higher quality than most you find in the store to go over it. I just wish I hadn't of damaged the white screws getting them out. They were fairly tightened down when I received it. Just get a good screw driver that fits, that way they look good after installing them.

I purchased one of these when I first moved into my girlfriend's home, and installed it in our bedroom. I have used it ever since to charge my phone overnight. We are now moving into a new condo, and I have purchased several to make sure that every room has a charging station. When I first saw it listed in my Best Buy Deal of the Day email, I was struck by the cleverness of the idea and purchased one. When I attempted to install it, I discovered a couple of minor challenges in the design. First of all, the depth of the outlet housing is quite a bit more significant than the standard outlet that I was replacing. Hence, getting it to fit into the socket housing in this older home was a little tricky, as I needed to move wires around, etc. Other than that, connecting it was very simple and straightforward.
Second, once installed, I realized that the USB ports are pretty close to the power outlets, making it difficult, if not impossible, to plug in a USB cable and a larger sized power plug at the same time. A charger will fit quite comfortably with a normal size power plug - say a lamp or standard power strip - but if you're attempting to plug in some type of AC converter with a larger plug housing, it may block access to USB port. As previously mentioned, these are very minor challenges. Overall, I’m very happy with the purchase and the usefulness of the item.

This is really convenient. In today’s day and age it’s almost a necessity. Someone is always losing their charger or having to borrow one. I bought these as a deal of the day. It’s worth regular price. The savings are a bonus. If you have basic electrical knowledge they’re easy to install. If you don’t have someone else do it for you.

USB charging locations around the house

These entry level USB charging outlets are practical to place around the house; but you need to be comfortable around electrical work and knowledgeable of safety requirements.
Between our family members, we have about 8 phones needing charging. With these USB outlets, we don't need to worry about finding AC adapters, we just connect the phones directly to the wall outlet using appropriate USB cable.
For the base model (2.4A) is more than enough for charging phones at decent speed. I am using 4 of these outlets around the house. They definitely cleared AC adapter clutter at wall outlets, and made our visitors happier that they do not need carry their power adapters on them.

I picked up these outlets from best buy for a patio I just had enclosed. At 2 for $15 including the wall plates, I figured I would give it a try. They are working as expected without any of the problems you sometimes hear with these types of outlets. I would warn anyone replacing old outlets to be sure their existing outlet box is large enough to accommodate these as they are quite a bit larger than the old fashioned outlets without the USB ports. If I never have any problems with them I would rate them excellent but they were just installed a month ago.

In a world of mobile technology, USBs are needed throughout our home. These were on sale and bought a few to scatter in strategic areas in the house for phone charging purposes. Easy to install if you have a good basic understanding of electrical wiring and is not too complex. If not, then, as always, get a certified electrician to be safe. Otherwise, they work as advertised and have had no issues.

Nice quality multi outlet. 2 in pack for $15. Better quality and price than inferior products found in Lowes and HD. Bought 8 for a project RV conversion so we could charge phones, electronics everywhere. Speed of USB charging is fast but obviously not Q3.0 level. If I think of it I will put my meter on output and update. Recommend.

These have been a nice addition for the simple fact that we can plug in USB charge cables into the outlet and still have the option to have both regular plugs available. I have installed many outlet plugs and these are a little bulky and where hart to fit in the electrical box. Also the connection for the wire was a little difficult. I also use mostly use Apple products and they are switching away from the USB charging cables.

just moved into a new house and decided I wanted to purchase some outlets with USB ports. Once these popped up on the daily deals , I knew I had to pick them up. They work great so far, I've had them for a couple weeks. Charges my phones quickly. Im no electrician but I was able to youtube some videos on how to install them and now I consider myself an expert :). don't be afraid to DIY.

These are great! Used these to replace 2 outlets in our kitchen that were being taken up by chargers for our smartphones. This allows us to keep the charging units where they are, but still use the actual outlets for the instapot, rice maker, or other portable kitchen gadgets. Easy to install and work great.

Bought this to replace an outlet in my bedroom. Install was easy and fast. Took me about 5 minutes with my knowledge and tools. Works very well. Wanted to de-clutter some of my outlets. A downside is depending on the size of the plug you have, it may block the usb port partially where you can't plug it in.

Provides charging for devices that use USB. Works great for charging cell phones that use a USB charging cable. 2.4 A should be enough current to charge most devices. If you are handy, the install is very easy. Be sure to turn off power from the circuit breaker while you are removing the old device and installing the new one.

I bought two of these wall outlets to allow me to charge devices without taking up valuable plug real estate. The installation was easy (my existing boxes were both deep so the extra depth on the plugs was not a problem). I enjoy having the options these outlets provide in my house.

Super Easy to install. If you're wondering, "is it worth it just for a USB port on my out let?" The answer is YES!! It's great to be able to charge my devices without the bulky odd shaped chargers and the ease of just plugging in the USB is great!! It allows you to use twice as many things at one outlet and it looks better than having the bulky chargers.

Great for my kitchen, where everyone is always looking to charge their devices :)
I know a bit about installing outlets but this was by far the easiest i have ever installed. Of course, i had to skip one of the places since when i opened the box, it was filled with wires. The back of these outlets is HUGE, and requires enough room to fit. But other than that, it was easy to install. Need some tools and better turn off the breaker so you wont get shocked. I am a bit disappointed to learn that 2.4 A is NOT per each USB outlet. It is shared. If one device requires 2A, and you plug something else into second USB, they both will share the load and will struggle a bit to charge BUT, if you just have phones and small tablets - you are fine and for the price i paid - it was worth it. You can also use your old or own cover if you want. The one that comes with it is nice but it is smaller. I like mind to be bigger, so, i reused the ones i had before. So, overall - good outlets! My kids are happy and guests are happy, and I am happy :)

Easy install if you know basic electric installs, just make sure to hit the breaker first!! I had mine installed in my daughters room withing 5 minutes. She was very happy that she wouldnt have to have a charging block to plug in the USB side any more, she kept loosing hers. I should have picked up a few more!!

This are great to put around the house for extra USB ports without the need for charging bricks. No issues when charging devices. Just fallow instruction and you’ll be able to install these without the need to hire an electrician. But, to be honest I would upgrade to one that also as type-c usb. There are some that have both.

This is just a quick review.
The Dynex 2.4 amp USB wall outlets won't be the fastest way to charge your phone, tablet, or other accessories, but it's a super-convenient way to do so. On top of phones and tablets, you can also connect USB-powered lighting, smart speakers Qi charging pads, fans, toys and even USB-powered retro-consoles. Things plugged into the regular AC outlets also generally don't block the USB ports, meaning you can connect your phone and smart speaker while powering a fan and a lamp.
Just make sure you're familiar with how wiring works if you buy these, because you are replacing wall outlets with them. If you're not familiar or comfortable with working with wiring, then please hire an electrician to install these for you.
(Please note that my "ease of use" score is based on actually using these and not the installation.)

I've been doing some remodeling and these came at a sale price conveniently timed. It does the job as said. some 120 plugs don't work with the USB ports, but that's kinda expected. They've been used more than I originally thought, so turned out a good deal. I got these with the deal of the day. May take time, but I suggest you wait til then. I waited a couple months til they reappeared again to get more.
