My laptop CPU had crashed so I used a Dynex - 2.5" Serial ATA Hard Drive Enclosure to transfer data from my existing laptop hard drive to another laptop. It was easy to install the existing hard drive in the new enclosure for a newbie. Data transfer went great. Now I have a great looking spare backup drive

My old PC died and I wanted to pull my old documents, photos etc off of it. Could not get my new macbook to recognize this. It's probably user error but I still have more research to do to figure it out.

... to convert a salvaged laptop drive into a portable backup drive ... and to transfer the data from a dead laptop to a new one. This is at least my third, and I'm sure I'll buy more.

Perfect Bday gift for someone who has WAY too much junk on their computer!!! Easy to handle & easy to use. Would definitely recommend to a friend or family member. May even get another for myself!!

This is a great product as an easy fix for housing a hard drive when a laptop goes bad, an external drive connection pins get bent or goes bad. Instructions are easy for anyone to understand and use. This is a great fix for not loosing all your data without spending so much for a repair service.

The original hard drive in my laptop was failing and I wanted to try to retrieve some files off that drive. I also wanted to use the same enclosure later to create an external backup drive.

Overall very happy with the purchase. Enclose works great! Very simple to use. I wish there would be a better way to take in/out the drive without taking screws out. I mean it works great if you just mount one drive, but if you want to swap drives frequently, it's a little bit of work.

I picked the Dynex enclosure to reuse the hard drive from an old laptop. Installation and set up were simple, and the directions were actually well written for a change. I've used Dynex enclosures before, and this model continues the great results I've expected from the company.

I've had a couple of laptops bite the dust in the last year or so. By harvesting the hard drive and using the enclosure, I was able to bring over ALL of my files (MP3, JPG, etc...). I lost nothing. That's awesome...

Needed a quick solution to be able to access content on an old laptop hard drive when the motherboard on the laptop died. This product was priced well for what I needed and was easy to install. Hooked right up to another laptop and was able to retrieve the data I needed.

I have an older laptop that recently quit on me. I bought another laptop and needed to be able to transfer my files from one to the other. I purchased this because I didn't need anything fancy or compatible with 2.5" AND 3.5" SATA drives, and I needed to be able to take it with me without risk to my old laptop drive. This enclosure performs excellently. It works on Windows 8, Windows 7, Ubuntu and its derivative Linux Mint.

This was a great and easy tool to use to retrieve all of my hard drive info after my laptop died. I was dumb & hadn't backed it up, oops. So glad I didn't lose anything!!

Mother board went out on two of my laptops. A friend told me about this gadget. Least expensive way to be able to save all pictures and important stuff on your hard drive.

Enclosure worked perfect. Extremely simple to use. Was able to transfer all of the data from my old macbook pro hard drive to a new 1TB internal hard drive for less money than purchasing a new external. Now I am using the old hard drive and enclosure as a backup.

This enclosure can be used for upgrading PCs or recovering a HD from a failed PC. It works well for both and is small and portable enough to carry for business travel.

My Laptop died and I needed to remove the hard drive so I could use it as an external hard drive to a new computer so I could save files. This was esaily done (well the pros at Geek Squad took out the old computer's hard drive), but the rest was easy.

I bought this product to get all of my pictures and data off of my old HDD when my laptop stopped working. It was very easy to install HDD in the enclosure. Now, not only do I have all my info, but I also have an external HDD to take with me on the go.

My old laptop crapped out and I needed a lot of stuff off of it. I used this product to recover data from my old laptop. I am extremely happy how easy it was to recover my old files. I plugged it in to my new laptop whooosshhhh it was done.

This is a pretty good slim HD enclosure, and it serve the purpose of keeping the drive secure, and doesn't look so bad either. The blue LED is kinda stupid, but to each his own. Someone may actually like the BRIGHT blue blinking LED.
