    Good t.v. for the price

I am pleasantly surprised to get a 55 inch t.v. for this price that works as well as it does. I have only had it since 12-31-11, so I dont know the longevity of the item but so far so good. I would recommend this item for the average person that is not totally tech savy or into exceptional performance or features.

Great Buy on Black Friday 2011

Going into Black Friday 2011, I looked at buying a big screen TV to upgrade my Sony 32'' LCD in the living room. Initially, I was looking to buy the Sharp Aquos 52'' for $799 on Bestbuy.com. Long story short, I took a gamble on this TV (the $599 price tag was too tempting to ignore). I was not disappointed. Shipping was great and the TV arrived as promised on the delivery date I selected. The picture quality is excellent and the sound is surprisingly nice for an LCD. This TV pairs well with Directv, running the HD channels on 1080i. PS3 looks great as well and runs at 1080p. Note: I turned off the "Dynex Motion 120hz" in the advanced video options. It was causing some de-sync'ing issues with sound on some TV shows. It also gave me a horrible headache playing COD MW3. Have now had the TV for over a month, no issues so far. Loving the investment!

    Good TV for Size

I have found this TV to have an excellent picture for the size, the sound quality is above average, and the menu options are basic. I will be using a sound system so that I can get digital input. No digital input on TV but enough ports for all my needs. My complaints are that I have to go through a set up process every time I turn on the TV and the TV will display what port I am using (ex. HDMI4) when I change channels on my Direct TV. The display lasts about 10 seconds and so far have found no way to fix. Excellent TV for the price.

Very Happy - And Money Left Over

I was very close to pulling the trigger on a Samsung 55" LED - for about $1000 more. I knew the picture resolution was marginally better on the Samsung, but the price vs. picture quality ratio just wasn't there for me. Look, a 2011 LCD television is going to have a nice picture if you have HDMI connections to it from HDTV, BLU RAY, or DVD. So I purchased the Dynex 55" for $599 as strictly a monitor. I then bought a Sony BluRay with Google TV for another $159, and viola, I have a "SMART TV" with Netflix, Blu Ray, DVD, YouTube, Internet, etc. all for about $750. And the picture is awesome. I have no regret and no buyers remorse. For another $140, I purchased a 4 year in home warranty, so they come to the house if something goes wrong, and replace the whole set if they can't fix it. Summary: Dynex 55" TV - $599 Sony SmartTV Box - 159 4 Year Warranty - 140 So the total was $1005 (that includes tax) = HOME RUN The picture is great, the set top box is HUGE (takes up the whole wall), I have all the smart TV features, and I am happy.

After a lot of research, and repeated visits to the store to compare picture quality, I am sure I made the right choice! I had my pick narrowed down to 5 different TVs. The only TV that maybe, and I repeat maybe out does this one is the Samsung, and if money is no object then maybe that's the TV for you. I like the fact that I saved $500 -$600. Easy setup. I write this review for those who are leery about purchasing a store brand. Best bang for the buck!

For the price I wasn't really expecting much. Also I looked at some of the other reviews and it was mixed which had me a little worried but after taking a leap of faith I am so happy I bought this television. As soon as I got home I put in a bluray and was blown away at the picture. I was expecting alot of ghosting or dead pixels. but wow what a great picture. the only draw back is that the set is heavy.

My VIZIO broke after only a few years use. It was smaller and we paid alot more for it. So I needed a TV and couldn't afford to spend alot. This TV was on sale and for the price you can't beat it. The picture is VERY VERY nice and sound is awsome. I know it doesn't have alot of the FANCY bells and whistles but I didn't need bells and don't care for whistles. FOr a good TV I am please as punch. In fact My son and a good friend liked mine so much they went and bought one.

    Steer Clear of this Beast

    Posted .

I purchased this TV on 2/3 for the very low price of $599. The large 55" screen and the 120HZ refresh (along with the low price) were the draws. After getting it home and setting it up, my first hints of the cheapness of the TV were its remote control and the static sound made when it first starts. Watching the news on this set was enjoyable, but any image with the slightest bit of motion results in extremely distracting motion blur. I returned it two days later, and the pushy store manager inspected it, and after making me wait 30 minutes, asked me to watch scenes from an action movie on the the set. He said the picture looks pretty good, doesn't it. I simply said are you watching a Blu Ray? He confirmed this, and I said let's watch something from Directv, with 1080I input, using HDMI cable. This set up was unavailable at the store. I then explained how I DVR'd an action movie when I first got the TV, and explained a certain scene in which the motion blur was untolerable. I further told him I immediately watched the exact same scene on Blu Ray, and the image was more acceptable (though still very flawed). After all this, he asked me to take the set back home and give myself some time to adjust to it! I again asked for my refund, and 45 minutes after walking into the store, I was finally walking out with my card being credited. If you have never owned a HDTV and you want a 55" for cheap, this may be the TV for you. All others-- steer clear of this beast. Even my wife, who in the past had told me she couldn't see the difference in picture between the old style tube TV and a new HDTV, told me immediately upon getting the TV first set up how poor the picture and color were. Turning the 120HZ feature on or off makes no difference.

    Amazing price, good t.v.

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Down and dirty: Picture on par with big name brands. Okay speakers. Amazing price. I was a little hesitant about buying an off brand Dynex television. After looking at all the t.v.'s in this size category plus or minus one size level, the Dynex won hands down. I watched the various inputs that BestBuy was pumping into the wall of t.v.'s. I saw no appreciable difference between the Dynex and Sony, Panasonic, LG, or Samsung. Of course, these other brands are assumed to be better t.v.'s. I've read the other comments that talk about ghosting and all that but have not seen anything above what I saw on the other televisions costing hundreds of dollars more. The most difference I could see was comparing the LED t.v.'s to the LCD and Plasma. The LED t.v.'s have a strange quality about the picture almost like everything is computer generated. Anyway, the Dynex is great. The picture on t.v., both standard and HD is great. DVD and Blu-ray look amazing. Speakers are acceptable though I use my surround sound mostly.

Stunning picture quality at an unbelievable price

I was a little hesitant at first when I read some of the negative reviews about ghosting, but there were only 2-3 of those so I took a chance. But I have to say, the picture quality is stunning! It's like the action is happening right in my living room. The level of detail completely changes the feel of the movies in a way that I can't really describe. The first thing I did was hook up my Blu-Ray player in 1080p and watched Avatar. I had seen every variation they had in the theater but none stood up to this TV. The sound is a little weak, but that is OK for me. It allows night time viewing without disturbing people, and when I want sound, I turn on the external speaker system and get all the sound I need. This TV also has a very impressive number of connections so you shouldn't have a problem finding a port for whatever you are trying to connect. I had a friend over and he commended "This is the future of TV" in reference to how clear it was.

Wasn't sure about this TV till I got it home and hooked it up to my satellite receiver. What a picture! Video quality is as good as TV's that were $300 more in the store. Colors were brilliant and, most importantly, it looked just as good in the daylight as it does at night. Setup and installation was a snap. 4 HDMI inputs is a big plus. The only "con" I can see is that the user guide must be downloaded from the Dynex website. Not a problem for me, or most, but might be a problem for some folks. If you are in the market for a 120 hrz LCD TV give this one a look, you will like what you see!

It was not until this year that I finally purchased my first LCD TV. This particular one was the third. Can you guess? The other two are Dynex models also. This brand or TV used with HD and properly tuned offer affordable quality that is unsurpassed. I recall always saying that, I am waiting for the prices to come down, or I am waiting for more bang for the buck. This brand and all three of the models that I have exceed my expectations for the size and price. This was a Best Buy!

    Our First HDTV

This is my first HDTV and I have to say I am impressed. When I looked at it in the store I was a bit skeptical of the picture, they had it at the end of the line about 40 feet away from the controller box and on coaxial. Now that I got it home and hooked it to my Comcast HD DVR box with the HDMI cable it looks awesome. I am not that impressed with the sound but I run everything through my stereo so it really wasnt a big deal for me.. If you are looking for value this is the set for you. If you want gizmos and gadgets then look elsewhere. A good overall TV for movies, TV and gaming.

Bought this TV online on black Friday. Reviews were mixed at that time. Decided to try it. Out of the box settings are horrible. Almost took it back immediately. Bought a high-end HDMI cable, tinkered with different settings and ended up shutting off most of the 'features' and voila! The picture has been incredible. Sound is good. A lot depends on the broadcast quality too. Some channels are much better than others. Sports are great. Very good value. Great TV for the price.

Bought tv during Thanksgiving day sale. Great value at $200 off. Very happy so far. Nice picture quality. Sound is just average. Better to hook up to surround sound or sound bar. Not sure on lifespan. Never owned Dynex before. Had to go to Internet to program cablebox remote.

This TV has been awesome. We have had it for 9 months and it has been amazing. Excellent picture quality. The sound is not as good as it could be, but we use our surround sound most of the time anyways. It is excellent for viewing DVD's, Blu-rays, and video games from all 3 systems. Dodger games are AWESOME on this thing. It also is easy to hook our laptop up to the TV and stream media. So glad we went with this TV over the one we had originally walked in to buy.

I read all the reviews prior to buying this television. The picture is awesome. Sound good, but not great. I almost didn't buy it because of the reviews. I'm glad that I did make this purchase. I did have an issue with the television when the microwave was cut on, the television would blink. The problem was not the television, but the cable. My cable apparently wasn't properly grounded., which effected the television. I purchased a surge proctor from BB and it corrected the problem. I still need to replace the cable box, which was the main problem. Television is really heavy will need two people to hang on the wall.

Has a really good picture until there is movement on the screen and then it struggles to keep up. Not a huge issue, just a nitpicker. It also takes about 10 seconds to turn on. Overall I would recommend it the 600 price point I picked it up at.
