Great TV for the Price but read all the reviews

Obviously this is allot of TV for the money, we initially wanted to buy the Sharp Aquos but after hearing the hype on the DYNEX from the sales person we just couldn't justify paying twice as much for the Sharp and brought the DYNEX 55'. Just before our 30 day return policy was up we did take it back and get the Sharp. Although the DYNEX isn't a bad TV the picture quaility varied so much between the TV channels and movies that we were constantly having to adjust the picture, which we never had to do with our 42' LCD LG TV. I'm glad we spent the extra money for the TV we really wanted and so far I couldn't be happier even though my wallet isn't... Read all the reviews but the botton line - the price is unbelievable.

Good picture considering there are only a few adjustments you can make. Sound is good but why would you not have a surround system. While watching the world cup I noticed a lot of ghosting but not while watching baseball or hockey. Not sure why. Considering the price this is a good buy.

Excellent High End All Around TV for Money

This TV is awesome. I spent all day yesterday going back and forth from other stores and other Best Buy locations with my wife. She wanted a high end brand name like Samsung, LG, etc.... We finally picked this one and I was scared of DYNEX, but this TV is awesome!!!! (did I say that already...one more time AWESOME!!!! After a few tweaks to the equalizer(this TV has a built in Digital Equalizer for Sound) I can't, repeat, CAN'T even get it to go pass volume 13 because it is so explosive and loud. After tweaking the picture settings and colors, and enabling the 120 Motion Blur Eliminator..EXCELLENT!!! It almost looks 3D without being 3D and it has an energy saving option..YES...GO GREEN. I watched Alice in Wonderland on Blu Ray and I felt like I watched it for the first time. I also caught the Pro Bowl and the picture was extraordinary. Even cable channels look excellent (need HD signal for optimal picture quality). That's how clear and beautiful it really looks. I cannot wait to go home and watch my 55" TV. I truly reccomend it. My 16 yr old son, who likes nothing and is very critical about compliments, couldn't close his mouth at teh picture quality, so I know right off the bat, that means something. Do not be scared of this TV. For the money, it is truly more than what you expect. I proved this to myself last night.

This TV is EXCELLENT! Some reviews on it talk down on the sound and picture quality, but they are wrong! Yes, I had to tweak both sound and picture to make it look and sound best, but like all new things they must be set. VERY EASY set up, AMAZING 1080p Display, AWESOME SOUND QUALITY! This TV is the best I've bought and I LOVE IT!! GET THIS TV!!!!!

The Picture is good, what should be expected from a 1080p T.V. The contrast ratio isn't the best, and the response time lags noticeable on some sources causing some excess artifacting and an after image type delay in picture. and not just on lower resolution sources, some of my HD DVD digital copies are like that too. Overall I'm pleased with it for the price i paid, and considering it is a manufacturer refurbished item. What Bugs me is no optic audio output, and no S-video inputs. Some other things that concern me, It sounds cheaply made when moved, the internal components can be heard moving. When i turn off the 120hz it seems to randomly switch on momentarily for about 2 to 10 seconds at a time. Its not a big deal, but still worth noting. My main concern is the picture starts to flicker every so often on my HDMI sources. The only way to stop it is to turn the tv off and unplug and plug back in the HDMI cable. I'll have to talk to GEEK SQUAD about that. Its a good starter TV in my opinion. I've had it a little over a month and I'm pleased with it. Its not the best TV but its better than some.

I think, this TV is GREAT! For the price you really can't ask for more. Size is great, THE SOUND IS AMAZING better than any other tv I've owned. The picture quality is 1080p and blurays look sharp and beautiful. Once again for the price this TV is def a great buy.

Luckily Best Buy has a 30 day return policy b/c this t.v is going back. I thought I'd take a chance as Dynex has some pretty good reviews for their smaller 60hz t.vs. Now I'm wishing I'd just spent the extra $400 and saved my self the trouble of hauling this 100lb monster back to the store. PROBLEMS : It looked almost perfect on my PS3 with HDMI playing games and blu-rays but after having this for only 2 weeks the picture seems to be developing some ghosting and serious motion blur which ironically only gets worse with the TrueMotion 120hz cranked all the way up. It looks great with a still or slow panning picture but when the pace quickens the picture goes to (well think beer goggles). Again this did not happen when I bought this 2 weeks ago. Another thing is that the flesh tone of people on Blu-Ray & HD cable has changed from being pretty darn good to now they are either pink or pale white and adjusting the setting doesn't help. I don't really inderstand how this happens in just a few weeks but I can't risk what may happen in 3 more weeks when I will be unable to return it. Also right out of the box I had to adjust the picture setting for each purpose I used it for. 1) for gaming 2) for blu rays and 3) for cable tv. Save yourself the headache and spend the extra 4 or 500 bucks on a quality set you'll be glad you did.

Excellent picture and sound for a TV this size and at this price. A neighbor has a 55" that he paid more than twice what I paid for this one - neither of us can tell the difference. I don't think you can do better for the price, since all the HD programming comes through the cable provider anyway.

I selected this tv for an older friend who enjoys sports but was still watching on a very old tv. I was nervous about going with Dynex since it is not one of the better recommended brands. However, the price fit the budget. I purchased this on a Black Friday special and was very pleased with the price. I was very pleasantly surprised at the quality of the picture and the sound. My friend is delighted. So am I.

after reading all the reviews I still decided to try this tv and glad I did. For 800 it does what it needs and after adjusting the settings for the picture and audio it seems good. No it not quality of a Sony 3D LED but if you adjust the settings and turn off the 120hz motion option, it works really good and is a good value! So if you want to save about 600-800 on a similar tv and understand that it needs to be adjusted out of the box then buy this TV. also by the way the box weights 100lbs and its majority of the weight is from the stand, this unit is very sturdy cause the stand is wide and very heavy due to the metal construction with a nice black plastic coating!!

This TV has a fantastic picture and we love it, The price was great and even though we did have to drive to Louisville (20 min) to pick it up because our local store didn't have it in stock it was well worth the drive!

Got this to replace my 51" Hitachi (which had replaced my previous Hitachi 55" old old non HD big screen). I had low expectations and this TV exceeded expectations in almost every way. Image is awesome crisp sharp deep rich vibrant colors. People who claim high knowledge and then go on to say the pic quality is washed out simply either no nothing about TV's and never bothered to play with the tweaking the settings or they got a different set than I did when I ordered this. Had it for a month now and everyone here LOVES this new set. My first impression was it looks exactly like my LG computer monitor same shiny black plastic frame and many other things are identical to LG packaging and so on (I suspect they may be providing this as a generic for Bestbuy? not wanting to start a rumor but that was my impression) Tons of HDMI connections, even has a computer 15 pin DVI plug and old style RCA composite RGB and (Yellow Video) plugs if you need those. I not only would buy this again I am waiting for that fantastic $599 sale price to come back so I can buy one for my parents who still have an old 37" HD for years now. Only downside I have found is it if left unused for a long time or is turned off goes into this double-OFF mode where you have to turn it OFF and then ON when it appears to already be OFF. I see a red light (the ON light) but have to press the ON-OFF and then press ON-OFF again to get it to power back up. More of a design flaw but nothing I am troubled by just worth mentioning. I like the remote - if you are watching TV and want to switch to the AIOS and stream a movie I just press HDMI and if I want to play XBOX I just press COMP for RGB composite and play some Kinect sports then press TV and its right back to watching cable TV. VERY satisfied with this purchase it would be probably worth $799 but WELL worth the $599 we paid.

I had problems with this product once I took it out of the box. I had a lot of ghosts and shadows and the the tv could not pick up the dark colors or blacks. so I read the reviews again and went to the web site and tried changing the settings and I bought a new hmli cable thinking maybe my other one was wrong. but I continued to have all the problems. If I watched a dvd or movie some of the movies were incredible best I have ever seen on a tv that I owned. but when I watched a sports game, Hockey, Baseball, Soccer. the quality changed drastically so I would have to go in and change the settings again. Then I tried playing video games and found the quality poor. But I will say BB was great on taking back the tv and delivering me my new LG 55" led lcd tv it cost more but I can honestly say it gets 5 stars across the board and it one of the best things I have ever bouht in my life .

Given the cost of the item this really is a great TV. I bought it to install in the garage (can you say Man Cave) but my wife liked it so much it is now in the living room. The sound is only so so, but connecting it to a home theater system will fix that problem. The remote is not that great, but with Directv or ATT u-verse their remote overcomes the tv remote shortfalls.

Purchased based on price and size (only 55" LCD I saw anywhere near $900). Works well with cable TV (component connection). Some dark images are grainy, but was able to resolve by reducing sharpness settings. Occasional blurring; have noticed more so with dark images. Only tried one movie and it looks very good (HDMI). Jury is still out, but overall I am pleased with the purchase.

Bought the TV on Black Friday. Quick delivery and setup. I read many reviews and was a little concerned...but couldn't be happier! I watch some movies but mostly use it for gaming...and have had no problems. I did play with some of the settings, but haven't had any problem with lagging. The sound is very good (not the quality of sound I would expect from a $3000 TV...but very good for the price), too loud past a setting of 9. Picture quality is fantastic! It's only a TV...no apps, no internet connection...just a great TV. I was worried about the low contrast...but I haven't noticed any issues. Blacks and whites are great. Truly, a great deal! It's only been a few weeks, but VERY satisfied thus far!
