I am 100% pleased with this TV...it's a bit on the heavier side, but who cares, it's AWESOME....I picked up during Black Friday for $599, but seriously even the $799 is a good price for this TV....I purchased another 47in Dynex also, and have been pleased.

I was 50/50 on whether I should buy this tv, but for $599.99, which was the Black Friday special, I couldn't pass this up. I had the tv delivered to my home and powered it up. I didn't have a temporary antenna, nor did I have cable installed yet, so I hooked up my PS3 which serves as my blu ray player, my xbox 360 and my receiver. I popped in Avatar to the PS3 and I must say I was pretty impressed with the colors, brightness and sharpness of the tv. Since I had hooked it up to my home theater receiver, I was not really sure what the actual tv sounded like. I did notice some blurring the first day, but after having tweaked the adaptive contrast and turning off the 120hz option, it seemed to have gone away. I consider myself a gamer and I did notice considerable lag while playing MW2, MW3 and Gears of War 3 the first day. Again, after having tweaked the tv to my liking, it seemed to have made it better. A lot of people are complaining that this is not a gaming tv, and I was worried about that, but I realized that rather than blame the tv, that you could make changes to the game itself by changing the sensitivtiy of the aiming reticule and how fast the controls respond. Most first person shooters, which is mostly what I play, have the option to change the sensitivity of the controller and of the aiming and movement. There does not seem to be any lag at this point. For what it's worth, this tv is a great buy and should not be overlooked. I am not sure how long it will last, so anyone worried about the durability should look into purchasing the extended warranty. After having had the tv for a week, it still works perfectly, though I do notice some heat coming from the tv which I suppose is normal for such a large tv. I also bought an antenna but after playing around with the remote, I have no way of going back to the inital setup screen for the antenna to start scanning for channels, I suppose I'll have call customer support or look online for an answer.

Been looking for a new TV to replace our 42 Vizio plasma in the living room for a while now. At first my wife and i were leaning toward a Westinghouse 46 LED. We have a Westinghouse 32 LCD and we love it. But my wife suggested that the 46in was too small. She noticed the Dynex 55in LCD and because of the size and price, $649,99. Not being familiar with the Dynex brand, we decided to hold off and do a little research. After reading the reviews, we decided to go ahead and purchase it. We went the spot where we saw them the night before and they were gone. After asking the Sales Associate, he notified us that there was one left in the back. After his return, he informed us that the box had been opened and one of the packing contents had been removed. Because of this, he guaranteed the TV and offered to take $50 off of the sales price. That made me feel a little better about my purchase and was willing to except an average quality for the cheap price we pain. After getting home, connecting it to our Dish receiver, and Blu Ray player, i can not be more please with our purchase. The picture is excellent, just as good as TV's twice its price. It is a basic TV with excellent picture quality and sound quality that is better than expected for the price. I would without a doubt recommend this TV to everyone. Awesome picture and great sound.

Picture is excellent. Sound is tinny. The Best Buy website listed it for two days at $599, but one of the days it wasn't available in my local store (San Luis Obispo). Then at midnight it changed and was available. When I went into the store there were 6 of them sitting by the door, with none on display. So, I took the leap of faith and was pleasantly surprised. Hook it up to a surround system and you are good to go.

This is my first time owning a flat screen TV and I must say that I am extremely pleased with this TV. I was expecting a reduction in quality since it is not a name brand but was I fooled! This TV delivers!! I am very skeptical and if I don't like it, trust me, I will let you know! This I like! The only minor problem I had is the HDMI connections were not marked correctly and had been switched around. Not a problem because the TV still works great! You cannot go wrong with this TV for the price. I have only had it for 2 months so for the short term I am very happy and this was money well spent! Great picture and great sound!!

I purchased this TV about a week ago and had it delivered, after reading the reviews I figured at this price I would take a chance, big mistake!! The bad reviews this TV is getting are well deserved! The largest issue seems to be the Motion Blur ! from what I can see the so called 120Hz Motion Blur does not work period!!! in fact with it on an any setting, it actually makes the Motion Blur Worse instead of Better, and yes I purchased High Grade HDMI Cables, which made no difference at all!! Next issue, I've been in the electronics industry for more than 20 yrs! and television repair to be exact, and I have never seen a TV that you could only adjust the TINT of the picture in One Mode ONLY!! until now, to make things worse ONLY In the TV/AV Mode!! now why in the world would you want to have a HDTV in that Mode at all!! defeats the whole purpose of having an HDTV in the first place!!! Next Issue, Auto Audio Leveling, well at least this does seem to keep the audio level at a constant, however when its turned on the level Drops Down quite a bit, and when the channel your on at the time changes from program to program it has a very loud an unacceptable POP!, so once again another problem!! Last but not least the Icing on the Cake, EVERY TIME you turn the TV on it goes through a long ACCESSING DATA Process!! Folks, the best advice I can give you is STAY AWAY FROM THIS Television!!! it is nothing short of a 100lb Boat Anchor!!!! Have since decided to spend a little more and get something that operates like it should.

Good TV, just not for sports or no n-HD

Bought the TV at the black friday sale and had no problems with it at first. We went from a tube TV to this one, and loved the difference at first. Blu-rays were incredible, and so was Xbox. Sound never bothered us, it wasn't perfect, nor was it bad. But after a few weeks, the lag time seemed to get worse and worse, especially watching sports, or even playing MW3. Watching normal tv, even HD channels, was getting worse. Ordered the NFLRedZone and it was so pixelated I couldn't read the bottom text bar. The lag time probably wouldn't bother people, but I'm one of those people who can't let something go once it's noticed.. so needless to say we returned this tv for a plasma. All in all, GREAT buy for the price. Who knows, maybe it was just our cable provider, but the poor picture quality (albeit it was not always like that) was something I could not live with.

Bought this TV for the Black Friday special. Absolutely love it. Sound quality is amazing, 1080p picture is crisp and clear. You can switch between 60hz and 120hz, as the 120hz makes it look almost 3d, where you can literally tell that every shot being taken is on a set. For movies, I usually switch it to 60hz, as I do not want to see the very fine details. For reality shows and pictures where you want it to look as real as possible, then I switch to 120hz. I have Samsung / Vizio / Toshiba LCD TV's in other rooms, and this one is better than all three hands down!

I was skeptical about this before I bought it, only cause of some of the reviews I read. I went ahead and purchased the TV and I don't regret it. The picture quality is great, and so is the sound. I expected the sound to be terrible after all the reviews I read, but it's actually not bad at all. I still intend to buy a sound bar to beef it up a little, but it is very operable without one.

This is a really good tv for watching DVD's or Blue ray but can be a little choppy when viewing sports or action of our Direct Tv receiver. Good image quality and really like the sound it produces. We have a sound bar attached because we were warned about flat screens having terrible sound but we dont ever have to turn it on. Sounds great.

For $780 out the door with the extended warranty (Black friday) I was happy! Get it home and set it up, picture looks pretty good on the Toy Story movie that was playing at the time... Fast forward to a real TV show... Picture is great if the camera is not moving or changing shots. Every time the camera changes scenes it gets "blocky" for a split second then gets normal. Same for anything with a white flash, turns to nothing but blocks! Watched a fashion show with the wife and it had a bunch of camera flashes, made the screen full of giant blocks with each flash... that was the main reason I returned the TV. I could handle the odd glow around people from a distance (football game), but the blocky effect spoiled it. We have a 3 year old 42" 60hz Dynex that we love. Put these side by side and couldnt believe how crummy the 55 was. I should add that my wife and I are not big into audio or video stuff, so for us to be disappointed with a TV is saying something! We watch 2 hours of TV on Wed night and typically 1 movie Friday night, thats it. And for whatever reason the sound was off. If you watched something with a close up, you could tell there lips and the sound were off a hair (Not a major issue though) I will say I thought the sound was pretty good, more then enough for our needs. We have a pretty big living room and it had no problem filling the room. I connected it to a mac mini and it worked great on that! For a monitor its perfect! I did not notice any mouse lag I read about before buying it ( I was going through HDMI though ) We had the TV screen roughly 11.5 feet from our eyes and the blocks were just too bad to make the great buy a keeper. I hooked up our WII to it and it looked pretty good, I don't think the WII is a high definition source, but it was okay. We don't have blue-ray so not sure if it would be better or not. We did watch Super 8 on DVD and it wasnt too bad, still noticed some blocky/blurry parts. But much better then the normal TV shows. Overall, if it wasnt for those blocky parts on any type of flash we would have kept it as the price was great! I spent hours adjusting settings with no major changes. I should add, we just have free over the air signal. I have a 13 foot antenna in the attic thats wired down through the walls.I'm not sure if that could have played a roll or not (although our 42" doesnt get blocky on same channels...) Best Buys return policy was great and stress free! Besides hauling that heavy box around, it was a breeze to return. I think i'm just going to stick with the major brands on the larger TVs...

Where do I begin? This is a great TV for thr price. I bought this TV and I was kindah skeptical because it was not you ordinary name brand TV. So, I decided to give Dynex a try. I mainly bought this TV for watching football and gaming. This TV is a great TV for gaming, I just finished playing Madden 2011 and the picture and sound were excellent. For a 55 inch TV for 800 and of good quality, I would select the Dynex.

I read some negative reviews about Dynex which kind of scared me. I've had no issues at all and I've gotten lots of compliments on the beautiful picture and clarity of the sound. My husband actually complains that he can see too much of the people's imperfections on the screen! I have directv so I connect to the internet thru that. I dont know if it can connect to the internet by itself. Great buy!!!

Enjoying this TV alot, but during sports you can see the picture doesn't quite catch up to the play. If the camera is reletively still the picture is great but during zoomed in plays you can tell. Great buy for $599. DVD's are amazing with the HDMI hookup and the wii is great to play on such a huge screen.

We have a 52" Sanyo TV in our living room (2 years old) and I wanted a similar size TV for our rec room. I tried to get one like it (same brand, but in 55") from our local Walmart, but they did not have it in stock, and it was not in stock in their warehouse either - I tried them for a few weeks, even tried other Walmarts. Got tired of waiting, so I checked out Best Buy and saw the 55" Dynex. The price was about the same as the one I had wanted, it looked good when compared to more expensive competition on display - sharp picture, vivid yet true color. I am not familiar with Dynex, but I decided to give it a try anyway (if I did not like it, I knew I could return it). I like the Dynex more than our other set. It automatically switches to the correct screen format. Setup is easy. Color is great. I can not comment on sound as I watch through my home entertainment system. (The sound is not even passed through to the TV.)
