I just bought a brand new computer and came with both a DVI and VGA adaptors and was hoping on having dual monitors for my computer. I got the DVI to fit nice and easily but when I put in the VGA using an adapter it seemed that it didn't fit.the bigger pin was to big for the slot.

The box should of stated that there was one in it for a different screen. It's no biggie.

After stopping at several stores to try to find a DVI cable to connect my monitor to my new MAC computer (MAC computer came with DVI adaptor and monitor cable VGA but also has connection for DVI if have cable), it seemed easier to just get a DVI-VGA adaptor to connect the monitor to the computer. Best BUy had such an adaptor. However, when I got it home and tried to connect the apple DVI connector to the DYNEX DVI-VGA adaptor, it was clear that the two were not compatible. The wide pin of the male DVI adaptor was wider than the slot for it on the apple connector (plus there are extra pins for which there are no holes around that slot). My monitor has the same format as the apple connector so something is not right here. As Best Buy is not right around the corner from my house, I am more than a little annoyed that I have to go back out of my way again to return this item....

It says "for connecting a DVI output to a VGA input, or vice versa", but if you have a DVI cord that you need to go into a VGA monitor, this connector by itself does you no good. DVI to VGA: I have DVI cord (because I have a DVI connection on the tower) and cord that must go to VGA monitor. VGA to DVI: I have a VGA cord (and connection on the tower) that needs to go to DVI monitor. Stand alone it cannot be used as a generic connector between DVi and VGA regardless of the tower and monitor connectors, as the label says. Should read "for use with VGA cord" in item description.

It happened that I needed the DVI-D to VGA instead so I returned this one which cost over $15 and bought the correct one on-line for under $2!! Even with shipping it was still under $5.

I was trying to hook up an old monitor to my new computer for dual monitors. It turns out the male dvi port on the adapter does not fit in my dvi port. It has extra pins that I have never seen used on a dvi monitor that do not have corresponding holes on my computers dvi port. I checked a coworkers older computer, it's port has a spot for the extra pins, but she doesn't need the extra monitor.

I tried connecting an older monitor to my laptop. The male dvi port on the adapter does not fit in my laptop port. This adapter has some extra pins that does not work with my set up.

I couldnt find a place tou plug this thing in on my computer so it dosent help at all.
