Customers express satisfaction with the Airstrait Straightener's hair styling and overall performance, as users find it to be the best flat iron ever made and appreciate that it causes less damage to hair. The ease of use and reduced drying time are also well-received features. However, some customers find the straightener to be too heavy and bulky, and a few have noted that it can be quite loud.

This is a big fail for my hair

Wanted to love it and streamline my hair styling process. It fails on both fronts. The device itself is big and not easy to hold, plus between the plug and the device is a huge heavy electrical box (not sure what to call it) that you have to find room for on your counter. They recommend that you close/lock the device and “rough dry” your roots, which really doesn’t work, at least not with my curly and frizz-prone hair. It doesn’t make sense to “rough dry” roots all over your head without using a brush, because I might as well be using a regular hair dryer. The next step is to put your hair between the 2 clamps and pull the device over your hair. The air comes out of the bottom of the clamps. It does work to dry the hair it passes over, but there are roots that are left wet or damp, which isn’t good with my hair. The device straightens but the way it works gives me no option to add a little wave or curl or design to my hair, so I have to go back over it with a curling iron. I thought it would keep my hair straight for longer, but it doesn’t. I find myself having to go over the hair again with the dry hair/cool function after being in humid conditions. I’m disappointed that I didn’t figure this out before I could return the device.

After owning only a few Dyson products, I was very excited to have been able to try out this Dyson Airstrait hair straightener. Out of the box I was very surprised on how bulky the cord was on the unit. Once plugging it in and seeing how powerful it was, I now understand the need for such a bulky power cord/power supply.
The hair straightener has a lock button which holds the straightener closed allowing it to be used as a blow dryer only if needed. It has a heat and cool air option as well as wet and dry option for straightening. It has the ability to go into 3 different heat modes to have essential a “low, medium, high” heat option. I have shoulder length hair cut in a bob style and the Dyson Airstrait I believe has become my new favorite hair tool.
My first test was with my hair wet. It took a few minutes to get the hang of using it and which direction it needed to be held so that it didn’t blow my air everywhere. One side of the straighter has air vents that air comes out when you close it rather fast. So if you are holding the Airstrait the wrong direction, the hair just blows everywhere. Lol. After figuring out how to hold it, this thing has been amazing. My hair was dried and straightened in one step vs having to blow dry first and then use a traditional straighter. With the way the air comes out of the straightener section, my hair was dry in record time. I love, love, love the fact that there aren’t hot plates on my hair anymore. My hair feels SO soft and silky after using it.
On day 2 hair, I was able to try it on dry hair. When I wake up each morning my short hair can have a few “flat, slept on” areas that I usually need to use a traditional flat iron on to smooth it back out. When using the Airstraight on it, I was able to have the same results but without the direct heated plates burning my hair. It was able to, with the help of my round brush, look like I just freshly washed, dried and straightened hair once again. I feel the results were still just as satisfactory dry as it was wet.
Overall, while carrying a very hefty price tag, I would say this unit is 100% worth it. Dyson definitely did a great job giving us the ability to toss our straighteners and blow dryers away by using this all in one Dyson Airstrait.

Game Changer for Drying Hair to a Straight Finish

Like Dyson’s other hair products, Airstrait delivers hairstyling results in a fraction of the time of conventional hair drying and styling tools. The Dyson Airstrait was designed to straighten hair while drying and does so without excessive heat that damages the hair shaft and causes hair breakage. It can be used on wet or dry hair, but instead of heating the hair with heat plates, this product allows for ultimate control over the amount of air flow and intensity of heat; and straightens hair as it dries with high velocity air instead of hot plates. The Airstrait is designed with intelligent heat control sensors which make it hard to damage the hair from extreme heat.
The Airstrait is designed with high pressure air jets that are projected evenly throughout the hair as it dries and straightened the hair shafts. The Dyson Hyperdymium motor allows for a quick dry that the user can almost completely control in intensity and speed. The whole concept of designing this product was to create a straight finish of the hair, delivered in a faster and healthier manner than similar products.
The LCD screen displays airflow and temperature settings, but to fully view the display of the Airstrait the release button that holds the two sides together must be released. The controls are then viewable and include an on/off switch, a mode button that switches from dry to wet, a control for the speed of the airflow, a cold button, and a temperature button. It has been designed with 3 heat settings for wet drying and they are 175-, 230-, and 285-degrees F. The heat settings for the dry mode are 250-, 285-, and Boost. One can control the speed of the fan through a button control and set it to either low or high. The speed of the fan can further be controlled by either clamping the two arms of the device together or releasing them. With each power startup, the Airstrait goes through a self-cleaning process and the LCD screen will also alert when any other maintenance may be needed.
While in use the Airstrait will automatically drop to Idle mode in between passes and will Auto Pause after 3 seconds of not being in use. It is a game changer for shoulder length to long hair. It takes the processes of drying, straightening, and styling and puts them all three into one process. The time it seems to save is tremendous. For short curlier hair it has controls that when closed will direct air to facilitate a quick air dry without touching the hair but dry the hair much like a diffuser does, but the Dyson Airstrait is really designed and marketed as a hair straightener tool. It seems to straighten wet hair in two to three passes, but this also depends on the heat settings, air flow, and texture of one’s hair. It is good to remember that less direct heat makes for healthier hair and since using this product still dries the hair in a fraction of the time needed by conventional products, I seem to have more time to take it a little slower when it comes to the healthiness of my hair.
The Dyson Airstrait comes with a 2-Year Warranty on Parts and Labor which exceeds most warranties on hair styling heat tools. It is a great product, fun to use, and has a heat resistant pad enclosed in the packaging. I definitely recommend it for medium length to long hair. It will give you a finished product of dry straight hair in a fraction of the time that you are probably use to it taking to create a similar finish.

WOW- BLEW my expectations

Ok so I have every dyson hair product and love em all except the Airwrap. Ive also tried the Revlon brush and they all left my hair frizzy and it would curl back up in a few hours. This sounded like the same concept so I had very low expectations. So much so that I bought through BestBuy for easy return. I have type 2C curly hair and its a frizzy mess. The airwrap took way too long and results wouldnt last so I thought this would be the same... boy was I wrong. It took me 25 mins to take my sopping wet hair to pin straight with no frizz. Its clunky and my hand cramped like crazy but the results were so worth it. The best part is how easy it is to do touch ups. Normally if my hair got humid and started curling again I wouldnt re straighten since i figured at that point I may as well just rewash and restyle instead of frying my hair again for one or two more days of wear. With the airstrait I can just pick it up and refresh my hair in 2 minutes without damage and without waiting for it to heat up and I can get a whole week of styled hair out of it. It is truly a miracle from the hair gods. A tip for those who complain about the roots, turn it upside down first and do your roots so the air hits the roots then turn it and do the rest of the hair. Im dissapointed because i wanted this to suck so I could return it since its so pricey but you can pry this thing from my cold dead hands and im out 500 bucks cause this thing BLOWS but in the best way. The photo is from DAY 3 with no touchups and my natural hair for comparison.

The Dyson Airstrait Hair Straightener
is my 3rd dyson hair product. It has lived up to its name in quality and innovation. I wanted this product especially for my daughters to use. They have wavy hair and it is pretty thick too. I was intrigued by the wet hair straightening option. I have always hated the blowdry first, straighten second method. This two-in-one was exactly what I was looking for.
First, I would recommend watching the quick how-to videos for pointers. They go over the basics on how to section the hair to get good results. I took before and after pictures of my two daughter's hair. They had zero product in their hair. I wanted to see what it could do before adding in products. On my first daughter, we used it in the evening (after she washed her hair and also had a fresh haircut that day). Her hair looked really shiny and soft afterwards, not to mention nice and straight. The pleasant surprise was the next morning her hair looked really good. I usually blow dry it and style it. Her haircut had face framing, and we usually blow dry it to roll the hair in towards the chin line. She commented that she wanted it to flip out and not point in. I told her we'd mess with it in the morning before school. Well, the next morning it was flipped out on its own and ready to go after a quick brushing. She was happy, and so was I because of the time saved. I didn't snap a picture of the morning after look, but it was spot on for her.
My second daughter has thicker hair than my oldest does. When I used it on her, her hair was damp. In some spots it was practically dry. Since her hair is so thick, endeavoring to do it while very wet would take a lot longer. I sectioned the hair like the video recommended. I love how soft it makes her hair feel and the added shine. It straightened it easily! We chose the medium heat setting. The blowdry only feature (squeeze the straightener shut) is for drying the scalp and roots. That was a much appreciated feature for her thick hair.
There is cool air option and a dry hair option to pick from as well. When I used it on my damp hair, it worked very well and made my hair feel thicker. I like to have some lift in my bangs, so I had to use the blowdryer in that spot. I should have just used the blowdry option by squeezing it together, old habits take a while to change. Overall, it is a luxurious additon to my hairstyling arsenel. Yes, it has a big price tag. But, it feels great when you have an expensive item that actually feels very well built and sturdy. The heat resistant pad is much appreciated so I don't bang up my countertops. With expensive items like this, I try to be extra critical. Probably the few flaws I could try to point out is the noise level. But being a blow dryer with lots of power, it comes with the territory. The first time you turn it on, it's a bit of a jolt because it flushes air throught to do a self clean. The other semi-flaw is when using it on the nondominat side. It needs to point down and thus be switched around. It will take a little master that skill. Overall, I'm very pleased.

This Dyson Airstrait is awesome! I wasn't sure what to expect, or how Dyson was gonna be able to make this work, but this ... what I'm calling a "two-in-one" hair straightener/air dryer ... does what it's designed to do, and does it exceptionally well.
I've been blessed with thick, wavy hair, and while not being 'curly', this type of hair makes it quite challenging to have cut or styled in the styles those with straighter (or thinner) hair can.
For a long time, there were those traditional curling irons. Then came the basic hair straighteners. Then there came the 'fancier' (and pricier) straighteners with interchangeable hot plates. All had their pros and cons. Now, this Dyson Airstrait ups the hair straightening "status quo" with the addition of a hair drying feature on the one device, so both can be done at the same time! Talk about a time, and effort, saver!
The illustrated Quick Start Guide provides easy-to-follow and understand instructions. Just allow yourself time to become familiar with the device, and practice to find what works best for your hair to get the results you want.
The button controls are simple. And I love the handy little LCD screen display. There are three heat temperature settings, and you are able to style your hair while either wet or dry.
It's actually been a lot of fun 'getting to know' my Dyson Airstrait. An added bonus is that when my grand-daughters visit, I'm able to do their hair too. They've also been blessed with thick wavy hair similar to mine.
It's really cool that they include a rubbery heat-resistant mat to rest the Dyson Airstrait upon after you're done using the device, while it cools down. This simple, yet handy mat, helps to protect your bathroom sink counter.
The only negative I can think of to highlight is the power cord. While on one hand I understand why from a technology aspect a 'heavy-duty' power cord is necessary, however, from an everyday user aspect, the thickness of the rubberized cord really is rather unwieldly. The weight of the cord is almost more than the device itself! So maneuvering the Dyson Airstrait around while using it, takes a bit of careful patience, and works those arm muscles.
Overall, I'm quite pleased and impressed by this Dyson Airstrait hair straightener/air dryer. Dyson has done it again! They've given us an updated version of a familiar, useful, everyday item. The advancement in technology is there. The build quality and performance is there. In my opinion, this Dyson Airstrait is well worth the cost for the savings and convenience of being two devices in one.

I absolutely love my Dyson Airstrait! It’s honestly one of the best beauty investments I’ve made. It dries and straightens my hair at the same time, leaving it super smooth, shiny, and frizz-free — without the heat damage I used to get from regular flat irons. It’s quick, easy to use, and perfect for busy mornings. The design feels luxurious and high-tech, just like every Dyson product. Totally worth every penny

Best Buy has a GREAT return policy. Unfortunately I can't use it on this. I have long unruly hair, meaning it requires some manipulation to resemble something of a hairstyle, air drying results in frizzy waviness. It's not curly, it's not straight, it's just meh. I have the airwrap, and that's great for curls, but the smoothing brush isn't enough meaning I still need to flat iron, which negates the whole idea of less heat on my hair. I really wanted to hate this, because $500, HELLO. But it is life altering. Literally. Took me about 15 mins from wet to dry, straight, soft, and shiny. Still in disbelief at how much it looks like a great blowout 3 days post shampoo. Is it a little heavy? Absolutely, I had to take a break midway through. The noise isn't bad, I popped airpods in and didn't notice it much. The results, though, are nothing short of a Hair God miracle.
Couple of cons, the manual warns that you can't use it in your sleep. Bummer. Also, it should not be used for anything but drying hair. A little mystified at that. But if you can look past the instructions and resist the urge to style in your sleep, you are good to go.
Takeaway - if you at all think this is for you, try it. Again, Best Buy has a great return policy. And the $500? You are definitely worth it!

This Dyson hair straightener is absolutely amazing. It heats up quickly, glides smoothly through the hair, and leaves it straight, shiny, and frizz-free without pulling or damage. I love how controlled and consistent the heat feels compared to other straighteners I’ve used.
My hair looks healthier after styling, and it lasts all day. The design is sleek, easy to handle, and feels very high-end. Yes, it’s an investment—but the performance and results are totally worth it.
Highly recommend for anyone who wants salon-quality results at home!

Excellent dryer/straightener. No hot plates, just hot air. Absolutely no damage to hair. Works on wet hair, but also good for touch-ups on dry hair. Easy to use and straightens hair in half the time compared to hot iron. Goes into sleep mode when set down on counter, to save on power bill. I love this straightener and couldn't live without it.

I am extremely impressed with the Dyson Airstrait! This is, without a doubt, the best hair styling tool I’ve ever owned. It straightens my hair perfectly while keeping it soft, smooth, and shiny. I love that it uses air instead of extreme heat, which makes my hair feel healthier and less damaged. It saves me so much time and gives me beautiful, salon-quality results every time. The design is sleek, easy to handle, and feels very high-end. This product is worth every penny, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to upgrade their hair routine.

I’ve been natural for 4+ years, and keeping my 3C hair healthy while wearing it straight has always been tricky. I’m a pro with my regular hair dryer (and it’s a pretty powerful one), but no matter what, it always felt a bit abrasive on my hair. The Dyson Airstrait is on a whole different level—it straightens my curls beautifully while being much gentler.
Yes, it takes a little practice to get the technique right, and it is a bit heavy compared to a flat iron. But once you get the hang of it, the results are amazing. My hair feels smoother, looks sleeker, and I can trust it’s doing less damage than my old routine.
This tool really is worth the investment if you want salon-quality results at home without compromising your hair’s health.

I’ve been using the Dyson Airstrait for about a year now, after swapping over from the Dyson hair dryer. I have very long, thick, wavy hair that was still taking a while to blow dry with the Dyson hair dryer. I have to say, the Dyson Airstrait has been the biggest upgrade to my hair routine. My hair is softer, straighter, and healthier than it has been with any other drying tool I’ve used. Despite dying my hair frequently, and straightening it twice a week with the airstrait, my stylist always remarks on how healthy my hair is. Do I still get some split ends? Yes, of course. But my hair isn’t as dry and brittle as it was when I was using traditional straighteners on my hair. The best part, it only takes about 10 minutes to go from wet to dry, straightened hair.
I love this thing. And it’s absolutely worth every penny.

I have a Dyson Corrale traditional straightener that I love, so I was very excited to try this new design of straightener by Dyson. The Dyson Airstrait is a high pressure air jet straightener that uses air pressure instead of metal or ceramic plates.
In the box is the Airstrait, mat, and paperwork. A unique feature is the LCD screen to view controls, and select setup preferences (language and C vs F temp display). Once through the two startup screens the straighten is ready to go.
As far as the build, this is another fantastic, well built, Dyson product. The handle is a comfortable size for gripping, the air jets are angled so they are blowing on the hair as you straighten, and there is a cover over the air intake that can be removed for cleaning. The overall noise level is less than most standard hair dryers and quickly heats up to desired temp. The features include a wet / dry selector, cool air, fan high / low, and a temperature selector (175F, 230F, and 285F). To use, turn on the straightener, it will go through a short (3 seconds) cleaning cycle, and set to desired preference. The straightener will turn on to a low fan setting. Once you pick up and press the straightener together over a section of hair, the fan speed increases automatically. If you lay the straightener down, it will automatically turn off as part of the idle mode. This can be disabled if not needed.
While I love this straightener, it's not for everyone. My hair curl type is between 2a - 2b, however my daughter is a 3b. This straightener works great for my waves and leaves my hair soft, using less styling products, without the obvious straightener flatness. However my daughter struggled to get her hair nearly as straight as a traditional straightener, and the initial results were very frizzy. She can get a sleek look, but has to use more smoothing products than she would with a tradition straightener. The Dyson has a ton of potential, and I highly recommend it, but has to work with your hair type and product preferences to be worth it!
