Not great for short hair

The Air Strait then began flashing a warning sign and a QR code asking me to contact Dyson. Dyson support is closed on Sunday and there are no help items telling me what the issue may be or any trouble shooting steps. I returned my $500 brick.

The Airstrait is a little heavy in the hand and may require a few breaks while using. The cord is pretty heavy duty with what I'm only guessing is a transformer close to the end of its 6' cord. Also the plug is ground fault protected with the test/reset button on it. Turning it on for the 1st time required me to choose from a host of languages as well as if I want F or C for the temperature. After doing that it instructed me to press the power button. That took it to the self cleaning mode which had air blowimg out from the air holes. There's also a slide button on the side to lock the paddles together for easy storage or travel. Now the reason for the 4 stats instead of 5 is that this model is made for long hair, short hair doesn't work as well. I also have curly natural hair and even with the choice o settimgs (low and high) I wasn't entirely impressed. The paddles on the inside don't get hot so there isn't damage to the hair which is awesome. This is a blow dryer that can also straighten hair. Nice idea!

We both have naturally curly hair to the root and both prefer to straighten our hair more than wear it natural. We’ve owned the Dyson Airwrap Complete for a couple of years, as well as many high end flat irons. While my daughter loved the Airwrap, it never gave me the smooth look I wanted, and my hair would get frizzy and big as soon as I left the house (thank you South FL humidity!). Then our (hair) lives changed forever when we saw the Airstrait on TikTok. After the initial hesitation to spend another small fortune on a hair tool, I bit the bullet - and we haven’t looked back. It’s fast, intuitive, easy to use, doesn’t heat up the bathroom, and turns my wet, curly hair straight and silky with 1 hair tool, in half the time. There are no heat plates and it uses heated air to both dry and straighten, so no concern about heat damage. After getting drizzled on recently, my hair even stayed (mostly) straight. I love it, my curly haired daughter loves it, and now my adult, wavy haired daughter loves ours and wants one for her birthday. There’s a reason Dyson can price their hair tools the way they do - because they are the BEST, and the quality is unbeatable. This one has 100% been a game changer in our house!

It is easily the most unique hair tool I have ever used or even seen, but now that I have been using it and seeing it's results I cannot recommend it enough! My hair routine prior to the Dyson airstrait was showering and washing my hair at night, blow drying it with a hairbrush. And then straightening my hair in the morning for about 10 minutes, not getting it perfect but at least getting any major kinks out of it. However now that I have been using the Dyson airstrait after my shower, my hair is way more straight when I go to bed, and I have a lot less straightening to do in the morning. I cannot believe how straight it comes out going from wet hair, it literally looks and feels like I just spent 45 minutes blow drying and then perfectly straightening it, but it only took about 10 minutes. The auto pause function is great as well, if I need both hands for a minute and set it down, it auto stops when no motion is detected, and as soon as it feels motion it starts again. I also love that if needed, I can pinch the two arms together and the air shooting out is basically like a normal hairdryer. It really is a multipurpose tool for your hair and it's so worth it. I cannot recommend this enough for anyone who has longer hair!

That's not the experience we've heard from customers with the Dyson Airstrait. If you were using the straightening from dry - try using the straightening from wet as intended. Also, check out the Dyson website for video guides on achieving results with different hair types.
