The vacuum work great and is lightweight and easy to maneuver. We have two cats and it’s been doing wonderful with picking up the pet hair. The carpets have never looked better. Although it’s a little expensive, it was worth the cost to us because of how it performs. Would highly recommend this vacuum to any pet owners!

I read a lot of reviews of Dyson vacuums before I decided to buy. I have no issue with the few complaints I saw about this model. Yes, the extension for the hose is housed differently than any other vacuum brand, but after the first day of use you'll quickly get the hang of it and with time become much quicker at dealing with it. And yes, it seems a bit wobbly, the machinery being housed in the ball rather than up in the body. But as far as this being a structural design fault, I've seen no reviews saying that it spontaneously fell apart as a result of this design as some people seem to fear will end up happening. I have no concern that it will. With the ball being so close to the ground, I find it to be no heavier to push than any self propelled vacuum I've owned, nor does it seem to be any louder. It's powerful enough that I use it to dust all the hard furniture (never had one that could do that without leaving something behind) while I'm vacuuming, which saves some time over vacuuming and then dusting.
I wanted the yellow version of this model over purple. But as the purple comes with a longer cord, larger canister, and the stair brush attachment, and considering that I'm the only person who will see it in action, I chose the purple in the end. No regrets and certainly nothing to lower my rating over!

This is our first Dyson, previously had a Shark Navigator which we passed on to our daughter. Nearly went with the new Shark Rotator on account of price but decided to try Dyson. Overall very pleased with the choice. Definitely has a LOT of suction! Cleans well up close to walls etc., maneuvers easily and gets under furniture better than I expected. Nice long cord and hose. Comes with all the attachments that we are likely to use regularly, (although less than the Shark), the turbine driven stair tool works great. Switching to the accessories is a little bit of a process since you first have to remove the extension wand from inside the extension hose before you can attach any accessory, but everything is nicely contained onboard with the exception of the turbine tool. Also like that it disassembles for easier cleaning and maintenance. Emptying the dust bin is super easy and has good capacity (the cordless stick models just wouldn't do for us).

Dyson doesn’t mess around. This thing is powerful and well built. Great for thick or thin carpets. Hardwood floors, whatever. It does it all. And it’s loaded with attachments to help conquer stairs more easily, reach corners, or even clean furniture. Easily to clean too! Happy to have it!

High performance and never really used another brand of vacuum! Never ever lacks on performance but Only gave 4 stars because I feel like it only gives us a little under 2 years of active life before we have to get a new one. Luckily we have total tech and basically get a brand new one every 2 years!

If you have pets, you need one of these. It's incredibly powerful, easy to clean, and the attachments are great. The only drawback is that you have to undo the cord keeper to use the hose attachment. It would be nice if the cord keeper was on a different part of the vacuum.

This is my first Dyson, my ideal sweeper is self-propelled and bagged, the Dyson is neither but my ideal is hard to find. I will say the Dyson probably has the best suction. I was shocked at how much it picked up, that my previously sweeper had obviously missed, the first two times I ran it. The Dyson is excellent for getting at pet hair. The upholstery attachment is also excellent for pet hair. The cord is very long, I can reach through my whole house, and it is a nice quality that doesn't seem to tangle at all. The negatives are the sweeper is heavy, and even with the ball sometimes difficult to maneuver, and doesn't fit well under furniture (like end tables). The attachments are cumbersome with the way the wand fits into the hose and then into the handle, I was very frustrated the first few times I tried to use them, but getting used to it now. I detest emptying a bagless sweeper, but that is the way the industry is going. This would not be my top rated vacuum as far as ease of use, but if you are strictly looking at suction it is probably better than others I've used (Hoover, Shark, Bissell)

I have purchased several expensive (a Kirby & a Shark) and inexpensive vacuums (what ever was on clearance under a $100) this vacuum by far exceeded my expectations so far so good! Great investment for people with inside fur babies sucks up dog hair like a champ! Easy to use, clean our, light weight to carry up and down stairs.

Nice vac. The original Animal Vac was WAY BETTER. Disappointed with this vac compared to the original. Vac has started spitting out tiny metal balls from the inside, great loss of suction, and overheating w/ auto shutoff (which I’m glad it shuts itself off) Got a new vacuum and not a Dyson.

This is a very powerful vacuum. It has so much suction that it is virtually impossible to vacuum area rugs of any size. Can be hard to push due to the amount of suction on certain carpets. However, with that said, it's a very good vacuum and dirt and pet hair doesn't have a chance with this unit. I have a golden retriever and this vacuum works as advertised. I don't like all the plastic, but this is my second Dyson and it should last as long as my first, somIm used to it. My first Dyson is 12 years old and still works just been retired to the workshop.

got this during a sale and this works great compared to the old bagless Hoover pet model. Strong suction, easy to operate, good amount of attachments and easy to go from carpet to hard floors. The only ding is there is no headlamp or retractable cord.

It's basic function, the actual vacuum, is incredible. Hence the 4 stars, but the design, mobility, clunkiness and awkwardness lose the last star. I bought this to replace a Shark, and the Shark was superior in every way except the actual amount of suction, and the filters. The Dyson filter system is super easy. But unlike it's competitor it does not: vacuum the front and sides up against a wall (You HAVE to use the hose), maneuver well around corners, the hose system is awkward, there's no light in the front, the plastic housing and stem feel like they're going to break, the weight distribution is odd. If it didn't pull so much out of the carpets in excess of any vacuum I've used before I would not continue to use it. But since it excels at its base function to such a degree I'll keep it until it dies or breaks. At that point it will be a tough choice tho!

My 3rd Dyson

This is my 3rd Dyson, I bought the Animal years ago and was very impressed with it, that I bought the battery powered one, which also is fantastic. This one does an even better job vacuuming, vacuumed the house with the old Dyson and followed it up with the new one and was surprised to see how much dirt and hair was picked up by the new one. The only issue is the upright lock, when you go to store the vacuum, it wasn't to fall over, it takes a bit of getting use to.

Huge step up from our $150 Shark Vacuum

While Shark customer service is fantastic and we liked our $150 Shark vacuum, we did not realize how much dust/dirt was being left behind until we bought this Dyson. The suction power is unbelievable. We did have an issue with oversuction at first on our carpeted areas, but we found a tip on Google that said to check the air filter in the ball part of the vacuum to make sure it is properly aligned with the arrow. After doing that the vacuum glided perfectly across the carpets. Slightly annoying for how expensive this product is but it was an easy fix. We have two dogs and have vacuumed almost every single day and are amazed how much hair, dirt, and debri ends up in the canister. And our carpets were just installed! Works great on hardwood also. If you have pets and/or carpets this vacuum is a no brainer.

I replaced my Dyson Animal that I had for 20 years with this one.
The suction is good. However, the canister clogs up easily. It's frustrating because the other one did not do this as much. The canister seems smaller too. I have asthma and having to empty it and unclog it several times while vacuuming defeats purpose. We have a small townhouse and one dog.
The other thing is the prong on the power cord that plugs into the outlet is bent. I had a hard time plugging it in. Is it supposed to be bent?
I really hope this vacuum lasts as long as my last one. This one seems fragile.
I do like that it's easy to push around and the cleaning accessories stay on. The last one they fell off all the time and it was annoying.
It was really difficult to get of the box. It took time to put it together. I would not recommend it to my Mom or anyone elderly.
I think I understand why it was $200.00 off which was a great price. I would not pay 500.00

Most important is the powerful suction. This vacuum is easy to operate and does excellent along baseboards.
