It's a Dyson but it's not the Dyson quality

I've had and loved a Dyson DC17 Absolute Animal for 10 years, it was nothing but amazing. Sadly, All that pet hair and dust finally did it in. So I replaced it with the Ball Animal, avoiding the bigger ball version that has received lots of bad reviews. First impressions. This is a cheap low quality built vacuum. Nothing like the solid DC17 from 10 years ago. Everything is flimsy and feels like its going to break off. When assembling it, a random red clip flew off and vanished and took me 15 minutes to find it. This clip appearantly holds the main roller assembly on. A tiny $.50 piece stands between you and a paperweight. The handle for the cannister is wobbly and flimsy as well as the main stick portion that goes does into the tube itself. The former being cheap and plasticy, the DC17 was metal and solid in this department. Vacuuming... As a standard vacuum, it works, but leaves trails behind it and you have to pass it over the same spot more then once overlapping to get full coverage. The suction is not nearly what the DC17 had, even after 10 years of dust clogging it. When you want to use the handle and stretch out to get areas, you will be disappointed. Besides being plastic feeling and flimsy, the suction is even lower here in comparison to the DC17's hose. Standing... Want it to stand up? Be prepared to force it forward until it stands. The rear wheels may drop but the handle and body will flop right backwards if you do not force it hard to stick. I've used it twice now and have fought to get it to stand every time I went between floor and hose use. It's a little quieter then the DC17. Probably because the motor is weaker and that leads to less suction. And dont believe the "Doesn't lose suction" nonsense, my DC17 and this one both easily loose suction. All you have to do is get something small stuck in the hose, or fill the bin just a tad too much. If your house is small and you have pets, you'll probably have to empty the bin for each room. I had to do so twice in my tiny house. I can't imagine doing a larger house with this. The DC17 from 10 years ago, I'd give that a 5 star rating and recommend it without question. The volume of dirt and pet hair it picked up was amazing. This model I cannot say the same. I give it 3 stars, mostly for how cheap and flimsy it is, and because its not nearly the powerful machine their older models were. There's a reason a DC17 Animal original still sells for $400. Because its a better option then this one. The Ball. I did not get the Cinetic ball, those had horrid reviews and the extra $100 seemed excessive for "dual cyclone technology" and a larger ball. The build quality on the Cinetic is also just as cheap and plasticy based on playing with it in the store. I found for the most part the unit was easy to maneuver around and it did its job. However it doesn't get as close to edges as the old one, and sometimes moving it around things is more difficult because you are having to deal with both the ball and the swiveling head. The Hose... Short and cheap. So cheap that mine has already after one evening started to pull apart and get saggy. It took the other unit years to do this. The hose is also short and stiff and needs to be worked and stretched unless you like pulling a vacuum behind you that then falls over. I won't know until I've used it a bit longer, but I am not impressed with this new model. And I wish I had just found another 10 year old model DC17 instead based on my initial use. The Head... It looks good, looks low profile, but there's a big box in the middle so pushing it forward and under anything, you hit the taller box part. You can angle it and slide it under edges of sofas or other furniture, but its awkward. I think if the build quality was better, this would be a pretty decent machine. But it's no DC17 Animal. Love Dyson products or own one and want to replace it? Look at them in a store carefully before purchasing. And make sure you can return it if it is not up to your standards. Usable but this is NOT your high quality Dyson from the golden Dyson age. It's more like a Hoover or Eureka vacuum but 3x as much. Pros: It's a Dyson It works more or less It relieves your bank account of some of that excess weight called money It does vacuum for the most part. Comes with quite a few accessory heads. Cons: Cheap and flimsy Handle hose assembly is cheap and requires extra work to use and even more to put away Doesn't stand up without force. Using hose and handle is awkward and clumsy. Expensive for a cheap flimsy vacuum Accessory heads fall off easily. If you get something sucked into it that cant make the turn at the base of the hose, you have to take it apart to remove it. Question this purchase, do your research. This is coming from a 10 year owner of another Dyson product. Don't assume because its Dyson its good.

We have 2 shedding dogs and 3 long haired cats. The one dog is a German Shepherd and has 4 inch hair continuously flying all around him. We have used a Kenmore Progressive for 12 years and it began to wear out. My wife could not vacuum the carpet or rugs with it as it was too heavy and hard to use. The other issues were that it fell over because it was not designed well for using the solid floor tool and it was so heavy that we purchased a small vacuum for the stairs. After some time, I started doing the vacuuming because the Kenmore hurt my wife's back and wore out her arm. The Kenmore was very powerful and did an excellent job vacuuming our house. It was far, far superior to the Hoover we had before. We decided on the Dyson Animal after a demo at the local Best Buy. It was light, powerful, and had the really cool extension for stairs. I have used it now for several weeks and can make an honest assessment. It is more powerful than the Kenmore. It is easier to use and more versatile. I can vacuum faster and with less effort for the most part. I do like the longer power cord and the longer extension for the stairs. It is easy to empty but do note that the trash can should be mostly empty when you do or you will get stuff in the room. We have about 2000 square feet of space that I vacuum. It is a little more than half hardwood with 6 smaller thinner rugs and one large thick rug. The bedrooms and stairs are carpeting. The Dyson does a great job on the hard wood and the carpet. Note that we have modern lower pile carpet and it handles it well. The ball rolls and allows for sharp turns and good angles and it is very clean. The extension tools are great on the furniture and in the small, harder to reach areas. It is easy to transition to extension from major floor vacuuming but the hose is a bit stiff and hard to manage. I assume this is because it is still new. The large thick rug is hard to vacuum. The Dyson pulls so hard that it bogs into the rug so I must make quick work of it and not stop to prevent the floor brushes from shutting off. The smaller thinner rugs are about 3/8 inch thick. The Dyson sucks them up and shuts off the brushes if we do not have someone hold the corners. If I shut the floor brushes off, then we do not get the animal hair off. So it is either a 2 person job or an awkward 1 person straddle and push. I should get a video of that process as it is quite funny to see. When the brushes shut down, we must pull the rug out and reset the brush by pressing the brush on switch twice. Not a big issue but worth mentioning. After using the Kenmore metal beast, the Dyson does seem much lighter but also not as sturdy. This could be a perception but I will only know after several years. I would recommend this vacuum to others. It is impressive but not as amazing as I had expected it to be. Vacuuming with it is not heavenly but it is efficient and a hard working vacuum.

Effortless Clean with Lots of Features!

I own one of the Dyson Digital Slim models, which I've used for a year and love it. I have a small home, and it's hard to get through all the furniture and toys we have in our living areas. I was worried that the full-sized Animal would just be too big to use effectively. I was wrong! Not only does the "ball" design make it easy to glide in and out of the small spaces that need vacuumed regularly in our home, the vacuum itself doesn't take up much more space than the slim model, both in use and in storage. The suction power is unbelievable, and the large canister size means I can do the whole house (dust from our farm and pet hair and all) without having to dump it until finished. While I prefer cordless models as a rule, this vacuum has a very long cord that can reach across my small home without having to unplug and find a new outlet. Wrapping it up isn't much of a chore, as the cord holder actually accommodates such a long cord (unlike other vacuums.) This vacuum is rather loud, especially with the brush motor engaged. Because it takes just one pass to get the job done, however, I really don't mind. This model came with lots of accessories, some of which I'm not sure how I will use. Assembling it was kind of tricky, as it only comes with picture instructions, and I'm not very good at visualizing things. One other feature that could be good -- or bad -- is that there is no step button to push to lay the vacuum down to use (as opposed to leaving it upright to use the attachments). You simply pull back and use the vacuum's own weight to engage it into the recline position. Might be more difficult for an older person to do. Also, you have to pick it up to move it, instead of just pulling back and rolling it on the back two wheels like other more traditional models. This may be tricky for someone who can't carry things, even with the vacuum being rather light. I think this easily trumps the other vacuums we've used over the years. I already know that Dyson has an excellent customer service team, great warranty, and will help you out with any of your questions (learned from other vacuums I own from them), so this is a good value when you consider craftsmanship and support. I'd pay more to get a great company that stands behind their products. I did receive the Dyson - Ball Animal Bagless Upright Vacuum in exchange for my review. All opinions though are my own.

My Dyson satisfaction is rapidly declining

This is my 3rd Dyson. I loved, loved, loved the first Dyson. Figured I would never get a different brand. 4 years ago I was moving and my machine had just started not turning off. I had to unplug, in order to turn off. I thought new house, new vacumn, it had given me 7+ years of service. I bought a Dyson, without roller ball, for my new home. It was harder to use and I decided I would go back to the roller ball when this one stopped working correctly. It performed ok, but I did think it was harder to handle. At 3 and a half years the hose broke. The way you need to hold the hose, bent, when using attachments caused the hose to crack open. I duct taped it so I could continue to use. I decided to get a new ball vacumn. I purchased this one and am totally disappointed. It is nothing like the first one I had. The canister that collects the dirt and animal hair, is impossible to empty without sticking my hand up into the hair to pull it out. Disgusting. When I use the tool to vacumn the tile floor in the kitchen, it is not designed properly. It goes in every direction except the one you want it to go. I can tell the hose will be splitting gut like the last one, as the awkward way you need to hold it to vacumn. The actual suction is great and the floor gets clean. It is just to difficult to use. For the price of a dyson, you expect quality. Not the case anymore.

Hi Susan, this is Krystal with Dyson. Thank you for taking the time to leave a review on the Dyson Ball Animal Upright. I am pleased to hear that you are satisfied with how well the suction is. The Dyson Ball series is one of our top performing uprights.

I am sorry to hear of the difficulty with maneuvering the machine. The vacuum's key components have been engineered to fit inside the ball itself. This gives the machine a streamlined profile, allowing access to tight spaces and lowering its center of gravity to make it lighter in the hand.

As for the canister, it is recommended to empty the canister before the debris goes over the MAX line indicated on the canister. If not, it can cause a build up of debris along the top. In the event this occurs, the canister can be separated from the cyclone for easier cleaning.

We would value the opportunity to address any questions or concerns you have and want to ensure your machine is running as intended. Please contact us at askdysonUS@dyson.com, include your name and contact information, and we will be glad to assist. We look forward to hearing from you.

      Best Wishes,

This vacuum is great for hard surfaces such as wood, tile, and concrete from a suction power point of view, very strong suction. On plush or dense carpets it is very difficult to push and pull the vacuum across without a lot of effort. In fact my wife can barely move it across our Persian rugs and dense carpets. Area rugs and runners are another challenge due to the suction of the unit as it will pull in lighter ones or at least move them around the floor. Now the mechnics of the unit that need to be mentioned. When you are done with the unit you need to push the handle to the vertical position so it will lock in place. there is one loud click that you would think is the lock position but it is not, there has to be a second click that is much harder to hear that ensures the handle won't fall to the floor after you let go of it. The combination crevice and brush tool is a neat idea but it adds a level of frustration when trying to use the crevice tool for deeper narrow spots as the brush gets in the way then. I like the roller ball system and it seems to do well on most surfaces when you discount the suction issue on carpet. By the way, when you call in for service they are quick to address the suction issue by having you remove the gasket in the roller head, which helps slightly but not enough to ignore the issue at all. One other thing I feel I must mention about the service department is if you look at the reviews you see a lot of canned responses from the Dyson team that don't really apply to the problem listed. Overall I believe they have made some changes that increase performance metrics, such as suction power, but have not really improved the customer user experience with many of these changes. I cannot totally endorse the product due to these issues. I had the Dyson DC14 Animal and actually prefer how it operates to this new one, it is just showing its age now and we needed something with performance like the older unit had when it was new.

Hi, this is Aimee with Dyson. I am happy to hear that you are pleased with the Ball technology of your Dyson Ball Animal upright. In addition, it seems that you are very pleased with the performance of your vacuum on hard floor surfaces. The Ball Animal upright has twice the suction of any other vacuum. It uses Radial Root Cyclone technology and a reconfigured Brushbar to capture more dirt, dust, and allergens from your home.

I am providing a video link below, for your review, to make sure the machine is locking into place correctly. Although it is possible to hear two clicks, one for the wheels locking into place, and another for the vacuum locking into the upright position.

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BrqkWXCFo0Y

In regards to the Combination tool, the brush of the tool should move back to allow for you to use the crevice tool, without the brush getting in the way. You should feel a click, when the brush has been locked into place securely away from the hard crevice tool.

Although you reached out to us previously, we would like to hear about your experience and make sure your Ball Animal upright is functioning as intended. When purchased new and from an authorized Dyson retailer, the Ball Animal upright will have a 5 year Dyson warranty. Please contact us by emailing AskDysonUS@Dyson.com, as we are eager to hear from you.

      Best Wishes,

We have dogs and cats, so I was excited to finally get this Dyson. I already had a Shark and didn’t love how cumbersome it was to use. First of all, the Dyson does have great suction although I can’t say it’s significantly better than a Shark. What I do like is the edge-to-edge suction of the Dyson, which the Shark definitely doesn’t have. Unfortunately, that’s all the positive things I can say about the Dyson Animal. And I wish I hadn’t sold the Shark. Within the first year, we started having problems with it shutting off randomly. Thank goodness for the warranty, which has since expired. We had to have it serviced twice within a year. Once it completely died on New Years Eve when there was carpet deodorizer all over the floor. I had to run out and buy a Dirt Devil in order to finish vacuuming. I still use the Dirt Devil as much as the Dyson because the Dyson is so unreliable. Sometimes the brushbar will stop working but the suction is still on. Sometimes it just won’t turn on at all. I never would’ve imagined that I’d have to keep a cheap backup vacuum around because I cannot count on my Dyson working.

Hi there, this is Carissa with Dyson. We are sorry to hear of your experience with our Dyson Ball Animal and we value your continued support. Every Dyson has something called a thermal cut off, if the air flow cannot get through the unit, the unit shuts itself off as a design feature, so that it does not over heat and damage your motor. Your brush bar will still come on as there is a separate motor for your brush. Usually comes back on within 2 hours and if we just remove the blockage the unit performs as intended. We would like to learn more of your experience and hope you consider contacting us at askdysonus@dyson.com. Best wishes, Carissa Dyson Customer Support. Dyson-EN_US

With four young children and a black lab/golden retriever mix pup, we know messes at our house. If I don't vacuum every couple of days, tiny hair balls start following us around the house. Walking on crumbs is going to happen regardless. I wasn't sure what to except when I opened the box of the Dyson Ball Animal Bagless Upright Vacuum, but I was kind of hoping for a miracle. Not that it would vacuum on it's own, although that would be amazing, but that it would actually pick up the dirt and dog hair easily. Impressed with how easy it was to assemble out of the box, I plugged it in and held my breath as I went for the stairs. I did have to figure out exactly which tool to use, but the suction was strong and it's so light I was easily able to carrying it up the stairs as I went. Even my children have been excited to help clean up! It easily goes between carpets and hardwood floors. If you're in the market for a vacuum and have carpet, hardwoods, hairy pets, children, or just want an awesome vacuum, the Dyson - Ball Animal Bagless Upright Vacuum is for you. I did receive the Dyson - Ball Animal Bagless Upright Vacuum in exchange for my review. All opinions though are my own.

If you have a good amount of carpet in your home, and especially if you have pets, this Dyson Ball Animal is indispensable. My husband and I have dust allergies so this vacuum helps us breath easy. The amount of dirt it catches, even if we don’t wear shoes in the house AND vacuum regularly, is crazy! You do have to assemble the Dyson Ball Animal but it literally takes only two minutes (I actually timed it). Previous to this, we had an older canister version. We loved it but this updated upright has much stronger suction and is easier to store in a small space. The accessories are so handy and the pet brush does wonders on our dog’s bed. The Dyson Ball Animal glides smoothly across carpet and it’s easy to maneuver around furniture. There is a feature to turn off the rotating brush for vacuuming on hard floors such as wood and laminate. The only thing that would make this vacuum more perfect is a retractable cord (the main feature I miss from my canister one)! Disclosure: I received a product for review. All opinions are my own.

My not so little family of 5 children, 2 dogs, 2 cats, and country living including chickens is hard on vacuums. We kill about one a year honestly and it is just something we have come to expect. We have long heard amazing things about Dyson but worried it would just be another vacuum for us to kill. I am now convinced though all the love people talk about for these machines is merited because having this one just a few weeks has been amazing. It is so strong and so easy to clean. Unlike other machines hair isn't able to stop a belt and burn out a motor. I don't even need a screw driver to fully clean this machine like I have others. I am very impressed. Even on very old rugs it does a great job and makes them look good, and goodness the things it pulls up. I love that it doesn't kick mold and pollen into the air when cleaning, I know inside air pollution is a bigger issue than most people know and this machine clearly understands that. We have rugs in the house that are very old and short and some that are longer than normal, it does great on them all. The turning because of the ball is impressive. Over all I swear this cleans faster. I highly recommend this machine to anyone with children and pets, really anyone that wants to clean better and more quickly. It is just so easy to use and the red parts make it so easy to understand how to use it. *I was given this product to review in order to share my honest opinion.

Let me start with, I work for a factory hard labor and do logging on the side most weekends, I'm not one to write a review on a vacuum. We had a dyson yellow vacuum for a couple years and still have it, I hated that thing from day one. Let my wife know it to since she bought it. We have four dogs a cat and one son. We live in a four bedroom two bathroom home with two living rooms (ones a man cave). The old vacuum would not pick up pet hair worth a dang no matter what we did, I hated it. Seen the dyson animal on sale for black friday, read the Reviews and reluctantly pulled the trigger. Let me tell you this thing is an animal. It picks up hair like nothing, easy to push around on every surface. It was amazing to see what are yellow dyson was missing. In amazing I mean gross. As for other reviews saying it pulls the rugs around, the heavy good rugs are not a problem, the cheap light rugs it will. Easy to solve that problem, just turn of the beater. Still picks up hair just fine without pulling them with it, that's how strong the suction is! I have been using this every day for over two weeks now just to make sure it is worth the money and you can say I'm impressed, Great product! Wife says it's lighter than the older yellow dyson to. Now I want the animal cordless for the stairs and entry. Maybe someday....

When using the hand held attachments the hose is awkward to keep straight when used in close proximity to vacuum unit. That is the reason I have given 4 rather than 5 stars. Dyson should supply a storage container for additional parts. This particular unit came with 5 attachments. After vacuuming, if you leave residue from vacuuming in holding tank until next use, I have yet to smell a normal "vacuum stench" from dirt, dander, and animal fur. I purchased as Deal of the Day, however, I would not purchase at full price. Suction is great straight from the box. After using make sure to clean filter and holding tank prior to it becoming full. Suction has not been the same since first use. Still has good suction but not great.

    Amazing Power & Flexibility

I received this vacuum at no cost for review purposes, these opinions of this product are my own. My husband is the one who generally gets excited about vacuums, this is the first time that we've both used any Dyson model at all, but I'm glad we did. When thinking about what you want to accomplish with a vacuum, it's really simple. You want it to WORK for you. You want spotless floors. The Dyson Ball has that. The suction power is extremely noticeable. After using it on our rugs, it not only sucked every bit of visible dirt and cat hair up, but it left them noticeably refreshed. The suction power gave our rugs an overall better look which I wasn't expecting. The next feature that I loved was how flexible it is. The base itself swivels and essentially contorts to fit where you need it and takes corners like a serious pro. I'd say it's the most flexible full sized vacuum that I've ever used. Other notables about this model are the tool attachments. To date I've used variations of them to vacuum my living room furniture, bedroom mattress and even high ledges and corners of our ceilings that we otherwise wouldn't be able to reach without a ladder. Lastly, the cord length and the length of the wand are really long making it really convenient to get the job done without having to relocate the vacuum much.

    An Amazing Vacuum

I am still in awe of how amazing this vacuum is. This vacuum cleans up everything our family leaves behind from dirt to hair. When I first did a quick pass in what I thought was a clean living room and kitchen, I was shocked to see how much microscopic dirt it picked up. The new attachments are wonderful for our stairs and cleaning our ceiling fans. I no longer have to break my back lugging a vacuum cleaning up and down the stairs as the nozzle will stretch the entire length of our carpeted stairs. The new Animal is a bit larger than our old Standard Dyson which makes it harder to bring up and down stairs, that would be my only negative that I would say about it. Luckily we own two Dyson Vacuums and that won't be a problem for us any longer. Having had a Dyson in the past I know that the durability of this brand can not be beat and that it is worth every cent. While I was sent a Dyson in exchange for my review, all opinions are 100% mine.

We are large family that’s made up of 5 children, 2 dogs, a rabbit, and 17 chickens (all who firmly believe they belong in the house rather than out!), finding a vacuum to withstand us has always been challenging. Most vacuums can withstand us for about a month and then they slowly start to go downhill mainly with suction. This vacuum however has withstood all the feathers, glitter, fur, play-doh, hair, beads, and chicken crumbles like a boss. This vacuum does not care one way or the other on your type of floors. It can easily switch between carpet and hard floors which is another plus in my book as we have carpet, stone tile, and wood flooring. It doesn’t leave scratches behind either. The cord is about 35 feet long so you no longer have to keep moving the cord around the room! The wand is amazing and the easy to store right in the handle vs other brands that just loop over the handle. No more having to have a stretched out floppy hose getting in the way in the middle of vacuuming. The Dyson Ball Animal glides great and is easy for kids to maneuver so they can help out! Disclosure: While I received a Dyson Ball Animal in exchange for a review all opinions are 100% my own.

It does have far better suction than any of the vacuums I have owned in the past. But it doesn't come with very good attachments. The crevice tool doesn't reach into the couch cushions. It's frustrating that the brush can't be detached from the crevice tool because it makes it that much harder to use. The hose doesn't extend very well when suction is on which is obviously when it needs to be maneuverable. And often times I find myself having to go over the same area multiple times to pick up 1 thing which isn't very comforting. What else is it missing that I don't see? The big ball prevents you from getting under any furniture. But on the bright side it is very easy to maneuver the vacuum it's self. It is somewhat self propelled. It does pick up far more than my last vacuum which was a hoover wind tunnel. It works pretty well on hard floors as long as the brush is turned off. But it isn't as great as I would expect for the $. I probably won't waste the money on another one when this one reaches the end of its life.

We had an older Dyson which we loved but finally broke after 10 years. After much research, we chose this one over some of the other brands which we're rated similarly. The biggest factor was durability in conjunction with the suction ability and the canister. The bad first, I hate the way the vacuum locks/unlocks from an upright position. When your done sweeping, you actually have to push it up twice to lock it; otherwise, it falls over. Also, the mechanism with the hose is weird. You have to push a button to release it but it's real testy to slide back in and can't be done one handed as with the older models. The good: reliable, STRONG suction, love the HEPA filter and canister. This one is also very light and maneuverable. I have no issues carrying it upstairs, unlike the previous model. Overall, we love it and wouldn't consider another brand!

The Dyson-ball upright has more suction with this vacuum cleaner than my original Dyson ball animal upright. The power cord seems more industrial as well. It appears to adjust easily from the carpet to the hardwood floors. The only item that appears flimsy or cheap compared to my first Dyson is the tube that runs along the vacuum. Time will tell if it holds up as long as my first one did. The attachments also don't stay in place along the cheap appearing tubing. The only one that stays in place is the attachment with the soft black feathered edge. Fortunately, that's the one attachment I use the most. The vacuum cleaner has sucked up the dog hair nicely and that is important to me.

I know spending $400 on a vacuum may seem like a bit much, but if you live in a decent size place, you need to buy a good vacuum. The $100-150 vacuum range just doesn't have a strong-enough suction after a couple months of use...Even the initial suction isn't enough to properly clean rugs or corners. We purchased this on sale for our apartment, and the floors feel so much cleaner. It picks up huge pockets of dust every week we vacuum, and we don't even know where the dust comes from. The toolset that comes with the packaging is also a huge plus. We use the long tube for corners/wall-edges and hard-to-reach areas under the bed, for example. One downside to this vacuum is that it's pretty heavy to maneuver. I wouldn't recommend it for the elderly, as it might be too much for them to comfortably use. Hardwood/carpet/rug/corners/pet hair/etc... You won't be disappointed with this one.

I thought this was going to be the last vacuum I ever had to buy. Sadly, after 8 months, the beater bar stopped working, so now it can only be used on hard surfaces. With a $400 price tag and the Dyson name, I expected more. Also, the hose attachment is a nightmare to use. The hose is so stiff and wants so badly to recoil that there is no flexibility. The wand (which fits in the hose when in the upright position) is long enough that, when coupled with the stiffness and inflexibility of the hose, you have to stand at least 3 feet away from whatever it is you are trying to vacuum in order to have a shot at getting it to suck up. It's really a shame, as I said, I thought this was going to be some next-level vacuuming.

This is the worst vacuum I've ever owned. I owned a Dyson prior to this one for 10 years and loved it. I thought Dyson's quality was the best until I bought this vacuum. After vacuuming each room I have to disassemble the roller and pull pet hair and carpet fibers off the brush bar. It trashes my fingernails. The fibers and hair have wrapped themselves around the brush bar so badly that it's melted the plastic on the brush bar. This is a serious problem. Buyer Beware. If I could get my money back from Dyson I'd do it in a heartbeat. This vacuum was sent to production without much testing or worse they knew the issue and still sent it to mass production. See attached Picture.

      Hi there,

Thanks for your review. This is disappointing to hear that you are having issues with the brushbar collecting hair on your Dyson Ball Animal. Ensuring the brushbar is clear of hair and debris is standard maintenance of the machine and thanks to the easily removable brushbar, cleaning is quite simple. We would advise using scissors or a similar tool to clear this hair as opposed to using your hands entirely.

You may also be interested to know that the Dyson Ball Animal comes out of the box with a Tangle Free Turbine Tool which is designed specifically for pickup of hair and string. It features two interlocking brushes that do not allow hair to get tangled up in the brushes before being pulled into the wand. For areas of heavier hair concentration, this tool is a great solution.

We'd like to hear more about your experience and ensure your machine is performing as it should. Please feel free to e-mail your contact information to AskDysonUS@Dyson.com and we're happy to help out.

      Best wishes,
      Dan Dyson-EN_US
