    Doesn't work on some rugs and carpet

    I've had this for 8 months now, and we had only used it on laminate flooring before moving. Now we also have rugs. The vacuum had stuck itself to the laminate once at our previous house from the suction, but now it cannot roll over rugs at all without getting stuck. I took it to the service center when a Dyson customer service rep told me it was "unfortunate" my "multi-floor" vacuum only worked on the tile and wood in my house, but that Dyson would not do anything to replace it. The technician removed a gasket and said it would help. Now I'm able to push it about 10 inches onto a rug before it sticks itself to it and starts pulling the rug up. I only bought this unit because it was supposed to be compatible with all types of flooring, so I'm very disappointed in its performance. I thought Dyson's customer service would be surprised at this since it's a multi-floor unit, but the rep I spoke with didn't seem confused or surprised by this issue at all and just told me she was super sorry I'd have to buy a different vacuum within a year of purchasing a "top of the line" Dyson.

    Vacuum has incredible suction and is well built. HOWEVER, the suction is so much that it is hard to maneuver on carpet. We had the Dyson Ball Animal 2 and you could barely push it on carpet. Returned it and got this one. Not much better. Called Dyson and they were NO HELP. At least Best Buy let me exchange it. However, they won't give me a refund re: policy. If you plan to vacuum carpet - find something else.

    Great suction, but cheaply made

    If I could go back in time, I would not buy this vacuum. It's powerful and works great EXCEPT that the piece that attaches at the base that actually does the work keeps falling off. The clip-on locking system does not lock well enough. The slightest side-swipe against the wall or furniture knocks it off.

    Good vacumm, bad quality

    After 4 months we already had to replace the roller head, spent 2 months at the repair center. Now the motor makes such a loud sound we'll have t send it back t the shop. Never Dyson again,.

    Thee = Suction is good the canister is not very big have to empty before finishing. the cord is fustraetng get all over the place should have been a place to the cord up near the top so having the cord trying to keep it out the way while in use just a little clip

    vacuum suction & hose

    not very happy with the vacuum suction wont even pick up a string and definitely hard to push on my carpet. The long hose is great but very hard to pull out.

The self-adjusting cleanerhead also raises and lowers to seal in suction across all floors. The experience you've had with a lack of pick up sounds rather unusual. 

      In regards to the hose, I can confirm that we would essentially expect the hose to become more flexible with time and use. A few tips we can provide would be attaching your accessories directly to your hose, as this will also help expedite stretching the elasticity of the hose. Dyson vacuums are engineered with versatility in mind and attachments may be used on either the wand or directly on the machine itself for added convenience. Also, when stretching the hose out we would recommend starting by stretching the part of the hose that is nearest to the vacuum first when extending this part to clean your home.

    Got clogged, cleared the dust tank and then the suction didn't work. Going to try to bring it back and replace it with another one....give me another Shark....

That being said, frequent obstructions in your machine may occur as a result of poor airflow, which can happen due to an existing obstruction or dirty filters. I am happy to let you know that most blockages are simple to remove and we find that most problems may be resolved through simple, yet effective troubleshooting at home.

      The issue with your vacuum having no suction after clearing the bin sounds very unusual.     Need to push the base handle up hard to stay up or it falls on the ground. When using the wand, the vacuum tips over very easily. Not at all like our old Dysons. Very disappointed and returned it.

    We purchased this vacuum on sale with price match, but the suction was not as good as our Shark, and the unit was much heavier. B.B. accepted it back which was appreciated.
