I have tried them all and this is by far the best vacuum I have owned. I started using Dyson starting with their cordless model, but the battery life was mainly for short uses. This is my first corded model. It is well known that Dyson is the standard for vacuums. This model is smaller than the previous MultiFloor vacuum and packs greater suction I believe. Let's get into the real reason why you are reading this review. -= Design and Easy of Use =- 4/5 This vac by Dyson is lightweight and super easy maneuver due to it's ball design. The cleaning head automatically adjusts to the surface it is cleaning... this is COOL! The assembly of the machine (you must assemble the handle & vac head areas) is simple and easy, I didn't need to even look at the diagrams to put it together. It is easy to put together, if I remember correctly it was like 3-4 clicks that's it. My only gripe is the upright "legs" are annoying. Not a fan of the feet that keep it in the upright position. It doesn't really do a good job of supporting its weight. Light pressure to the handle causes it to fall into "vacuum" mode and if you aren't paying attention the handle hits the floor. This vac is super well made and feels very heavy duty, it's definitely a good quality piece of equipment with fewer moving parts to worry about. -= Performance =- 5/5 It's very powerful. I thoroughly enjoy watching dirt fill up the canister left behind from my previous vacuum. The side areas of the vac head works very well, in fact, the best of any vac I've ever used. This vac lifts the nap of our short shag carpet very well as well as low pile, wood and tile floors. This also isn't a super noisy machine. The canister is very easy to pop off and on as well as empty for cleaning. The wand is easy to use, it took awhile to get the hang of disengaging it from the machine without fuss but once I understood how to do it correctly I can now do it without being too clumsy. You are also provided with some basic tools for the wand that make it easy to clean cobwebs, corner, and ceiling areas (with the wand) as well as upholstery and furnishings (without the wand, simply attach your desired tool directly to the hose). I foresee our home remaining cleaner after vacuuming with this Dyson. This machine requires less maintenance than other vacs we own, there are no bags to worry about, and the included filters can be washed (recommended to do this task once a month with regular usage) before they need to be replaced due to wear. -= What I love about this vacuum =- * Super easy to maneuver around corners and difficult to clean areas, this vac swivels much better than any I've ever owned. The cord is extra long to reach more areas of your house. * The suction on this machine is truly amazing! I would say it's the best I've experienced to far. The dirt goes directly into the canister from the head, so you won't find yourself losing suction unless there's a clog somewhere. The dirt isn't forced to wind around all sorts of receptacles (more common in American made uprights) where suction is lost. * Dyson offers a great 5 year limited warranty as long as the machine is treated with care. * This machine is super easy to maintain. AskDyson has videos on YouTube that covers maintenance and general care of this vac and answers basic questions. * I feel this vac is a great investment for the price point. I sincerely doubt you will find a better model from another company for the price. The main points are superb suction, ease of use, and low maintenance costs (no bags or filters to replace each month). If you want more tools, you'll have to spend more (upgrade to the Animal version or shell out cash for each tool). -= What I don't like =- * I cannot lay this vac down to use under the bed or our coffee tables, etc. It's simply too bulky with the ball shape to do this, so furniture must be moved around instead, or the wand must be used, which doesn't get quite as clean as using the vac itself. * The included accessories are adequate, but I would prefer to also have a few more to round out the efficiency of this vac. Additional tools (like the turbine tool for upholstery) are expensive and need to be considered with the price if needed. For example: a flexible crevice tool runs in the $30+ dollar range, mattress tool is $20+, turbine tool $30+ and so on. It really depends upon what your needs are. I like the turbine tool for cleaning our, upholstery, and stairs, so will consider purchasing that first. -= Verdict =- Must buy if you are in search of a new vacuum. Dyson users will probably benefit from waiting until their vacuum breaks because it still works great. Need a vacuum, buy this. Have a Dyson already... wait unless you want one on each floor like me :)

I couldn't wait to try this vacuum out when I got it, and for the most part it didn't disappoint. To start off with, the suction is really great. And after all, isn't that what a vacuum cleaner should be all about? On the plus side, the suction is at the top of the list. It's also highly maneuverable and even though it has a wide beater bar, it's pretty easy to drive it around. The head section that houses the beater bar has a floating bottom piece that maintains a great seal to the floor no matter where you use it. The 31 foot cord is nice to see on a vacuum for a change. The dust canister is easy to remove and clean, as you would expect. When using the beater bar on carpeting (you can turn it off for cleaning hard floors), it actually helps to pull the vacuum forward, so even though you can really tell it's got a good seal to the floor, it's not that hard to push it around. You can tell it's really doing a good job at sucking all the dirt out of the carpet. I don't have pets, but I'm sure it would do great with hair from dogs, cats, lemurs skunks, shrews or just about any other hairy thing you call your pet. The edge pick up is really good too and you don't have to use your foot to try to pull the crumbs away from the wall in order to run them over with the machine, it will get them just fine. This vacuum has a lot of great features to it, but unfortunately, there are some not so great features. On the minus side, the first thing I noticed was the noise this thing puts out. I was actually really surprised because all the Dyson products I have seen or used have been pretty quiet. Every piece on the outside of the machine is plastic, no nice aluminum extension tubes or click type button latches. In stead all the parts go together and have just a plastic tab that holds them in place. It seems secure enough, but for the price, I had expected more. Where this vacuum fails for me in in the external hose/wand/attachments. You park the vacuum with the handle up, pull up on a plastic handle that's at the end of an extension tube. The tube is stored down inside an external flex hose. When you pull it up about three feet, it can snap into the end of the hose or be completely removed. The tools that come with, can be stored on board which is also nice, but when you pull the hose to extend it so that you can use the pole to reach under or up high, instead of expanding easily and allowing you move freely, the suction that's inside the hose makes it want to shrink up to it's collapsed state. Pulling on it harder just starts dragging the rest of the machine around with you and I was always afraid I would pull the whole machine over. There's also no light on this machine, something else I thought would have been included in the high price tag. If you are looking for a straight upright vacuum with a whole lot of power to clean your carpet well and keep dust and debris off your hard floors, then I would by all means recommend this machine. But if you want to buy in to all the advertised versatility that this machine will give you, I would seriously consider a different one. It just didn't end up being nearly as versatile as it led me to believe.

The Dyson ball, multi floor 2 Included- Vacuum, wand, manual, a couple different attachments. Dyson offers free shipping to and from a Dyson Service Center for repairs. Assembly- There's a diagram to assemble the few different parts. It was fairly easy to snap together. The only issue was trying to get the wand inserted into the tube and have it line up and completely fit. Eventually it did go. It takes a little effort to put back after each use. Operation- The cord is about 30 feet long, which I love so I'm not constantly stopping to move the plug. The Dyson is pretty light weight, about 15 pounds so it's easy to lift and carry when necessary. The suction is strong. I had vacuumed our family room carpet with a different vacuum and then immediately used this new Dyson, and it still picked up dirt and sand that the other vacuum must have missed. The steering is easy and comfortable. It swivels side to side and back and forth without much effort. There is a natural press down and release on the vacuum to shift it from standing mode into push mode. Using your foot is not required. The base, which is about 13 1/4" wide, is self adjusting so it smoothly switches between our hardwood/tile to the carpet. The wand releases fairly easily and suction still holds up nicely. To empty the bin, you simply push the orange button, and then while you're over the trash bin, push down on the orange button to release the door. To wash the filter, it is also easy to access. The top pops lifts up and the filter is easy to pull out. The spin brush has a button to turn it off and on so you the option of using it or not depending on your floor. If it gets locked up on any item, the spin brush automatically turns off. A couple personal negatives- I wish there were a couple more attachments, especially a better stair one. I'm not a fan of the air forcing out of the top of the handle when it is completely upright and locked. Also, the ball gets pretty hot after running and takes a while to cool down and attracts dust to it. A couple different times during actual vacuuming, the entire base has popped off from the vacuum. I'm not sure why that's happening since there's no bumping or crashing, just normal use. I am concerned it's going to be an ongoing problem. The canister isn't quite as large as I would prefer. I have a 4000 sq. ft house and I sometimes have to empty the bin before I'm done vacuuming the entire house. Overall, it's a nice vacuum. There's always room for improvement but so far so good. I'm hopeful it will hold up, be durable and reliable long term. I'm hoping the vacuum will live up to it's big name.

I have a few different vacuum cleaners in my house but this is by far my favorite. Maintenance is not difficult and it really gets deep down into the carpet. The first time I used it I was surprised how much it picked up. I vacuum the house on a regular basis and the carpet never seems dirty. However, it pulled up a lot the first time I used it. The floors in my house are part carpet and part hardwood floor. There is a switch for deep cleaning, of course, but there is also a switch to stop the brush from moving, which is necessary if I use it on the hardwood floor. Normally, I just sweep the hardwood floors in my house and occasionally mop when necessary, but I wanted to try it on both types of floors because the packaging says it is for use on all floors. It is a great vacuum cleaner, which I enjoy using more than any other vacuum cleaner I have used in my house over the last year. Additionally, it is easy to clean and wasn't hard to put together. The attachments work great. The only problem I have is that occasionally the vacuum head will become disconnected when I am vacuuming around corners. This is probably because it has a head that swirls to get into tough corners and if it is an extremely difficult spot the head tends to fall off. It's relatively easy to get back on so it isn't a big deal; it is just a little annoying. Overall, I really do like this item and recommend it.

I had high hopes for this vacuum after reading all the great reviews but an hour after using it I was calling customer service. The roller brush would stop working on my carpet after a few seconds.I tried all surfaces, carpet and hardwood and the vacuum worked fine but on my oriental carpets it would stop. Very disappointing for an expensive machine. Customer service was great. I called and there was a long wait so I left my number and I was amazed that a rep called me back in 20 minutes. I explained my problem and he walked me through the steps to fix my vacuum. There is a very small gasket that is in the vaccum head that causes suction and I had to remove the gasket to decrease the suction a little. I was amazed to find the vaccum worked after removing the gasket. The suction was great and the dirt removed from my floors was unbelievable. The vaccum itself seems cheap and plasticy compared to my old vacuums. The hose takes some getting used to and is awkward. The customer service rep suggested I take the hose and keep it wrapped around the vacuum to stretch it. Over all happy with the vaccuum. It takes practice to get used to it. Definitely has room for improvement. Customer service was amazing right away. My house feels cleaner than it has for years.

This vacuum was easy to build right out of the box and is relatively simple use. This is my first Dyson and I was excited to get cleaning with this guy! The vacuum is light compared to the previous uprights I've owned and using it feels nice as it easily maneuvers and turns seamlessly thanks to the ball. The suction is strong, very strong in fact. In my home, it works well on the carpets in the bedrooms and tile floors in the kitchen and living room, but when used on thicker carpets like the memory foam carpets in my bathroom or the thick shagged carpet on the doorway entrance, it will create a seal and be impossible to move. No real biggie for me since I can use the hose attachments for these small step carpets. Just keep in mind that if your entire house or bedrooms have very thick carpet, this Dyson might not be for you. One gripe I have with it is the absence of a non-retractible cord, hence why I docked one star. Other than that, it has a cool design, it feels comfortable to use and maneuver and picks up so much dirt that I can lie down on my floor and rest assured that it is truly clean.

After being without a Dyson vacuum for several years, my wife traded in my Animal on another vacuum, I was excited for the new ball. I love the automatic height adjustment so I don't have to figure out which setting to use for different carpets or wood floors in my house. From the beginning, it is pretty straight forward to assemble. Like four things click together and you're ready to go. I like the integrated hose and attachments so everything is always with me and not in a separate bag in the utility closet. Performance wise it is what you would expect from a Dyson. I had new carpet installed about six months ago and it does well with 72oz frieze carpet. The one problem was with the 78oz pile that is in my bedroom. This carpet is extremely thick and deep and the auto height adjustment has a problem with it and the brush will periodically stop depending on the direction of the carpet and the direction I'm pushing the vacuum. It did get through it but it was a bit slower process. If you have rooms with very dense and deep carpet this might not be the vacuum for you. For everything else including the hardwood floors it was great!

Let me preface this by saying that this is my first Dyson vacuum. I have owned Bissells and Sharks over the years. I was aware of Dyson's place in the vacuum hierarchy. Dyson is the premium brand, with modern designs and innovative features. With that said, this Dyson vacuum lives up to the powerful suction the brand is known for. If you are looking for an entry level upright Dyson vacuum cleaner for basic (non-animal) cleaning, then this is for you. Pros: -Tools, Wands, and Hoses Included -Handsfree Canister Cleaning -Bagless -HEPA filtration system -Long 30 ft power cord -Unique color and modern design -Swivel steering/maneuverability -Powerful suction that is auto adjusts to variety of floor types -Residential and Commercial use -5 year warranty Cons: -Premium price -Heavier and more bulky compared to average vacuums -No headlight -No wet and dry usage -No automatic cord retraction/rewind -Can be noisy -Less than ideal build quality for the price

So I unboxed the Dyson today and it was a snap to put together. The instructions are a bit hard to visualize based on the illustrations of the tool holder, but one look at the photo on the box took care of that. I own the DC07 animal also and there are a number of pros that this model has over it's predecessor. The tools tuck nicely into the left side of the unit, down low instead of on the back of the handle. I also like that the hose attachment is separate from the handle and attaches low so it doesn't kink when you are edging the baseboards like the DC07. The long cord is handy for doing multiple rooms without having to move from outlet to outlet. If there is one downside to the ball, it's that it doesn't lock very well. It takes very little effort to pop the handle down which in turn has the unit falling over rather easily. I personally think that it still needs a foot/toe release, not just a tug. All in all, I think I will enjoy using this unit over the old one.

This is my first Dyson vacuum cleaner. Honestly, I purchased it because by fiance had been wanting one for years. We previously had a similar sized shark vacuum cleaner. Minor assembly required however it is very simple. The vacuum looks great. The suction is CRAZY powerful compared to the shark and cleanup is very simple. Maneuverability is outstanding! The only drawback after a month of use is that using the attachments are cumbersome. The attachments themselves are fine however there is no length to the hose making it extremely limited in use. I have used it to clean baseboards and vacuum the couch, but it is difficult to say the least. Definitely not a dealbreaker but if you use the attachment, I would definitely familiarize yourself with the vacuum to make sure it's doable for you. If not... find another Dyson with a better attachment system vs. find another brand.

Got this product after reviewing, researching and comparing with other brands and types. The size is good (not very short in height) and not very long (like stick vacuum cleaners). The suction is strong. Noise is bit higher. Transitions between floor and carpet smoothly and cleans all surfaces very well. The accessories are also nice. I am new to Dyson products (or this type of cleaners) so sometime i found simple things (emptying filter, attaching accessories) not very clear. (can do it only after looking at manual, videos etc). However my wife has used them before and is a pro so i think it's not an issue if you use it for a while. I would have given it a 5 if i had felt it lighter on my hand/wrist and a less noisy. Otherwise i picked the product after looking around and found it the best in performance and price.

I like my Dyson vacuum from Best Buy; my husband died, so I was forced to vacuum the house myself and I could not use the former vacuum that he used because I have terrible back problems and it was so heavy and hard to maneuver. This Dyson is lighter in weight and really picks up the dirt. Plus, it is a real dream to manipulate around the furniture, standing lamps, etc. It works well on tile, wood and carpeted floors and even on stairs. My husband always had to change the bag in the old one, but the Dyson doesn't use them; all you have to do is open the canister and dump the dirt in a waste basket. I like that because you can really see just how well it picks up. You can notice the distinct difference on the carpet--before and after. It also has attachments for cleaning furniture and you really don't have to use the wand attachment since it runs right up to the baseboards.

The Dyson Multi Floor 2 is an amazing machine! We have a dog and carpet, so it is very important for us to have a vacuum that is strong enough to pick up the mess that gets left behind. The Multi Floor 2 gets this accomplished with ease. It is so easy to maneuver, and it looks really nice. One thing that I find myself doubting is how long the roller attachment (attaches to the lower ball portion) will last since it doesn't seem like a very sturdy attachment. I've only had the vacuum for a few days, but haven't had any issues with it. I hope that it goes this way for years to come. It is equipped with two attachments to help clean up corners and other small areas, and attach to the vacuum in a way that blends in to the design and makes them hard to notice. Overall, I love the suction strength that it has. I would recommend this vacuum to anyone with a pet and carpet.

Girlfriend, wanted this vacum and definitely can say it sucks. Nothing too inordinately about it. Yes, it can pivot steer, and has a hepa filter on it, as well the catch chamber filter can be washed and reused, till they fall apart, however long, i don't know. Anyways, it's a little loud as well, but what appliance isn't nowdays? No retractable cord, huge bummer, the self adjusting head is pretty cool. Oh it also has a on off head switch, so if you want to just use the vacum you can! I thought that was a nifty thought. Either way, the vacum does what it was intended for, and cleans well. If she's happy with it, then I'm generally cool about it too. Not too sure about the $249 price tag, more like a $200 vacum. If you're even remotely curious about this unit, watch YouTube on Dyson vacums.

This vacuum was to replace a Bissell that we owned for several years. We have half of our house carpeted and two golden retrievers. The suction is quite amazing. I don't think this has anything to do with filtration or the motor but simply that the vacuum head sits right against the carpet so there is no room for outside air. It is almost like a rolling suction cup on your carpet. On that note it does pick up a lot more that a regular vacuum. The hoses are not as easy since you have to unhook, unclick, etc. to use them however, it isn't that big of a deal. The vacuum is very easy to maneuver and is just as heavy/light as our old bag less Bissell. Overall, it does pick up a lot more that the Bissell but you also pay twice as much. That is my only reason for giving 4 stars. Not sure it is worth the cost.

I've had multiple Dyson vacuum cleaners over the past few years, but this is the first I've had with the ball setup. I didn't think it'd make a drastic difference in maneuverability, but I was dead wrong. Coupled with the slight frame of the vacuum, this thing is incredibly agile and easy to use. As with all Dyson vacuums, it's also incredibly powerful. At this price point, I would've expected more attachments. It comes with only two, but I suppose that's expected on the lower model. Also, overall, the construction feels pretty cheap. It's the usual gaudy Dyson plastic, but the feel of the mechanisms (especially the bin release) has me worried about the longevity of this vacuum. Hopefully it lasts for many years, because the suction power and the ability of this vacuum make it a joy to use.

When it comes to vacuums, Dyson is synonomous with quality so I was very excited to finally own one for myself. I used a roommate's Dyson a few years ago and was suprised how easy and well it worked. It sucked up dirt/lint/etc. on the first pass everytime. Now fast forward to the Multifloor 2 I bought a few weeks ago. It worked great on bare/wood floors! You can (literally) feel the vacuum seal onto the floor. The brush moved well on carpet as well. The problem that we encountered was with our area rug, which is soft and plush. The Dyson sucked so well that the vacuum wouldn't move. On our other vacuum, the height is adjustable to accomodate different surfaces, which you can't do on this Dyson. I was bummed and had no choice but to return it. Otherwise, it's a great vacuum!

When this item went on sale that was the best time to pick one up. The suction is great and its light weight for my wife to carry. Dispensing the collection is easy, press a button and the bottom opens up. For the money I would expect that they design it so the bottom open much more so the collection does not cover the bottom lid. They should also include a recoil system instead of having to rap the electrical cable around two points. Wish they also included a thin retangular attachment to get into thin or narrow places. This is very much a basic vacuum that performs well. According to Customer Report there are several others that does a better job with suction, but looked to bulky or heavy not esthetically pleasing for my wife

Incredible suction power, even the wand and attachments. The attachment wand telescopes out of the main hose connected to the handle of the machine. I have found it to be a bit cumbersome in some tight/close spaces, but it's cleaning power is better than any other machine I've owned. Be aware that this machine may be too powerful for lightweight throw rugs. It is fairly light and very easy to maneuver. The dirt canister removes and empties easily. The cord is not retractable. For cleaning power and maneuverability I give this machine a 5. The non retractable cord and awkwardness of the attachment handle gets a 4. I would rate this machine a 4.5 overall.

We had a Dyson for about 12 years before it eventually started making horrible noises and stinking. Knowing the brand was good, we went to find a new Dyson for our house, and this is the one we chose. It is a vacuum with great suction and cleans well. There are two knocks that I see in the product. The first is that it isn't very sturdy when put away. It can easily be pulled or fall over, having kids this is more evident. The second is the lip where the cord winds feels very flimsy like it could easily break. If this breaks, that will leave loose extention cord when stored.
