This is an upgrade to an older dyson DC33 that I never gave me a single problem. I loved that vacuum cleaner like a son ;-). However, this new Dyson ball multi floor 2 is honestly my new best vacuum cleaner I ever used. Its light, has a low profile brush assembly which gets under furniture easier and is so strong it propels itself forward.I cannot see any cons other than its too good!

Before receiving this Dyson I had a pretty good vacuum that also ranks high in average customer reviews (made by a company with the name of an ocean fish made famous by a series of movies). In my review I’ll be using some comparison between the two. When I first unboxed the Dyson I noticed the simple directions to assemble the vacuum. They basically use pictures with no text which is fine since it’s just a few pieces to snap together. I looked it over to make sure everything looked ok and disassembled the filter/container area to make sure there was nothing else to take apart before trying it out. As easy as it sounds, the directions seem a little too dumbed down. Before even starting it up I noticed that the build quality seems to be lacking compared to my current vacuum. Lots of moving plastic parts and a somewhat wobbly vacuum that will fall over if not correctly locked into place. It’s wobbly and feels like it could fall with little effort. When I first started vacuuming I noticed that the vacuum is much heavier and harder to move over the carpet than my other vacuum which is self-propelled. I also noticed that it got hot, like it was putting off heat and it had a chemical smell coming from it. I assumed it was from it being new and went ahead and finished vacuuming the floor to notice that there was a tiny clear sand type substance that was all over the ball and bottom of the vacuum. I emptied the container to see more of the tiny clear particles in the container along with dirt, dust, hair and the normal things you get when vacuuming the floor. I figured that since it was my first time using it I would call customer service. Dyson customer service was very helpful in getting the vacuum registered and walking me thru some possible troubleshooting for the vacuum. They said that this is not normal and offered to replace it. This would involve me boxing it back up and shipping it back and waiting a few weeks for a replacement. I decided since it has a 5 year warranty that I would keep it and see if the problem persisted. I’ve vacuumed several times after this incident and have not noticed as much of the clear particles, but there’s still some there. That brings us to the vacuum. It did do an amazing job sucking up dirt and dust off of my floor. We don’t have animals and normally keep a clean house but this thing was doing some serious work. The amount of suction the Dyson had was quite impressive. It cleaned a lot of dust off of my floors that I didn’t think was there. Using the hose is a pain. The hose is very tightly installed in the vacuum and with the amount of suction and the weight and lack of sturdiness from the Dyson it’s almost impossible to remove it while the vacuum is running. It just springs right back into the vacuum, pulls the vacuum towards you or knocks the vacuum over because of the way it’s built. I tried the vacuum on both carpets and hard floors and it did a great job. Did it do better than the much cheaper vacuum that I purchased on sale? It seemed that way. Is it easier to operate than that cheaper vacuum? No. Pros on this vacuum: Suction strength. Wow. Easy cleaning/emptying canister House and air really “feels” cleaner after using Looks cool (C’mon this thing looks like a muscle car) Cons on this vacuum: Price Build quality Design quality (Hose and wobbly upright lock in design) Yes, my house felt cleaner after using the dyson. The vacuum is harder to use and push around than my previous vacuum. So if this is for someone with not a lot of arm strength I’d say you should weigh whether or not the suction power is worth the extra force needed to push it. The hose system is almost unusable unless I’m doing something really wrong. Maybe it will loosen up over time? With it’s current design I feel like it’s unusable on stairs due to the fact that the hose pulls so much on the unit that it is constantly in the way or feels like it’s going to fall. For that reason I’ll be keeping my other vacuum handy at least until the hose loosens up or I figure out a better method. Not sure why Dyson hasn’t worked up a solution for this. Maybe concentrating more on suction power than how it’s used. It’s kind of like having a car with so much torque that it rips the axles off. I’m giving the dyson 3 stars for suction and that it does exactly what it says. I’m deducting 2 stars for the hose being what it is and for the price which is much higher than other comparable vacuums on the market. If I could use this on my stairs without it springing back into my face I’d add another star.

Hi there, this is Krystal with Dyson. Thank you for taking the time to leave a review on the Dyson Ball Multi floor 2. I m pleased to hear that you are satisfied with the amount of suction power this unit provides. With the amount of suction you get from this machine, you may find that it is picking up what your previous vacuum could not, which is why you may be seeing the dust. This will, over time. The same can be said about the hose. With it being new, some parts may be a little stiff.

As for the quality, please rest assured, Dyson machines are made from polycarbonate ABS which is the same material used in riot shields and crash helmets. We subject them to 50,000 hours of testing and 550 individual tests. All of this to ensure they can withstand a lifetime's hard use.
You may view a short video on some of the testing processes here:

The Best Vacuum I've ever owned.

I don't get excited about vacuuming often. So this is definitely a first. I recently tested this against my standard run of the mill vacuum that's known for their "vortex" suction, and is considerably more budget friendly. I first did a pass with the other branded one in my living room to see what it would grab. I hadn't vacuumed in the last week, and with my two dogs, found plenty of dander and pet hair. I then went over it again with the Dyson, and was able to clean up even more. Like filled the canister more. I did another pass with the other one, and it didn't find anything, aside from a leaf I had missed in the previous two passes. I then did the bedroom with the Dyson. Same basic living situation with my small dogs. It quickly vacuumed up everything, and with ease. I didn't find myself running out of power cable either; which is a problem with my other one. Once I finished vacuuming up the bedroom, I did a pass with the other vacuum, and it didn't pull up anything. I mean zero dirt, dander, or pet hair. The easiest test by far, is my stair well. The other vacuum required an extension cord to get to the bottom. Note: I don't have any power outlets near the entry way (I have a private entry stairwell). The Dyson easily had enough power cable to spare, and didn't require odd positioning to do the job with the included tools. I also like that the brushes stop spinning when the vacuum is upright. No more launching dust into the air when I pick it up to hit the next stair step. This is a MUST buy for those of you that don't like having to deal with a secondary hard floor tool (you just push a button on this one), and for those that want to spend less time, with more effective results, cleaning around the house. I loved this so much, I've already recommended it to my friends and family. So, stop reading this if you're worried it won't do the job. It goes above and beyond any other vacuum in it's price range, and those claiming to be as effective at a lower price point.

    Powerful Vacuum

This is a very powerful vacuum. After the first time I used it, upon emptying the container, I noticed a lot more fine dirt and dust that my previous vacuum was missing. Along with that power, the design of this vacuum is very appealing. That may sound strange, but it's well-designed and I imagine many people wouldn't be afraid to have this in view if guests were over. Speaking of the design, Dyson has done some clever things in how the hose and attachments are stored. Everything seems to be very neat and doesn't get in the way when you're using the vacuum and the attachments aren't in use. It is also very easy to maneuver, thanks to the ball design. With the width of the floor vacuum and the ball design, you can make quick work of vacuuming. Using the hose attachment can take some getting used to, since it is a bit different than other vacuums I've used in the past. It sort of collapses inside the neck/hose of the vacuum. Not a bad thing at all, just a little different. I did face a couple of issues, while minor, may be of more importance to others. First, the main floor vacuum part is pretty wide. This is great for most of the flooring, as you can cover a wider area at a time. Though, it became a bit of an issue while trying to get between some shelving and things. Along those same lines, there's a sort of bump on the front of the vacuum too that prevented me from getting under a couple pieces of my furniture. Again, neither are a deal breaker, as you could use the hose and attachments to reach those areas, and I think the good outweighs the bad of having the wider area coverage. There also isn't a light on the front of the vacuum. Not a huge deal, but it would be beneficial at times to have one. Pros: Easy to move, wide cleaning area, powerful, nicely designed Cons: Can't quite fit into some smaller areas (under/between furniture), no front "headlight"

Bought this vacuum to replace a Hoover vacuum cleaner. Has very strong suction self adjusts to different flooring types. Very light-weight and the swivel head makes it real easy to get into different areas. Thought it was a little expensive to pay for it but after having it and using it for awhile now it is certainly worth it.

I bought this as a present for my 81 yo dad who still carried a monster of a vacuum upstairs. The Dyson is so much lighter and you can’t beat the suction power. The cord is plenty long enough and the ease of self adjusting for different floors makes it so he doesn’t have to bend down. It also moves as if self propelled so no more heavy pushing or pulling. For a con, I would have to say using the handle as a cleaning wand is not the easiest but it is doable. Would highly recommend this model to anyone!

Girlfriend, wanted this vacum and definitely can say it sucks. Nothing too inordinately about it. Yes, it can pivot steer, and has a hepa filter on it, as well the catch chamber filter can be washed and reused, till they fall apart, however long, i don't know. Anyways, it's a little loud as well, but what appliance isn't nowdays? No retractable cord, huge bummer, the self adjusting head is pretty cool. Oh it also has a on off head switch, so if you want to just use the vacum you can! I thought that was a nifty thought. Either way, the vacum does what it was intended for, and cleans well. If she's happy with it, then I'm generally cool about it too. Not too sure about the $249 price tag, more like a $200 vacum. If you're even remotely curious about this unit, watch YouTube on Dyson vacums.

Firm believer in purchasing budget or slightly more expensive vacuums from big box retailers. Done that all my life and have never been disappointed. That said, heard great things about Dyson over the years and my wife said multiple times "I've always wanted one." So guess what we got on Black Friday / Cyber Monday weekend? A Dyson. So far, so good - powerful suction, lightweight and maneuverable. Need to empty often, but that's A) because the suction is so powerful (you can clearly see it vacuum up more and smaller dust particles than budget vacuums get) and B) it's SO EASY and QUICK to empty and get back to vacuuming. So far, 5 Stars and I would recommend this to friends.

This vacuum was my final choice after having purchased and returned the Dyson Ball Animal 2 and the Dyson Small Ball Multi-floor. The Ball Animal 2 was powerful but too big, bulky, heavy, and not easy to maneuver. The Small Ball Multi-floor was lightweight and easy to maneuver but the canister was too small and it wasn't powerful enough. The Ball Multi-Floor 2 however, was just right; lightweight, easy to maneuver, powerful, and the canister size was perfect. Pricy but worth it!

This is a great vacuum. You can empty the canister of dirt directly into the garbage can. This vacuum is a lot better than Hover wind tunnel multi floor. The Hoover would treat our carpet is if it was hardwood floor. The Dyson does not do that. This Dyson is also better than Shark. vacuum. Shark you have empty the dirt canister into a plastic bag like a grocery sack. The Dyson you empty the dirt canister directly into the garbage can.

This vacuum was easy to build right out of the box and is relatively simple use. This is my first Dyson and I was excited to get cleaning with this guy! The vacuum is light compared to the previous uprights I've owned and using it feels nice as it easily maneuvers and turns seamlessly thanks to the ball. The suction is strong, very strong in fact. In my home, it works well on the carpets in the bedrooms and tile floors in the kitchen and living room, but when used on thicker carpets like the memory foam carpets in my bathroom or the thick shagged carpet on the doorway entrance, it will create a seal and be impossible to move. No real biggie for me since I can use the hose attachments for these small step carpets. Just keep in mind that if your entire house or bedrooms have very thick carpet, this Dyson might not be for you. One gripe I have with it is the absence of a non-retractible cord, hence why I docked one star. Other than that, it has a cool design, it feels comfortable to use and maneuver and picks up so much dirt that I can lie down on my floor and rest assured that it is truly clean.

My boyfriend and I have been contemplating on what type of vacuum to get. We have 3 dogs and 80% of our home is carpeted. I looked up reviews for awhile and went down the rabbit hole. Well we kept planning on going to buy a cheap vacuum once again, but after 2 that died in less than 2 years apparently it was time to invest. To make a long story short I cringed at buying it, but Mike from Best Buy went through all of the options and demonstrations and also patiently answered all of my questions. My boyfriend was sold from the beginning. Even though it took me a little longer to agree to buy a $400 vacuum I am so happy we did. At the point of me writing this review its been 2 hours since we purchased it. It was easy to unbox and assemble. It is a little heavy, but the ball design makes up for it since its easy to maneuver. I vacuumed my living room 7 times and omg the carpet was filthy. I did the rest of the house once and all I can say is WOW. This thing has some serious suction power and gets better each time. The dirt in the garbage bag weighs about 5-10 pounds. This was definitely a great investment.

I love the looks and sucking power of this vacuum cleaner. It is easy to assemble and use with instructions provided. I had one Dyson before which worked for many years until it died recently. So I bought this one as a replacement. I have never used the plastic extension for the hand held usage when vacuuming. I would love to have one upright without extra tools. It will make the vacuum lighter. Right now it is a little too loud and too heavy for my liking and this is why I am giving it 4 instead of 5 stars.
