It's powerful enough to pull up all the dust/dirt off of my floors and not having to buy bags is super neat. Unfortunately I can no longer retract the cord which makes this much less convenient to use and not what I would expect from a Dyson product.

The attachments are useless. Therefore cleaning that I could do with my previous vacuum has to be done by hand sometime on my hands and knees. It is high maintenance just with cleaning the filter and and keeping the canister clean. It was also very problematic that when I first started using it and had questions no one at Dyson or your store would bother to respond or help.

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Our Shark died a while ago and we (stupidly) replaced it with a Bissell Pet Hair vacuum to try and save money. The Bissell was awful and yet again found we ourselves looking for a decent vacuum. After reading many reviews, we bought the Dyson Big Ball and boy oh boy are we glad we did! With 2 cats and a toddler, life gets messy and this vacuum can handle it all and then some! To say I’m happy is an understatement. It’s compact, beautiful, ergonomic and wow does it suck, literally! My floors have never been cleaner, my wood floors shine and carpets are dirt free and you can go from one or the other with ease. It even has a nifty suction release tool right under the handle! It’s easy to use on stairs too, has a long reach wand which is great for high corners to get pesky cobwebs and baseboards can be dusted with ease. It is a lot quieter than other vacuums too and thanks to the ball design, re-rights itself should it somehow topple! A great machine for the home.

I have mostly tile, but it’s really a pain that I can’t vacuum my area rugs with my new vacuum. My 13 year old dyson upright works better on the rugs than this new one! I’m outside of the return period or I’d absolutely return it.

Do not recommend for carpet or wood floors

We have carpet and even when using the finger release it is difficult to vacuum. The head seem rough and aggressive m so I shy away from using on hardwood. Wish I never bought it, especially now that I see they go on sale for hundreds less.

Frustrating straight out of the box...

But it is ridiculously hard to vacuum the carpet. There is no manual height adjustment so that is not an option. Even using the trigger option, which I should not have to do on basic wall to wall carpet, barely lessens the force needed. I've spent hours trying to find a solution. The frustrating thing is this seems to be a widespread issue with many Dyson models but I cannot find a solution for this particular one. So very disappointed.

It's unusual to hear that you're having this issue with the canister. Generally, when the issue occurs with an upright, we recommend trying out a canister machine, as those tend to work better on flooring like yours. With an upright machine, the weight of the vacuum in the ball rests directly above the cleaner head contributing to the hard-to-push issue. With your canister machine, the weight of the machine is still in the ball, but because it's a different part of the machine, we generally don't see issues with the wand/floor tool being difficult to use on these vacuums.

If you do make a mistake and buy this remember Best Buy has a two week return police I tried to return at two weeks and 5 days and the totally just kept my money. Now I’m stuck with this worthless piece of machinery. We have all hardwoods and it’s minimally acceptable for those but forget and type of rug like it just doesn’t even go it’s a nightmare.

The wife didn’t like the suction it had plus it’s a little cumbersome trying to pull around so we decided to try one of the stick vacuums. We got the V11 pet and it’s pretty amazing.

The way a vacuum always should have been!

Stop wasting your money on hundred and something dollar vacuums every year or two and hating them the whole time as they don't really clean your floor cuz their suction never really sucked and you sit on the floor and unclog them all the time. Just buy this vacuum! they have a 14 day full refund return policy if you don't feel it is superior enough to be worth its price tag believe me it is. Check on price match. if it's not on sale haven't seen it for more than $100 off. Might think it's crazy to spend so much but it's that much better the other ones are crap made by tricky robbers. Sure it is an investment but you will be so blown away by the quality of how well it works I bet you won't return it and you'll see it as an investment because you know how the other ones just break so might as well invest and have it last for 5 years and enjoy your vacuuming experience. Easy to use everything's in its place simple powerful puts other vacuums to shame it should be illegal to sell the other vacuums it's literally like stealing your money whenever you compare it to this vacuum. a vacuum is an investment that should work well that helps keep your family healthy and safe it shouldn't break every couple years like the last few uprights I bought I also feel like the fact this is a canister vacuum is just a much better design as well but I think any Dyson is going to just bring it as far as vacuuming goes the other vacuums literally do not seem like Vacuums in comparison I can't stress that enough. It looks like it's kind of big in the picture but it's not it's nice and Compact but has a big enough canister and it's got handles where it should and slots for everything and all the attachments you would need without going overboard secure don't fall off when you're not using them which has happened with the attachments on other vacuums quite annoying. I mean you will want to vacuum more if you have this vacuum you will want to clean your floor completely just to see it like clean stuff it is fun too use! It is bafflingly silent it is the quietest vacuum on the planet you could probably vacuum with this vacuum in the same room with a sleeping person and the person would not wake up. Almost forgot whenever you vacuum and you maybe vacuumed up something that might be a little larger such as a penny let's say and you know how you usually hear the penny kind of Slam around the corner is it goes in this literally doesn't Slam at all it just gets vacuumed in it doesn't sound like it's getting hit at all or damaging your vacuum in anyway which is very comforting the vacuum is doing its job not asking you to pre clean smaller items before you vacuum.
