I have got to say that I am a very practical person. I'm also a very clean person. Not quite an obsessive neat freak but I am close to that label. That means I can use a simple, cheap vacuum and use it to keep my house clean and it will suit my needs just fine because I clean pretty much every day. This was how it was before I got married and had kids and pets. Let's fast forward past my bachelor days and on to the present days of a wife, 4 kids and a large breed dog and a cat. My old vacuum broke. It just wasn't picking up anymore due to a whole. Needed a vacuum replacement. I'm not a picky guy but it gets annoying having to replace a vacuum every few years. So I went ahead and splurged on this expensive DYSON for the sake of longevity. Here's what I found after purchasing this item. Ladies and gentleman I am a neat individual but clearly I have been subjugating my family to absolute filth. I'm not even exaggerating at all. My house looks clean but I whipped this thing out and picked up so much dirt and HAIR that I was disgusted with myself. My dog doesn't even visibly shed and you could never tell there's a dog present if you walk in but still....I"m just amazed there was so much within my floors. The suction of this thing is fantastic. The accessories that come with the DYSON also made it simple to get to hard to reach places. I haven't done my stairs EVER because it was so difficult and inconvenient with my previous vacuum but the flexible hose made it so easy I just couldn't resist. I've done my SUV, my washer dryer area and the lint trap, my MATTRESS and the floors every other day. Each time this thing picks up tons of dirt and hair. It truly does what it claims it can do. I have no complaints about its performance. Some reviews that I read prior to purchasing this vacuum is that it's hard to maneuver. I'm sorry but unless you are a person with extreme rheumatoid arthritis then you should have no problem with this vacuum. My ten year old daughter has to vacuum 2x per week and she has no problems using this vacuum. So unless you're physically incapacitated then you're either weaker than a ten year old (which means you need to consult a physician) or you're just an idiot. I love this thing and I hope to keep it forever. My only concerns is that the vacuum gets filled up very quickly. So you will be emptying it frequently if you have a large area to cover. Personally I don't think it's that big a deal but it can be annoying. Second, the price. Now I know this is pretty much the top of the line model but this thing is not cheap. Keep in mind the age old adage of "you get what you pay for". For this price however, I think there should be a rebate to knock off like a hundred bucks or something. Other than that, great product. If you have pets, you want this. If you have multiple people in your home, you want this. Get it and stop letting your family live nasty.

    Pets? No Problem!

Most people who by this vacuum are doing so because it is supposed to remove pet hair. Hence the "Animal" in the product name. So, let me first start by saying that this vacuum does a great job with pet hair! This is especially true when trying to get pet hair off your furniture. The "pet" attachment is simply wonderful. I have owned several vacuums with this kind of attachment over the years, and this one puts all the others to shame - by a wide margin. Now, on to a more comprehensive review: Assembly is a snap. Literally. You don't need tools. Everything simply snaps into place. I especially like the retractable extension that is inserted directly into the main hose, which sits nicely out of the way in the main housing. With other vacuums that I've owned, the hose seemed to always be in the way, particularly when trying to wrap the cord after I was finished with the machine. No problems here. Also, the cord is longer than I've ever had, so I can literally vacuum 90% of my apartment from a single plug-in. I was pleasantly surprised at how quiet this machine is. That being said, don't be fooled - because this is a powerful machine. As I stated earlier, I've had several vacuums over the years. This is the only one that noticeably lifted the carpet up with it's suction. My other machines did a nice job of getting the pet hair out of my carpet, but honestly, I didn't really notice much dirt with those other machines. The first time I used this Dyson, I was astounded at the dirt that was mixed with the pet hair. My only dislike is the way the machine is built. It's really all plastic, so you have to be careful not to ram it against a coffee table, because there's likely a real possibility that you can crack something. The only other thing I had to get used to was standing the machine upright. It doesn't really have a distinct locked upright feature, so there were a few times the machine simply fell over when I first got it. So be careful! As I said, it's mostly plastic, and you don't want to crack it! Overall, this is the single best vacuum that I've ever owned. Yes, it is more expensive than some vacuums that claim to be similar - but the difference is the cleaning quality is really noticeable.

    Amazing!!!

I bought this Dyson on black Friday, for a great price. I have a Dyson DC17 Animal, which is an amazing vacuum but it is getting old and not nearly as versatile as newer vacuums. I purchased a major competitor of Dyson's and while it is a good machine, it just isn't as powerful as my Dyson. My grandmother bough another competitor of Dyson's on Black Friday, and it was also a good machine but still not as powerful as my older Dyson is. After using both of the competitors, one of them for over a year, I decided I wanted another Dyson. Let me start with one word, WOW! This Dyson has a lot more pros than cons. First the machine is extremely maneuverable, even better than the other two vacuums I used that also have a steerable cleaning head. Two, the suction power of this new Dyson is incredible. You can hear and feel just how much air this machine is moving. Three, the new Dyson has a great cleaning head, you can feel it vibrating the carpet and it leaves a beautiful cleaning path. Something I noticed, after buying this vacuum, was there is no longer a sole plate on the bottom which means when you vacuum you are cleaning the entire area, instead of just where the brush hits. Four, this machine comes with a lot of great attachments that none of the competitors offered standard when purchasing the vacuum. I was able to vacuum the ceiling fans, mattresses, curtains, car, between the dryer and washer, air conditioner vents, couches, stairs, and even above the cabinets without a problem. You definitely want to pay the extra money and get this model, because the attachments make vacuuming way easier. Five, the new wand design is fantastic! You just pull it out and go, plus the tools snap on to the hose and wand and no longer fall off. Six is definitely how QUIET the vacuum is. I was blown away by how quiet this vacuum was when I was using it, compared to my old Dyson which is pretty loud. So far I haven't found anything that I don't like about this new Dyson, but if I do I will come back and update my review.

Disappointed, awkward to use, older model superior

I am completely disappointed in this vacuum, don't quite understand how the quality and ease of use declined so greatly in such a highly rated, higher end product. I love my older model Dyson, it is about 10 years old, in great condition but needed some parts replaced; a gasket, belt, and filter. Before the parts arrived I ended up needing to vacuum for guests so I got a new Dyson and planned to re-purpose the older one. I did some quick research on price & performance, and at the store ended up choosing the best model Best Buy had to offer, as family has allergies and I was expecting a long lasting, quality product. From the very first time I set up and used this vacuum I was unhappy, the suction is equal or less than my 10 year old model, motion is not smooth, difficult around furniture. This unit is hard to control; the roller ball is very hard to maneuver and REALLY hard on your arm & shoulder. I am fairly athletic and can only imagine someone who wasn't would find it difficult and painful to use even for a short time. The tools and bag seemed exciting at first but quickly realized that there is no on board storage for even the 1-2 most commonly used accessories and nowhere to put the bag unless you want to carry it like a purse from room to room. The new accessories only work with the new models because they click into the hose instead of a tension fit.. Seems like the idea behind all the new tools is good but the execution is poor, down to the way the accessories don't fit neatly into the pockets of the bag. For the price I feel like there are many competitors models with superior performance at about 1/2 the cost. I was a big fan & cheerleader for Dyson but unless there is a major improvement in quality this will be my last. If I hadn't needed to use this the night I purchased it I would have returned it the very next day, but once it was used & the clear canister showing such I felt stuck. Honestly with the parts replaced my older model works good as new, I wish I had not splurged on this expensive, clunky, so-so vacuum. Very disappointed.

Had Purple big ball long time worked great. Part broke so we bought the Nickel one to replace it. Keeps plugging up loses suction. Called Dyson and the rep talked my nontechnical wife through disassembly and told her she has one just like it and jams all of the time. Tech says she dissasembles her all of the time to fix it because it plugs up if you use it more than a couple times without unjamming it.. Dyson said can do nothing to help. Best Buy manager says we had for a while which is too long and Best Buy will do nothing about it.. Customer service rep manger actually laughed at my wife. I went to a replacement part supply on line site and ordered replacement part for our old Purple. It now works as good as new. The Nickel is garbage and Dyson should recall it. We will research every consumer site next time before buying another Dyson The purple is great even though it is older this Nickel model stinks. I would buy a functioning Purple at a rummage sale before buying the Nickel new in the store. Dyson will post some auto response to this and ask you to contact them to hear about your experience. Go ahead we already called they are not going to deal with it and Best Buy is just the vendor so they won't either. We like Best Buy and we like Dyson Purple Ball but the Nickel is junk. You will see most of my reviews are positive to excellent but they earned this one.

Hi this is Jay with Dyson.

Dyson Cinetic is the only vacuum with strong suction and no filters to wash. This vacuum has the highest geometric average when carpet, hard floor and creviced hard floor pick-up results are combined. I understand you have talked with our customer support line, I have read your review and on behalf of our leadership team we would appreciate the opportunity to speak with you. Please email us with your contact details to AskDysonUS@Dyson.com. We will be in touch to help.

Could not believe the amount of dirt, dust & pet hair it removed from my carpets & bare floors but when I got to the bathroom I was disappointed with the tools it came with. The bristles on the tools are soft, I assume this is so they don’t damage anything, but they’re so soft they don’t pick up dust, hair & lint that has adhered itself in the bathroom because it’s mixed with humidity & hair spray. Sure I admit I purposely waited until it was pretty bad before I tried it out in the bathroom because it had such great suction elsewhere in the house. But the bathroom presents a unique situation caused by the specific environment in there. And the hair spray makes the job of removing the towel lint from the walls a challenge if you don’t keep up with it. The big ball makes the Dyson easy to manipulate, turn & push so I give that at thumbs up but the ball is so big it’s impossible to get very far under furniture. Of course the vacuum does have a wand but it’s length & the stiffness of the hose caused by the incredibly powerful suction makes it difficult to manipulate. It takes quite some strength to pull the hose to it’s length against the powerful suction of the vacuum. I don’t have a suggestion for how to improve this but I’m not an engineer. I suggest Dyson work on improving this because a flexible hose is a great feature that is unfortunately rendered quite useless unless you are far stronger than I am. Emptying the Dyson was easy, just press the button at the top of the dust canister and the bottom opens up but there was still a lot of dust that floated around in the process of emptying it so the process could be improved, IMO.

Dyson - Cinetic Big Ball Animal Bagless Upright Vacuum - Iron/Purple has been quite reliable for my wife and I and the demanding tasks we give it.We have 4 dogs and typically are vacuuming multiple times per week and this Dyson has held up to it's hefty price tag. We used to utilize an older Dyson Animal that was refurbished and just didn't work the same as it once did, so we were in the market for a new vacuum. Let's face it...Dyson created products that are expensive, especially in comparison to most of the competitors out there; but the quality maintains. We have tried various models of Hoovers, Sharks and Bissel vacuums (albeit much more cost efficient) but they did not perform nearly as well as our Dyson Cincetic. The suction on the Dyson and the Hoovers, Bissel and Shark vacuums is NIGHT AND DAY difference. The Dyson has been so powerful at times it's ripped loose strains of my carpet right out of the floor! NOTE - I have had 1 problem with the Dyson Cincetic and that is when I was vacuuming up our Christmas tree pine needles and one of the twigs became clogged in the tube. I had to disassemble most of the bottom portion of the vacuum to remove the clog (which effected the suction in a big way). After I removed the twig, it was smooth sailing and up to the high powered suction again. The disassembly of the vacuum was painless and quite quick (Dyson color codes parts on the vacuum red that can be removed for cleaning or replacement). PRICE - This is the sole reason this vacuum received 4 stars, it's hefty price tag. Dyson is local to me (Illinois, Chicago) which is a part of the reason I purchased it but they also stand by their products and will warranty Dyson products that you've purchased brand new without question.

I wouldn't purchase this particular Dyson vacuum again. 1st I got it home vacuumed my carpet and it just didn't seem to do as well as I'd expected, so I got my 5 year old (other brand# bagless vacuum out and it picked up what the Dyson Animal plus Allergy didn't. The next issue I had was the hose #when using the attachments# would collapse at the base cutting off air flow and rendering the attachment useless. And finally it is extremely difficult to maneuver on hard floor surfaces, great maneuverability on carpet, but it takes a lot of effort to turn it on a hard surface. I contacted Dyson because I thought they had a 30 day satisfaction guarantee only to find out that that only applies if you purchase it from Dyson Direct. I was told to take it to a service center and after 3 days of emailing Dyson #over Labor Day weekend) Tuesday I was able to talk to someone over the phone and was told "As you know not every vacuum is suited to every home, obviously this vacuum is not for your home and this particular vacuum doesn't have the suction power as some of our other models but it does have the new scientific technology so that you never have to clean filters" Well duh? that's because it doesn't pick up as much! My home is carpet and vinyl flooring so if a vacuum isn't suited to that I'm not sure that it's suited to any home. Thankfully Best Buy is allowing me to return this vacuum. My advice to you is don't buy a Dyson or buy a different model. By The way if a vacuum isn't suited to a particular home shouldn't it state that on the box so you don't spend over $600 including tax on it?

Hi there. Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry to hear that you are not satisified with your purchase. Our Cinetic Big Ball Animal + Allergy All other vacuums will lose suction over time: bags will need changing and filters will require washing or replacing. Dyson Cinetic Big Ball requires neither of these, and with our most advanced cyclones yet, it delivers no loss of suction.
All bagless vacuums have filters which need to be washed regularly or replaced. Bagless vacuums use cyclone technology to separate dirt and dust from the air. But inefficient cyclones allow dust to pass right through the system and onto the filter. These filters clog and cause the vacuum to lose suction over time. Many vacuums lose suction with less than 1 years’ worth of dust. Some vacuums even lose suction before the first bin full of dust but even with maintenance of their filters, they all lose suction over time.

I understand that you are considering returning the machine. However, please consider contacting us directly at: askdysonus@dyson.com. We are happy to provide additional support.

      Best wishes,

Worst Vacuum I Have Ever Owned

This is my second Dyson. I decided to purchase this model because I had recently added a pet to the family. The motor on this unit is definitely strong however the beater bar intake design is the entire problem. Constantly the hose just past the beater bar would become clogged with hair and debris never making it into the waste canister. I would have to literally every two minutes of vacuuming take the beater bar assembly off, clean it out and resume vacuuming. At first I thought maybe my carpets are really dirty and this problem will go away with time. So I vacuumed daily for an entire week, same issue constantly arising. So after a week of vacuuming I decided to get out my old Dyson DC24 (8 years old) expecting it to not pick up anything because I had cleaned the carpet seven times with the Cinetic. Much to my horror the DC24 managed to get a full canister out of each and every room. In short the Cinetic sucked and in a bad way. An 8 year old Dyson should not outperform this vacuum. Even worse, somehow the Cinetic made my entire home dusty. Its as if it brought a bunch of dust to the surface and blew it around. I never managed to get a full canister of debris on this vacuum as the beater bar assembly would constantly be clogged. This is a design issue and perhaps mine is defective but this is absolutely the worse vacuum I have ever purchased. I returned my unit to Best Buy a week after purchase. I am going to try a Dyson canister vacuum next in hopes for better performance.

Hi there, this is Krystal with Dyson. Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I am sorry to hear of the difficulties with the Dyson Cinetic Big Ball Animal + Allergy. What you've described is certainly not the way the vacuum is intended to perform. The Cinetic have less suction power due to the new technology it uses and has a whole HEPA filtration system that does not need to be continuously maintained as our other models require. So it is more efficient as the cyclone tips oscillate at up to 5,000 Hz, separating the microscopic dust that clogs all other vacuums. Therefore, more dust/dirt ends up in the bin eliminating the need for a filter.

We would value the opportunity to address your concerns in more detail and want to ensure your vacuum is working as intended. Please contact us at askdysonUS@dyson.com with your serial number, description of issue or concern and your contact information and we will be happy to help.

Got his Dyson after a lot of research. We have a couple of dogs that shed as normal pets do. Keeping the hair off the floors and carpets is a big job in itself. Before you buy, the price of this vacuum is pretty high compared to others in the market. For me I don't make my buying decisions based on price alone but value for money. If an appliance doesn't do it's job, it is worthless even if it is free is what I believe in. Anyway we bit the bullet and bought this one. I would say as far as cleaning and suction is concerned, it is spot on. I have never seen that kind of results with anything else, dog hair or dust it does a great job. Why I took a star off is cos of it's design. First and foremost if I pay that kind of money, I accept the build quality to be stellar with tight tolerances. That is not the case, it looks like an average plastic build which is pretty heavy and cumbersome when using it. Difficult to maneuver it around the corners with its big ball. It is not a good design ergonomically. Fatigue sets in if you are using it for a long time. Anyway, more than that the latch to take the canister off for emptying has it's own quirk. If you press it by accident as you are taking the canister off to empty, it will release all the dirt there itself. So be careful how you hold it when you are emptying it. Putting the extension tube on and hose back in place also is not very easy, so you need to get used to it. So it is the best when it comes to suction but not so good in the design aspect. So there is a scope for design improvement. Been using it for more than 1.5 years and happy with it overall.

Overall this was a good purchase, but it has a few downsides. I previously had the animal compact version and upgraded to this machine. I couldn't believe how much stuff got picked up after the first time I used it. In comparison, I think it traps a lot more pet hair, human hair, dirt and dust. I have long hair and it seems to do a great job at picking it up from the bathroom floor. I will say however, that I feel like this machine catches more of my hair in the floor beater bar than in the canister - this makes cleaning the floor beater bar a bit of a priority. The pros - 1) it has a really long cord and hose which makes cleaning an open floor layout a breeze, 2) emptying the canister seems to be easier on this machine (I feel like it’s easier to prevent dust from going everywhere); and 3) it comes with all of the allergy tools. My one big complaint is the machine's weight. I'm a small woman (about 5'2) and carrying this vacuum up and down my stairs has been difficult. I wouldn't recommend this product if you have stairs and are unable to carry the machine without injuring yourself. Also, I find the add-on allergy tools don't maintain the same level of suction. I use one of the tools a ton to get pet hair off of things, but I feel like the suction power isn't carried through when you are using all of the tools, the reach tool is one in particular that I don't feel has a ton of power. I also hate the bag the tools came in - it’s a great idea to include a bag, but really Dyson for $800 you couldn't have put a zipper on the bag? You’ll find that as you go from room to room with tools in hand that they will fall out of the bag if you aren't careful. I will concede that the bag is deep, but I feel like a zipper would have made the bag a lot better and would make storing all the tools easier at the end of the day. I ended up going to a craft store and putting my own zipper on the bag.

    Thoroughly disappointed in this vacuum

We purchased this Dyson Ball + Animal vacuum in March. Upon opening the product, it was evident that every thing about the product, other than the motor, was extremely cheap quality. The parts are thin, lightweight plastic and it raised immediate doubts about the durability. The vacuum also feels very flimsy to maneuver and easily slips out of the upright locked position when transporting it throughout the house when your not vacuuming. Unfortunately, I was impressed with the suction power during the first use and therefore chose to keep the product, despite these reservations. Since, the product has lost suction despite regular upkeep to remove hair from the brush-roll. The seals with the canister are also very cheaply/poorly designed and therefore dust particles, including occasional use of carpet fresh, routinely leak out and end up on outside of the canister and the elsewhere on the vacuum. I can't image that this would meet HEPA standards anymore, which is irritating as someone with nasal allergies. Because of the poor product experience, I find myself less motivated to vacuum, which leads to more wear and tear on the carpet. It's extremely disappointing that our Shark Rocket handheld (9.5" width) is the best vacuum in the house. We will not be purchasing another Dyson any time soon. Our last vacuum was the Shark Rotator Pro, which we had for 2 years. It was considerably less expensive and proved to be a more effective vacuum. As a comparison for others considering this product, we live in a newer 2-story home with longer carpet. There are 4 people and one dog in the family.

      Hello there,

This is Dan with Dyson. This is most disappointing to hear that you've had this experience. Dyson machines are made from polycarbonate ABS – the same material used in riot shields and crash helmets. They are tough: we subject them to 50,000 hours of testing and 550 individual tests – all to ensure that they can withstand a lifetime’s hard use. We put them through the paces prior to offering them for sale to our valued consumers.

If suction has become reduced, this is most likely the result of a blockage along the line that will not be found in the brushbar. A Dyson helpline expert would be happy to offer some checkpoints and ensure the machine is receiving optimal airflow. We also advise against picking up fine powders with our machines as it has the potential to clog the cyclone and filters. You may be interested to know we've developed Dyson Zorb carpet cleaning powder specifically for Dyson's.

We'd like to hear more about your experience and ensure your machine is performing as designed. Please feel free to email AskDysonUS@Dyson.com with your contact information and we're keen to discuss further.

      Best wishes,

Waited 6 years to be able to stomach the price of one of these. Our Kenmore elite finally died and with the new scraped tile we put throughout the house with no carpet it was time to look at something new. I read through tons of reviews on here on multiple models and really wanted something that would work on these floors. I looked at ease of use, functionability, trends on issues, price, and most of all repairs. I wanted something that had an adjustable head, with great suction, and tool attachments for around the house and cars. The vacuum went on sale and decided to take the plunge. I have to say I am very pleased with the purchase. With two big dogs and a lot of hair gathering in those special spots in the house, this vacuum has been awesome. The adjustable head has a wide coverage area and has no problem picking up the hair, dirt, dust on the tiled floor. The suction is very good and does maintain throughout use of the vacuum head or while using the hose and attachments. The attachments that come with this vacuum are spot on with what they are designed for. Dyson even throws in a bag that is great for storing all of them! Not a big deal but this vacuum package has a lot of attachments that are included. The raising and lowering of the vacuum from standing to use does make you think it will break each time but haven't had issues as of yet. While using the hose and stretching out the nice distance it offers hasn't been an issue with it falling over. The cylinder/allergy filter is great and while I have long haired dogs I actually did have to reach in there to pull some hair out, no biggie I just washed my hands. The cord has great distance to minimize moving the plug around. My wife was the biggest skeptic with purchasing this but after using the vacuum she is sold on it and loves everything about it. Overall, great vacuum so far and we are very pleased with the purchase.

I LOVE the suction of this vacuum. It makes my carpets look amazing and I have a 200lb Saint Bernard who sheds like crazy! In the suction department - this vacuum is hands-down the BEST... BUT There are some things I hate about this vacuum that I feel should be addressed, since it is a nearly $600 piece of equipment... 1. The hose is terribly designed. Using it to get under things (or over things - fan blades) is a pain because of the 3-foot part that is not flexible- you have to be so far away from the upright part in order to prevent the hose from kinking. I'm scared it's going to bust open one of these times. It just doesn't make sense to me why it was designed that way... 2. It squeaks like crazy. I think it's the ball, but I can't really tell exactly WHAT is causing the squeaking. It's done it since the first time I used it. Very annoying. 3. The tank - every time I empty the tank, it's such a messy hassle. By just pushing the button to open the door to the tank, stuff stays lodged in there (and no, I'm not filling it more than the max line) - most times I have to completely take the outer tank off to get everything out.... which just doesn't make much sense. For a vacuum of this cost, I just think it could have been designed more practically and efficiently. It takes me twice the amount of time to vacuum with this thing because of these design flaws. *BUT I'm ok with it because my carpet looks great! (Even though I'm kind of cranky I spent so much on a vacuum that has so many design issues.... I'd still recommend Dyson for the suction alone, but I'd stick with the cheaper model and hope in years to come they fix these things and make them WORTH the money you spend.)

I have owned 3 Dyson uprights starting years ago with our DC 14 Animal (which still works great). I was eager to use Dyson's Cinetic technology in my home because it presents many challenges do to our many pets we share our home with. Amazon parrot, Citron Cockatoo, African Grey, one chinchilla, four cats, and two Australian Shepherds. You might say I have the ultimate testing ground, lol. This vacuum astetically is a work of art, has adequate suction, excellent tool supply, manuvability is ok (large ball limitability), excellent brush agitation & will handle pretty much anything I wanted removed from my floors. Most would be satisfied with this vacuum new. The reason I did not keep this model is because I had some long term ownership concerns about the filterless design ( at this point in time). Without any filters, the extremely fine particles have to go somewhere and all avenues lead to the origin of suction (the motor), I'd compare it to the likes of buying a computer without any firewall protection. Because of this, I returned the unit to Best Buy and purchased Dyson's Ball Animal Two (this vacuum has two lifetime filters). This vacuum (in my opinion) is the pinnacle of the Dyson line. The suction and manuvability (small ball) of this vacuum is unrivaled in the bagless world at this time....period. It is quite simply an AMAZING machine. If your not happy with this you might as well hire a cleaning person! Bottom line, do your homework before buying, and then buy the Dyson that your comfortable with, After all, Dyson machines still rule the bagless world. Hope this is helpful, Sincerely, Dave

Hi there, this is Krystal with Dyson. Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. With the new Cinetic technology, the pre-filter is not needed. It uses and has a whole HEPA filtration system that does not need to be continuously maintained as our other models require. So it is more efficient as the cyclone tips oscillate at up to 5,000 Hz, separating the microscopic dust that clogs all other vacuums. Therefore, more dust/dirt ends up in the bin eliminating the need for a filter.

We understand that you may have already returned the vacuum. However, we would value the opportunity to learn more about your experience. Please contact us at askdysonUS@dyson.com with your serial number, description of issue or concern and your contact information and we will be happy to help.

      Best Wishes,
      Krystal

I am truly impressed with the cleaning power this vacuum has. As soon as I received the vacuum I assembled it and put it to work. 1. Assembly only takes a few minutes. The directions were easy to follow--No Tools Required!! 2. I have used the vacuum on carpet and on hardwood. The self adjusting vacuum head makes any floor type a breeze to clean. The vacuum also has an option to turn off the agitator which is great for cleaning hard floors. Another feature that I like is the housing that holds the agitator is clear, so you can see the dirt and debris as the vacuum sucks it up. 3. I was amazed at how much dirt and debris was in the canister after just having vacuumed the floor---I wanted to see how good this vacuum really was and I was impressed with the results.--The suction and cleaning power is great!! 4. The big ball technology makes the vacuum easy to maneuver and the design of the agitator head also allows you to clean in some tighter spaces that my old vacuum couldn't reach. 5. Not having to clean the filters is another plus. I would definitely recommend this vacuum to a friend. The technology and cleaning power makes the vacuum a must have.

    Worst Dyson I have owned

I have owned about 4 or 5 Dyson's now. They have all worked well except this one. The only reason I buy new ones is because thats what I do. I like the latest and greatest. I'm a technology expert so I'm not your average Joe. I bought this one when it was first released by Best buy. First this thing does not pick up well. I can vacuum the same area 10 times and there will still be stuff to pick up. I dont thinks its the suction, I thinks its the bottom cleaner head and brush mechanism. its supposed to adjust to your carpet height or floor. But I don't thinks it puts enough pressure down to seal in the suction. I think the ball counter acts the presure in the front. I'm not a fan of the ball either. I hate that Dyson has gone that way all together. I wish they made a top regular style model still. Dyson expert: I have read your other responses to other people leaving low ratings. I understand the no filters to clean and never loses suction and the most advanced dyson ever. But none of that matters if it doesn't pick up properly from the cleaner head.

Dyson Big Ball Cinetic Animal + Allergy seals in suction across carpets and hard floors. The motorized brush bar with stiff nylon bristles drives deep into carpet to remove ground-in dirt. We would like to learn more about your experience and provide support. Please send us an email with your contact details to askdysonUS@dyson.com and we will be in touch. So we just turned our former vacuum into a car vacuum (sebo brand vacuum) cause I felt it wasn't sucking or agitating the carpet enough after four years of use. Always liked the look and supposed technology behind it... Wish I bought it sooner! The day I first turned it on, I could immediately see a difference in how the carpet was always agitated and looked brushed. Then when I looked into the basket I was disgusted at all the gray particles, that my sebo may have left behind, granted I don't vacuum everyday. So power is awesome! Few gripes though: The wand in concept is great, but it's somewhat awkward when you try to use. The red handle is so long that it's not very ergonomic feeling. When you Lock it in upright, the wand automatically starts up and your hand feels the power of the suction. It rolls nice, but does have some bulk to it when going around corners, makes me only wish I went with the cinetic animal vacuum canister vs upright Cleaning the bin is easy but if the fur/lint/dirt gets trapped, you have to clean the basket when emptying, it sucks, no brush Worst part emptying the basket stinks! It's not like a hepa bag, just cap and trash, this one is a process cause you don't have a dedicated trash can for this, at least we don't so it's get a bag large enough to capture the debris and dump it outside or if your going to dump in kitchen trash dump it, place a wet cloth or paper towel over it (if your can is not full yet) so that dust doesn't fly up or lastly create a dedicated vacuum garbage can

    Longevity in a dry climate?

This is our 3rd Dyson and it replaces a 65 multi floor unit. We vacuumed an area rug with the 65 and immediately went over it again with the new big ball. I was amazed at the additional dirt and fine dog hair that was lifted. It truly provides an impressive clean. So why only 3 stars? Well upon witnessing the units abilities we decided to get the articulating attachment for hard surface floors at our local authorized Dyson store. Upon entering the store we over heard a customer and Dyson employee discussing the failure and subsequent repair of the same big ball model. Apparently the motor had failed and was replaced under warranty. This didn't necessarily bothers us but the employees comment that this model was not suited for our climate did. The dry climate we have in our state apparently affects the operation of the unit causing premature failiure of the motor. We calculated the unit that was repaired had failed in under a year as the model was introduced in JAN of '15. (To the best of my knowledge). My wife questioned the employee further after he was done with the mentioned repair customer and he confirmed the issue. He said the big ball needs a climate with moisture to help with fine dirt and suggested after our warranty expires we should invest in the the animal unit with filters. Needless to say we're not as enthusiastic about our purchase and the prospect of time spent getting warranty repairs and a 5 year life cycle. I might add there were no reviews I found on any website that mentioned this design issue. Buyer beware.

    Worth the expense

I bit the bullet and bought the Dyson when I saw it on sale and have no regrets so far. We have a long haired dog and a short haired cat that manage to produce more hair between them on a daily basis than an 80's metal band on Propecia. Thankfully, the carpet is dog colored (beige) otherwise we'd be unable to go to work due to all the vacuuming we'd have to be doing. I guess because you SEE what you have vacuumed up the point is driven home - but it is very encouraging to see how much this thing sucks (and I mean that in the best possible way :-)). On the con side, it is a hefty bugger so when using it try not to push and pull, but follow it with a couple of steps. I also understand why they're not, but I miss the accessories being attached to the actual unit like my old canister vac. I have to remember to get the storage bag when I am vacuuming and bring it into each room, but I guess that qualifies as nit-picking. (This, and the cost is the reason this doesn't get a full five stars). What remains to be seen is how long it lasts - It's about two months old at this point. I'll post a follow up in about 15 years - watch this space. All in all, if you have the extra dough to spring for this - I would say do it. Wait for a sale if you can.
