This is my first time using any Dyson product. I've read that they are good, but sometimes very pricey. But, when it comes to the V10, I now understand why people say they are such great vacuums. The V10 Animal comes with a nice assortment of accessories. I think that this model is perfect and there is really no need for the V10 Absolute unless you want two or three more attachments. Power and suction are great. It is true that you really do not need a corded vacuum anymore. Dyson did a great job engineering the vacuum to make it lighter and powerful then the V8. Some things that I wish were more polished are the way to empty the dustbin. It just seems a bit flimsy when you press down on the red "trigger" to open the bin. It almost feels like the whole bin is going to fly off. Also something that I do not like is the power trigger. On the Dyson, you always have to hold down the trigger to clean. It starts to fatigue my finger. Maybe I'm just spoiled with other vacuums and their power switch. The new V10 Animal is a wonderful machine. Beautiful, powerful, and portable. I feel confident that this vacuum will last me for the next few years (and if not, theres a two year warranty).

This vacuum cleaner has great suction power, but not a full 60 mins per charge as stated by the manufacturer. It can only do roughly 1000 sq. ft. per charge. I have a house over 3500 sq. ft. and it takes about 2 days with the charging time. It also has a hair pin trigger because of poor placement, so be ready for a startle every now and then. I like low dB sound, but pets will either run from it or chase after it. The attachments that come with it work well, but for the money you should get more. For example the product does not come with a hardwood floor attachment (I'm not sure there is one for this model), but for $600 you would think so. The machine is very lightweight and agile, so even children can use it. The storage canister is a bit small and cumbersome to open. My advice to you is physically compare and read the reviews before buying this machine.

Hello there, this is Kelly with Dyson. Thank you for taking the time to share your review of the Dyson Cyclone V10 Animal cordless vacuum. I'm happy to hear that you're pleased with the suction and performance of this machine, thus far in your use.

Please keep in mind that your machine will offer three suction modes for use with cleaning around your home. Along with three different suction modes, you will also have a suction control slider at the cleaner head for use with cleaning across both hard floors and carpet. As a result, we would not expect you to require the MAX suction setting, as it is only intended for use with tough cleaning jobs and also provides the least amount of run time, while providing additional power for the job. In suction setting 2 Dyson Cyclone V10 will provide up to 20 minutes of run time with a motorized cleaner head or up to 30 minutes when used in suction setting 1. Without the motorized cleaner head, Dyson Cyclone V10 will provide up to 60 minutes of run time on a full charge, making it our longest running cordless model to date.

We'd value the opportunity to learn more about your experience with your machine to help ensure that you are able to enjoy your machine as intended. Please consider emailing us directly at askdysonUS@dyson.com. We look forward to hearing from you.

      Best wishes,
      Kelly

We bought this vacuum on sale and ended up paying a little over half of what it retails for. If you can get passed the sticker price, this vacuum is great. We live in a two story home with the bottom floor being all wood and tile. The upper floor mostly carpet and can get through all of it if I use the lowest setting for downstairs and medium for the upstairs carpets. Very surprised that I can get upstairs done. It does a great job of picking up the dog hair. It is light and easy to use. The only problem is the trigger location which most reviews point out. But it's not a deal breaker. Love not having to move the plug as I go room to room. If you can find it on sale and you are on the fence about the Dyson v10 just buy it. Dyson also was running a 90 day money back guarantee so I had to try it and I am glad we did. Hope this helps!

Great Suction...Could Be Better in Other Areas

The vacuum looks great. It is lightweight, making it easy to carry up/down stairs. It does a great job of vacuuming. It has the most powerful suction that I have ever seen in a cordless vacuum. Since it is cordless, it is very versatile to use on the stairs, and in your car. The dirt canister is a nice size and is easy to empty. The vacuum comes out of the package set to Maximum suction. When used on MAX, it only lasts about 10 minutes before losing its charge. For normal usage, I would recommend using the Regular suction setting where the battery lasts much longer. It does not have an ON/OFF switch. You have to pull and hold a trigger the entire time that you use the vacuum. If you are using the vacuum for a short period of time, it is not an issue, but your hand gets fatigued after holding the trigger for a long period of time when vacuuming a larger area. It will also be an issue if you suffer from arthritis, carpal tunnel, or other hand issues. The head used to vacuum floors is a little narrow, so it takes some time to vacuum large areas. Also, the vacuum (with the floor head attached) will not stand up on its own. You must prop it up against something or lay it in the floor. It is the same way with charging the vacuum. If you do not use the included mounting bracket, you must prop it up against something or lay it in the floor to charge it. The mounting bracket attaches to the wall and the vacuum hangs off of the bracket. When the vacuum is hanging on the bracket, it sticks from the wall several inches. So, this makes it limited on where you can mount the bracket and it still look nice in your home. I chose to mount mine in the garage. The vacuum comes with several tool attachments, which is nice, but it would have been great if there was a storage bag that was included for the attachments that could be hung off of the wall mounting bracket. So, it is a little inconvenient to find another spot to store the extra tool attachments. Overall, the vacuum is OK. With just a few of the tweaks mentioned above, it would be great. It is lightweight, convenient, and has great suction. It is good for small vacuuming jobs. I mainly plan to use it to vacuum stairs, and our cars. But, I will continue using our other vacuum for the rest of the house.

Hi there, this is Krystal with Dyson. Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I am pleased to hear that you overall you are satisfied with the new Dyson Cyclone V10.

The Dyson range of cordless vacuum cleaners has a battery-enhancing trigger. Battery power is only on when the trigger is pushed – this means that the battery is only used for cleaning, and is not wasted when moving from room to room, or moving around obstacles.

A Dyson tool bag can also be purchased separately to safely store the extra attachments.

We would value the opportunity to address any questions or concerns in more detail. Please contact us at askdysonUS@dyson.com with your serial number, description of issue or concern and your contact information and we will be happy to help.

      Best Wishes,

You simply will not believe the suction it has

I love stick vacs, but so many times the suction is just too anemic to pick anything up. I've owned and used Dyson vacuums and the one thing that's consistent with all of them is the amazing suction that they generate. The V10 is certainly no exception. First off, it's battery operated. This can make or break some vacuums really fast. I found the charge life to be adequate for running the vacuum at full power and getting to every room I needed to get to before it lost all power. It's quite light even with the floor beater bar attachment installed. The many tools can be interchanged quickly, and they are all well designed for a variety of tasks. The suction is absolutely incredible, especially for a battery powered vacuum this size. There are three levels of power so that you can actually control the amount of suction you need. At first I thought this was a bit of a gimmick because comparable vacuums don't exactly have power to spare. This switch however, does come in handy when going from hard floors, to carpets, to using a different attachment. When on the highest setting, the beater bar literally sucks itself onto the floor so firmly, it gets difficult to push. It has more suction than I can believe, and way more than any other stick vac I've ever used. Cleaning the beater bar is pretty quick and it actually has a way to remove the bar easily for removing any strings or long hair. The dirt cup empties very quickly and does a good job of removing all debris without digging around with your fingers to pull it out. There were a couple of points I wasn't crazy about however. The first is, you need to keep the trigger depressed the entire time you're using it. It does not click "on" and then click "off". This gets a little tedious and can become hard on the trigger finger. It also makes it difficult to switch hands without it turning off in the process. The second point is, I wish the battery itself was removable. That way I could hang the V10 anywhere I chose and charge the battery separately. As it's, you need to put the vacuum in the wall mounted charging station to charge it. This would be a nice feature if everyone had closets with outlets inside, or an area such as a mud room that was convenient to hang it in. I don't have either one, so finding a good place to hang it that has power and is also out of sight is tricky. Both cons aside, this is far and away the best stick vac I've owned or used. The suction was way stronger than I imagined it would be and it's light weight makes it easy to use in most of the places you would want to. It's certainly not inexpensive, but it does go beyond my expectations for a vacuum in this class.
