It blows around existing air. If that air happens to be warm, it will blow warm air on you.

Posted .Hi Sharon, this is Kelly with Dyson. We're sorry that you've been disappointed thus far in your use, with the Dyson DP04 Pure Cool Air purifier. Dyson Pure Cool DP04 air purifiers, will feature two airflow modes, a fan mode and a backward airflow mode for cooling and purifying both in winter and summer. These two modes, along with the airflow setting ranging from 1 - 10, and an adjustable oscillation angle from 45 degrees to 350 degrees, helps project purified air around the whole room.
Our Purifiers & fans do not have Freon, so they are not an air conditioner, but it does work better than standard fans. Dyson fans use Air Multiplier technology to create a powerful stream of uninterrupted airflow. Air is accelerated through an annular aperture, creating a high-velocity jet of air. This passes over an air foil-shaped ramp, channeling its direction and creating areas of low pressure behind and around the fan. The change in pressure forces surrounding air to be drawn into the airflow, resulting in a powerful stream of smooth cooling air.

I did a lot of research and used others before this one. But having 4 large dogs it seems to struggle with all the hair and dust.

Great purifier

It does a great job in removing odors even when you are cooking . The only thing I don’t like is the fan is loud when it is on high , but it is okay . I would of gave it a five if it wasn’t for that .
