Dyson continues to refine its cordless vacuums, with this Gen5detect model being its most powerful yet with 262AW (air watts) of suction on boost mode compared to the V11 185AW at boost I use now. Run time has also been extended to 70 minutes in Eco mode compared to 60 for the V11. The weight is up to 7.72 lbs. compared to 6.61 lbs. for V11. The bin capacity is the same at .2 gallons. Motorbar heads are the same size as well with 4.5 hr. charging time being equal. This model also comes with a fluffy optic head cleaner for hard floors that utilizes a green light that illuminates dirt on the floor – as well as any tile or wood imperfections. It works very well but is best viewed in a slightly dark room or dark floors. Also new is a dusting/crevice tool built into the vacuuming tube. The vacuum top shows run-time as well as a graph showing size of particles that have been vacuumed. This model is stated to now remove 99.9% of dirt down to .1 micron. And the biggest improvement – to my mind – is they have, finally, added a power button – no more having to hold a trigger!!!! In my real world use I was able to clean my 3100 sq ft house (30% carpet using motorbar and 70% tile/wood using optic cleaner) using eco mode with 10 minutes remaining – and I did not rush. I got 45 minutes using medium mode (same mix as eco) and 20 minutes on boost using crevice tool. While I have no real-world numbers as far as AW comparisons – this model in eco mode seems to have more suction than V11 in auto mode. It certainly has more running time and is definitely quieter. Using the optic head is great. But the downside is you can visually see that the floor gets much dirtier, much faster than one would think. As such vacuuming habits may need to be adjusted. The particle graph is fine but is more like keeping track of a video game score for me - rather than being helpful. Hair screw tool is great for cushions, stairs, etc. The built in crevice tool is nice as you don’t have to change heads or carry around other parts. But if you remove the built in crevice tool (to try to save a little weight) you cannot attach the hard tube – can only attach the combination tool. The combination tool works well enough for use on ceilings, curtains etc. - places built in tool can’t reach or is too small. Filter and optic head are both washable. 2-year warranty. This unit is pretty much better in every way than prior models - but it still has some old and new issues. The weight gets more evident the longer you use the vacuum. Luckily, it’s easy to switch from hand to hand now that it has a power button. The weight also makes it extremely cumbersome to use in a car, etc. In my opinion there needs to be a flexible hose included to attach tools to allowing for much easier use – kind of like the old canister vacuums had. Still no light on the motorbar. Unit still cannot stand by itself – it must be leaned against something, laid down flat or “parked” in the wall dok. Parts are not interchangeable to other V models as I can do between V10 & V11. Tube power connections are different leading down to the head. Also, battery size is longer than V11 and has a different connector fitting into the vacuum as well as a different power connection into battery. As such cannot cross use batteries and now must have 2 chargers set up. Maybe all 5detect model parts are interchangeable? In boost mode, if using crevice or combination tool attached directly to vacuum head - there is so much air exiting the vacuum that smaller bits get blown around making it hard to vacuum them up. This unit does not have the trademark “whirl” sound when it is turned off, which I have to say I miss. Overall, another step forward for Dyson that is more powerful and quieter than any prior model - but with that power comes weight. Also, to move forward I guess they had to break with prior models’ interchangeability, which is disappointing. I wonder too at what point will size/weight be too much as this model is right on the edge for me. Having been able to test competitors’ cordless models I have to say that for me Dyson is the benchmark. Also having used prior Dyson models I can attest to the fact they function well in the long term. So, I do recommend this model - especially for someone new to their line. But if you currently have a working Dyson cordless vacuum (especially one with removable battery) I would suggest waiting as these older units are pretty great and lighter too.

This is the second Dyson vacuum I owned. The first was one of their big, intimidating upright vacuums that took up tons of space but made up for it with raw sanitizing power. As such I was eager to try out the Gen5 Detect to see if it could serve as a worthy and more space-conscious replacement. And while I’ve been overall very impressed by its performance so far… I sadly have come to the conclusion that it may be more of a supplement. To start, I’d like to highlight that there are a lot of things that this vacuum did right. The first thing is that it comes with just about everything you might want or need standard, rather than requiring you to go out and look for expensive accessories after the fact. And as you’d expect it offers a ton of suction power and very good cleaning performance. The standout feature here is the “fuzzy optic” brush cleaning head meant for solid floors. A green light source scattered in a wide fan in front of the cleaning area causes every speck of dust, stray dog hair, or scuff on the floorboards to immediately fluoresce so that you can identify which areas need the most attention as you work, which is supplemented by a real time display on the back showing you how much material the vacuum is picking up as you go and how big most of it is. I’ll admit that I’m not sure getting a final tally of the number of dust particles removed is necessarily something I NEED to know, but it does add to the cool factor of the tech. Other features such as the hair-removal combs for the carpet cleaning head or the interesting corkscrew design for the upholstery head aren’t quite as flashy, but they do the job as well. And, as I’ve come to expect from Dyson, there’s a lot of attention shown to making the unit easy to maintain as well. Every time you open the dust bin a set of seals scrapes down the permanent metal filter, helping to clear it out and making sure none of the crud you pick up works its way back into the rest of the machine. The main HEPA filter twists off and can be cleaned in the sink. And everything with moving parts that need to be maintained is designed with toolless maintenance in mind, making it quick and easy clean up after you’re done or swap in spares when the time comes to replace parts. As for the actual user experience, I was very satisfied. The cleaning heads aren’t quite big enough that I’d want to be vacuuming an entire house with them, but they’re great for spot cleaning after a project or quickly touching up a bedroom. And the motor, despite its bulk, is shockingly quiet. By default it operates on an auto mode, where it adjusts the motor speed to how much dust it picks up. In the past I’ve found that these kinds of things are usually very hit or miss, with it often making more sense to just turn them up to full and leave them here, but I didn’t have any issues with the Dyson. It was responsive any time it found a big pile of dust or stubborn clump of dog hair, and apart from that it kept things dialed down so that I could enjoy watching the bin fill up without feeling bad about scaring the dog. Unfortunately, as much as I liked my time with the vacuum, I also kept running into little issues that did dampen my enthusiasm somewhat. The first one was encountered right as I opened the box and found popped seams on two of the cleaning heads. It wasn’t particularly hard to fix – a little pressure along the open seams was all that it took to get the plastic parts to seal back together and there haven’t been issues since – but it was very surprising to see that it made it through quality control on a product from a company that’s made a name for itself on paying attention to small details. I never ran into any similar issues with build quality again, but I did find a lot of things about the design that seemed a little… off. The weight distribution, for example. The motor and battery unit are very heavy, and the attachments do not do a good job of taking up any of that weight as you use them. This can make the thing a little ungainly to maneuver, which made getting into ceiling corners something of an adventure. Apparently with this model they also moved the power button from a trigger on the grip to a button placed on the rear of the unit. While I can see how a trigger wouldn’t feel great to use here, I don’t think that a button that more or less requires a second hand to reach is that much better. Often I do find myself needing both hands to steady the vacuum, particularly with the wand attached, so the presence of a thumb switch or some other mechanism to allow for one-handed operation would have gone a long way towards making it feel less awkward. I was also rather disappointed to see that there was little if any attention being paid to how you store the collection of accessories that come included. On my upright vacuum, everything either had a storage solution or was designed to retract into the body of the unit itself so that you never had to worry about losing something. Here, it feels like an afterthought. The charging stand has two sockets for accessories, but there simply isn’t enough space to make use of them. Just about everything is wide enough that if you insert it into one of the sockets, you block access to the other. The only exception to this is the main wand, which you’d normally probably be storing attached to the vacuum anyway. So everything ended up scattered around the living room for a day or so before being shoved unceremoniously into a bag stowed in the closet. Finally, the carpet cleaning brush was constantly getting bogged down when I tried to run it until I was able to dial in the right clearance using a stiff slider on the front of the cleaning head, where you basically had to flip the thing upside down to adjust it. If you live in a home with throw rugs or multiple thicknesses of carpet, it seems to me like this would be an annoying extra step to go through every time you wanted to move on to another room. Ultimately, I don’t think any of these issues are necessarily deal breakers. Most other vacuums I’ve used have had similar problems, if I’m being honest. But when you’re paying extra for a brand like Dyson, which is supposedly offering an elevated experience, it feels like it’s not unreasonable to expect more. It’s still a great option for small spaces or as a supplement to an upright or robot vacuums to do detail work, but in my opinion it’s still something of a lesser option to Dyson’s upright offerings.

For me, this was a different experience cleaning my home using this Dyson cordless vacuum. The regular features which are standard in other handheld vacuums are top notch and a few next-level features make this an outstanding one. I am amazed at how effectively the fluffy optic head works on a hard floor that is powered by a green light that illuminates the dirt and debris on the wooden floor or tiles. Even my kids were able to clean the floor perfectly with the help of this light which keep them encouraged to participate in daily chores. This looks like redefining the cordless vacuuming with the Gen5detect model that has a powerful suction on the boost mode. The console has a LED screen with no trigger to hold and allows one to easily switch between different modes like Eco, Boost, and Auto. The best part is the timer which displays the available battery time to the nearest second. The dust detection summary keeps track of the dust particles being vacuumed group by size. This cordless removes 99.9% of dirt down to 0.1 micron which I believe is the best. In general, cordless vacuums do not have long runtime as the batteries are pretty small but surprisingly this one has a total runtime of 70 minutes in Eco mode which is much more than what one would need to vacuum a decent size home. I was easily able to do so for my home of about 2500 sq feet. Not just the runtime, even the bin capacity is big enough at 0.2 gallons to support the battery life and stay focused on cleaning activities than keep on emptying the bin in between. Another great feature is its Digital Motorbar which intelligently adapts suction power to the different floors which is definitely an add-on. Not just this, it has hair removal vanes which automatically detangles hair from the brush as I vacuum which keeps the brush clean at all times and avoids the situation where the vacuum stops working due to a lot of hair being tangled on the roller. This can easily be converted to a handheld vacuum in just a click without wasting any time using the built-in crevice tool and I don’t have to change heads or carry around other parts. But this can be removed to make it slightly lighter if required. The filter and optic head are both washable and the entire set has a 2-year warranty. This has wall dock but I would have prefer it to stand without the wall dock but being slightly heavier this may not have been practically possible.

I am retiring an Electrolux canister vacuum because it is 18 years old and has lost some power. The cord no longer retracts, the plastic base is cracked or missing in places, the onboard tools no longer stay onboard, and the floor attachment head is secured on with electrical tape. I mention those things because it was a true champ in its day, and I was reluctant to buy another vacuum as evidenced by how long I kept it. However, I have been reading all the positive reviews for this Dyson and decided this will be my last one…hopefully making the investment worthwhile. So far, I do like the vacuum. It is easy to use, even though I have to go back and forth to the storage box where I store the attachments. The cordless feature is great but after unboxing it I realized I have no place to install the wall mount/charging cord where a plug is available. I have a small home, no closets, and an outdoor utility room with no wall space and no air conditioning/heat which would kill the electronics in a matter of weeks. So it charges on the bathroom floor and then goes in the storage box in my office area, in pieces. Just fyi, if mounted it would protrude from the wall about 12" so don’t expect it to be unobtrusive. The motor and main part of the vac is larger than I expected and a bit heavy but with a small home (1200 sq ft), I do not have to use it for lengthy periods. All tile floors with rugs make it straightforward and I have no stairs. The emptying of the bin is a breeze and I do like the fact that I do not have to purchase bags and throw out more trash, the dust and debris is returned outdoors from whence it came. I have a very large yard and no neighbors. I love/hate the green light on the front of the floor attachment. It shows all the dust and debris and hair and yuck! Even though I vacuum daily or every other day. So thanks for that! I also love the hair screw on the upholstery attachment. Wow! Cat hair be gone. I have a black cat who hairs seem to screw their way into my canvas covered sofa and were previously impossible to remove before this beauty of engineering. I do not like the fact that the vacuum does not reach far enough under my bed without banging on the frame. You cannot flatten it out because of the motor and handle. And the floor head doesn’t rotate enough to help. So that is a drawback from the Electrolux floor attachment which went all the way under my bed for those dust bunnies and escaped down feathers. So far this is only one of two flaws. The other is that the edge cleaning is not great. So you must stop detach the floor shaft and use the crevice cleaner for around the refrigerator and table legs, etc. My Electrolux had its problems but edge cleaning wasn’t one of them. So edge cleaning power needs some help not and not just a boost in motor power. I tried that to no avail. All in all, I would say this is a good buy. If the longevity is comparable to my previous champ.

OMG.... Now my kids love to vacuum... The Lazer light does it all.... The kids now think it's a video game... I will milk it as long as I can so I don't have to vacuum. Changing topics back to the vacuum.... Putting the vacuum together was super easy. Took all but 2 minutes. Charged it and was up and running. Total of 4 heads. 1 regular floor that has tangle prevention. 1 Small head that has tangle prevention. 1 Lazer mode. 1 Small upholstery. Emptying in the Gen 5 is much better than my first generation small Dyson ball floor vacuum. This gen 5 in 1 push of a button dumps out the dirt AND wipes clean the screen of hair and other stuff. Oh man much better than my first generation vacuum.. way more hygienic. The auto mode is nice .. it changes power up and down as needed. My favorite the laser light mode. I have 2 dogs and they shed like snow beasts... I already have a robot vacuum that vacuums 5 days a week on the weekdays but we still augment with our various other floor vacuums. Within a few minutes this vacuum already picked up a boat load of dust, hair, and dog fur. I have 3 people in my family that have long hair and this vacuum did not tangle like my other vacuums. Even my Dyson first gen ball vacuum gets all tangled and I need to deal with that frequently. So this is a plus with the new brushes. Battery life is pretty good.... My kid vacuumed 2 rooms and it still has about half charge left. The design is nice and slick as always Dyson is the gold star when it comes to appearance coupled with performance, functionality and use. The only thing to ding this vacuum on as with other vacuums of similar design is that it is top heavy and can cause fatigue over long use. If you have issues with this then you may want to consider a different model that is not top heavy that won't cause such fatigue. Other than that.... Great design, great look, great performance. I would highly recommend this product.

Great evolution to the Dyson product line

I've been purchasing Dyson's cordless vacuums since the V6 model so have owned several iterations throughout the years. This is a great step in the right direction for this product line for the main component itself as well as the included attachments (I've included some pictures of comparisons between the Gen5 Detect vs. V12 Detect). Now, I will acknowledge that, as someone who owns several iterations of Dyson vacuums, they've made just enough design changes that this model is not compatible with components/accessories of previous models. This vacuum does a great job with hardwood floors using the Fluffy Optic cleaner head. I also use the same head for low pile rubs and hasn't caused an issue. The green laser has been improved with a little more power to shine a little further than previous models, which is helpful for hardwood/tile floors, specifically. It's, of course, significantly more noticeable in dark spaces but it's sufficiently powerful enough to illuminate particulate matter - it's a fun way to incorporate the Tyndall Effect into a consumer product. I honestly thought this as just a gimmick but it's actually quite helpful. The Digital Motorbar cleaner head has been slightly redesigned - it still incorporates their spiraling across the rotating component to help reduce entanglement of hair but it also has noticeably shorter bristles to help with that as well. In addition (this is probably the biggest change) is that they've incorporated a comb-like component into the cleaner head to essentially remove hair from the bristles so it can get sucked up into the canister. For carpets, this head also has the option to get tighter suction with the red notch at the face of the head. It opens/closes some "gates" to allow for use on low and high pile carpets- when it's open it allows a bypass stream so that it's not completely (literally) vacuum sealed. Both attachments have a new bouncy tube at the pivot point of the neck to help maneuver the cleaner attachment as you use them. The primary wand (tube) itself has an integrated dusting and crevice tool. These were traditionally two separate attachments that you could swap out but now it's always available so you don't have to carry them around or go back to the dock. Minor, creative change. The third major attachment is the conical surface brush (I use them for car seats and couches, primarily). The angled design is supposedly intended to help with managing hair. The fourth is their standard combo tool that's sort of a wide-mouth nozzle and brush in one. Overall, the power is outstanding. Note that these new attachments now come with integrated ports to actually power the rotating tools (there are two metal pins at the docking point), which is probably how they get the brushes to rotate as well as they do. Previous models that didn't have this would jam up the attachments if the suction was too tight. MY GRIPES: - I'm glad they changed the on/off switch to be a button and not a trigger like they had in the past; however, this thing is heavy and I can see extended use of the vacuum could cause some strain on the wrist. - Because of all the motors and batteries being situated on the handheld component, this vacuum can get a little clunky to maneuver when, for example, vacuuming your couch. - There's not standing dock available to purchase for this vacuum and because of the minor changes to the power cord and attachment design, you can't reuse previous Dyson docks. Your only real option is to mount the (included) wall dock or buy a third party model. - The 70+ minute rating is when the vacuum is used on the "ECO" setting. That should be sufficient for large homes with hardwood floors but I would say, you'd get ~35% less battery time when using it at the standard setting and probably an additional 50% reduction when you go to intense setting. Overall, though, that should be more than sufficient for standard sized homes.

Dyson’s Best Vacuum Yet - With Some Asterisks

I've been using the Dyson V15 detect for the past couple of years and I've come to be depedent on the Laser Fluffy head for daily cleaning of my laminate floors. It has been a game-changer for picking up hard-to-see dust and crumbs, but it has never worked well in bright rooms. Dyson has mostly solved this problem in the new Gen5detect with the new Fluffy Optic head. Dyson has also implemented some other changes with the aim of increasing performance and usability, but not every change has worked out for the better. === UNBOXING AND OVERVIEW === - If you've owned any previous Dyson cordless model, you'll feel right at home here. The Gen5detect is extremely easy to unbox and set up, though be prepared to sift through a lot of cardboard and protective packaging to find everything in the box. - This particular model features a matte purple stainless steel-looking color on the wand. It looks great and is fingerprint resistant. - The Gen5detect comes with two cleaner heads (the Fluffy Optic and the High Torque) and only two standalone attachments (hair screw tool and combination tool). With this generation, Dyson has integrated the crevice tool into the wand of the vacuum, which means you no longer have to stop your cleaning routine to snap on this attachment. There is a new red button at the top of the wand. Press this button and pull the wand away, and you the vacuum will instantly transform into handheld mode with the crevice tool already attached. It's a neat feature that I'm amazed hadn't been thought of in previous generations. - Dyson recommends charging the vacuum for at least 4.5 hours or until 100% before first use, but vacuum was already at 70% charge out of the box. This is an entirely new battery design, so if you have previous Dyson stick vacuums with click-in batteries, you won't be able to use them with the Gen5detect. - The most noticeable change compared to previous generations is the removal of the trigger that powers on the vacuum. Now, there is a single red button at the top of the vacuum which powers it on and off. I'm not quite sure how I feel about this yet. I suppose it's great for longer cleaning sessions where your finger might get tired holding down the trigger. But I've also found that it's a bit of a pain when I just need to use the vacuum in quick bursts, such as cleaning up a small mess on the kitchen floor. I know I will adjust to having no trigger, but I've gotten so used to it on previous Dyson vacuums over the years that it still feels weird to hold one without a pressing down a trigger. === FLUFFY OPTIC HEAD PERFORMANCE === - The laser Fluffy head was my favorite part of the V15, and I love the new Fluffy Optic head even more. My main gripe with the old laser Fluffy head was that the green light was just too dim to be effective in bright rooms, so I often found myself turning off all the lights when vacuuming my hard floors. But no more - the Fluffy Optic head is significantly brighter than the old one - I’d say at least twice as bright, and it work great even with the lights on. - I live in an apartment that consists of 90% laminate flooring, and my floors have never felt so clean. Gone are the days of wondering if you've actually picked up all of the dust and crumbs on your hard floors. As you can see in the attached photo, there is a green laser on the right side of the Fluffy head that projects at a 90-degree angle. - The Fluffy head automatically adjusts the suction of the vacuum based on how much debris it detects on your floors. Compared to the V15 Detect and the old laser Fluffy head, the Gen5detect and Fluffy Optic head do a much better job of adjusting suction on the fly. It happens almost instantaneously, where as the V15 would take a few seconds to recognize larger amount of debris. - Unlike the previous laser Fluffy head, the laser on the Fluffy Optic head cannot be turned off. Not sure why you would ever want to turn it off anyways, but it’s worth noting === HIGH TORQUE CLEANER HEAD === - This cleaner head is mainly for use on rugs and carpet, though it can also be used on hard floors. Unlike previous versions of the torque drive cleaner head, this "High Torque" version has polycarbonate teeth which prevents hair from tangling around the bristles. - Once again, it works as advertised. I have vacuumed my bedroom carpet extensively with this cleaner head and have not noticed any hair wrapped around the bristles -- it all makes its way into the bin. - Like the Fluffy Optic head, the High Torque head will adjust the vacuum's suction based on floor type and carpet thickness to maximize battery life and cleaning performance. On both cleaner heads, you can choose Eco, Auto, or Boost modes via a button below the LCD screen. Boost mode obviously provides the best performance but there is a big hit to battery life. - Dyson says that the new motor in the Gen5detect has 262 air watts of suction versus the 230 air watts in the V15. But honestly, it’s not noticeable. I don’t doubt that there is some increased power here, but it’s not going to significantly change your experience compared to the V15. === OTHER FEATURES AND THOUGHTS === - Like the V15, the Gen5detect will show you on screen a measurement of debris and particles collected as you vacuum. The machine measures particles in sizes of 10, 60, 180, and 500 micrometers, which is roughly the equivalent of pollen, skin flakes, fine sand, and fleas, respectively. It’s a novel feature for a vacuum, but I haven’t found it to be extremely useful. If you want to see how much debris has been collected, just look in the bin. - Like previous Dyson vacuums, the Gen5detect is very easy to clean and maintain. The point-and-shoot design of the canister makes it very easy to empty debris directly into a trash can. The filter keeps dust out of the air and is easy to clean by just running it under a faucet. This model does feel a bit heavier than previous ones, so you’ll want to take care to not drop it while emptying over a trash can. - Dyson claims that the Gen5detect will provide "up to 70 minutes of run time," which is only 10 minutes more than the V15 Detect. It’s the best battery life of any Dyson stick vacuum, but I’m not sure it’s worth the premium price over the older models. I haven’t noticed a meaningful improvement in battery life, though it has never been an issue for me in an apartment. If you have a larger home, you still might want to pick up a spare click-in battery. - If you have a Floor Dok from a previous Dyson stick vacuum, the Gen5detect will not fit in it. The battery is too narrow, and the design of the charging plug/barrel has changed. Unfortunately, Dyson does not currently sell a Floor Dok for the Gen5detect in the United States. - Dyson has also changed the design of the wall dock. With previous models, it was very easy to disassemble and remove the wall dock from your wall. Now, Dyson has changed the design so that the front piece of the wall dock permanently locks onto the back piece that is drilled into you wall. Once you lock that front piece into place, there is no easy way to get it off without breaking the entire wall dock or ripping out your drywall. I wanted to move my wall dock to an adjacent wall after I first installed it, so I called Dyson and they could not give me any clear instructions on how to remove it. Watch the YouTube video called “How to set up the docking station station for your Dyson Gen5detect” and you’ll see what the problem is. === OVERALL === The Dyson Gen5detect is an excellent cordless vacuum, and it is by far Dyson’s best model yet. I was already in love with the V15 Detect, and some of the new features in the Gen5detect are excellent improvements. The new Fluffy Optic head is a massive improvement over the previous version. I think I will come to appreciate the lack of a trigger and the increased battery life. If you have a V15 model, there is no need to jump at this upgrade - maybe see if you can purchase the Fluffy Optic head separately if you’re looking for better performance on your hard floors. The increased battery life and suction are negligible for most people, and the head-scratching designs of the new charging plug and wall dock are a little disappointing. Regardless, the Gen5detect is the one to get if you want the best that Dyson has to offer, but it will be hard to ignore the price tag, especially compared to the still-available V15 Detect that offers most of the same features at a much better value.

The Dyson Gen5detect Cordless vacuum is a top-tier cleaning tool that combines powerful performance with innovative features. Its exceptional suction power effortlessly handles dirt, dust, and pet hair across various surfaces, while the built-in green laser highlights microscopic dust on hard floors for thorough cleaning. Designed for convenience, it is lightweight, easy to maneuver, and offers up to 70 minutes of runtime, making it ideal for larger spaces. The advanced filtration system captures 99.99% of particles as small as 0.1 microns, making it perfect for allergy sufferers or pet owners. I didnt like the auto suction feater at first but now i do. I think i just didnt trust it, but thankfully that amazing Green Light that brings to light even the smallest spec of dust, Proves time and time again that the vacuum does an amzing job. I have a 1000sqft home and thia vacuum while on auto mode is capable of vacuuming my home 2-3 times over again before it needs a charge. Which is a game changer. And dont get me started on the quick change feature from the floor head to the inline stick attachment ❤️❤️ i go from vacuuming my floors and carperts directly to cleaning my baseboards and moldings/hard to reach areas and back to floors with out having to stop. The direction dyson is headed with there innovation and quality is unmatched in my opinion. All useful, convenient features that work great. Good job. The Dyson Gen5 Detect is a huge leap foward from my beloved V10. Cant wait to see whats instore for the future.

I absolutely love my Dyson Gen 5 Detect vacuum! First and foremost, the suction power and cleaning efficacy are out of this world. It effortlessly tackles dirt, pet hair, and debris, leaving my floors spotless. I'm always amazed at how clean my home feels after using it. The Detect feature is a game-changer. It reveals hidden dirt that I didn't even know was there. It's like having a secret agent for dirt detection in my home. I can be confident that every nook and cranny is thoroughly cleaned. And let's talk about battery life and the form factor. The battery lasts a long time, so I can clean multiple rooms without worrying about recharging. Plus, the vacuum's sleek design and ease of use make cleaning a breeze. It's so enjoyable that I find myself looking forward to using it. Dyson Gen 5 Detect has truly made a positive difference in my cleaning routine, and I can't recommend it enough!

Vacuum was very powerful. The only reason I am not giving it 5 stars is because it is very noisy when vacuuming. But as far as picking up hair/dirt in a house with 2 dogs it did great. It was pretty cool to see the amounts of particles the vacuum was picking up and dispensing the dirt afterwards was very easy. Pretty comparable to the model prior though. Again just pretty noisy. Also love the attachments, wish it came with some kind of attachment to clean ceiling fans. But overall great vaccum with lots of power.

I have to admit that it is better than I was expecting for a cordless. We replaced a Dyson corded, wife wanting the cordless but I was afraid the power would be insufficient. It isn’t the same, but we believe good enough. Five things I would tell you. 1) Battery doesn’t get near 70 minutes for practical general use… I’d say 20-30 is typical (unless you are just running Eco mode on hard floors). 2) Wouldn’t call it heavy like some say, but it doesn’t sit on its own like most corded vacs so YOU have to keep it upright. 3) The particle meter on the top is a silly gimmick to us. 4) It is expensive, so yeah, you are paying for the brand on top of a pretty decent vac with easy to use attachments and cleaning. 5) If you’ve ever had a pet obsessed with a laser dot, you might empathize. The green light shows every little spec of dust or hair on a hard surface and it is easy to obsess about getting it all and keeping it gone. Good thing is you might vacuum your floor more than ever.

This is my favorite vacuum! I have 4 other Dyson vacuum’s, all different. While they all are great, this is my fav! The light that shows on the floor, shows every spec of dust. I have become obsessed with vacuuming because of it. The suction is so strong! I vacuumed with my old one first and then I vacuumed again with this one. It picked up everything the old one left behind! If you’re debating which to get, look no further. This is it!

Much better ease of use compared to V15. The fact that it has an On/Off button instead of a trigger, makes it much easier to use for extended periods of time, like when vacuuming larger surface areas. However, I don’t see any big difference in suction power between this and the V15. Great product from Dyson as usual. Peppery price, but worth every penny.

Overall great! The head you use for carpet/rug catches a little. It doesn't run over the rug smoothly. The hand held is a little heavy. Overall it performs really well and we really like it.

I recently purchased a Dyson vacuum cleaner, and my impressions are mostly positive. ☺️ Power and efficiency. The vacuum performs excellently on all types of surfaces, whether it’s carpets, tiles, or hardwood floors. The suction power is impressive, even at the lowest setting. Design and convenience. The ergonomics are outstanding: the vacuum is lightweight, maneuverable, and intuitive to use. Its sleek design makes it a pleasure to handle. Cordless

Just got the brand new Dyson Gen5detect and I am extremely satisfied with the overall performance of this vacuum so far. The new improved fluffy head provides much more visibility over the previous model (Dyson V15) which allows me to better visualize which areas to focus on cleaning. Furthermore, this vacuum also has a larger HEPA filter compared to the prior model and even claims to be able to vacuum particles at 0.1 microns which is virus territory. I would recommend this vacuum for those with allergies since the HEPA filtration system is among the best in class. Another major improvement over the previous generation is the switch from the trigger handle to an on/off button which improved overall ergonomics since there is no longer a need to constantly hold a trigger to maintain power while vacuuming. The only major downside I would say would be the price of this vacuum which places it in a premium category among cordless vacuums.

Super happy with this purchase - all of the attachments work perfect for every situation you can think of. The laser allows you the feeling of a great deep clean and I especially appreciate how the vacuum detects if it should amp up its power for a particular section.

I have pets but was tired of weak and heavy cleaners that lasted barely a year. This thing has more power and cleans better with less noise then any of my previous pet vacuums and it’s easy to carry up and downstairs to get the whole house!
