This light is packed full of features that any techy would love. Unboxing you will find it’s easy to assemble and has high build quality parts. I already had the Dyson app so set up was a breeze. The light dose look best at a desk but I liked it so much it’s on my night stand next to my bed. Easy to use controls on top of the unit. Color temperature from warn to cool. Brightness level and a power button. On the bottom side you will find three more features. The first button will automatically change the light level and brightness throughout the day according to your location. Than you have a Motion detector that will turn the light on when is sees motion. I liked this one when it was on my desk. Just walking in to the room and the light would come on. And the last as an auto button this will adjust to background light. Down towards the base You will find a USB-C charging port. Which comes in handy on my night stand for charging my phone over night. You can fully Control the light from the Dyson app which is also packed full of features and settings. This has been a fun light to play with.

Just unpacked and assembled the Dyson lightcycle. I was so looking forward to this light. First of all it is very unattractive and industrial. When assembled the vertical bar is very wobbly where it meets the base, even though I tightened the base screw plate as far as possible. Then the clincher.,...the led light did not work despite reading the instructions and pushing the appropriate buttons. You guessed it.....I returned the lamp the same day to Best Buy for a full refund with no problem. For $599 one should expect a much better product and experience. Buyer beware,

Like my title says, I didn’t think I could be “wowed” by a light, but here we are. Yes, there are some things to think about with this Dyson offering, but there is no doubt the Lightcycle is a quality product. Set-up is easy, directions are clear. App installed. I was up and running in a few minutes. As for the light itself, it is a nice weight (around 9lbs), and has a sturdy feel. It certainly has that Dyson touch and you can immediately tell things were well thought out. For all the “tech” in the light itself, which I love, I just can not get over how well the stand/arms “move.” There is a 3-axis system where you can move the one arm up/down, the other arm in/out and the entire thing can rotate 360 degrees. It is so fluid, you can more or less do it with a finger. It is truly wild. Light controls are thoughtfully placed and work well. Beyond function, I really like the industrial look of the lamp. Simple, stated, and it would fit in many settings. Finally, it comes with a nice long (10.5 ft) cord that helps when it comes to placement. I was initially unsure where I was going to place mine. Given some of the features, I was torn between bedside or on my desk. I chose my desk. I spend forever there, working, also staring at a screen…in poor light. There is no doubt I’ve been putting undue stress and strain on my eyes. I was looking for focused, and consistent light. I got that, and more. Honestly, there are so many features and options, it is somewhat of a lot to take in. I have been messing with my lighting over the past year or two, with voice control, scheduling…etc…all in an attempt to both make it easier as well as better for me. Yes, I failed with my desk set-up. The Lightcycle fixes that. It is actually designed to replicate the natural light where you live (yes, really, actual location) as it changes during the day. They call this Daylight Tracking. The idea is that being in light that changes color temperature and brightness alongside a typical daylight cycle is a healthier choice. That seems to make sense to me, and I like the idea, given how much I am indoors. There is also another mode that will simply adjust the light to match the light that is currently around you. Both modes work quite well, and while I prefer a warmer setting most of the time, I am going to stick with Daylight Tracking for a while. If these are not for you, you still maintain total control over all settings. You can control most of the main operations of the light on the light itself, but the app offers even more control. You can set favorite lighting modes as well as select from quite a few presets. Some are task orientated, like Study, Precision, Relax…etc… while some are more focused around on/off specifics. There is a wake-up mode that gradually brightens. A sleep mode which defaults to warmer and softer settings. An away mode where the light will turn on and off at random intervals if you are out of town. Further, there are a couple of other nice features that I think are useful. There are motion sensors that, when turned on, allow the light to turn off when no one is near, saving energy. You can also enter your age so the light will consider your needs and adjust the Study and Relax presets automatically. Finally, there is a USB-C charger in the base. A nice little touch. Obviously, this light is a commitment. Dyson does offer a five-year warranty, which is great, but they state the light will maintain its quality for 60 years. Yes, 60 years. There is an advanced cooling system that is supposed to control heat, making this possible. Obviously, you must take this one on faith, and, well, who knows, but Dyson has built a nice reputation on quality and good design. Given that reputation, and my time spent with this light, I really like this Lightcycle. I think the only thing missing I would have liked to see is perhaps some voice control (Google/Amazon/Apple). Maybe, down the road? I had my doubts going in, but the fluid motion, build, style, and most importantly, the light itself, with its features, combination of autonomy and control and overall quality won me over.

Extremely versatile lamp for any desk or Job

Dyson does it again, I can’t get over how cool my desk lamp is. Setup up takes about 4 minutes, then just download the Dyson Link app and follow instructions. I really like the app, the back ground of the app matches the color temp of the lamp setting (a neat feature). In the app you can control the Kelvin temp of the light from 2700k to 6500K. You can also boost the lux from 100lx to 1000lx (max boost for short periods.) I am thoroughly impressed with the amount of research that went in to this. (over 850 prototypes, 90 engineers) the lamp is reportedly going to last for up to 60 years (kind of a powerful claim) I will make sure and put this lamp in my will and pass it down as I probably won’t be here to see that. When in manual mode you can sync the light to match your daylight via the app, you can also use the presets for studying, relaxing, precision lighting, or make your own customization of a particular light setting. Motion detection can also be set to know when to auto shut off when your presence is not detected. These can be done from the lamp (buttons under and touch on top, or the app. The latter being my choice.) The lamp is able to mate with all of the smart home gadgets (google, Alexa etc.) The lamp uses pullies to move up and down and left and right and swivel around. Also known as 3 Axis motion glide Technology. It can be set to about any position you need for all my jobs from working on bills, reading, writing, putting models together. The actual LED lamp part is very small (about the size of a silver dollar) but pack tons of power. It uses a technology called Heat Pipe where a drop of water rests above the LED allowing the LED to be placed close together and this results in over 640 lux, or in Laymen’s terms VERY BRIGHT!! DO not accidentally look into this led light, it would almost be as bad as staring into the sun. If you are looking for lamp that is one of the most versatile ones on the market, this is the one. Suitable for any desk or job. I would recommend this for family or friends.

    The perfect desk lamp

The Dyson Desk Lamp is probably the perfect lamp. Like most Dyson products, there is an abundance of engineering that went into creating this device. The lamp is expensive. But you don't buy a Dyson product because you want to save money. You buy it because you want the best. Well, this is it. Everything about this lamp screams quality. It can be adjusted about any way you want, and the adjustments are very smooth. I like the counterweight that keeps the height where you want it. It makes the lamp a little retro, too. I also like the auto feature that lets you set a location and allow the lamp to dictate the brightness and type of light needed, from cool in the morning to warm in the evening as you're winding up your day. The touch sensitive controls are also a plus. The Desk Lamp is also very efficient. The LEDs are kept cool by the use of a heat pipe, most commonly used to cool computer processors. This also helps to increase the life of the LEDs, which Dyson rates at 144,000 hours. The LEDs save electricity, as does the motion sensor that turns the lamp off if you forget to. If you're at a desk most of the day, there are a few things you should have. You need a good chair, a functional desk, a high quality computer monitor, and good lighting. For lighting, it doesn't get any better than the Dyson Desk Lamp.

Who doesn’t want a light projected to last 60 years? Takes 5 mins if that to assemble. Feels like a super sturdy product. I never even knew I wanted a light that changes color temperature based on time of day specific to my area, but it’s awesome. Turns on automatic when I’m working under it. Completely and easily adjustable in dyson app. Can adjust to very bright. Cool industrial modern design. I have it for my photo studio. Such a cool addition. Adjustable vertically and horizontally with the strength of a pinky finger. And if I leave it on, it will turn off for me. This is my second Dyson product an I’m amazed again how they can take something as simple as a lamp and turn it into masterpiece. I absolutely recommend it.

Very underwhelming product. I like that there is flexibility with the adjustable height and movable arm, but there is a big lack of features for what is suppose to be a premium product. So the light as motion sensor which is also great, but you are really limited to two lighting features, brightness and color temperature. There is a button that allows for the light to match the current lighting environment. The also sub par app only adds a couple pre-built functions. 1) Synchronize with the currently lighting environment. 2) Study and 3) Relax. Otherwise it just gives you the option to adjust the brightness and color temperature the same as you can do directly on the lamp. This is via Bluetooth connection, which you have to be within 30 ft or so from the lamp. This is not a smart lamp, it can not connect to your wifi network. So the app here adds very little value. The style is not for everyone and will not fit in every decor. In fact, my spouse said it was flat out ugly, while I thought it was ok looking and good enough to throw down in the office not visible to anyone that uses the office. Again, i like the lighting movement adjustability and being able to adjust the brightness and coolness of the light, but you can also get those rather inexpensively with a smart bulb that can be placed in a lamp that can match your decor. The LEDs in this lamp will last forever, but you are stuck with a crane looking thing. I would have expected some more functionality out of the light coming from Dyson, so unfortunately this was a disappointment.

Using this lamp, I realized how useful the light emulation can be. I'm typically used to the standard, warm white lights or the harsh fluorescent lights that actually make me tired. I find that I squint a lot less when using this desk lamp. A terrible habit I may have help kicking. Sounds "over the top," but it does make a difference. I have been using the "light cycle" function and the subtle changes throughout the day are similar to the blue light filters of my cellphone and PC. My eyes feel less strained by the end of the day. The build is solid. Whether changing height or rotation, it shifts and moves with ease and stays in place. The lamp is cool to the touch. The app is intuitive, and has yet to crash, which I was not expecting. It has the necessary controls should I need a light "boost" on the spot. As for negatives, so far as I can tell, you can change the folding angle. You can go up and down, but it would have been nice to be able to position the lamp completely vertical(straight) if that makes sense. The other is the lack of integration in my smart home ecosystem. But, that's being picky for the purpose of this lamp. You want the best, intuitive, light possible for your desk work space, this will definitely do the trick.

Dyson never disappoints and this lamp is yet another product that proves that. It was very VERY easy to assemble, with clear easy directions. The design is like nothing give seen before. I love how sleek it looks to the point where I don’t think people would notice it was a lamp until they walked past it. Which brings me to my favorite feature. I immediately put this lamp in my home office because I keep a lot of things in my desk that I need throughout the day and the fact that every time I walk by it I don’t have to worry about turning a light on because it turns on automatically if someone walks by it and once it hasn’t detected any motion it cuts off after 2 minutes. I woke up during the middle to find a little night light on since I have it set to adjust to the time and light in my area. Just a great product I want the standup light now.

Cutting Edge Tech and Performance for a Price

This latest Desk Light offering by Dyson Technologies offers a solid build, impressive features and a great design for smooth, effortless repositioning. It even includes a USB-C plug for charging your devices. The light settings are versatile and offer separate control of brightness and color temperature, both on the lamp and via the Dyson Link app. The app gives full control and the ability to sync the light adjustments for the time of day (it will set them automatically according to your geographical location). There is a motion sensor that, when activated, will turn the light on and off according to movement. However, I found myself waving my hand periodically to keep it on when reading or browsing under the light. There is also a sensor for having it automatically adjust according to the ambient light around the lamp. This is clearly a high-tech lamp in a class of its own. Considerations: A lamp in this price-range is an investment, not a casual purchase. So ... • Decor. This is definitely 'Industrial Tech', so be sure it will be compatible with its surroundings. I first set mine up in our traditional-styled living room to test its features. The contrast was not at all flattering (I'm being kind). On the other hand, it will shine (pun intended) in its deployment to my music workstation. It should also excel as a light for work-tables, small hobby activities, and over various dedicated locations such as tables for games or puzzles - and, of course, over an uncluttered computer station. • Low-light. The brightness and versatility of this lamp is impressive. It even includes a 'boost' mode that gives its fullest, brightest light. However, when using it for low-light activities like reading or browsing, I could not dim the light as far as I wanted and found myself swinging it further behind me to get the desired level. If your intended use and decor are right, this is a unique, premium lamp with a wide range of features, control and adaptability. An added plus is that it will definitely garner attention and start conversations!

So the number one thing that stands out about this lamp is the very good build quality. The other thing that was very nice was the ease of assembly. The lamp goes together almost effortlessly. No screws or tools required. The lamp arm is perfectly balanced against the counterweight that holds it up so wherever you move the lamp arm it stays. This is very nice as other lamps you often have to readjust them. The Lamp is very bright almost too much in fact. I only really have 2 complaints, the "crane" type arm can sometimes get in the way if your in a tight area with the lamp, and I wish the brightness could be turned down just a little more. Even on its lowest setting if you are in a dark room the lamp can seem fairly bright. Overall the lamp is very nice, the quality and functionality are all on point for a solid product.

I loved the lamp’s build quality and form. But like others have said, it doesn’t fit well in, say, a living room. I placed mine on my night stand in hopes I could read with it and use the sleep schedule to turn it off after a time. That function did not work despite a chat at 0345 with Dyson—they had no fix. Secondly, was excited about the wake up schedule. Again, a bust. The hoops I had to go through to get it to work were cumbersome to say the least & then it didn’t work great. Next, everything was too far to reach from laying down position. So, roll over, unplug my phone to use the app. Maybe the only right place for this lamp is on a work table. I might see liking it there, but on an end table NO...I have kids, or night stand NO...the app doesn’t work well enough, BUT on a drafting table in a room where kids don’t go and you just need light to work...perfect. Sorry, cool as this lamp is, it’s not for me.
