The product’s performance isn’t worth the price. It’s a good dryer but not near 400$ Good. I find my hair is actually drying more frizzy than it use to with my less expensive dryer.

400 dollar hair dryer worth it? probably!

So, a 400 dollar hair dryer you say? For those that don't want to read much, here you go: If you have the budget, get it! For those that like a little reading, here is some more: Packaging: Its like an apple product. I couldn't wait to open this thing, Dyson packs their stuff wonderfully. What you get: The hairdryer, 3 attachments, and a non-slip pad. Features: This thing is amazing. It is very lightweight, and built very well. The handle has a bit of a grip to it, but not too much. There are 3 heat settings (4 if you count no heat at all), 3 fan settings, and a "cool burst" mode. Also has a 9 foot heavy duty cord Use: Does it dry hair? Of course! The heat settings go from cold, to very hot (but not too hot to where you scorch your hair). The 3 speed settings are also great for styling. The attachments attach via a magnet (genius), and can turn 360 degrees for aiming. No more shoving a piece onto the end of a dryer, and having them break or eventually loose their grip. After using, hair does not feel coarse or burnt, but left feeling very nice and not full of static. Sound is also nice. Yes, it isn't pitch quiet, but it is very quiet for a hair dryer, and doesn't have the loud high-pitched squeal cheaper dryers have. Not much else to say, except for my one gripe. I don't like that on the end of the power cord there is a power brick. It is located about a foot or so from the plug end of the cord, so it makes it awkward to coil the cord around the hairdryer for storage. It also makes the end a bit heavy hanging off of the wall. This is the tradeoff for having the hairdryer itself be light.

Purchased the Dyson hair dryer for a Christmas gift. I had to return it since it didn't function properly. I ended up exchanging for a different one. Not very happy at first considering it cost $400 and should not had a failure out of the box.

This product is really something. Design, quality, and efficiency. My hair has never felt as good after a dryer and I don't feel damage like I have from others. I hope I don't have to ever buy another because this one is the real deal.

    Nice Dryer

I have short, fine, wavy hair, and not a lot of patience for hair drying. Typically, I let my hair air dry overnight, since I don't like to take the time to dry my hair. I was intrigued by the look of this dryer, though, and wanted to try it. Dyson is fairly innovative, and I wanted to see what they brought to hair dryers. The first thing I noticed is how nicely the unit is packaging. It's almost TOO nice, but I guess for the price it should be really appealing. Instead of all the little baggies and ties that you get with most products, the unit was laid out neatly in a liner within a box with a lid. You could theoretically store your product in the box. There were WAY too many plastic coverings on the all the finished parts, though. That was annoying to peel all of those sticky films off before use. The unit comes with a rubber mat (to lay the dryer on), a hanging loop (which I could not figure out where to attach to the dryer), a diffuser, two other attachments, and the instructions. The dryer is really beautiful. I love the pink color, and the LED lights. Very high tech. I was surprised how loud it was, though. It was quieter than my old dryer, but I was assuming that, after looking at all the tech that went into it, it would be quiet. I was disappointed in that. As far as use, I tried the diffuser first. I know that's best for curly hair, but I didn't have the patience for it. After a couple of minutes of no progress, I took it off and was hit with a strong wind. I had the unit on low but it still had a great blast of air. My hair was dry within a couple of minutes. I use a Paul Mitchell product to add volume to my hair, and this dryer worked well with it. My hair was quite full looking. If you are in the market for a new dryer, and you love innovative products, I would consider the Dyson.

I purchase it because I saw a lot of great reviews about it. For some reason this hair dryer always gives me knots on the bottom of my hair and sometimes frizz. I ended returning it. I have straight and oily hair. I don’t know if it’s my hair type or what but it didn’t work out for me. My friend recommend me using a hair dryer called T3. So far T3 is better for me. I think this product is expensive and you’re just buying the brand.

Hello Vicky, this is Kelly with Dyson. We're sorry to hear that in your use, you've found that the Dyson Supersonic has caused knots or frizz in your hair. There are a few different things you can do to change the method in which you dry your hair. To begin with the unit is designed with a type of thermal control which means it will monitor and control the temperature at all times. When the dryer is held away from your head the dryer reads the temperature of the room and not your hair; this also causes your hair to blow all around which can lead to damage and tangles. In light of this, it may be necessary to use the dryer directly against your hair with a low speed/heat setting (to start with) using either your hand, a paddle brush or roll brush to control the movement of your hair.  When applying these tips to your everyday styling you should start to see a difference in the texture of your hair.

We'd value the opportunity to learn more about your experience with your Dyson as we'd like to help ensure you are having a 5-star experience. Please feel free to reach out to us at [email protected], and we will be in touch.

      Best wishes,

I don't get the hype. I bought this based on all the hype from the curly girl community. I got the dang Orchid diffuser (which i still love) and the rubber attachment thing to make it fit. I just don't get it. Even normal blow drying doesn't really seem that much faster than my regular ol' blow dryer. Not to justify the price tag! It is pretty and it doesn't take up much space. I love Dyson products. This one I just don't get.

Dyson is well known for cutting edge product development all the way up to how they package their products is top of the line. This hairdryer is no different as everything is very well protected. That being said, I've always had bargain bin hairdryers in the past I was naturally very skeptical of one this expensive. I mean, how much can you improve a hand held device that heats up air to dry your hair? Well, a decent amount apparently because this device is impressive. It is built solid, feels great in your hand, and is fairly light weight. The magnetic attachments are very handy. The sound generated is noticeably lower than less expensive units. Performance wise it does seem to dry a bit quicker as well. So what's the downside? The price! This is extremely expensive for a hair dryer and I can't really justify it being THAT much better than less expensive models. That being said, if money is a non issue and you want the best hairdryer out there, look no further!

Hi there! Thank you for taking the time to provide a review on the Supersonic. We are pleased to hear that you are enjoying the hair dryer. Unlike other hair dryers, the Supersonic uses a built in heat sensor to control the amount of heat the machine produces to prevent heat damage to hair. It is also the only one designed with the motor in the handle which makes it lighter and easier to handle.

Other than the normal Dyson quality, I really didn't know what to expect from the Dyson Supersonic hairdryer. I own a Dyson cordless vacuum and love it, so I thought why not try the hair dryer. I am SO GLAD I DID! What an amazing hair dryer!! So you ask what could make a hair dryer amazing? The answer is DYSON! First, the item is expertly packaged, with padding built right into the box for protection. Then you see the hairdryer itself, it is like nothing I have ever seen. The Fuchsia/iron combination is very attractive. I was concerned it would be heavy, due to the weight of the box. But after removing it from the box, the weight isn't in the dryer, but the box itself along with the padding and attachments in the box! The hair dryer is actually light weight. Plug it it and you're ready to go. The dryer is very comfortable to hold and well balanced. With the motor in the handle, the head is much more well-balanced than previous dryers I have used. As for speed and heat settings, they are all shown by LED indicators. It was simple to adjust the heat setting - low, med, hot and even a constant cool setting along with a button for a blast of cool. And there are also 3 speed settings to choose from. For me, medium heat, high speed and my short hair was dry in no time. It is well balanced while styling and surprisingly quiet with power to spare! This unit comes with a smoothing nozzle, a styling concentrator and a diffuser which attach via magnets! Easy on and off. Yes, the unit is expensive but give it a try and you will be pleased! Dyson has done it again and it is amazing!

The hair dryer was solid until it died completely in less than 2 years. Dyson wanted $299 to replace the motor. 1 star to best buy's geek squad insurance purchase. Their own words "enhances and extends" your purchase with graphics selling it as an extension to the manufacturer warranty, when in reality, it isn't.
