Customers frequently mention the lightweight design, powerful suction, and ease of use as significant advantages of the V12 Detect Slim Cordless Vacuum. Many appreciate the long battery life and the laser feature, which helps to highlight dust and debris. However, some users point out that the dustbin is on the smaller side and that the price point may be a deterrent for some buyers. A few also noted concerns about filter maintenance.

If you find the full size Dyson Cordless Vacuum's a bit tiring to use around the house. This this recent V12 Detect Slim model is that much lighter to use, but still almost as powerful. The smaller container never was impairment to working mulltiple rooms, and its super easy to empty. With the attachments it comes with you're pretty much ready for anything. More attachments can be bought from Dyson as needed. Litterly anything can be swapped rather than needing to buy a new one. Perfect for most people wanting to get rid of their older vacuums and get something thats a joy to use.

Lightweight and easy to use. The laser light highlights dust that can be hard to see. The on/off button is easier on the hand than the trigger switch. Suction power and battery life are good. Although the dust bin is smaller, this is not a problem since it is easy and quick to empty.

I absolutely love this vacuum and my floors have never been cleaner. I have vacuumed more in the couple months that I have had this vacuum than I have since living in this house. It is so lightweight and easy to use. It swivels to reach in pretty much every corner or underneath furniture. The attachments are fantastic, I love the upholstery attachment for the mattress and couch. The light is so nice on hard floors, I can see every dog hari and piece of dust so I don't miss any spots. I wanted this item for years and just couldn't spend the money but not that I finally did I am so glad I did, I love this thing

These vacuums are simply expensive hence the 1 star off. However, the quality of the product is really good. Its amazing what we can pick up on rugs with the larger attachment. The hard floor attachment with the laser combined with the particle pickup stats really makes you wanna go for high scores! Plus the laser is a really good idea for showing how much youre actually cleaning, and the attachment does well on our wood floors. Battery life is good, about what youd expect at about 40 mins. Suction is almost always good even with a full bin. For a small vacuum to do maintenance clean up on messes of any size this is excellent technology. Its hard to say if its worth the price though. That depends on how much you value a clean floor.

The gamification of cleaning, and I am HERE FOR IT

Inside my 1300-square foot home, you'll find mostly hard surfaces with a few rugs, two adults, two kids, and a dog. There is always cleaning that needs to be done; especially the floors. We need a vacuum that's easy to pick up and use at a moment's notice, and does a great job getting all the stuff off the floors and out of the corners. The lightweight, laser-equipped Dyson V12 is perfect for us.
Before getting this vacuum, our main vac was an LG A9 CordZero. The LG was fine, but my complaints about it are that it's kind of heavy and unwieldy, and it's a pain in the butt to empty out. I also had to pay to have a replacement head shipped from overseas about 18 months into its life. The most annoying thing about it is I usually have to take out the inner filter and dig my fingers around inside to get all the stuff out after a cleaning session.
The Dyson V12 has solved all of those problems, and then solved some other ones I didn't even know I had. It is lightweight, easy to maneuver, and dead simple to empty into the garbage can. On top of that, its brush heads each clean extremely well for their special focus, and they're super simple to change out and even open up to clean when necessary. But the best thing about the V12 detect is the LASER on the soft brush head!
This is the first time in my life where I have found cleaning not only easy but ENJOYABLE. The laser makes using the vacuum into a game, and I am absolutely here for it. It has even made my kids say "that is so cool!" (But I should note, when asked if they would like to use it to clean their floor, my oldest said "no" without hesitation. They much preferred watching me use it, hahaha.)
In the past week of using the V12, I've had occasion to clean many different items in my house. Let me describe each of the important components and what they've done for me:
~The soft "Laser Slim Fluffy" cleaning head~
As its name implies, this head is slim, fluffy, and has a laser. I have found it an absolute pleasure to use all around my home. It's slimness allows it to fit under the doorstops behind doors (see pic), while cleaning a variety of floors. We have hardwood in most of the home, vinyl in the kitchen, and cork in the home office. The laser casts a green glow, showing all the dust, dirt and dog hair trapped in the nooks and crannies of the house. It really does feel like a game following the light with my eyes as I pass over the floors, then pulling the vacuum back over the floor to see how well I've done. I love it.
Another reason to love it: a few days into using it, I sucked a small overripe strawberry into one of the corners. Red goo all up inside. It was very simple to twist off one end of the brush head, remove and rinse the fluffy part, wipe out the shell with a paper towel, and reinstall the head into the body.
~The standard Dyson Motorbar head~
If you've used a Dyson vacuum before, you know most of what you need to know about this head. There is no laser on this one, but it does clean like the dickens. The new twist here is that the head has hard plastic fins inside for catching hair before it gets stuck on the head itself. Brilliant! In the few places we have rugs in the house, I have found this head to work wonders. I can fill up the canister easily with dog hair in just one pass on the big 7x10 area rug in my living room.
~The new "Hair Screw" tool~
Apparently this one is what I should be using for dog hair! I have found it very effective on the rug at the back door, which collects hair, grass, and dirt. This tool probably made that rug the cleanest it's been in a long time. In addition, I used this tool to clean the welcome mat outside the front door, which had a bunch of pieces of grass stuck to it. It didn't do a perfect job, but it made the mat look MUCH better.
~The dust chamber/main body~
Obviously this is where most of the magic happens. The V12's main body is lightweight with an easy-to-grip handle. On the side that faces the user, there is a screen that shows how many things the vacuum has picked up, separating them into categories based on their relative size.
There is a small button on the body that allows the user to change from the default Auto mode to low/medium/high settings. In auto mode, the Dyson increases the suction speed when it detects a lot of debris coming into the canister. The battery charges very quickly and lasts about 40 minutes on a charge, and can be separated from the body to charge plugged into an outlet.
The dust chamber is not huge, and fills up pretty full in a 15 to 20-minute cleaning session, but it is extremely easy to empty. There is a red handle on the bottom half of the chamber that pushes the entire cowling of the unity downward, simultaneously emptying the contents and brushing against the center filter body, wiping away the excess dirt. By pumping the handle up and down a few times, you can clear away almost everything inside of the chamber. Then you can use a finger or two on the outside of the chamber to close the lid. It's great.
~The rest of the gear~
The rest of the stuff that comes with the Dyson V12 Detect is pretty standard. A couple of attachments and a wall mount. I found the mount very easy to attach to a wall of my pantry, and the only one thing I can complain about with my whole experience is that the two attachment points on the bottom of the all mount don't seem to be able to fit any two of the brush heads side by side. I ended up leaving the Motorbar head attached there most of the time and put the Hair Screw into a cabinet with other cleaning supplies, to be gotten out when necessary.
~The final word~
I am very satisfied with the Dyson V12. The laser makes it fun to use, the motor is powerful, the unit is lightweight and easy to maneuver, and the whole thing is built with Dyson quality. I'm looking forward to years of good use out of it!

I recently purchased the Dyson V12 vacuum, and I am thoroughly impressed with its performance. This vacuum is incredibly powerful, effortlessly picking up dirt and debris from various surfaces. It is surprisingly lightweight, making it easy to maneuver around the house.
The battery life is excellent, allowing me to clean my entire home on a single charge. Storage is a breeze, thanks to its compact design that fits neatly into small spaces. This is by far the best vacuum I’ve ever owned, combining efficiency and convenience in a sleek package. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a top-notch cleaning tool.

My family love this little cordless vacuum. The canister is not that large, so doing even a medium size house can be challenging if you doing carpeting. If you using it on a hard surface you can definitely use it on one charge as long as you don't use it on the highest level. We personally keep it running on auto and is able to do the whole house where there is a hard surface. Again if you have a mixture of hard surface and carpeting, you be hard press finishing up on one charge depending on how big your house is.
You won't be disappointed in the sucking power and the green laser it has to find dust is more handy than i realized. Came into it thinking it would be more gimmicky than useful but I wrong. We use it often, probably all the time.
All in all this is a useful vacuum. We find ourselves picking this thing up instead of a broom for a quick cleaning.

This vacuum cleaner is very lightweight. It is easy to empty & clean. Also, it has amazing sucking power. I needed a cordless vacuum cleaner with the strength to go deep into the carpet. This is the tool. The light lets you know where all the dirt is. The head swivels and fits in all kinds of corners and under furniture. So easy to use. The light weight does not take a toll on my back, and I find myself vacuuming more often resulting in cleaner floors. The green light attachment for hard surfaces is no gimmick - unbelievable really! This is by far the best vacuum I have ever owned. Great for doing stairs and carrying around -it's so light. I'm a big fan of this company's products now.

A Small Vacuum With Big Power

Everyone knows that Dyson vacuums are the creme de la creme of vacuum cleaners today for the consumer. Dyson continues to innovate in this area and invent new features that I never knew a vacuum could have! This Dyson v12 slim cordless vacuum is a great example of this.
In my house, I have hard wood flooring throughout and only carpet in the bedrooms. This is kind of my biggest gripe with this vacuum is that the roller with the laser is ONLY designed for hardwood floors or tile. So what this means, is when I am done cleaning my hard floors, I have to switch the head out with the one designed for carpets (and hard floors). It would've been really nice if they could just bake the laser tech in with a hybrid roller so you don't have to switch back and forth when cleaning. Besides that, the vacuum works great. The laser is very cool because you truly do see dirt/debris that you can't see with the naked eye (see photos). Also, Dyson has a new technology where it detects how many allergens, dust particles, dust mites and sugar that you pick up every time you use it. It just is more validation that you are getting a good clean. Also, it is nice how in auto mode the vacuum will automatically adjust suction power based on how much dirt/allergens are detected, taking the guess work out.
The mounting kit that is included is nifty, I love being able to store all the attachments on the vacuum and mounting kit and have it charge.
The battery life is ok, I get about 35 minutes on auto mode, sometimes 40, not the best, but it is enough to do a cleaning of my 1000 sqft home on one charge.
The cleaning power is great on this thing, it picks up dirt and dust I never knew existed, even after going over it with my old vacuum, new dirt was found!

Excellent small cordless vacuum. I got it on sale last year for a very good price and have been using it to clean my dorm/living area. It picks up so much more dust and dirt than other vacuums and the variety of attachments makes cleaning tight and varied spaces very easy. Only issue is the filter needs cleaning relatively frequently and takes 24 hours to dry off. The power button is much better than the old trigger system and the bin is very easy to empty with the slide. No reliability issues or defects.

What is there to say it’s a Dyson. Super easy to use and light weight. I have about 1,500 sq ft of space and I’m able to vacuum the whole thing in one charge. The bristle head really tackles hair and doesn’t get tangled. My old vacuum I had to literally cut the hairs with scissors. Suction is excellent, it has 3 settings and it automatically adjusts with the dust on your floor. So I do recommend this vacuum, a bit pricey but we’ll worth it.

Coming from a corded dc24, I thought I had the peak vacuum. I picked up this vacuum to help clean some wood and tile floors. Instead, this is now my everywhere-vacuum. It’s portable, the battery lasts a run through the whole house, and the green laser for bare floors really helps identify crumbs. Very happy with this purchase. My old dc24 is getting a lot of rest time now :)

Perfect suctionon tile, vinyl and low carpet. 2 differents easy to change. Attachment secure on wand. Laser light to see everything on floor including dust is a real plus. Canister is small but enough for me to do all tile floors and one room of rug. Light, easy to manuver. Love, Love Love it.
